Poorly kept area where the employees expect some customers to return and unhook the equipment themselves. The area is full of ice and on a slope. The tongue of the trailer slid off toward the car after I unhooked it , trapping my hand and damaging the back of my wife's vehicle. Through either mistakes, incompetence, or criminal behavior all the items in my storage unit were disposed of FIVE days after I started to put them into the unit, using the access code I had been assigned. In addition I am being charged late fees for a unit (1027) that was not my unit. An insurance claim has been opened to recover a portion of the value of the items that have been lost. I am still in shock that, as an aritist, I have lost the majority of my artwork and that of others that I collected. I have also lost family heirlooms going back over 100 years. Also my jewelry and my passport. This is an active case. I have refrained from going public with my experience at this time as we work through claim process. A police report was filed. This is a review for accessing my ubox at the storage location after pick up. The manager Eric over the phone spoke to me as if he had no interest in helping me see how much they weighed and to access them to put more things in and take things out. He said a few hours then got more frustrated and said next day. He weighed them within the hour and I went in as soon as possible so they could re-store them. When I got there I asked where the uboxes were and he said over there. He was so irritated he wouldn't say anything else to direct his clerk. His clerk was helpful and respectful. He had to go back and ask him where it was. Afterwards of loading I couldn't close the box. It was a old box they said and significantly shorter than the rest. I let him know I appreciated his help and I had a lot going on , I'm renovating my home, to sell, taking 6 classes, working and taking care of my kids as a single parent fir 18 yrs. He said â€œmy life is like yoursâ€ he then said he was taking 9 classes. He also said â€œwell you got that single parent stuff down thenâ€ with a large laugh. I said not really, the Army helped and I could finally be with them more. His demeanor was as if I was bothering him by asking him for access and weight of my uboxes as well as why they aren't in my online profile. They are as closed reservations though but not easily viewable from current reservations. The first part of my reservation with the drop off and pick up was excellent. Today however was not anything I invoked for his overall interaction with me.Cammie W.

Give a spare tire to anyone traveling through Alaska or Canada. The trailer I was given had no spare. I attempted to find one to no avail. I chanced it, based on the fact that I was told Uhaul did not give spares. Tire blew out in British Columbia Canada with no cell service for 2 hours. Had a spare been included, I could have changed it and continued. I was lucky in that I found a lodge who was able to help me. Simply put, to not include a spare tire is ridiculous on the company's part. If I have to make this drive again, I will not rent from your company unless a spare tire is provided. The customer deserves peace of mind when traveling. On the other side of things, the customer service was phenomenal when I had my issues. The wrong truck was moved to the pick up spot. When the staff was notified they went to get it then said they had a warm truck waiting for me if I hadn't started the pick up process using the app. Was the snark necessary during a pandemic? There was a lot of confusing and moving units at first because of damage to locking mechanism on the first one, then told to go to another, then another, and finally got one that wasn't being used. Staff at front seemed to be busy and not focused on the details but it was resolved. Still not sure if I will be charged for the right unit and if my prepayment will go through properly. I ran into a lot of trouble with your mobile app/check-in service. The app wouldn't load without connecting to your store's wi-fi. When I received a texted link to do the assessment, your website would not let me upload a photo of my gas gauge and odometer. I ended up getting waived through the process by one of your staff (a very helpful young man), but found that because the gas gauge didn't reflect what had been on the paperwork, I was charged $16 for using a very small amount of fuel that was well-within the range on the check-in/check-out instructions. The service and help at the location was top-notch. The experience using your app was sub-par.HEATHER A.

I made my reservation online and spoke with some a person on the phone the morning before I got there; the truck had not been pulled out; it had not been warmed up; the problem with not being warm is I am on a time limit and 15 to 20 minutes warming the truck was in the brick of time I was paying for. Luckily I got back in time. The app on the phone did not work when I arrived. It said I was at the wrong location and said I needed to be at then gave the address for the location I was at, Your app sucks and dont work. the truck checkout list before leaving the lot did not come through on my phone until I was at my loading destination. To late to check for damage at that point. So your system has a cool outline but week infrastructure in my opinion based on my experience; I would not buy UHAUL stock on the stock exchange.MATTHEW T.

I live in Alaska, very icy in winter. Truck is from Arizona, so i get a truck with no studs, 1/4 a tank of gas, and when i return truck there is nobody there outside like it say's. Waited for about 5 min. Went inside to find one guy taking care of someone else, when i finally got tired of wanting i ask him about the people outside and tells all the people in line returning we where good to go. That was most of the line and the others thanked me! You people need to at least put studs on these vehicles especially in a state that is very icy! Thank you !Kevin J.

This is my first time renting a moving truck. The front desk did not give me any information and was not much help. Didn't tell me anything. Just gave me the keys. He also asked me to sign the pad after I took payment. I thought I was signing for the payment but I was signing a list of agreements that I didn't even read he did not give me a chance to read before signing.ALEXIS L.

Return agent shorted me on my gas gauge when I went out of my way to return the truck with the needle higher than the initial 1/4 tank I started with. There is no way I left the truck with 1/8 a tank when I added gas myself to offset use. I verified needle was above 1/4 mark when I parked at lot. This stupid gas charge soured my otherwise pleasant rental trip. Either the agent is shorting me or the gauge broke after I left truck. Either way, I am not happy and will not rent from this location again. Feel like I was extorted. Also you should not be able to rent a truck with only 1/4 a tank to start. The staff was always Very grumpy and rude. They acted like helping you was a chore and it was quite concerning. The only gal that was super sweet was the older cleaning lady that came the the storage building. She was always so friendly and helpful. I always felt bad for her because she had to clean up some really nasty stuff left by people at the entrance. She should get some kind of compensation. I was very disappointed with the customer service provided. The people that helped us were no personable and when I went to drop the truck off, I was asked to just leave it with the keys inside. I requested someone go outside with me to check the truck but they were too busy. Then I received my bill with an extra $50 charge stating that I did not fill the gas tank up to the proper line even though I did the same amount as it was when I took the truck. I don't understand why no one would help or notify me but instead would rather take my money. I am very disappointed with this situation.Sarah P.

It is hard to begin to describe the level of incompetence at this U-Haul location. I rented a 6x12 U-Haul trailer from the North Anchorage U-Haul location on Boundary Ave. I reserved the trailer for a drop-off in Seattle, and explained to the North Anchorage U-Haul that I would be traveling through Yukon and British Columbia on the Alaska Highway during winter, and that the trailer should be in good shape. The North Anchorage U-Haul hooked me up to a first trailer, only to discover that the wheels were seized up. The employee then hooked me up to another nearby trailer. I looked at the wheels and questioned whether they were sufficient for the length of my drive. The tires were almost completely bald. They had little tread at all. The trailer as also banged up, and did not have the proper stickers to indicate the existence of the dents that were present. The U-Haul didn't seem to care much, and sent me on my way. After traveling less than an hour outside Anchorage in a snow storm, the trailer got a flat tire. I pulled into the nearest U-Haul location I could find, which happened to be Eagle River Body & Paint. I parked in their lot and contacted U-Haul roadside assistance. One of the employees of Eagle River Body & Paint came by to see if everything was OK. We explained the situation. He took one look at the tires and said that all four were wildly inadequate, and that he wouldn't let someone take a trailer to Fairbanks in that condition. He also noted that the trailer was hooked up incorrectly, and that the North Anchorage location had a reputation for this level of incompetence. We eventually got our tires replaced at the Eagle River Body & Paint Neighborhood Dealer location, which I would highly recommend.Dallas B.

Horrible communication, the cancellation process took way longer than it should have and it was practically impossible to ever reach a human there. The storage building smells horrible all the time, there's always garbage around. The storage room is dark, it's extremely hot on the 3rd floor. Not impressed with this location at all. The storage unit was like working in an oven or sauna. Unnecessary hot. After hours the sliding door did not work with my access code making it impossible to move things in and out after I got off work. On most occasions there where no carts available, and people parked right in front of the door, making it difficult to load my truck. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around, and weird people riding around on the carts inside the building. It was frustrating when we first started using the storage facility years ago. According to corporate policy they determine what units to open and when. We walked by 15-20 empty units to get to ours. I shouldnt have to pay extra to access my belongings after hours. i work 72 hours a week and accessing my unit before 7pm could be difficult to do. All the staff was great, but them not having a good telephone system or intra messaging system that working properly caused me stress trying to reach someone in the store. I kept getting reservations which they couldn't help me.
