Registration was screwed up: I reserved for 9 days, charged for 9 days, but when I saw the contract it was due back next day. I had to spend 45 minutes contacting customer service to fix it. I reserved the smallest trailer back in March yet someone it wasn't available even with that much advanced noticed. I injured myself handing the larger trailer.Brian S.

My only complaint with the location is the entry/exit area. It's easily missed and the road you get into when leaving the site is a one way so it's inconvenient. Other than that, service was good.FRANCIS T.

The U-Haul storage lock was never removed therefore I had trouble getting a hold of customer service due to them closing two hours early and I had to pay an extra day for my truck due to the inconvenience of a lock. I could not unload my truck until 24 hours later.BONNIE Y. | First Impressions

The truck was very old and not well maintained. Suspension poor, the drivers door didn't close shut and water intrusion. Vehicle had a quarter tank of gas when I picked it up.Used 7 miles per gallon.Time to retire the heap.WILLIAM A.
Scheduling and In-store Staff awere helpful. There was no fence securing storage area and it was accessible via side street. The store looked fine; however, the storage area was located behind an old vacant building which made the area look like a JUNK YARD. I in and moved out a few days later. I was forced to pay movers twice and cancelled my 1 month FREE unit. I paid for 2 trucks due to difficulty trying to communicate from out of state via telephone with local Methuen facility questions. Price of 1st truck was billed for two days intentionally then refunded later. Change in location of 1st truck caused me to have find new mover helpers after truck was in hand. Price of 2nd truck was $200 more than online quote 1 week earlier. SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNT should be given for horrible experience due to lack of communication with local facility. Now I am being bill toll violations when I have made numerous calls to proactively pay tolls. Admin fees should be credited. I was told that I would be emailed or texted when tolls were posted which I could pay right away to avoid fees. No emails or texts fro U-Haul have been received and a violation was posted.Gwendolyn E. | Overall Experience

I don't know the young lady's name, but I picked up my truck in Methuen MA and the young lady working there was so sweet, welcoming, and, most importantly, efficient at her job. Upon my return of the truck, she told me she usually works at the Danvers, MA location, but was just filling in at the Methuen store. Anyway, I checked in and was literally on the road in the truck that I reserved in about 3 minutes. So speedy!! I completed my errand and returned the truck and this same young lady, whose name I never got (which I regret) was still there at the drop off. The moral of my review is that the young woman who was working at the Methuen MA uhaul today was fabulous! Uhaul is great and your trucks are efficient and reliable but your employees make a huge difference!! Again, don't know her name but she does a great job and probably deserves a raise!KATHLEEN R.

I was frustrated when I learned that my reservation was transferred to a different location further away and was not called. I spoke with customer service who explained the situation with U Haul locations very busy and short on rentals. The rep was very patient and kind and I appreciated the honesty. With that being said, I was not looking forward to going down to pick up my trailer. I Expected a long wait and possibly to not even have the trailer available. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a smile from Darrel Smith. From beginning to end of the check out process, Darrel was awesome. He did a great job getting everything together for us and was very professional and patient. He got us all set up and offered for me to keep the trailer a little longer than I reserved since we had to drive further to return it. When we dropped off it was after hours but the crew was still there. I did the online self check in that Darrel mentioned to me which was quick and easy. While checking in, another employee came over and helped me disconnect the trailer. Darrel and his team made the whole experience awesome and because of him I will continue to rent from U-Haul and am even willing to drive the extra 20 minutes out of my way and past 4!!!!! other U Haul locations that are much closer just to work with that team again. You need to fix your rental system so that it isn't possible for people to rent a truck online and it not be available when they go there to pick it up. I was assured the truck would be there but it was re-routed to someone else. There also needs to be a clear communication between the managers commitment to a price and the system at the top level on what gets charged. I have to fix the billing for my contract now.MASON M.
The location was short staffed, especially compared to the drop off location in Alcoa. We never got the furniture dollies we ordered. Loading the auto hauler alone was also a bit daunting.Kenneth W.

We rented a 12 foot trailer for a long distance move. Unfortunately, when we opened the trailer doors there were several cockroaches inside. Immediately took it back to the store, and they replaced it with another trailer that was bug free! Overall good experience MINUS the roaches!NICOLE S.

Communication could have been much better. But everyone was polite and helpful when contact was made. U-Box container arrived at destination Uhaul facility on time, but was actually delivered one day late (due to apparent error at receiving facility, which they apologized for). At receiving end, communication between Uhaul and Moving Help trucker was initially deficient (nor was customer called to arrange/confirm delivery), requiring customer to have to make all final delivery arrangements, including processing of payment to trucker (I am still not sure if that part was completed) Again, everyone involved was friendly and helpful when reached. But waiting time on hold for the Uhaul contact phone # could often be 30 minutes or more, and Moving Help has no phone number to call, making contacts difficult when issues came up. If the original communications had been better, the entire process would have been great, because the U-box itself worked out very well, and everyone contacted tried to be helpful.Saul B.

Two young males were at the counter. One was helping a customer, the other (new employee) was on his phone and not only didn't acknowledge us, but was zombie-like in his response when addressed. When the other clerk was able to assist us, he gave very poor direction to where the storage unit was located. He also gave the wrong unit number so we had to wait until he resolved that issue. All while we waited in the 90 degree sun and 3 paid helpers standing around for 30 minutes while he figured things out. Once the correct unit was opened, it was dirty with leaves, dirt, screws and big piles of what looked like spider eggs. They should at least sweep them out before a new customer uses them. The price is great, but I would pay more for even just the basics mentioned here.Sharon L. | First Impressions

So far, our experience has been very good. The only thing that has made the experience less than perfect is that there has only been one staff person to help in what appears to be a high-traffic establishment. That put the staff person under a lot of pressure. He had to keep us waiting while he took care of other customers, as he would have to leave the office to escort us to the storage unit at the far end of the lot. My only suggestion is that you print up flyers that detail such things as the rules and rates for using the Dumpster, and advising people to photograph a truck before they leave the lot - the same information that comes to the phone as you're about to drive out. (The truck information/suggestion is in regard to a different night when we rented a truck, but at the same place with the same staff person. )SUZANNE J. | First Impressions

I scheduled a trailer hitch installation online a few weeks ago. When I showed up on time, I found out it couldn't be done because the only one who does it - the general manager - was out on vacation. The person at the desk was very nice and gave me the manager's card and said I could try calling/texting him. I texted him, but no response in 3 days. I needed the hitch soon for a vacation of my own and was lucky to find another location that could do the work 45 minutes away. (Concord, NH U-Haul gets 5 stars.) I then returned to Methuen U-Haul to ask about a refund. The person I spoke to earlier that morning was no longer there, replaced by someone (alone) who usually works at a different U-Haul (while the manager is out on vacay!) He seemed very competent, but frustrated at the state of the Methuen store. The customer he was helping ahead of me was trying to pick up a U-Box that had apparently vanished. He couldn't help me and said I needed someone who worked at the store, so come back another time. This morning, I got an email telling me I received a refund to my credit card, but it's for less than half of what I paid. I'm not really sure what type of math they used to arrive at the number they refunded me since it has no relation to any of the parts of service I paid for.Margaret F.
Although the U-Haul pod did not arrive when specified, Kyle went over and beyond to make sure I did get it that day. Communication was good. Jess, who transported the pod to my new home and then collected it was a very cheerful and competent driver. Moving is so stressful, that it was a relief to be treated as an individual. Do yourself a favor and take a photo of the odometer reading at pickup and drop off. We were charged an additional $100 for milage we didn't use. When we called customer service their response was did we have proof of the odometer reading.... consider yourself warned.Jerry S.

Let me know ahead of time when something is wrong with the equipment I'm getting instead of telling me the day of. When I got to this location, the wiring harness was stolen from the trailer, so I had to go to a different location to get it. I was moving down the east coast the next day and was on a schedule.
