Drove into the return lane, waited there for a good 10 minutes, but one no one came out. I walked into the store to try to return the truck, and I found a younger lady helping a customer and a middle aged lady having a personal conversation with someone who didn't appear to be a customer or employee. I waited, then the middle aged lady called me over. I told her that I wanted to return the truck and her reply was â€œYou need to wait in the return line outside.â€ I said I had waited there for 10+ minutes. She then said â€œWell, we are busy today and we are assisting other customers, so just go back out there and wait.â€ There was only me and one other customer in the whole store and on the premises. She was more interested in having personal conversations than helping me. I went back out and waited another ten minutes, and the younger lady came out to help me. She was already busy helping someone else, it feels like the other lady didn't want to do her job. The younger lady has helped me in the past, and she is always friendly and efficient! I didn't catch her name, but she has red hair. She's amazing!Maria R.

Misinformation provided by the Dan and Claudia at this location that I am not supposed to unhook the tow dolly or do anything. However the regional manager Jay 410-682-5805 said that the customer is responsible to unhook the tow dolly. If this information was provided to me on the day of renting the equipment I would have planned the move safely.Shareen C.
This is my second attempt at this location to use the app to checkin and it would not work. Once inside the office, there were many system issues that confused the staff, including my having to give them my drivers license twice to copy. Your check-in system badly needs an overhaul!!Richard T.

The staff was great. very friendly. My only suggestion would be for UHaul to have trucks and trailers available on the west side of Jackson. The location close to my house did not have the truck I need. So I had to drive addition 15 miles (at.79 cent) to pick up truckBruce C.
The pickup location didn't have the rent I ordered and prepaid a week in advance. But the person was helpful to find me a replacement. Though have to drive 80 miles away for pick up. I wish there were better online-person experiences, as not what you see is always available, and they did not communicate this well.Roman S.

The Assist. manager is not Friendly at all . They only care about the money they don't care about the customer. My husband went to jail, they still gave me a 25.00 late fee over locked my unit from being 3 or 4 days late how freaking sad ;( I paid it all and told them I'd be moving out ! I do not Recommend using this storage place to anyone! Idc we are humans and need to be treated as we are not just about how crappy we are cause of my husband going to jail !! Just make sure every truck in the fleet is running a1 because the truck I had was not shifting gears correctly it was so slow and burned up all the gas faster than the last truck I had here but the people that work here are great they are kind nice and they get you in an out overall good place to get any uhaul etc.Tyiesha N.

I ordered a 10' truck from a nearby location. I got a phone call that there were no 10' trucks available there and that I needed to pick up a 15' at a different location. I wasn't happy with this, because the 15' costs more and the other location was ideal. But apparently, I didn't have a choice, so I agreed. When I arrived to pick up the 15' at the new location, there were several 10' trucks on the lot! I feel like I was forced to upgrade unnecessarily. I feel duped.PETER M.

By letting the customer know that there is no hurry if they need it for the whole day instead of four hours it is the same price. I was very happy to be informed that when I went to get the U-Haul Van, so it was nice to have it for the whole day it was so nice that I rented it another two days so I had a total of three days. So by letting the customer know that if they needed it longer than four hours , That 4 hours just isn't their limit but to them know that they can keep it for 24 hours for the same price. My truck rental was messed up. It's not the fault of the location from what I can understand. I had booked a truck to pick up in Jackson Michigan as I was moving from there to St. John's Michigan. It was a 15 foot truck. I get a call Saturday night saying I had to switch to a 20 foot truck and return it to Jackson. That's a 120 mile round trip on a bigger truck that I didn't need. They dropped the price down to $100 and since I needed to move, I accepted it. Even though gas prices were so expensive and that amount didn't cover the expected gas. When I went to pick up it up, the 20 foot truck wasn't there but they gave me a 17 foot truck and I was charged more than $100 but again, I had no choice to accept because I had to move yesterday. My gas was over $60 so I ended up paying so much more than I had originally been quoted.Elizabeth H.

Drop off was fine until he pointed out the damage on the upper left corner that was already there when I picked up the U-Haul. You can see a patch inside the U-Haul in the exact location that it is at. I do not feel like the person in Spokane did for a job when I personally pointed out that was dented. Now I'm being told that I am going to have to owe $350 for damage I never caused that the woman didn't take the time to record because she was heading to her sisters pool she said. That said the location for drop off was fine. However when I tried to point out to the gentleman the patchwork inside the truck he was not interested in hearing what I had to say nor did he come look at what I was trying to tell him. I would like this resolved quickly because I don't have $350 extra as a single dad with two kidsJames T.

This experience of using a UBox was one of the worst experiences in dealing with the most ineptly run companies that I've ever had. We were overcharged and have put in 4 messages to have a supervisor return our call to no avail. From beginning to end, it was nothing but miscommunication and erroneous information which caused us so many problems and wasted time it was ridiculous. It appears that UHaul has no idea how to run a moving company and I will be sure to tell everyone I know how bad it was. Major changes needed.lidia C.

It wasn't the location that was an issue. I reserved the truck a while ago and for a specific time. I scheduled my move and helpers around that plan. Then the day before I was told the truck would be 45-60 minutes away, smaller, and not available until 6 hours after I planned. Why make a reservation?Andrew K.

I attempted to use the mobile app to check in and pick up my rental, but the app was not loading my information. I ended up going inside to pick up my rental. After I went through all the stuff inside, I got a text that I needed to click to verify the state of the truck before I left. This experience was ridiculously terrible. On two different phones (on two different services) and on the free Wi-Fi provided by U-Haul, the page would not load the images for me to approve. This was obviously an issue with the website and not my internet connection as I was able to click the dispute option and upload images to the website so I could fully document the state of the rental before I took it off the lot. The entire process took almost an hour to complete, I'm glad I decided to change my rental from the default of 4 hours to 8 hours or I would not have had enough time. When the process takes that long, the timer should not start until after I've approved everything. Given this experience alone, I would never rent from U-Haul again. If you can't make the online experience better, then get rid of it all together. Just a terrible experience.Larry D.

The Assistant manager talked to me like I was illiterate then she explained to me like I could only use one machine to swipe my card when I went out there to swipe my card it was froze there I had to go back to the office and someone else told me I could of just swiped my card inside then when I went back out there I couldn’t move the lock over to open the door so I went back to the office the assistant manager was frustrated and told me she couldn’t go out there with me just get something and bang on the door and try and open it so I tried that and it still didn’t work so I went back up there a third time now I’m mad and Melissa was out there and I walk in yelling at this point so Melissa was very nice and pleasant and she told me she had to punch out and then she came out and helped me get the door open and told me she would be there the next day if I needed any more help.DOREEN S. | First Impressions

I have 3 U-boxes to unload and told the gentlemen working on Monday September 6th that I would be there to unload the boxes into a storage unit I reserved on Sunday September 12th. Noone knew anything about it when we got there. We did get the boxes brought out so we could unload them but it was a hassle. Also I was supposed to get a call from the location about the payment on my uboxes on Tuesday or Wednesday but noone called me. So I just paid almost $400 for the 3 boxes even tho I only had them for 2 days after the payment. The staff at this location are extremely rude and unprofessional. I had problems with my storage unit from the MOMENT I signed the lease, and wouldn't have signed at all if I wasn't stuck. Fantastic experience! Dedicated staff. Kind and helpful within the busiest season. Also, I wanted to share that Ryan is an incredible leader at the Ames Iowa Uhaul site located at Duff. Ryan works harder than most people who own businesses. He either owns the Uhaul and/or he's passionate about making the moving experience a good one. Honestly, when it comes to me moving, Uhaul has a very happy and determined staff - set on making moves easy, friendly and efficient. I appreciate the way Uhaul handles things and swear that this is one of America's unsung essential services that really needs a round of national applause, and if all goes as planned; I intend to share this message with leadership in the government. It seems to me that moving is one of the most stressful times in a persons life span. Uhaul has, so far, never let me down. Uhaul: I'm impressed you allow people to set a promissory note. In Ames, and in Jackson, there was no hate or degrading comments for the person who asked about that matter. Nationally, who does that?; unless you declare your a business (not many companies). I am a new business owner and this move is establishing a new business where demand exists for the services we offer. After moving my stuff in, about a month later we went to check on it and it was infested with roaches, in which we were told we had to treat ourselves. When moving out we had set a arrangement up to move our stuff out a few days after the rent was due but we explained we had to go out of state for a funeral and they were fine with it. When we went to move our stuff out they "had no recollection of the conversation " and forced us to pay a months worth of rent that we weren't going to use. The owner/manager John is NEVER there.
