I had scheduled an 8 am pickup for Sunday. I called Saturday,to verify pickup and specifically asked for information to get keys....figured I would get text or email with directions to get keys out of a locked box. Was told I had to do in person and that someone would be at work at 7 am. I submitted my drivers license and did online check-in. When got to facility, no one was there and I could not get truck until 9 am. This was extremely frustrating, as I had a 2 hour window of time to complete task truck was needed for. I think the process needs to be reviewed to avoid future confusion. I did online reservation and followed up with in person to verify steps. Was not satisfied with confusion.Valura L.

Multiple frustrations at this site, with the main one being - I reserved 2 storage units weeks ahead, then called 2 days before to confirm. When we arrived, the units were not available and was told they need to send us 40 miles away. I would never recommend this site and would hesitate to recommend Uhaul at all.Nedra F.

I reserved 2 storage units weeks in advance and called 2 days prior to arrival to confirm. When I arrived the staff informed me they did not have any available units but might have one available in 3 days. Then they wanted us to take the 26' truck with 12' trailer 40 miles away from the reserved location. The general manager was nasty, rude and actually stated that customer service doesn't have a clue what's going on in the facilities; even though it's the same company, same computer system, etc. She stated you make a reservation to be put on a list so that when a unit becomes available then you can rent it. I'm not sure what they expect you to do with furniture and belongings for a 4 bedroom home in the meantime. Last I knew, you make reservations so that when you need the item being reserved, it's available when you need it. Eventually, they were able to come up with some very small units. They units were littered with papers, the floors are dirty and there are large mouse/ rat traps in each (doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling). I would never recommend this location to anyone and would strongly question using U-haul at all.Nedra F.
Truck's AC had an issue. When turned on you can hear it running but nothing was coming out of the vents. Either the vents were not connected or the diverter was inoperable. But rough on an 82 degree day.Dennis L.

The Representative wasn't going to allow me to rent the appliance dolly because I wasn't renting a truck. I showed her my reservation number and she didn't trust that and had to call someone else. I feel that she is going to need more training on the products that you have to offer.JERRY D.

So you can pay a day rate and have the equipment for 24 hours. However if you think you will only need it for 12 and a giant severe thunderstorm comes and you may need it for 14. You will get charged for a whole additional day. If you have to screw over your customers to make money, then you need a new business model. Also please remove the dolly and padding. I didn't request it or need it, but it was in my way. Of course it can't be moved, or you get charged for breaking the seals. Again if you have to screw over your customers to turn a profit, you need new leadership.Joshua B.

I did receive a partial refund for this rental because this was a nightmare. Rental had to be picked up due to brakes failing. 4 hours to provide another truck. Scared thinking what could have happened if brakes completely failed.Karen S.

My husband was asked to hook up the trailer himself because the associate didn't know how. When he returned the trailer, it wasn't checked in for nearly 2 hours and we had to call and wait for customer service for an extremely long time before the situation was rectified. The sales rep that rented the U-Haul told us that they did not use reservations when we had already made a reservation with U-Haul had our reservation number had all of our information refused to take it then screwed up and put it as a as it was coming back when it should've been a one-way we wanted it for seven days it was only put in as one day told us that was no big deal we could return the U-Haul in seven days there would be no extra charge which was not true ended up having to call you U U-Haul and dealing with it and there wasn't much they could do but they were amazing and helped us when the location itself would not do anything store manager of the Middletown location was supposed to call the next day after I had spoke to U-Haul she never called her he never called I was told they were in a meeting and could not speak to me right away and that they would 100% called the next day if I did not pick up they would leave a voicemail this never happened over all this was the worst horrible experiences that we ever had If it had not been for the drop off location we would've been out money and then they on top of that it looked as if the truck was never picked up from Middletown when he was sitting in our yard and the lady from the pick up location how to fix that alsodarren M.
First attempt was two days earlier and the lady at the counter insisted that I needed a major credit card to rent a trailer. I told her I have been renting trailer from you for the last five yrs on my debit card....your website doesn't agree with that statement. The next day I used same card on line and brought by credit card with me just incase different person at counter and never asked for credit card..so definitely an opportunity to trainkenneth T.

The customer service is not good. I sat in the truck waiting for an employee to come out as the sign said to do. No one came out. After going in I was not greeted; I greeted them. Them was told just leave the keys in the truck and I'm good. I had to rent from Middletown because the closest location did not have the unit when promised due to the prior renter not returning on time. Not U-Haul's fault, but frustrating to be inconvenienced due to another's inconsideration.Mark N.

I have had good experience with U-Haul and have used them in the past, and even though this experience wasn't as good, I will still continue to use U-Haul in the future. I receive different information when making a reservation, at the pickup location, and then it's a drop off location. I held my reservation was a card but paid in cash. When I called for reservations they said that was fine with no other information. When I picked up a truck I was told I had to make a $100 deposits and paying cash, and with a one-way move money was tight was not expecting that or told previously. They did say I would receive the deposit when I returned the equipment at the drop off destination. When I returned the truck they said that they were going to mail me deposit return. I have family around that was able to help otherwise the extra money would have been an issue and cause extreme difficulties. But in the end it all work out and as I mentioned I will continue to use U-Haul but it did put a lot of stress on the trip and make me feel bad having to ask my family to help outTimothy R.

Needs more personnel. There was one guy running the desk and having to deal with all the rentals. A line of 8 people occurred while I was waiting, and each person took 10-15 minutes to deal with. I came in for a 9am reservation pick-up and didn't leave until after 9:40. I had to be somewhere with truck at 10am. Lots of scratches along side of truck that weren't claimed in prior pictures. Who cracks an FM radio screen? Whatever, job is done. The touch less key pickup through app never worked. Still had to go in and wait in line for a key. Just wasted so much time.Brandon C.

The gentleman who helped me get all set up was amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is they forgot to remove their red lock from the unit before renting it to me and it took about 30 minutes for them to remove it. The manager made sure all the people who came in after me were helped before removing the lock which could have been done between between. It's been well over 8-12 hours and I have yet to receive any final receipt of rental. No nothing that says why I was charged extra or anything. You all were happy to take my money but you can't tell anyone why.Alissa M.
When I arrived this morning I got my key and found my truck. I turned it on to let it warm up and went to the back to load the appliance dolly. The back door was completely frozen shut. I went and got my own scrapper and chipped the ice away, and it was still stuck. I then went back inside to ask if there was something they could do and the employee said she had already checked that the door opened. I informed her that it was frozen shut. When she went outside she said she had gotten the wrong truck ready. She proceeded to spray some type of de-icer on the door and told me I would have to probably wait 5-10 minutes before it would open. And she left. It took everything I had to finally open the door. I finally got on my way, and ten minutes down the road I noticed the heat/air wasn't working. Nothing was working. No heat when the temperatures were in the low 20s. So I had to turn around and go back to get a truck that actually had heat. I wasted about an hour of my day due to your employees incompetence. When I returned the vehicle the employee on duty was just as incompetent and offered no apology or attempt to make up my horrible experience. I will NOT be returning to this facility.Otto B.

I was told that that was a big unit I rented and I could barely get my washer and dryer and couch in Theresa well as 6 medium boxes! We spent over 3 hours trying to cram everything in there and rearrange the few items we was storing! When COVID struck and people weren't making their regular income, such as myself, I got no help in trying to save my unit. It was over priced, but the only thing available to me at the time. They weren't willing to take payments on my balance. Only wanted full payment which I simply wasn't able to do, due to lesser hours being worked. My unit was sold because I just couldn't afford to pay the balance. So I had to let family heirlooms go. Very saddened and unhappy with my experience. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. The man who processed my transaction Sunday morning was shockingly rude. He seemed to have no idea what he was doing and got bitey with me when I asked questions about my rental agreement. I reserved a unit online and he told me it didn't exist, even when I offered to show him a screenshot of the confirmation page. He instead tried to get me to buy a much larger one (at over 50% of the cost of what I'd ordered) without mentioning that another, only slightly larger, one (just $5 more) was available. I had to specifically ask if this was the case and only then did he conveniently find a comparable alternative in the system after I stood at the counter waiting for at least 15 minutes. When I told him I was having trouble getting the green zip tie off the door and asked if he had a pair of scissors I could borrow, he laughed at me, rolled his eyes, and smugly told me I needed to use my hands.
