JOHNNIE MThe staff were always great when I needed them. The facility was very clean and secure every visit. I seriously have no ideas for improvement as this was such a great storage unit. I've used three others, and this by far was the most impressive. I only ended my time because we bought a house and just no longer needed the extra storage. I told my sister to use them and not even bother looking at other options in town. I will definitely be using and recommending Uhaul storage units in the future. Specifically the New Bern, NC location.

Uhaul "customer service" is a joke, uhauls scheduling department for eastern NC which is located in VA is an absolute joke. I will tell every single person I know to never use this absolute comical joke of a company. I will never give uhaul another dime of my money. I will go out of my way to use any other company imaginable regardless of if it costs more. Sincerely, A lost customer for life

david bWent to move in and couldn't access the unit. Then the lock wasn't in the unit like it was supposed to be. Then I received an email the same day being moved out. Had to come back in and resign contract and check in. Now…3 days in a row we have gone to use our code and it says not checked in. We don't have time to be running into the office every time.

Balinda HWhen I arrived at the New Bern location, I was handed the keys to a truck that had a TPMS (low tire pressure) light on. The employee helping me, Ryan Massie, explained to me that he could not put air in the tire(s) because the air compressor had been broken 'for a couple of weeks'. For any reason, this was unacceptable, however, I was driving this truck 430 miles one way so there was no way I was taking it. I asked Ryan if he had a tire pressure gauge so I could check the tire pressures myself (Ryan had other customers in the building to take care of so I did not mind checking the tires myself). He quickly found a suitable gauge for me to use. I checked all 4 tires and found the pressures to be way off. Placard on the truck showed 80psi. 1 tire had 40psi, another had 90psi and 2 were on 80psi. I told Ryan I could not take the truck. At first Ryan told me this was the only 10ft truck he had. He did try 2 different phone numbers to call a manager for some help but got no response. Ryan then found another 10ft truck and asked me to wait a few minutes while he 'checked it in'. He brought that truck around and apologized for all the trouble and also apologized because the truck was not cleaned (it was quite acceptable). I thanked Ryan for doing a great job under pressure. I was very impressed with his willingness to solve the problem. I hope in writing this review that 2 things happen. 1, Ryan Massie gets acknowledged for his terrific handling of this situation and 2, that someone makes sure that the manager of the New Bern facility gets that air compressor fixed. Delisa C | Online Move InBUY SOME MORE EQUIPMENT SO YOUR FRONT-LINE EMPLOYEES DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS WHO ARE FRUSTRATED WITH THE COMPANY'S MANAGEMENT'S DEFICIENCIES. Picking up the car transporter was a comedy of errors, because: 1. I was not able to pick up the car transport until the day after my reservation, which put me behind in my work schedule. 2. I was assigned a transporter that was not heavy-duty enough to handle my car, in spite of the fact that I gave you the make and model of the car when I made the reservation. 3. I had to drive 60 miles from the house I was at to get the transporter, then drive it back another 60 miles to the house to finish loading things up. You owe me some gas money.

brenda rOnly suggestion would to have the fire ants exterminated. There are chemicals that would eliminate the problem. Fire ants can easily get into the stored boats, RVs, etc.

Jeffrey L | Overall ExperienceThe process of renting a motorcycle trailer was painless. More importantly, ratcheted tie downs, etc. were readily available as well. Return was even easier - pull-up, un-hook, drive away. U-Haul is a one stop shop, do not waste time looking for a better deal, if U-Haul cannot help, then it probably doesn't exist.

When I needed to pay with a check, the register wouldn't let the staff accept it. Greg had no problem if I wrote a check. Other than that, it was a clean, safe, climate controlled place to store my belongings.

Once you use your code to punch in, you can open a garage door, back into a bay, close the door behind you and unload in the climate controlled, secured building. There are cameras everywhere so I feel safe. The facility is spotless! There is a huge elevator to get to the upper floors. They provide plenty of carts lo load you things on. There is a restroom and drinking fountain. This place takes storage to the next level.

Staff on site was able to find an available unit and explained the system automatically changes the rental sometimes. If they would not have been able to find an available larger unit this would have been very difficult as I would have had to go somewhere else. Uhaul should notify people at initial booking if they have to give them 2 smaller units

katharine L | First ImpressionsI have utilized uhaul for YRS! Mostly bc they have bought up everything in ENC, making it almost impossible not to use them. I have had one storage with uhaul since 2017. It has DOUBLED in price WITHOUT warning in 6.5yrs. Covid has ZERO to do with my ability to store stuff, its an outdoor storage, so there is no temp control to use as an excuse for the price hike. People that have had the storage for whatever price, should be KEPT at the original price until such time they move their stuff out! JS!!! I recently moved & had to utilize an environmental control storage for a cpl months. The first month was free, (thankfully) bc i rented a trailer to move my stuff. It was temporary, but for the month i have had to pay for EXPENSIVE! Pros: one month free storage unit with use of truck/trailer rental. For the staff (2 friendly mature gentlemen) that were kind & helpful; ty! There is a bay to pull up into for loading/unloading. There were carts to use for transporting ur items to/from storage. They came in VERY handy!!! Cons: The storage could've used more lighting. Depended on the day for which staff were available. Some were friendly & knowledgeable, others seemed to care less. The environmental control storage is stupid expensive. Then the operating hrs aren't necessarily convenient: not everybody is up & working during "business hrs." Those few people have deadlines too; making 10pm cut off a VERY NARROW window to get things accomplished as far as moving in/out of storage. The younger staff need a LOT of edu on "GOOD customer service!" Overall, i would say its average with a LOT OF ROOM for improvement!!!!

One drawback was that there were several nails and screws on the ground outside of the area where you park your vehicle going into the storage units themselves. Construction on the inside of the climate controlled area made a dusty mess, that covered my storage items. Also, the last three non consecutive days of accessing my storage unit, I observed roaches scurrying in the hallway and restroom area. Overall, my experience was good, but I was not pleased with the construction dust, debris, or seeing roaches in the common areas.

My only complaint is whenever i set up my storage unit, i talked to the staff member and told them that at the time of my next payment due date, i would be unable to come in and pay and would not be able to access the website due to being out of state and very busy. They told me that they could help me set up an automatic payment through my bank account and that's what we did. The time came of when my unit rent was due and Uhaul did not automatically take it out and i was charged a late fee of 15$ - I called customer service and explained and they said that i wasn't set up with the automatic payment system but told me we can do it over the phone (which we did) - they ended up still charging me the 15$ on top of my original payment.

ROBERT A | First ImpressionsEverytime there the gentleman working was rude, grumpy and he had no help. The elevator was out of service in August and it was still in October. All of our things were heavy and on the 2nd floor. When someone pushes 3 for third floor it shuts the elevator down. Reported it to the local fire marshal and will be reporting it to the state elevator inspector. If they are not going to fix the elevator they should not rent units above ground level. Frustrated and will not use uhaul again. Many others felt the same way yesterday.
