I couldn't compliment the guy who put me in the trailer more. He was fast, attentive and when he saw the flashers weren't working on the trailer I was initially assigned, with the quickness we were on another trailer and on the road. These trailers are amazing!!!! They pull so well.James H.

This caused me to waste hours of time and to travel extra mileage to try to come back to the store to try to find an employee to no luck. If terrible or unacceptable were options on thia survey then that is what I woukd select. I could not have asked for a worse experience. I made my reaervation through the call center and was supposed to be able to check in on a mobile phone, that didnt work. It kept looping me back to the main screen. Wait in line only to catch attitude from the assistant manager, Judy, who simply commented "You should have called us before we close otherwise it wont work." Thus, I coukd not pick up the truck before the store opened so I had to wait. That wait pushed my schedule back enough to make me late for work. Thanks Uhaul... 3 employees agreed that the call center and store dont do things the same way and dont communicate so who knows what to expect when you rent over the phone. Lastly,I was never asked if i wanted the insurance, yet, was charged anyways. When I returned the truck I asked what the charge was and was told it was for insurance. Crabby Judy commented, "I cant take that off, if you wouldve wrecked you wouldve wanted it." Thats not for her to decide. No one asked me if I wanted insurance and Judy smartky responded,"yes, you were asked." False! Turns out she COULD have removed it, she just chose not to without reason as to why. Judy is absolutely despicable and her attitude is cringe. I'll be calling Mike, early in the morning to convey my issues. She needs to learn to empathize with the customer rather than escalate. She needs terminated, unfortunately. On the other hand, the new guy, Justin, is fantastic and deserves tremendous praise as he actually cares. Boo uhaul, penske for life nowCameron D.

They said I never dropped off the key. I did. I had to physically go back to the location to tell them I had indeed dropped off the key. I put it in the right location too, inside the dropbox. Assistant manager, Judy, got confrontational with me, saying I lost the key and would be charged for a new one and multiple rental periods. I asked her to show me footage of the dropbox at the time I had supposedly bypassed the dropbox. She said come tomorrow and Michael will look at it. I came the next day, at 2:50, and neither Michael nor Judy were there. I then got an email saying my refund had been processed. Never heard back from Judy and never got an apology for the wasted time or undeserved extra charges. Horrible experience and I will never ever come back. Never dealt with such horrible management. Judy is absolutely awful at her job. All this happened bc they can't fathom the possibility of them being at fault for a lost key. Why would I steal a key?? I'd be prime suspect if the van went missing. Wasted so much of my time. I am still so mad at the entire process.Thaddeus P.

For the most part the staff at the Johnson City, TN location was helpful and friendly; however, on one occasion, when I first purchased the storage locker, an employee I recognized contacted my when I was in another state and notified me that my storage locker wasn't locked when actually it was. I unable to return to lock it back, I spent nearly $50 to FedEx UHaul the key so it could be locked securely. In reality, it was just that I placed the lock on the second hole. The drop from concrete "platform" to asphalt was difficult to see at night during an after hours drop off and I drove my car off if it. Some spaces between the pillars are driveways and some are not. It would be helpful to mark or block the ones that are not.LES A.

Also, in the days of cell phones (where you can reach anyone 24 hours a day), why do you need a secondary phone number? Plenty to complain about here. First, the car straps were not lubricated. I had to spend time freeing them up just so that I could use them. Second, The safety chains were too low as well as the trailer light wire harness. While doing a safety check at a rest stop, I had to re-route the wire harness as it was dragging on the pavement while I was driving. It amazes me that I didn't snag it and rip out the harness. I had to tighten the slack on the chains as they were just a few inches from the pavement and the same thing could have happened. Third and the most frustrating part of all was the returning of the trailer. I dropped it off at the appointed time but the store was closed. The following day, I get a call wanting to know when I was going to return the trailer. I explained to the CS rep that I did and could email her photos showing I returned it. It took 2 calls in a 22 hour period and a combined 45 minutes on hold as well as 15 minutes talking to 2 CS reps who pretty much shift blamed it on the store and that I would have to contact them directly to get it resolved. Nope, not doing it! It took until this afternoon to get a closed receipt for this. Trust me, if there was anyone else I could go to in me area to rent a car hauler, I would. I wanted to talk to a local District Manager, but your CS rep refused to give me a name or contact person. That's the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I'll buy a trailer if I need one before using your company again.Kenneth S.
Actually it was all top notch. The only thing I'd suggest is that while I was being helped, a number of people queud up behind me and I think there was some confusion as to who was next in line. The whole "take a number" thing is kind of negative, I get that, but I'm not sure of any other option that would work.Christopher C.

The property is clean, and well maintained, most important- well lit, and secure, easily accessible, close to interstate. No complaint...just as the pick up location, my experience with the drop off location was fast and Rick was really friendly and took a load off my shoulders. actually i was shocked at how fast i was in and out.Rick made my day cause i was exhausted after my long drive from Oregon and all that happened along the way. Worst pulling u-haul trailer ever! It had 4 new tires, but one was not balanced correctly. From 45-60 MPH it vibrated horribly and shook the whole car. You either had to drive below 45 or over 60 MPH. Felt like a square wheelJON A.

When I went back in after loading my units, and realized that I didn't need a third unit. The women who helped me was upset that I had my big unit because she had booked it three weeks ago for someone else, but I have had my reservations since December. Either need a better way for people who make reservations through the app or online to register within your system better or your people to check those reservations first. They get "below average" rating from me because they were not able to provide the storage unit that was promised to me prior to my arrival from FL with a 20-ft uhaul moving truck full of the family belongings. Instead of one 15x10 unit that I reserved, I had to settle for three 5x10 units! Most real full size furniture would not even fit inside 5x10! The administration was like "we don't know what happened - this is all we can do". This facility maybe too massive for this group to manage effectively. In my opinion the storage building - old Lowes store converted to two level warehouse - is not suitable for the purpose of individual storage. A single elevator is in the front of the building. To get to some units in the back you would literally have walk and push carts through corridors 100+ yards long with several 90 degree turns. It took us over 1.5 hours to get our unit after we were sent to a unit that was locked and we had to move all our things again and go to the final unit. I received about 20 pages of paperwork which had incorrect information on it. I was charged 3 different charges on my credit card, none of which was correct. Rented a 10x20x10 storage unit online and largest unit available at checkin was a 10x15x9. Ended up renting a 2nd 5x10 unit and receive one free month rent as a courtesy so A+++ The only negative is one of the cleaning crew accused our movers of leaving a ness by the first floor recycle corral stating she witness them on camera. One star review! The facility is too big and poorly managed. Here is the problem that i faced: i reserved a 10x15 space at the time when i rented the UHaul truck. I called the facility twice prior to my arrival and they assured me that my unit was available and ready... Despite all that when i actually brought the 20-ft truck there in a late afternoon, they told me that there were no storage units of that size (or larger) available!... I had to unload into 3 (!) little spaces instead of the one reserved... A day or two later I sent an email to the regional manager complaining about the treatment . Made reservation 3 weeks ago for 10x15 unit not available when arrived and was given two, 10x5 units instead with a wall between them. Zero care given to this screw up on their part or the fact we packed an entire house to fit a 10x15. Had to deconstruct furniture that was not in any way meant to be deconstructed. Found ROACHES! staff knew and literally shrugged and walked away when I told them. General manager cared even less when I emailed him. Here is his response: "Darby, We had someone move in with an obvious roach issue, which we are in the process of working on Darby. The person was evicted. Darby, we have been spraying daily and have had professional pest company out to continue to address the issue. Unfortunately Darby this can happen as people from all walks of life use self storage, not just ours. Evicting people and continuing our pest control to fix is our recourse. That's my answer to you Darby. If you feel as if you need to take the route you said Darby then we will leave further communication to that route." My "route" was to increase my renters insurance and contact my attorney when I return to my bug infested unit and my nice belongings are ruined. Judy was very rude to me and my wife she accused us of leaving trash upfront which we did not do. She said we have cameras and that there would be a Xtra charge for them to throw the trash away. My daughter had a large unit upstairs that was infested with roaches. We moved out because Judy practically called me a liar and I do not appreciate that and she did another couple the same way. It is an extremely nice facility and cheaper than most. I unfortunately am disabled and the lockers are not accessible from the outside so you have to walk quite a ways. I was not able to move my items in and had to choose another location.Kelly W. | Online Move In

Dealt with the manager Judy. She was like a breath of fresh air after very negative, costly,and unprofessional experience we had at facilities in Bristol on State St..We.made a reservation for a storage unit in a.m. of Sunday at Bristol facility . After a 40 mile trip we found that the storage facility was closed for the day. Why did your agent not know about closure? All others we spoke to on phone after arriving in Bristol were able to see it was closed on their computers. We were told to call Johnson City facility where we were properly taken care of by Judy. Their were several customers in Bristol in same situation as us and many who were locked out of their units. Considering trailer rental was $340 and we went 40 miles out of our way not to mention we had our helpers drive to Bristol then to JC at my expense plus fuel this became a very expensive unload. We had to call JC to inquire about storage units available as all your agents told us we would have to wait until Monday the 23rd as they could not help us. This all cost me $200 dollars in paid labor and fuel. Had to be done Sunday as everyone had to work Monday. This was $200 I didn't have to spend if there were competent people representing your company making reservations and troubleshooting when there were problems not caused by customer.JOSEPH S. | First Impressions
It was a difficult check-in. Units that were on the system as "open" were in fact occupied. We tried three times before we located a unit that was both open on the system, and really was open.
