My complaint is for U HAUL Android application. You recommend to return using this app. But it does not work in Samsung. App asks to save photos. I've made 10-20 photos, but none of them were approved. Finally, I returned through the site, not the app with no problems. I've wasted 40 minutes and soaked under the heavy rain afterwards. If the app worked, I would not get under the rain. If you suggest to use Android app, make sure it works!Vitalii S.

There was only one person working the customer service area, and the line up went to the door, and steadily grew. The bins I picked up for my move were NOT clean. Still had some debris in them. I tried calling first thing I the morning because I had a couple of questions. When I was there in the afternoon, the phone kept ringing, but was ignored by the person working.ANDREWYAO S.

Whe I changed from a panel van to a 10' truck the cost difference was not explained. They did explain the $19 to $39 change but not the mileage change which was hundreds of dollars. It was a shock I only understood at time of pick up.Glenn E.

The app froze during check in, and as a result I felt like I was overcharged for gas upon returning it. Otherwise the experience was very goodMatthew K.
I booked a uhaul at the Breezehill location, and received an email confirming as such, as well as a statement that I should expect a phone call the Wednesday before my reservation to confirm it. Flash forward to the day of my reservation, the pick up location has changed to Coventry, and I never received a confirmation phone call so I had no warning of this change. When I arrived at Coventry, the check in app wasn't working, so I had to wait in a line for 20 mins to get the truck. There were three people up front, two of which were men who were not friendly and were kind of patronizing to most customers. When I got back to Coventry to drop off the truck, we were about to check out in the app, but someone was already checking us out. I confirmed with him that receipt via email was good for me. I still haven't received my receipt, and there's an extra $37 charge, and I am only aware an extra $12 for gas (the truck was a tick below full). Overall, super unimpressed with the lack of efficiency of uhaul in general.CHRISTOPHERNEILW T.

Terrible office and access hours, could not move in the first day I arrived because they close at 7pm not allowing anyone who works a job to get there in time. I arrived at 630pm and was told there was not enough time to unload before closing, so I had to put an additional 30Km on the rental truck to come back the following day. When I did check in on the 2nd attempt I was forced to buy a lock from U-Haul any way to get more money I guess,Eric H. | First Impressions

The trailer hitch mechanism(hook up) was not explained to me how it was connected, or more importantly, how I disconnect it. I tried to drop it off after closing, but could not disconnect it. I did not know there was a release button to allow turning of the knob to release the ball nor did I know how to disconnect the chains. So after trips to and from Uhaul to home and back to Uhaul to try and figure out how to unhitch, I spent close to two hours trying to figure out what to do. I could not park in my apartment building with the trailer as I had a single car spot. I thought of parking the car with the trailer attached overnight in a pay parking lot. Finally I figured out the hitch connection method and was freed from the trailer. All because no one took the time to show me how it works.DONALDW F.

The staff were friendly and mostly efficient. The first trailer had faulty wiring. We switched and the trailer we ended with was old, noisy, the door was finicky (even the staff had trouble closing it) and the brake systerm badly needed maintenance. Took 25 minutes for what could/should have taken 5 or 10. Drop off was quick and easy and the staff was very nice.Francois O.

I rented a 5x8 trailer. It was very dirty inside and out. The suspension system was not working and the trailer was noisy and the trailer jumped and jerked a lot. This was bad for my content and also my own vehicle. I actually brought back the trailer and explaiend my concerns to the yard employee who dismissed my concerns and said the trailer wa fine and had been inspected by a mechanic. I was frustarted by his approach and ended up taking the tariler as I had no other choice. The operation was fine otherwise, just really badly maintained equipment. I will go elsewhere next time.Bjarki H.

In these covid times the in and out path for customers should be marked better. The pick up and drop off app did not work so I had to return the next morning to confirm the drop off had been processed without extra charges. The drop off procedure was supposed to result in a receipt being sent but it did not so I had to call and wait on hold for a long time to get someone to email me the drop off receipt. All in all. This is not my first time using U-Haul at Coventry. The equipment is always excellent. The process needs improvement so I've overheard the staff taking unnecessary flak more than once, which shows in how they approach clients. As for U-Haul itself. The technology is not great and the pricing printed on the trucks is very misleading which leads to a lot of huffing and puffing by clients when they get to the rental location so that is bad business from my perspective.Darwin L.

I was given incorrect information about pick up/drop off times and charges for trailer rental and fees. Charged an extra day because of an extra hour I didn't need to take. Customers can't call a specific location, and I've been left of hold for over half an hour multiple times. U haul has the worst telephone system of any major company I've ever used. Although the line-up in the morning was really long ( I don't think you had enough people on the desk to handle the traffic), waiting 20+ minutes to pick-up a trailer was way-way-way to long. You need to correct the way you take online reservations. I chose a pick-up location in Kanata, close to where I was storing my belongings and NO ONE bothered reaching out to me to tell me that it was impossible to book there because they weren't going to have the 15-foot truck I needed. I took it up on myself to call that location a day before pick-up, just to check and make sure they had my reservation and that my truck would be ready. The woman who answered said she never had that truck and that I'd have to go 40 minutes East to Coventry Road to pick up the truck and auto-transport. When I arrived at Coventry Road, THEY ALSO DID NOT HAVE A TRUCK AVAILABLE!!!!!!! They tried to force us into a 26-foot truck until my husband loudly complained and finally they "found" a truck for us. Then the auto-transport wouldn't fit on the truck, so we had to drive ANOTHER 30 minutes east to pick up the autotransport. What should have taken 30 minutes total took us an entire day. THEN I was told that I would get 60 kms free because of them making us drive all over Ottawa and not having the appropriate vehicles ready for us and yet when I dropped off the truck in State College, I was charged an additional $45 in overage for extra kms!!!! I strongly feel I should be refunded some of my payment, which was over $550. This is not a good way for you to keep customers.Katherine P.

Staff were not the friendliest. Nowhere in the email communication with U-Haul does it say that you must arrive exactly when you indicate online when booking your reservation. I was 45 minutes later than my booking time and the staff were very rude and said they were about to cancel my reservation. Rental car companies do not do this - if you have a vehicle and have confirmed online & by phone, they should hold it for you. OR indicate clearly that the rental will be cancelled after a set period of time. My rental went smoothly after this, but this location did not have the specific vehicles rented by several other customers ahead of me in line. These customers had to drive to other locations (some quite far away) or walked out without their rental. With all of the algorithms and technologies available, U-Haul should be able to ensure that the vehicles people reserve ahead of time are available, that their communication about expectations re: timing, licenses etc is clear, and that their staff are at least neutral to the customers.Emma B.

No on site parking. You expect me walk a few blocks to park my car or risk it getting towed at the Canadian tire across the street. No pickup or shuttle to you car. The entire mark any existing damage with a sticker is bogus. I had to get someone to com see unmarked damage and put sticker on it. So th van was NOT ready for me. The Manager was micro managing everyone on staff while trying to serve me. There was an issue with another customer where it appeared they had given their truck to someone else. It was confusing since the GM was speaking to everyone but who he was serving (me) and it took about an hour for pick up. I gave him my mother's phone number since he requested the # of someone who wasn't there and watched him type it into the computer incorrectly. I tried to correct him and he ignored me. I asked to have another driver added. Gave him the licence and he held it upsidedown staring at his cellphone and gave the licence back without inputting anything into the system. It seemed super unprofessional. I felt bad for the other 20-30 people lined up out the door.Angela T.
Location, and staff and experience were great. -1 since there was no forewarning (I Specifically looked if this was the case ahead of time) that I had to park my personal car a 2km walk away and that took 20 unplanned minutes from my 4 hour reservation. Please but a disclaimer in the conformation email. -1 since I attempted to use the mobile check in, and the web browser crashed about 18times before I gave up and saw the service desk.BRAD G.

I am very happy with my entire rental experience from the U-Haul Car Carrier and all the staff members who assisted me. The General Manager at the Check-in desk, the great lot attendant who attached the trailer, and the equally excellent lot attendant who checked me back in well after the location and closed. All Excellent customer service. My only critique is that there needs to be more than one staff member at the check-in and retail desk. The wait was 30 minutes and a line up out the door. However the General Manager was at the desk and moved customers along quite quickly. This location could process so much more business with one more person at the desk.Robert L.
I arrived 15 minutes early to pick up my trailer and they tried to charge me for 2 days because they started my booking 15 minutes early. I arrived at 6:45 for a reservation for 7:00, after I argued with the attendant, she changed my reservation start time for 6:30 so I wouldn't be charged for 2 days, Weird I had my trailer at 7:05, NOT GOOD SERVICEPaul R.
We ended up paying more than the estimated total, despite the fact we drove the van 10km less than the estimated amount, filled up the tank just before returning the van, and had no damage on it. The staff at the desk made fun of three customers (as they interacted with them at the desk, he was verbally just rude and it was absolutely unbelievable. I will never recommend Uhaul Storage to anyone and have reported you to the Better Business Bureau and have thoroughly detailed the fraudulent business pertaining to your insurance coverage. I have been told this is not an isolated incident and that this is entrenched in how Uhaul conducts themselves. I am the Director of Communications for a $15 Billion CPG company and will also be reaching out to my national media contacts across Canada to share my story in hopes that I can save someone else from renting through Uhaul and save them from thousands of dollars in damages, too. On top of not properly maintaining the drainage system at the facility, Uhaul does nothing to mitigate vermin and instead just traps the ones they find, does not dispose of their carcasses, and does not care that they run rampant across the storage facility.
