First off, The Manager was the best they got here. I was surprised on how bad the other employees were. I don't know if they were new, but I had pretty bad service and everyone had to rely on the manager. Overall the location itself is decent. However there's always only ONE COUNTER OPEN. This always causes LONG DELAYS. Two counters should ALWAYS BE OPEN. And the TRUCK HAS ISSUES: The steering is vague and WANDERS/ The outside mirrors are loose and CONSTANTLY MOVE while driving/ sometimes the TRANSMISSION STICKS AND DOESN'T WANT TO UPSHIFT. I entered all my info online, then had to do it again when I got there. When I was there I had to scan my license myself with my phone instead of just handing to the guy at the desk. (Then the last sep on the app didn't work, so I had to just give my ID to the guy anyway). After I completed everything, only then was I told that insurance was mandatory for vans, but not box trucks, even though online I was able to decline insurance on the van, so I had to start all over again. You have all this technology available but you somehow use it to make your entire process twice as complicated and take twice as long. When I complete my reservation online. I really should just walk in, show my ID, and be handed a key.Philip S.

After picking up my Ubox from Uhaul in Logan Square Chicago and driving to my destination with my Ubox, I was unable to open the box due to Uhaul cutting my padlock off and replacing it with their own WITHOUT MY PERMISSION and with NO communication about the matter. Uhaul did not provide a key to it, so there was no way for me to unlock it and retrieve my items without going back to Uhaul in Logan Square Chicago to get them to take the lock off. Uhaul in Logan Sqaure Chicago also did not have the key and ended up taking the screws off of the lock to let me in. I was charged with all the mileage of coming back to Uhaul for them to open the box and return to my apartment to unload my items. After being told I would be charged for all mileage used (even though I had to drive more miles due to Uhaul changing my lock without permission), I was charged and told there was nothing they could do about it. They also did not try to find out why my padlock was replaced and I received no explanation on the issue and no refund for my padlock. The manager would not pick up my calls or call me back after I left a voicemail to resolve the issue. The customer service was horrible, unhelpful, and unapologetic. I hope I never have to use Uhaul again.Tristen K.

The cup holder was wet like someone spilled something. The floor was dirty in both cabin and storage. It smelled like cigarettes in the cabin. It was obvious nobody cleaned it before we got it rented to us. The gas was just under 1/4 when we got it but we had to return it above 1/4 or get heavily penalized.Christian Q.

I recommend effectively communicating with the staff my experience could have been a train wreck! I authorized for automatic payments to be deducted from my credit card and the employee was very professional and courteous forgot to hit the back, he was working diligently fielding the phones and checking in customers. I was receiving delinquent notices and late fees but after a vigorous diligent approach it was resolved, that is not a good feeling being accused of not following protocols and being penalized for someone's else's error. The experience I had with this location was very different from the experience I had with the Los Angeles U-haul. It was very difficult to get a hold of a representative at the Logan Square location to set up access to my box. I was consistently put on hold for 30-45 minutes every time I called, and was even hung up on twice. The phone service at this location is abysmal. When I did physically go to the location to gain access to my box, it was apparent why this was the case. For being called "The Fortress," this U-haul location seems to be sorely understaffed. There was only one representative to help customers and answer the phone. While I was waiting in line, the phone was constantly ringing. I guess I can't really blame the employees for not answering the phone when they are bombarded with people in line. Another thing that seemed to be amiss was that my box was left out overnight because the forklift drivers left for the day. This ended up working out for me because I wanted to empty my box ASAP so as not to be charged another month's rent. However, this seems unacceptable considering I paid one month's rent upfront to have my box stored securely. Lastly, when I finished emptying my box, I informed the office representative that I was finished and that all moving blankets had been returned inside the box. I asked him to close my reservation so that I would not be charged any other fees. However, the next day my account was still showing that I was going to owe another month's rent in 2 days time. Again, I called, only to be put on hold for 30 minutes and have my called dropped. When I finally got a representative on the phone, I had to explain the situation and verify that I wanted to close my reservation so I would not be charged additional rent. Overall, moving is stressful enough, and having to go through a business that is understaffed and doesn't seem to cover it's bases adds additional undue stress. I have mixed feelings about using U-haul again in the future given this experience.Sara R.

The reason for me moving from this facility after so many years is that the management has poor communication skills I have called him numerous times text him left him messages and also left him messages with the front desk and there is no communication the manager to this vicinity is very irresponsible he cannot help me with my situation so I relocated my vehicle to a better establishment. I started my transaction online at a dealer near me and got kicked to the store. However, the products/accessories I ordered were not part of my truck rental. Jarrett rented me a unit and didn't take the lock off. He left for the day. My items just laying out at the dock. I'm sleeping in the truck because I couldn't get back in. The Hispanic guy that helped at the service desk was great. The printer was down but he was awesome in trying to relay the transparency with uhauls rental information. Guy at the desk 12 out of 10. The facility for storage, the docks were dirty had bottles and trash blowing around. This was most likely from garbage humans just emptying their cars of trash on the floor. Maybe put some trash cants around the area? And a sign that says (Please help keeping our facility clean do not litter). Also the storage unit floor had something black and sticky and it got all over the end of my couch. Because I had the couch standing up on end. Maybe occasionally wash and clean the storage rooms after every 6months of use.? I have been a Uhaul customer for over ten years, renting trucks and storage facilities to move myself, my former wife, and two of my grown children. Always very satisfied. The team at Fullerton in Chicago this week was excellent! JC at the front desk was patient and professional. He gave me clear directions on how to find and access my new unit. When I got lost, Carlos in the warehouse took the time to walk me to the access point and showed me where to park, how to use the garage door and lift, and where to find the carts and elevator. Michelle on the second floor was friendly and responsive in helping get an alternate storage unit. In every way, a great local team at Fullerton. This does not happen my accident. That's why I asked for the manager and thanked him. At the Uhaul national level, I have been very frustrated the last ten days with this truck rental for a move to a different state. I did not realize how crazy-busy Uhaul is during the summer. I also realize that many companies are having a difficult time hiring and maintaining good staff. I can never seem to be able to talk with a local office. This is not an accident. It seems like a process system. After several rings, calls always go to the national office. Long wait times, with calls sometimes dropped. I get conflicting information from different agents at the national office. Quality of service is inconsistent in terms of knowledge and focus on helping the customer. Two days ago (July 12) I spent 90 minutes in the hot sun trying to get access to my truck rental. The local pick up was a convenience store with one employee who could not help me. Three calls to get a national office agent on the phone to help me were completely unsuccessful. I finally gave up, overheated, exhausted, and very annoyed with Uhaul national office. Uhaul lost a truck rental, and I lost half a day. H we lo buttons on elevators and hallway s are never answered. No one is ever there to assist you once around storage compartments. 4 th floor bathroom door doesn't shu completely for privacy. . Also there should be "do not block " signs on those 3 brown garage style doors towards the back of the facility. People keep blocking other customers in . Another thing, when you call your general number, why would you have a pre recorded message with a guy sounding like he's answering your live call. The message starts off with him pausing after he thanks you for calling Uhaul making you answering him back. This Orta Tate's an already frustrated customer that never can get a hold of a live person when calling you number. Hire more people.
