I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with my recent U-Box experience. When I made the reservation, the agent provided inaccurate information about the box size and recommended movers, assuring me they were highly rated. However, upon their arrival, the movers lacked necessary tools, resulting in damage to building property and my furniture. They failed to use provided blankets, causing significant harm to my belongings, including scratches on expensive wood furniture and a broken drawer. Instead of using the blanket, he put them in his trunk. Additionally, they mishandled items such as my coffee table, nightstand, and exercise bike, resulting in irreparable damage. Furthermore, they left a mess in my home, demonstrating a lack of professionalism, one of the movers used the bathroom and peed all over the toilet seat and the floor. I am deeply disappointed by this experience and request prompt resolution of these issues.

Facility and staff overall great. Only issue is a big one, though. I changed my access code to revoke access to an ex-associate with whom I shared my unit. Somehow they were able to gain entry after changing the code. I also verified the old code works currently, as it absolutely should not. Door trim on driver side was damaged. I drove over 400 miles with the wind blowing in the door and being rained on when it rained, made for a very uncomfortable ride but other than that everything was perfect

Simply put, I did not have a good experience. There was trash left in the vehicle. It was parked in a way I could have damaged another U-Haul. Do better.

Customer service isn’t the best, I was not greeted by the associate working the desk. As I patiently waited for 5 minutes customers came in behind me the associate took the older lady that walked in (which the associate still hadn’t acknowledged me as I waited) . He had to many things happening at once and needed some help. He wasn’t working alone the other associate was somewhere and had the keys to the van I received which took an additional 10 mins. It was very unprofessional I appreciate the availability of the van but associates need accountability training and customer service training.

Almost everything was perfect with the reservation. The only issue I had was when I got back to drop off the vehicle, it was after hours and my personal car was blocked in. Luckily, I just had to move an advertisement sign and had to drive up over the grass to get out. If I had not been able to do that, it would've been extremely inconvenient.

Gas level was marked on the sheet at a different level than the actual amount in the truck, I refilled the amount to the original level and then was charged a $20 gas fee. Be careful, check the amount of gas in the truck before you take off or they will absolutely rip you off

I was offered a $25 fuel credit because the gas gauge showed 3/16 instead of the 1/4 shown in the contract when I picked up the truck. When I returned the truck I was only given $8 credit. Not worth my time to return to the location to fix it, but you owe me $17.

The entire experience was frustrating from end to end. I was sent several texts to register via the app ahead of time to get a free lock. I tried the app six times and an “error” kept occurring not slowing me to submit it. I called and they said they didn’t know what to do but rest assured I would have a unit when I showed up. When I did show up the lock showed up as a charge. He tried to give me an old lock first. And the entire transaction took entirely too long because the Store Manager was answering customer calls and handling associate issues while he was helping me. Then he didn’t explain how to use the elevators and we had to go all the way back inside to ask. Really frustrating when you are in the middle of a move, tired, and still looking at a 4-hr drive after.

The New Center hub location and customer service was great but overall the ease of experience and reliability of U-Haul as a company is poor, and I will seek out other alternatives in the future. Loved the location and service there, but the overall company ethos/contract made the move more stressful due to being worried about legal issues, being tracked and a not smooth process for renting on my own/unclear expectations/comfort about process. U-Haul could stand to invest more to put the customer first as a company like Amazon for instance and not treat us like a burden/liability.

The customer service person was very nasty from the very beginning . She would not make eye contact and said did not speak clearly. it took her 30 minutes to get me checked out. She did not explain anything about the truck as I was a first time user . The truck was blocked in the lot and had to wait ten more minutes for someone to move the other truck. that ran terrible and had air noise and badly needed shocks. She did not provide moving blankets that I charged for. When I called her back. She said I could come and pick them up but I tried to explain to her that I was 3 hours away. She also incorrectly put my drop off point in Marion Mi. not lake George, mi. as I told her .

One of the drivers backed into the U-Haul that I was driving because he was driving recklessly. The sales representative was inside uhaul getting the mileage, with the door open and almost hit her head on the door. I was shocked that he was speeding around the parking lot as if he was drag racing with the U-Haul‘s, unbelievable. I would not recommend U-Haul for that site.. plus there was damage to the rear right in of the U-Haul truck that did not show up on the photos on the website I did add a photo of the damage. I wouldn’t be surprised if the employee who was drag racing, the U-Haul‘s caused the damage.

I recently rented a truck from U-Haul and had a remarkably smooth experience. The truck itself was impressively clean and surprisingly easy to navigate, even for someone not accustomed to driving larger vehicles. I was particularly pleased with the convenience offered by U-Haul’s new center location, which significantly simplified the pickup and drop-off process. However, there was one aspect of my rental experience that proved to be less than ideal. The cabin of the truck was heavily perfumed, a challenge for someone like me who is highly sensitive to fragrances. This intense scent made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the driving experience. Thankfully, the situation improved when I opened the windows, allowing fresh air to dilute the overpowering fragrance. This was a perfect solution until it began to rain, presenting a new set of challenges. Despite this minor hiccup, my overall experience with U-Haul was positive. The quality of the service and the vehicle itself exceeded my expectations. I’d like to extend my gratitude to the team for their excellent service and for providing a vehicle that met my needs so well. I look forward to using U-Haul’s services again in the future and would recommend them to anyone in need of a reliable truck rental.

The staff have always been helpful at this location, and I've always been able to get the equipment I need. I am disappointed, however, in UHaul's increasing reliance on mobile websites/apps. It's a burden on the customer to have to take so many photos and navigate through all these pages just to begin your rental (even if you opted *not* to use "mobile check in"). If i'm renting a truck, chances are I've got a job to get done, and it's frustrating to have to spend so much time doing these tasks before I can get on the road.

Although the facility itself was pleasant, the wait time was ridiculous! Twice I was there w-a-i-t-I-n-g for roughly 1 1/2 hrs just to be waited on. My initial contract had so many mistakes and with the amount of time it took to resolve them, the manager graciously gave me the first month rent for free. There was also some frustration with the whole key card access to the elevator. Having to often go back outside to re-swipe and the call button not working. In addition, I was told I could make my monthly payment via the app. The app wasn't working, which resulted in a late fee, the inconvenience of having to go in and pay it. Then to go to the storage only to find the double lock still on it and having to go back to the office. It simply became frustrating. I am thankful for the Mgr and Ms. Dani (both at New Center, Detroit) who took the time to rectify my initial contract and to correct the wrong additional fee(s) made to the charge to my credit card. I am thankful that my time there is done as I didn't want to continue and it all remain stressful. Again, thxful for those who did help!

Delivery driver was rude and placed my stuff in a tow away zone. Luckily it was not towed. Manager of Detroit location canceled my order because of a scheduling error on uhauls behalf and then failed to un-cancel it for over a week. Customer support was largely unhelpful and didn’t take initiative in fixing the issue.

I had my belongings sold at auction without out notice I had that unit for about 7 years the manager is very rude and unprofessional I didn’t receive any notice with a auction date they have my email address and would contact me via email I received an email when they had sold my property. The staff are rude, and unknowable about questions about their facility. Noone was willing to help including the manager. I will never recommend or use any UHaul services anymore. Very disappointed as I've used UHaul in the past from time to time and used to be content with the services until now. Service here is downright deplorable.

Although I completed the online process, it was interrupted by an incompetent General Manager and his staff. I was set to move my belongings into the unit on January 15, 2024. Upon arrival, my code did not work and my access was denied. My moving helpers were paid by the hour and after several unsuccessful attempts, I went inside the store. The General Manager was present and assisted. He reviews my account only to discover that "a maintenance staff person" had cleared out by unit after I completed the online process on January 13, 2024, which include electronically signing a contract and paying the first month's rent. The General Manager then proceeds to ask for my emergency contact again so that he could reverse was apparently done. It's funny, I never received a move out communication after this so-called clear out had been completed. This is not my first encounter dealing with the incompetence by the General Manager. In December 2022, I moved out of an apartment and had store my apartment in a U-Box for a couple weeks until my apartment was ready. I was preparing to travel for the Christmas holidays and wanted to store a few items ahead of my travel. Upon arrival at the facility, I learn that my U-Box could not be located. It took nearly two hours to discover that they left my U-Box outside and by the date it was arctic weather, so my lock was frozen. It had to be cut open. These idiots left my U-Box in the elements for several weeks. I figured out that they it outside where I packed it. In the over 20 years of dealing with U-Haul in several states from Georgia, Washington, DC, and Maryland--I have never experienced such incompetence. And while they are willing to offer a free month and an apology, it just doesn't make up for the failure to do business in the manner that is U-Haul should be operating. I don't believe for one minute that a maintenance staff made that sort of error with a legal contract. Not one minute. The General Manager is simply in over his head. It is clear that he does not know how to operate this facility. The unfortunate circumstance is that Detroit city proper doesn't have the level of nationally known businesses in the city. This facility is one of two in the city proper. Detroit proper could use some good ole competition in the storage facility marketplace. I would love to see national brands such as Public Storage, Extra Space Storage and Cube Smart enter the Detroit city proper market (not the metro because those brands have locations in the suburbs). Detroit city has the infrastructure and the growing population for their to be fair competition and better offerings.

I have always used U-Haul for storage. This facility is very up to par, the workers there were awesome, and I got a really good deal on first month's rent.

The access was easy , the facility is clean , the staff is always helpful . I experienced the rate hike this year and not a fan of more out of pocket spending . There should be a lock-in rate for those who have used the storage for a certain amount of time , let's say 6 months or so .

The UHaul facility in Detroit, MI, located at Baltimore/Milwaukee is a phenomenal facility. The staff has great customer service. I've never had any bad interactions there. I've been using this storage facility for years! I'd like to give a major shoutout to one staff person in particular; Ms. Jones!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Ms. Jones is very accommodating and really takes customer service and satisfaction to a brand new level. If all employees of any company was as customer friendly as she, the world would look a lot different!

Jamal is fantastic! I prefer dealing with the in person staff at the Baltimore St, location versus the call center staff. The experience I had on the phone yesterday 11.29.23, was not friendly or helpful. The call center personnel need more training in tone and listening to clients. Keeping your facility clean, accessible and providing helpful friendly staff will ensure repeat business.

Process was impersonal and difficult to navigate. When rented the truck earlier in the day, I twice asked for clarification, and the U-Haul employee insisted that it would be clear via text… but then I still had questions later when moving in with no one there to help. The floor map never loaded for me and I didn’t know where to find the physical map. The double scan in system was very confusing the first time, and I watched 2 other people struggle with it while I was there. An alarm was going off in the main floor elevator bay the entire time I was there. There was a container of rat poison and a small amount of dirty water in my unit when first opened + trash on the floor in the hallway. I felt super misled by a promotion where I thought I was getting my first month’s storage fee waved because I’d booked a truck, but come to find out that the deal didn’t apply to my use case… but they was a main reason why I’d chosen U-haul in the first place. Also had a terrible experience with the self trick return process. Came out exhausted and deeply disappointed with U-haul

The app didn’t work half the time I tried to use it. I went into the office area at the facility to ask a question, and the person working just told me to do things on the app, while he was helping other customers. I said I could wait my turn because the app wasn’t working, and he continued to mumble things that I couldn’t hear. I asked him to speak up, and he sighed and continued his stream of mumbling. I walked out and asked the parking lot attendant for help, and he was as helpful as he could be for not knowing the full answers to my questions. I asked another employee for help, and he sighed and rolled his eyes before answering. When he did answer, he said it in a way that implied I’m just supposed to know these things. I understand the first of the month is exceptionally busy and you’re probably short staffed, but when your staff that are there aren’t interested in answering questions and tell me to use the broken app, it’s incredibly frustrating.
