Everyone at the Johnson City u haul location was an absolute jerk. I was forced to rent and drive a 26 foot truck for double the price of the vehicle that I had a reservation for. Because of this I was not able to rent the u haul for as long as I needed it, and besides that I was treated with complete disrespect. You need to hire better people. This is totally unacceptable and I will be using a different company next time I have moving needs.Isaac C.

I wouldn't recommend this location to a friend or family member, I will not ever be renting a truck there anymore! It was Really hard driving the truck, and Why? because the truck needed alignment, and it was a lot of play, shaking, Hard to keep it on the road, my daughter killed a roach in the front of the passenger seat! Trailer had lots of oil/fluid on floor and supports. I would not let me son help on the front to avoid him getting dirty and needed to use towels on my driver seat to avoid damaging leather.Mark M.

The truck we received had no air conditioning for a 400 mile trip in hot weather. The truck was very damaged all over and did not run well to include a loud exhaust leak. Due to this experience I will not rent a vehicle again from UHAUL. The trip was miserable in this vehicle.Paige W.

When I made my reservation on August 17, I picked a location that was close to where I was moving from. I selected a pickup time of 7pm. Well, my reservation day comes and I get a call at 320pm from a VERY RUDE lady saying that the location I picked isn't open until 7pm and I need to be there by 430 to get my rental. I couldn't do that, I'M MOVING and had a lot of other things going on as well. I ask to have my reservation moved to the city I'm moving to, an hour away, so that I can get the truck at 7pm when I have movers coming to load my stuff. She moves it and I asked why I was called so late in the day when I had the reservation for two weeks and you rudely says, "we are busy and have called people all day." I don't even know what to say about that agent. I work in customer service and would let my employee go for talking to my customer that way. I called and talked to a Karen because I now need more miles than I originally got and she was great! Got me in touch with a person in the scheduling department and she wasn't nice but was helpful. I now have to Uber from my new home to UHaul, $30.25, so that I can get the truck because I have no one here to help me. I get to the UHaul location and the experience was eJennifer H.
Counter transactions can take a very long time. This is not the fault of the employees. Your online systems, which are bulky, do not seem to assist your employees by giving them head starts. Once again, I was asked questions at the counter I had answered online. Your systems need to help your folks.THOMAS L.

they are misleading about their rental agreement because i rented the truck for 2 days assuming that they rates are for the number of days that you use their vehicle not miles. they charged on total miles and number of days you use their vehicle which is misleading because who knows how many miles you drive during the days that you drive. i will never use their service again.John B.

I was to drop off at East stone drive but they were extra extra slow and pretended to not know job. I went and set on line. I had workers waiting to put in storage. It took over 30 min to tell me the unit #. The mover had to increase one hr. Said u haul would not do less the mover lose the gate card. I called uhaul and they put me on call back but I had left before they called. The storage unit was also not what they told Me in scheduling. They cost me $74. They made me have to pay extra hour because of their performances . They tried to tell me they could only use a picture of my driver license not my actual license. I will never use this store for truck rental. I think they did that on purpose to get more labor hrs. I had plenty of time to off load if they had preformed It took only less than 30 min to load.Delta C.

I had reserved the truck and furniture dollies a week before I needed it. However, when I arrived, they told me that they were out. If Iwas able to reserve them, I would expect that they would have been set aside for me. We were able to manage, but the dollies would have made it easier. If someone reserves equipment, there is an expectation that it will be available. Please do this.David M.

I returned the Uhaul a day early but still was charged the three day rate. I understand when I booked it was for a three day rate but maybe it's something to consider not charging the whole amount if the person doesn't keep the uhaul for the entirety of the reservation.Caroline E.
I'm not sure if the trailer I rented was well maintained because i dont know how often the wheel bearings and stuff have been maintained but it was clean inside and out enough for my liking. I appreciated renting the trailer. I didn't like having to buy a 2 inch ball because I already owned one but i didn't have enough time to go back and get it too after forgetting my receiver but that wasn't uhauls fault, that was my fault. Overall it was a good experience. I will rent from there again in the future. I returned the trailer almost in the same exact spot I got it from. I didn't want to back it all the way in so I left it out in front of the row of the other trailers. Thanks.Jared B.

Picking up my uhaul was good service except the only had a quarter tank of gas so I had to call customer service I don't want to get charged because that's how I delivers it they honored it. Take bank cards. It depends who u talk to. Make it a rule for everyone that bankcards as well as credit cards can be used. When u 1st call in, the person u talk to told u something totally different from what they tell u in person. It costed me about $50.00 more than I thought it would. Not counting ALL the taxes. And I kno they make their money on mileage. I only went bout 23 miles. I'll be more selective next time.cheryl W.

They do not have trash facilities on site which means if you are driving out of state to Uhaul destination you,are supposed to take your trash with you. I do not have pockets that big and then they wanted to charge me for cleaning the vehicle in which i had already paid 1500 with 300 off to take it to out of city jurisdiction. For the most part the staff at the Johnson City, TN location was helpful and friendly; however, on one occasion, when I first purchased the storage locker, an employee I recognized contacted my when I was in another state and notified me that my storage locker wasn't locked when actually it was. I unable to return to lock it back, I spent nearly $50 to FedEx UHaul the key so it could be locked securely. In reality, it was just that I placed the lock on the second hole. When I went back in after loading my units, and realized that I didn't need a third unit. The women who helped me was upset that I had my big unit because she had booked it three weeks ago for someone else, but I have had my reservations since December. Either need a better way for people who make reservations through the app or online to register within your system better or your people to check those reservations first. They get "below average" rating from me because they were not able to provide the storage unit that was promised to me prior to my arrival from FL with a 20-ft uhaul moving truck full of the family belongings. Instead of one 15x10 unit that I reserved, I had to settle for three 5x10 units! Most real full size furniture would not even fit inside 5x10! The administration was like "we don't know what happened - this is all we can do". This facility maybe too massive for this group to manage effectively. In my opinion the storage building - old Lowes store converted to two level warehouse - is not suitable for the purpose of individual storage. A single elevator is in the front of the building. To get to some units in the back you would literally have walk and push carts through corridors 100+ yards long with several 90 degree turns. It took us over 1.5 hours to get our unit after we were sent to a unit that was locked and we had to move all our things again and go to the final unit. I received about 20 pages of paperwork which had incorrect information on it. I was charged 3 different charges on my credit card, none of which was correct. Rented a 10x20x10 storage unit online and largest unit available at checkin was a 10x15x9. Ended up renting a 2nd 5x10 unit and receive one free month rent as a courtesy so A+++ The only negative is one of the cleaning crew accused our movers of leaving a ness by the first floor recycle corral stating she witness them on camera. One star review! The facility is too big and poorly managed. Here is the problem that i faced: i reserved a 10x15 space at the time when i rented the UHaul truck. I called the facility twice prior to my arrival and they assured me that my unit was available and ready... Despite all that when i actually brought the 20-ft truck there in a late afternoon, they told me that there were no storage units of that size (or larger) available!... I had to unload into 3 (!) little spaces instead of the one reserved... A day or two later I sent an email to the regional manager complaining about the treatment . Made reservation 3 weeks ago for 10x15 unit not available when arrived and was given two, 10x5 units instead with a wall between them. Zero care given to this screw up on their part or the fact we packed an entire house to fit a 10x15. Had to deconstruct furniture that was not in any way meant to be deconstructed. Found ROACHES! staff knew and literally shrugged and walked away when I told them. General manager cared even less when I emailed him. Here is his response: "Darby, We had someone move in with an obvious roach issue, which we are in the process of working on Darby. The person was evicted. Darby, we have been spraying daily and have had professional pest company out to continue to address the issue. Unfortunately Darby this can happen as people from all walks of life use self storage, not just ours. Evicting people and continuing our pest control to fix is our recourse. That's my answer to you Darby. If you feel as if you need to take the route you said Darby then we will leave further communication to that route." My "route" was to increase my renters insurance and contact my attorney when I return to my bug infested unit and my nice belongings are ruined.
