Uhaul was able to change our date for delivery and pick up from our house. We were unable to move up the shipping date with the carrier. Luckily for us they did deliver it early. Overall we were very pleased with the ubox experience. We have recommended it to many people moving to our new community and would use it again ourselves.

Ian R.Everyone working at the location in Methuen, MA was excellent. Everyone was super kind and helpful, but it was clearly understaffed. My issue was with the shipping/arrival and the Traffic Control Manager, Morgan I spoke to over the phone and via email to coordinate the mess that was delivery. My containers were supposed to arrive at my apartment in Arden, NC on July 10 - as guaranteed by the U-Haul booking systems online. I was called the Friday before, 7/7, to confirm my drop off location and date but at that time was told the driver would call me back to confirm an ETA the day before the shipment. I didn't receive a phone call since that Friday call, so I reached out the morning of July 10, at about 8AM to get an ETA for our drop off. I was told at that time that there wasn't an ETA yet but I was on the schedule for delivery and it would show up between 8:30AM - 5:00PM. I stressed the need for an ETA because I was trying to coordinate movers that I had booked through your website to help me unload. The person, Morgan seemed to understand and told me she'd reach out shortly. I didn't hear anything for several hours until I called back at 12:30PM asking what the situation was, considering I was told I would be called back, and I'm still trying to coordinate movers. At that time, Morgan told me that my ETA was now Thursday - 7/13. The delivery of everything we had to move into our new apartment had changed from day of to 3 days later in a matter of 4 hours. Unacceptable. I started to ask how this could be possible after telling me earlier that same day that my containers with my entire apartment would be there at some point throughout the day. Morgan was entirely unwilling to admit any fault or wrongdoing in the lapse of communication and scheduling. I then asked how do we remedy this, as well as getting some money back since the containers are not where they are supposed to be guaranteed according tho their booking. I was told "The containers are at their delivery destinations" despite the containers being over an hour away and not even at the local U-Haul. Morgan then proceeded to tell me that there's nothing she can do and there's other customers that are also waiting on their things because they only have one driver and the other truck broke down, so I'm not the only one waiting. I explained to Morgan that I'm sorry those happened, but they aren't my issues. U-Haul shouldn't make promises of deadlines if they're unable to deliver on them and I want a refund for every day late. Morgan then tried to tell me that the confirmation emails, phone calls and website didn't mean that I was entitled to the money back because they weren't "guarantees". I went back and forth through several emails asking why are confirmation emails sent if they don't mean anything, also pointing to several emails and phone calls (which they claim are recorded and can be reviewed) that I've been told I would receive my things on 7/10. Eventually Morgan agreed to give me one day back ($50) - and my containers would arrive the next day (7/11), rather than Thursday (7/13). My wife and I slept on yoga mats and a blanket we luckily had in our cars since all of our bedding was in these boxes. The next morning I called to check on the ETA. The woman at that time told me that I was on the schedule and it'd be between 8:00AM - 5:00PM. I explained that this really wasn't good enough because again, I have movers that I'm trying to schedule to help us unload the containers. I needed an actual ETA to provide to them. I then asked for Morgan, since she was the manager I was dealing with - but she was busy and would provide me an ETA shortly. Again - I had to call back to get an accurate ETA and I was told I would see them before 12:00PM. The containers finally arrived at about 12:45 7/11. I would not recommend using U-Haul to anyone going forward, and will not be using them myself for any moving or storage needs. Overall my experience was not good - and I'd be embarrassed if I was on U-Haul's side of the situation. As a customer I was told that confirmation emails and phone calls actually don't matter and I should just deal with the issues that come with not hiring enough people, poor planning, lack of communication and accountability while handling all of our belongings. It's insulting, disrespectful and dishonest. I'll use a service that treats me more than an inconvenience going forward.
Stephen T.Everything went well for pickup but delivery went horribly wrong. The Movers Help company “You Pack I Haul†claimed they had delivered the U-box but did not. Luckily Janice Danielson was able to track down the U-box and help me find a much better Movers Help company, “All the right moves†which was awesome. Chris was on time and even helped us unload. Between Janice and Chris, they really saved the day.

I had no previous indication that I would have to do a selfie, take pics of my license, etc. in the parking lot before I could get the truck...the online process was tedious and temperamental. Then I had to drive around and search for my truck...it took two laps around the building to find it. And then it wasn't parked in a convenient spot. Then I needed to go in to get the key...which they couldn't find. So I ended up with another truck, and now I had to drive around and find that one. I did the online reservation for convenience. Ironically, it was the most inconvenient experience. This location is super close to me. I hope my next experience is much better.But next time, I'll do face-to-face.

I was also over billed for an extreme amount of miles that was impossible as I didn't drive anywhere near the amount claimed. I called to argue charges and was told someone would call me to discuss and no one has and its been 2 weeks.. Uhaul continues to try and take money out of my account even thought I am arguing the charges. This seems like a total scam and uhaul is adding mileage to make more money..when I called to argue the additional charges, I was asked by the operator if i had proof of the mileage I drove? Did I take a picture of the spedometer when I got in and out of the truck? I didn't realize that was something I had to do cause I didn't realize I was going to be scammed!!!! Not a happy customer!
PennieJean D.On your contract and the associate mentioned, that i needed to download the Uhaul app if i dropped off after closing. NEVER was it mentioned to me on the contract OR orally that i needed to do this WHEN i dropped it off. So i dropped it off. ...Long day of moving. Exhausted read the contract directions. and then got angry. Not only did I NOT want to down load the app..... but did it..... have you all my info....set up a profile(after moving furniture all day) .... come to find out i have to pay the$20 any way because there was no way i was going back to the place to TAKE A FREAKIN' VIDEO! At 9 at night AFTER MOVING ALL DAY!!! Please be more explicit at the beginning what is needed at the end! Your directions should read down load the app before you leave the parking lot, as you will be required to take a FREAKIN' VIDEO tonight after you have been moving all day and you won't want to come back after you get home and down load the app.

My rental vehicles were always available as scheduled which does not always happen making things as smooth as possible ! The outside storage was accessible, well lit and clean! I felt safe no matter what time I popped by! If you’re looking for storage or a rental - call them 1st! You won’t be disappointed..

(They were still building the units; I was an early bird customer). But when I went online to pay for the second month I learned that the first month was not free and was overdue and even was charged a late fee. I had so much going on at the time that I never tried to inquire. I just paid it. But, it was not a good experience. Especially, after I had spent so much with the bins and moving truck for many days, etc.etc. Since you're asking I'm telling you this story. I never called UHaul. They also kept charging me for months for two Uboxes after I had returned those two. I got that finally straightened out so they stopped charging me but never got reimbursed for the wrongfully charged months. It doesn't seem right but who has the time to call, be on hold for a long time, keep getting connected to someone else and have to tell the story over and over then wait days and days lol. So, it is what it is I guess. Since you are asking this was my experience. Otherwise, it's good.

The unit was clean, no rodent droppings, and no musty odor. We just moved everything out and into our home. I was quite relieved that there was no cobwebs or odors on anything! We showed up to get the truck only to find the larger size truck we reserved was not available. NOR were the unit sizes we reserved. Instead of making one trip with the big truck, it took two trips in the smaller truck. Squished household items and boxes into the smaller units. About two months later, I stopped by the unit to retrieve an item, only to find out the units my items were in were were NOT in the climate controlled section of the building. Pest Control box was INSIDE one of the units. "You need to let us know if a critter gets in the box, as we don't have access to your unit and the critter can't get out. It will die and smell." said the young sales associate at the counter that I spoke to. I inquired about moving to a section of the building that had climate control, only to be told there was a 25+ person waiting list. EXASPERATED. I found a new storage company, hired movers (again) and moved my items out of Uhaul. Needles to say I am disappointed with my experience at this facility. Q#4 Where the Staff Helpful/Friendly - courteous, yes. But they did not seem concerned with my plight about not having the reserved truck, or the reserved units not being available, size of the wait list to access the climate controlled section of the facility. Q#5 Was the facility clean and well maintained? For the most part yes The facility presents as being neat. However, it was very obvious that there were mice in the facility based on the visible droppings in the hallways. (refer back to comment about pest control box inside unit)

After I agreed to put gas in the truck I was renting, they refunded me an amount less than what I had to spend, even though I had my receipt as proof of how much I was going to be reimbursed. The second thing for which I am very upset is that they had offered me the rental of the truck for a certain amount and in the end I ended up paying double, according to the employee that was something established but I had no knowledge about it.

I asked for smaller unit because I only had two items that need storing. This past month, October, my payment is due on the 30th of each month, it was October 1,2021, you placed a lock on my unit for being one day late. The place is very clean and secure, but your employees, customer service, and hours there are horrible. Examples, it would take me times that I help because I card not working over half hour, with nobody there. Then there is the hours, there is uhaul employees either not there on hours of operations or they have door lock and they are inside. I am glad I’m out of there and I will not go back k to that uhaul.

The store looked fine; however, the storage area was located behind an old vacant building which made the area look like a JUNK YARD. I in and moved out a few days later. I was forced to pay movers twice and cancelled my 1 month FREE unit. I paid for 2 trucks due to difficulty trying to communicate from out of state via telephone with local Methuen facility questions. Price of 1st truck was billed for two days intentionally then refunded later. Change in location of 1st truck caused me to have find new mover helpers after truck was in hand. Price of 2nd truck was $200 more than online quote 1 week earlier. SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNT should be given for horrible experience due to lack of communication with local facility. Now I am being bill toll violations when I have made numerous calls to proactively pay tolls. Admin fees should be credited. I was told that I would be emailed or texted when tolls were posted which I could pay right away to avoid fees. No emails or texts fro U-Haul have been received and a violation was posted.

One was helping a customer, the other (new employee) was on his phone and not only didn't acknowledge us, but was zombie-like in his response when addressed. When the other clerk was able to assist us, he gave very poor direction to where the storage unit was located. He also gave the wrong unit number so we had to wait until he resolved that issue. All while we waited in the 90 degree sun and 3 paid helpers standing around for 30 minutes while he figured things out. Once the correct unit was opened, it was dirty with leaves, dirt, screws and big piles of what looked like spider eggs. They should at least sweep them out before a new customer uses them. The price is great, but I would pay more for even just the basics mentioned here.

The only thing that has made the experience less than perfect is that there has only been one staff person to help in what appears to be a high-traffic establishment. That put the staff person under a lot of pressure. He had to keep us waiting while he took care of other customers, as he would have to leave the office to escort us to the storage unit at the far end of the lot. My only suggestion is that you print up flyers that detail such things as the rules and rates for using the Dumpster, and advising people to photograph a truck before they leave the lot - the same information that comes to the phone as you're about to drive out. (The truck information/suggestion is in regard to a different night when we rented a truck, but at the same place with the same staff person. )
