The unit I had (745) was a very difficult unit to access by moving van or trailer and near end of contract the front of my unit was significantly blocked by additional units placed on the ground which made it unusable for me to back into so I was not able to continue using it for what I needed it for. At the time of initial rental unit there were no other units available. This unit was also quite expensive I thought comparably in the market. The staff was extremely nice and always helpful, the hours of access are great, but this is just an inconveniently placed unit for access with busy and restricted access (single lane right driveway) and limited turn around area for a vehicle with any kind of trailer or moving truck. I believe it would be helpful to make additional notes at time of rental that this unit cannot be backed into and that you will need to carry or haul items quite a distance that are moved into or out of this unit.wendy A. | Overall Experience

First off. Doing ANYTHING at this location has been a chore and takes three times longer than it should. Every time I'm in there the employees look like they hate their job- tepid at best- and all complain that the computers take forever and are having loading issues. That was no different today. Otherwise. They lost my reservation, then didn't have the size of truck I needed, and originally reserved, so I had to make multiple trips instead of one to achieve what I needed. Still charged me full price, of course, without a single apology for the issues that I can remember. The truck was to be returned in full, although upon checking the fuel before I left it was 7/8's. Had to contact and remedy contract with people at the store and (I believe Dan) was great about it. Minor inconvenience, as an isolated incident and Dan did fine. Also. The location charged me a late fee, despite me being on autopay with the same card and same expiration date I set up my account with. Employee said the expiration date was wrong in the system, but again, it is the same exp. date I have had for years. As I got that resolved, they waived the fee, of course - it wasn't an error on our end- they asked if I wanted to pay up the account. I said no, as I am clearing out the location today. Person said that is fine and goodbye. I thanked him, and then I turned to leave and was stopped by another person saying that actually I have to pay because I have been in the unit 4 days after the payment date. I told the person that if they really feel that it's fair to charge me after loosing my rental, not having the truck I need because of that, charging me erroneously and me having to figure it out with them, to do what they think is right. Got home after spending the day moving with the small truck, and they charged me for the entire month for half a week's stay into the period. Beyond that. I called the week prior and specifically let them know when I'd be cleaning out and was not advised of any period of time that I would have to be out by to not be reimbursed for a prorated amount for the month. I was further frustrated at the fact that, despite the maybe 10 Keys on the wall for reservations coming in, there were probably 20 trucks on the lot that were the size I needed anyway. I'm sure there's a reason that I was told that a 15' truck that I had reserved prior wasn't available, maintenance, or whatever, but this certainly just struck an additional chord. I was directed to go out and pull truck out of parking trucks so close I had to walk around to front access door duck under mirrors to open door . Wasn't impressed .JOHN D.
Please please please clean the vehicles! I mean really clean them. I felt like I had to burn my clothes and bathe in bleach after driving your pickup. I wiped down the steering wheel just so my hands would quit sticking to it. The wipe I used came back coffee colored. I could've wiped 10 times and it probably still wouldn't have been clean. The spills and stains all over the seats are disgusting. Hasn't been properly vacuumed or wiped down and sanitized in ages. There is no excuse for this kind of filth.Mariana T.

The van had an air freshener in it. The smell was so strong it was hard to breath. I'm not chemically sensitive but some people are like my wife. If she had gotten in the van she would have become sick in bed for at least a day. Lose the air fresheners. GraciasGary W.

I had originally rented a U-Haul from a different location on Ten Mile. Went to pick up the truck and there was no key available in the lockbox. Had to call customer service and was redirected to the Chinden location. Was happy they got me a U-Haul but was not happy that I had to change locations. I was on a time schedule and this stressed me out.michelle F.

only bad thing I can say is ,I had the trailer for 5 days only used it for 3 days which I was ok paying the full $1200 but while was unloading at my destination I received a call for UHaul asking if i could return equipment early due to an equipment shortage and iI asked if I would receive a reduction in cost and the reply was ABSOLUTELY NOT kind of rude considering U Haul called me. If you check your records you will see I did turn it in early to help out.ENRIQUE S.

Clean the windows of vehicles. Immediately after leaving the facility I had to stop at a gas station to clean windows. Unable to reserve online because after numerous "upsales" there was way to complete registration because "No Thanks" tab was missing on offer to hire helpers. Really?LOREN S.
I'm 63 gave me old truck. Starter made weird noise when I started it 200000 miles. Drivers seat didnt move Light in cab didn't wrk. I asked for newer truck, he wouldn't find me one. Bad tires very bumpy rough loud ride. I was afraid it would strand me so got friend to go with cost me $300 extra. Wanted to do 2 trips but didn't want to use this truck. So only got 1 load done bummer.. this was my 14th 26ft uhaul I've rented in last 10 yrs. I here nicer trucks on 1 way so will pay more to do that. Darn so expensive I appreciate you having trucks to rent. But excellence lacking in this very expensive transaction. 900$Tamara R.

The fuel tank should be full when I get the truck and the windshield cleaned. I didn't appreciate having to guess fueling the tank to an 1/8 below 3 quarters of a full tank when returning the truck.HOWARD H.

I got a flat on the trailer while in use. No problem thereâ€¦it happens. I calledâ€¦help would be there in 2 hours. Pretty long time to wait. But I did wait, beside the freeway. The fire shop assigned to the repair,,,located only 15 minutes drive from meâ€¦called me to verify the size of the tire needed. 2 hours laterâ€¦I get an automated text that the first tire shop service call had been canceled and another tire shop, other than the first shop assigned to this repair, was going to be outâ€¦in another 2 hours! I called the first tire shop. They told me that they can not use any tire to fix this flat,,that they had to use the tire/rim that Uhaul had given them. Exceptâ€¦they had been asking uhaul for a tire/rim for months and had never been given it!! Furthermore, they also found out that the second tire shop that had been assigned to me also had not been given a tire/rim to make this repairs. Soâ€¦I was looking at sitting on the side of the freeway for 4 hoursâ€¦and no repair coming. I called the first tire shopâ€¦they agreed to come out and install a â€œnon-approved tire.â€ I am grateful for that first tire company for helping outside of the uhaul prescribed policies. Their parting comment to me was that they were going to take themselves off of the uhaul repair shop list since uhaul refused to give them a tire/rim! I will never use uhaul again! The question regarding was the truck clean and well maintained was actually hard to answer. Yes the truck was very clean and the motor ran very well but if the suspension system or shocks are part of maintenance then I would have to say no it wasn't well maintained. The truck did not ride smooth. It was extremely uncomfortable, I think a covered wagon ride was probably more comfortable.ANDREW C.

I would have given a Rating of 4 or 5 Overall except for the exceptionally poor customer service I received on location when I checked out the rental truck on Labor Day. Prior to the check-out, I had reserved a 15' truck and, yes, completed the online â€œcheck-inâ€ earlier. At that time, I was told a 10' truck was not available, but that I should check again when I arrived at the rental office. Upon arrival at the rental office, I did so and noticed several 10' trucks in the lot. When I inquired, I was politely directed to â€œLeRissaâ€ who was pre-occupied with her cellphone. She did not appear happy, nor pleased that she was working Labor Day, nor that she had to interrupt her cellphone activity. I explained that although I had reserved a 15' truck, it was more than I needed and a 10' truck would suffice. Would she mind renting the 10' truck, instead? Instead of saying that she would be glad to assist, LeRissa appeared to be annoyed (e.g. eyes rolling, attitude, sighs) by this request. When I went to inspect the truck, my wife told me later that the eye-rolls continued as I walked away. Upon returning, we completed the rental check-out and were on our way. The truck was clean and performed well. Other U-Haul staff present at the Chinden U-Haul office in Garden City appeared eager to want to provide customer service, with the exception of LeRissa. In the past, I have been quite pleased with my rental experience at the Chinden U-haul, but not this time. I am not sure what her issue was, but LeRissa was unprofessional and not well received.ANTONIO G.

Easy website to schedule instillation. Excellent pre-instillation communication to confirm date/time. Location was convenient and installer was ready for vehicle. My only complaint was that the van did have a bit of a cigarette smell. It didn't effect our belongings, but it wasn't comfortable driving in the van very long because of the smell.ROBERT L.
I was promised a pickup in Nampa. The day before my pickup, I was told I had to travel to Boise, during rush hour, to get the trailer. It took me three hours, round trip, to pick it up. Because of this, I missed some of my daughter's volleyball game. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!Richard N.

I'd recommend putting more effort into customer service. I found your customers service was extremely difficult to access. I was managing this remotely and attempted to get in touch with a human being via both the on line chat and the phone (did this simultaneously). Spent 51 minutes on hold. Before the 51 minute long hold, I got to someone who said she needed to transfer me and that it would only take a minute. I'd say she set my expectations incorrectly. The information disconnect between the national and local customer service staff is pretty significant. As a result, I wasted HOURS when I should have been packing the truck trying to verify where and when my contract showed I would be I at my destination and what storage I would be using. When I moved out, I cancelled the truck I had ordered but wanted to keep the rental for moving blankets which the very pleasant lady from national told me I could do. When I arrived with trailers and trucks to load nice furniture and antiques, local told me I could not rent blankets unless I rented equipment. They said it was policy bcs so many people did not return blankets. So charge them the purchase price for the unreturned blankets when you figure their final bill. Part of the contract started that I would recieve a free lock. I recieved a text message stating that the lock would be in my unit upon move-in. It was not. I tried calling the office about this. After approximately 10 minutes of letting the phone ring someone who identified themselves as Jodie answered. When told the problem she at first replied that locks were not provided. That'll when informed that I read promised a lock in my unit she said that was incorrect and I needed to come inside for one. As I was exciting the storage area to cums into the building to pick up a lock Jodie left the building and drove away leaving me no opportunity to lock my unit. I had to drive to Wal-Mart and purchase a lock. I spoke to corporate about the behavior and was promised I would recieve a call back. It's been a week and no phone call. Also, I rented a 5x10 unit and it is not 5x10 no matter how you measure it. Given the broken promise of a lock, the exceedingly poor customer service by both corporate and the local location, and the incorrect unit size I just cannot recommend U-Haul storage to anyone.John C. | Online Move In

My only problem was when we rented a truck to move out. When returning the truck we made the mistake of dropping the key in the night box before checking out on our phone, we called uhaul and the (nice) lady on the phone helped us as much as she could but yet we were charged $20.00 the next morning for not completing the process online.....and then I was told it is a way to get the customer "to help them" (uhaul).lee J. | Overall Experience
The instructions made it seem like I was supposed to move in and then get my gate key. Only one gate is accessible and to leave the key pad is rather far away. I couldn't find the keypad before office was open and struggled to get out, even with customer service on chat mobile. I couldn't reach anyone by phone.
