Make sure windshield is clean before renting. Have someone available to check you back in. When I returned, I waited outside in the return area. No one was there. I went inside and waited 5+ minutes to speak to someone at the desk. They told me to wait outside and someone will serve me there. I went back outside and I had to track someone down in order to check-in. This was a waste of my time and it inconvenienced my ride home.John C.
I was charged a $25 cleaning fee. There was a bit of soil in the truck that I could have cleaned myself if I had known there was an extra charge. I'm not happy at this unexpected additional cost.MaryLou S.

The service at returns is absolutely horrible. Sat for about 20 minutes before being seen. The young man who â€œworksâ€ here lacks professionalism. A Blue tooth speaker in the back pocket blaring horrible music isn't part of the uniform I am sure. Clearly and obviously looks like he's smoking weed at work. There were 6 clients waiting to be seen. People have better things to do with there time than have to wait. It took a customer to walk around the parking lot and find the employee in questionAdam W.

You need to improve your customer intake process. I filled in all the details ahead of time for a quick checkin. Only one customer being served when I arrived. It took quite awhile before I was served. After I was finally served and checked in, I had to hunt around outside to find someone to load the trailer on my car. There was no one else but me in the parking lot. All in all over 40 minutes to arrive, be served, and drive away. This is not quick checkin!John D.

Location was good and service at the location was good too. Company in general has to find a way to lessen wait times like giving queue numbers and call backs to customers. I booked a Uhaul for 10 am on a Saturday so I could move but the reservation was changed to 5:30 pm two days before which didn't work with my schedule at all, added to the stress of moving, and there weren't any other options for me to rebook or use a different company! When I realized that the reservation had been moved to 5:30 pm, I asked the company to call me if the trailer was available sooner. I never got a call but when I went to pick it up at 5:30 someone told me it was returned at 2 pm. It was an extremely frustrating experience and I would gladly use another company if one was available.Emily B.

My only complaint was that I booked at a location and was confirmed there almost 1 month ago .Five days before pickup I was notified that this had been moved to another location approximately 20 km extra each away there was no credit offeredAnthony G.
The Innes Road location did an excellent job but I was very disappointed that I was notified a week before my move date that the cargo trailer I booked well in advance wasn't available. The proposed solution was just to change the date to 2 days afterward which was unacceptable. The phone agent managed to find me a utility trailer that worked well but the whole experience was in my opinion unnecessarily distressing and disappointing.Glen M.

The first truck I was supposed to use had a severely asymmetrically worn down front right tire. Not an issue for an in-town move, but I had a 2,500 km trip ahead of me. It was only because I inspected the truck closely myself that this came up, despite the recorded pre-departure safety check. The automobile transport trailer was old and some of the railings were rusted through, but there was no replacement available to switch to. After a day of driving, one of the trailer tires was wearing down so quickly and asymmetrically that it started going flat and we had to arrange for a fix (which is a miserable experience in itself). One of the vehicle tie down straps had come off because the anchor point had not been aligned centrally in front of the tire. I had to put that back on correctly myself. Overall a very poor experience with serious safety implications that could have been avoided entirely by better upkeep of the equipment.David D.

The process to rent our truck was horrible. We booked the truck at a much closer location to us in Ottawa but Uhaul moved us to here. Took over an hour total to pick up a pre-booked truck, because the cashier was incompetent. First, she input our information wrong twice. She couldn't seem to follow the directions the computer clearly gave. Then she and the 3 other staff she brought in to help her wanted to charge us for the extra miles we would use because Uhaul moved our booking! She spent the last 30min of our booking searching for the key to the truck for us. She never found the key, even though everyone on staff could 'see the truck right outside'. She had to give us a much larger truck, which we had a lot of trouble manoeuvring in the city. Finally, to top it off, she brought us walking around the entire Uhaul lot, to check every truck, to find the truck we actually had the key to. While we were waiting, we heard other staff be rude and condescending to customers in person and on the phone. Will absolutely avoid this place in the future, and everyone else should too.Elena R.

This truck was reserved 3 weeks ago for mobile check in. We arrived and no check in. Had to go in the store. They asked AGAIN for our licence number( i had loaded in the app prior). The guy clearly spoke french but served us in English 3/4 in the conversation where i insisted on speaking french, did he change to french. Not impressed with customer service! There was rodent droppings in the unit. I couldn't quickly locate a broom to sweep out the unit, so I had to use my shoe to try and remove as much as possible before storing my items. Additionally, the heat is still on in the loading dock and made it uncomfortable for unloading things unless we kept opening the garage door. These things aside, the experience was great - staff were friendly and attentive. The person who unlocked the locker was done their shift by the time we were done in the office but still showed us to the locker so the other employee could continue to work in the office.Tiffany W. | First Impressions

- the trucks were not parked in order: when we picked up our truck, it took 4 times before getting a truck that was actually accessible. The first one was stuck between two other trucks, then, the 2nd one, one door was not closing, the 3rd one was also stuck between two trucks... We had to look at a truck available (i.e. in front of truck line) and run back to the staff inside to tell them which one was in the front. I received specific information about my truck rental from the manager in orleans. In her absence, the front workers were very unhelpful and my issue was not solved. I have closed my account with UHaul and have also contacted the manager. Also I was told if I close my unit early there would be a prorated refund. Perhaps I was wrong but this is was disappointing. When we arrived our locker was taken and had to then move to a second level locker which was very inconvenient due to the size and weight of our items. I will say that the staff member who helped us solve the issue was extremely friendly and wanted to make sure we were ok. However the staff at the counter were less then friendly specifically when the staff member that helped us wanted questions answered. I got charged late fees while the money was in my account so many times. I even called last month to ask why the payment did not go through and why I had no emails, the lady helped me and tried to reprocess the payment and it still did not work. I decided to empty my unit and use another storage. The staff at the Orleans location is helpful however the general Uhaul number is useless. There is a female employee who works only day shifts from what I have noticed.... long dark hair. She never smiles, never a pleasant welcome... does not look happy to be working. In the beginning of my rentals she was to have the manager call me (Paul) as we first booked on line and what we booked was not available (not our fault the website was not reflective of what was available) so I told her that I wanted to have the same price of a unit t that we booked online for. Regarding closing the account: I was surprise to find out that their was no pro-rata per day with U-Haul. I should of read the whole contract at the counter in front of your cashier employee before agreeing of taking the storage unit. Unfortunately its impossible to read the find print of your contract when the booking is done over the phone or at the counter. IF I MAY SUGEST, this should be clarify at the time of the booking on the phone or at the counter by your sale team, this would certainly prevent a disappointment, frustration and hard ship when money is tight. One issue was that the map did not match reality and the unit we were originally assigned was a different size and we had to go back to the office to wait in line and get moved to another location. Not a huge deal, but also a bit strange. While we were waiting, the couple in front of use were clearly having the same issue. A bit strange that that if the map is wrong that it would not be corrected or at least that the staff would not know which were which even if there had not been time yet to fix the maps. The indoor storage space was great. The problem I had over and over again, is that I couldn't get in. I wasted time and money when I was trying to move out, because the code was not working. I called and told them the next day, they said they will reset it,I came back after work and couldn't get in again! There is no one to call after 7 pm. I had to wait again till the next day. Then there's the confusing issue of 2 boxes, to punch your number into, and you have to punch in your number to the one on the left first... if you punch it in on the right before the left it will look you out- no one explained that until I got locked out- it makes no sense why it has to be that way- , anyways my number did not work in either boxes.Then I realized there's a 3rd punch in box. There should be clear instructions.
