Prospect St. Frederick MD. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The staff ALL have great demeanors and work hard to provide a great experience. Only one change or area of improvement..... the parking for customers is non existent. Yes, customer can park on the street but that's nonsense . Customers should be able to leave their vehicles on Uhaul property. The street parking is crowded and someone will 100% attempt to break into your car. Thanks Uhaul. I cut myself on some debris that was left in the truck from another customer. There was also legos and a bottle rocket in the back of the truck. The truck was not full of fuel like they usually are, and I had to stop right away to fill the truck up. I only used $50.00 of the $100.00 more that I put in. I told the lady at the desk this and her response was "Thank You So Much" and not anything about refunding the difference. I had the truck back 4 hours earlier as well. The fact that I was basically forced to go to the location to pick up and return was ridiculous. Uhaul was absolutely no help in helping a single mom of 4 kids. And the fact that I wasn't aloud to return to a closer location to help me save money was even more ridiculous. It was Friday late afternoon, they were fully booked, the place was packed, and they had one person working the register. The on line checkin didn't work, so I waited 30 min through 7 customers to ask about online, was told it would come up with a key number, then it didn't, then I waited 30 min through another 7 person line to speak to the only person at the desk. The inefficiencies of how things work really stand out when you have to wait an hour to get a truck that was reserved. Lady was very nice and knowledgeable, but tried a little to hard to customize the experience for everyone. Fine when lines are short, but with long lines, it would be better not to run around finding things and people for one customer while many wait. Why doesn't U-Haul supply the register with a driver's license scanner? If I book online, enter my info, have an account, and select no for add-on insurance etc, why am I asked for info again at the desk? Again, if there's no line, I only mind a little, but I'd I have to stand around for an hour listening to people give info already given it's tough.Adam B.

This was my first experience doubting the honesty of Uhaul. The staff here are amazing and helpful! I wish I had extra money to give them a bonus, they deserve it. The only reason I did not select excellent is the security. While we have to punch in a code for security, I would put in my code and frequently when I opened my unit, the alarm would still go off. The alarm is in place, but seemed to not serve a purpose as it would go off and nothing else would occur. For the short time I was there it was okay, and I was in and out of my unit weekly, so I was able to check on my belongings. When we reserved our truck, it wasn't available where we reserved it. We found out, after waiting on hold for 30 min., that our reservation was switched to where we reserved our storage unit. We were never informed, but the customer service representative on the phone insisted we were. I was looking at my messages; I was not. After taking care of the truck, the unit we reserved was not saved for us. The only reason we got a unit was because someone called to cancel their reservation while we were in line. My issue is that I couldn't use the storage unit due to it being too small. I requested a refund, was told the GM was 99% sure I could get one but she had to check with corporate and would give me a call back the next morning. I did not receive a call back so I went in to the store but the GM was not there (surprise) even though I was told she's be opening the store that day. I was told that storage was down nationwide so a staff wrote my name and phone number down and said she'd have the GM call me Monday morning to resolve my issue. I did not receive a call on Monday so I called the store and was on hold for 50 minutes. The representative that I spoke with entered an action claim and said someone would call me within 24-72 hours. I have not received a call but I did receive an emailed receipt showing that I was not charged for the storage unit, however I paid for it and I still have not received my refund or a call from any manager.Teesha C. | Overall Experience

Only a single suggestion/complaint - the alarm that sounds when someone opens a unit without having first signed in is painfully loud and likely could lead to permanent hearing loss. Elevator was broken on day of move out. According to staff, the elevator had broken the day before but the technicians had not been called out until that day to come fix it. I had told office staff I wS moving out of my unit April 2nd. They billed me on April 3rd for another month. The unit was filled with mice turds and had chewed through multiple boxes and damaged my property. The manager there was particularly obnoxious and made no effort to return my money. If the staff remains the same, I would be sure to anyone inquiring to NEVER store their belongings there. A month later and I'm still having to throw items out, including expensive wool coats for being chewn or finding mice turds on items and throwing them away. Worst U-haul facility that I have ever dealt with. The manager will never call you back and you better be prepared to fork out more money to them if you cannot move out before your month end. Other facilities said they had no problem if I moved out a few days after the end of month without charging me but not this one. So now not only do they get a little over $300 from me but they just turn around a re-rent the the two units I had to someone else and collect double money. Don't bother to try to work it out with them because they will say that it is out of their hands which is not true.
