DOUGLAS BThere is no parking available at this location. You literally have to park two blocks away (at a Harvery's restaurant, and risk the chance of being ticketed). Both the morning and afternoon staff were LESS than friendly! I was not told where my rental was located so I had to walk around the whole location to find it. Years ago, I had very pleasant experiences with Uhaul on Upper Wellington. I wont be back coming back to Uhaul. Rental vehicle competition is fierce. I will chose a different rental agency next time.

Brian D | Overall ExperienceI am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at approximately 9:50 AM, at your 1088 Rymal Rd E Hamilton location. I am a frequent customer at this location and regularly rent a truck for an hour to complete garbage runs. Upon my arrival, I was greeted in a very unprofessional and discourteous manner by an employee named Brenda. Her demeanor suggested a clear lack of respect, which I believe was an instance of racial profiling. Brenda informed me that there were no available rental units and directed me to a different location, which I found to be inaccurate and misleading. Furthermore, I immediately went to my car and booked a reservation online for that exact time I had asked for myself. I went back into the store, which Brenda then refused to honor my rental reservation, claiming that my reservation had "kicked someone's rental out," a statement that is both baseless and incorrect. This treatment is unacceptable and not reflective of the standards I expect from your company. Recognizing the need for a more professional interaction, I requested assistance from another male employee. Thankfully, he was very helpful and was able to accommodate my rental needs, showing the level of service I usually expect from your company. When I came back and dropped off the rental truck I had asked Brenda for her name again, which then she falsely identified herself as "Karen." As I was leaving the property, I noticed Brenda was outside looking at me and laughing out loud, which further heightened my concern about the way I was being treated. I urge you to review the security footage from this time to verify my complaint. I believe this situation warrants your immediate attention, as it reflects poorly on your organization and can dissuade customers from using your services in the future. I request that appropriate action be taken to ensure that incidents like this do not occur again. I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to this matter. Sandra B

ahmad aThe manager of this location, Brenda Cayuga, is a nightmare. When I originally booked my storage unit I was accidentally given one that was already being rented. The staff member immediately gave me a second unit but neglected to cancel the first unit from my account. It took me 4 months to get this error corrected. I constantly phoned the office and no one ever picks up the phone. I emailed Brenda Cayuga several times and she never answered. I received threatening letters in the mail regarding my lack of payment for the storage unit I never had. Family members who I had to give as references also received threatening letters in the mail for a storage unit I never had. Finally I contacted the head office of U-Haul in the United States and spoke to an amazing customer service representative who helped me correct this. If you check the reviews for this U-Haul location on Rymel Rd in Hamilton Ontario everyone complains about the manager. Obviously nothing has ever been done about her so these comments are probably a waste of my time.

Matthew R | Overall ExperienceWe were given a 15' truck with Arizona plates (truck # DC 3098U). We used it for a one-way trip from Hamilton to Montreal. It was raining on the day of the move. When we got to our destination, there was significant water inside the truck. Our boxes all got soaked on the bottom. Our mattress got wet. Pillows got wet. Very disappointed with this.

john HThe staff was nice enough but It was quite a runaround to find where my unit was based on the very vague directions I was given. I noticed some rodent traps when I first entered the indoor units and as I was moving in my belongings I watched a rodent run from one unit, across the hall, and into another. It was highly concerning and I'm second guessing storing my things here given the price after I saw that.

Lou PWhen I checked in the lady that greeted me was incredibly rude. The GPS to this location shows the entry on Rymal, so by the time I found the office I felt lost which she seemed to think was worth making me feel stupid. The gentleman that showed me where my locker was seemed really nice, but the woman that greeted me was my first impression and it sucked. It felt like she knows she can't be fired and therefore is entitled to behave how she wishes. I suggest using that energy to clean the dumpy and cluttered office. As for my locker. There is no overhead cover at the exterior door, so rain, snow, sleet you are outside with your car doors open and all of your stuff getting damaged. The doors to the locker building have NO LOCKS and anybody can walk in at any time. The fence to enter the premises is low and has no safety features, not to mention there are gate that are open for pedestrians so anybody can enter the lockers rooms. The lockers themselves are flimsy and made from the cheapest corrugated metal and there is no lighting at all. The metal is so thin that if you lean on the wall, anything stacked on the other side will topple. My wall moved easily about 6" meaning I could not stack belongings against it. I promise you I did not feel safe leaving my belongings there. Heck, I didn't even feel safe there as a person! This is one of the reasons I left but the MAIN REASON is RATS. Really wish I had read the online reviews more in depth prior to renting so I could have seen the pictures and reviews about rats... however I trusted Uhaul because of their name recognition. I feel so stupid for renting a locker across from the city dump but I truly thought that Uhaul would have updated facilities to ensure rodents are not a concern. Instead they are incredibly out of date and dingy. The building smell so strongly of deodorizer but all it does is make it smell like the rodents are wearing perfume. I am confident I stepped in feces while in my unit but can't be sure since there are NO LIGHTS. Well played offering a free lock if somebody checks in online prior to arrival. If I hadn't already checked in and paid, I would have not stayed at all. I feel mislead by Uhaul. I expected that with how infamous their branding is that I would be getting quality rental space. Instead I am out an entire months rent despite only staying for 3 days in a ghetto locker plus paying for a new locker elsewhere. I ended up renting at Green Storage instead which is state of the art, has the nicest customer service, has indoor loading, is incredibly safe /secure, and is IMMACULATE! I rented a larger locker for the exact same price. They also prorate so they aren't ripping off their customers. Also, when I moved out there was a contractor working in part of my building. It was so uncomfortable being around him, throwing things towards the bin angrily (and missing and getting angrier) and basically acting like he is the Hulk. The notes say to contact the facility with feedback before leaving this review but I don't even feel comfortable speaking to the manager about this because she seems the type that would be confrontational and I don't see any of these feedback notes being cared about anyway.

Brian PThe only issue was they didn't have the correct reservation. Which certainly isn't the employees who work at the storage facilities fault. U-Haul is notorious for this. But they solve the problem by giving me two smaller units.

Dan WThe rating is due to the excellence staff and how they problem solved. But when I arrived there was no Internet and had to wait quite a while for them to access my booking. I don't understand why you don't have things backed up on paper or accessible when there's no Internet. And secondly the unit that I rented was not actually available. So they had to problem solve to make sure I actually had space to store my stuff U-Haul also didn't have the truck that I rented at the location that I rented it at. U-Haul really needs to get its act together. And not the employees who work in the offices but the head office

Alexis FIf my name and unit number are not revealed to this store Manager, I will say that she is rude and unprofessional and disrespectful. I think that the final staw- aside from the ongoing financial strain- for me to finally move my staff out was the incessant emails about updating my address (why? My bill was paid every month for 3 years) but really it was the woman Cayuaga. She is a monster.

Tiffany WOverall the staff could just run the place better. 1 question I said no to because it really should have been 2 questions. Clean? Yeah clean enough, but well maintained? Not so much in my opinion. Many times when trying to access my unit the sliding doors closest to it were locked and i had to go around and get a staff member to unlock it. Most recently the exit gate near my indoor locker has been blocked off with pylons for some reason and many uhaul vehicles were left parked in the area, so i had to reverse my vehicle down the aisle so that i could get back out through the entrance. Im not a fan of the regular aggressive almost monthly price increases, it was getting too expensive and not worth it. When i was first looking at getting a locker, the staff told me i could reserve one for the night while i discussed it with my wife, then the next day when i went to sign up it had been sold to someone else and i was told they cant hold them, so i lost the locker i supposedly had reserved. A little more tlc from the staff could make the difference between mediocre and great. Oh and one more thing... all the little sharp screws sticking out of the wall of the storage locker might be a safety concern to think about.

I was left on hold a few times for around 20 minutes each time and ended up having to hang up and call back. But they did assist me with my issues when I did finally get to talk to them. Perhaps a phone system that reminds that there's a phone call still on hold would be beneficial. Thanks for everything though and I would still recommend you.

They make promises to their customers that they have no intention of honouring. When the staff is confronted on the promises they made, they tell the customers that it's not their problem and if you don't like it you can " GET OUT". That is what I was told and then threatened to have the police called. I will never use that uhaul location ever again and will tell everyone that I can. That location needs a new owner and new staff. Uhaul is a disgrace, money hungry and do not care about their customers.

The customer service the young gentleman i interacted with was excellent. However, i feel the older blonde lady could improve her attitude. I have interacted with her twice and both times she seemed annoyed to be dealing with customers. Almost like she was being bothered whilst dealing with a customer. Not impressed as someone who is a manager myself, her attitude needs room for improvement. Kimd regards.
