The trailer I rented was very old. Being an older unit the swinging doors and opening were 5 inches smaller then trailer itself I got to my location to pickup my items and could not fit them in the trailer. I was able to rent another trailer and was hoping to swap this one out but apparently it's marked for local only and could not be exchanged. Hindsight I should have rented a bigger trailerWilliam P.

Dan was Awesome! He wasn't even the employee checking me in, but he came over and helped out when he saw the young lady struggling that was new-ish I take it. Then coached her through the rest of the process like a gentleman and a good instructor would do. Allowing her to still learn throughout the entire transaction. Kudos to you Dan! I ordered an dolly and it was in my price but realized I didn't get it after I had already left and at the destination to pick up and move my belongings. The price I was told wasn't the same as the lady gave me at this location, this location price was higher, until I showed a snapshot I took from the rep on the phone, who scheduled this uhaul. Not very organized with important information needed for a smooth rental. And no I didn't get a refund from the dolly I didn't get.tylor J.

The mobile app to return trucks after hours doesn't workâ€¦I couldn't figure out how to prove I was in the right location and it wouldn't let me move beyond that screen. That cost me an extra 20$Allison H.

My only comment is if we use the app to sign in and process everything on our end through the app, why force the customer to have to still go inside and get a key. Why not have an outdoor kiosk with digital lockboxes loaded with keys for the day's reservations, send me the code to access the box to get the key, and finish check-in? I'm in the middle of the lot finding my rental and then after I acknowledge I found it, it says head inside to get the key. After waiting for the staff to finish with other customers I finally get the key. When I made the reservation I said I would check-in through the app so it seems Uhaul staff could pre-load those keys in the morning into a kiosk and special codes sent during check-in to retrieve the key and eliminate waste for both the staff and consumer.Kurt M.

The entire trailer stunk of moth balls I even left it open for 2 hours before we loaded and now my clothes all stink now thanks to that. im actually quite angry about it I have to now re-wash all my clothes after moving that's ridiculous and a complete waste of my ti.e to even rent a trailer should have just used a cattle trailer would've at least smelled betterAaron C.

The Assistant manager talked to me like I was illiterate then she explained to me like I could only use one machine to swipe my card when I went out there to swipe my card it was froze there I had to go back to the office and someone else told me I could of just swiped my card inside then when I went back out there I couldn’t move the lock over to open the door so I went back to the office the assistant manager was frustrated and told me she couldn’t go out there with me just get something and bang on the door and try and open it so I tried that and it still didn’t work so I went back up there a third time now I’m mad and Melissa was out there and I walk in yelling at this point so Melissa was very nice and pleasant and she told me she had to punch out and then she came out and helped me get the door open and told me she would be there the next day if I needed any more help.DOREEN S. | First Impressions

I have 3 U-boxes to unload and told the gentlemen working on Monday September 6th that I would be there to unload the boxes into a storage unit I reserved on Sunday September 12th. Noone knew anything about it when we got there. We did get the boxes brought out so we could unload them but it was a hassle. Also I was supposed to get a call from the location about the payment on my uboxes on Tuesday or Wednesday but noone called me. So I just paid almost $400 for the 3 boxes even tho I only had them for 2 days after the payment. The staff at this location are extremely rude and unprofessional. I had problems with my storage unit from the MOMENT I signed the lease, and wouldn't have signed at all if I wasn't stuck. The people working never answer the phone, and have such an awful attitude. Fantastic experience! Dedicated staff. Kind and helpful within the busiest season. Also, I wanted to share that Ryan is an incredible leader at the Ames Iowa Uhaul site located at Duff. Ryan works harder than most people who own businesses. He either owns the Uhaul and/or he's passionate about making the moving experience a good one. Honestly, when it comes to me moving, Uhaul has a very happy and determined staff - set on making moves easy, friendly and efficient. I appreciate the way Uhaul handles things and swear that this is one of America's unsung essential services that really needs a round of national applause, and if all goes as planned; I intend to share this message with leadership in the government. It seems to me that moving is one of the most stressful times in a persons life span. Uhaul has, so far, never let me down. Uhaul: I'm impressed you allow people to set a promissory note. In Ames, and in Jackson, there was no hate or degrading comments for the person who asked about that matter. Nationally, who does that?; unless you declare your a business (not many companies). I am a new business owner and this move is establishing a new business where demand exists for the services we offer. After moving my stuff in, about a month later we went to check on it and it was infested with roaches, in which we were told we had to treat ourselves. When moving out we had set a arrangement up to move our stuff out a few days after the rent was due but we explained we had to go out of state for a funeral and they were fine with it. When we went to move our stuff out they "had no recollection of the conversation " and forced us to pay a months worth of rent that we weren't going to use. The owner/manager John is NEVER there. the staff at uhaul are the rudest people in the world ... the only person there that was amazing was Teresa she was very helpful and a blessing to uhaul... and an amazing person ... wish all the staff at uhaul would take a class from her on how to treat people...
