We reserved a climate controlled storage unit. When we got there there was a long line that took 30 minutes to get through. Once we were being waited on we were told the unit we reserved was not available and that we could get non climate controlled or go to another facility. Staff was unprofessional, griping, and antagonistic. Their knowledge about their own processes and computer systems was severely lacking. Gate access to the storage area was not working, even after getting two access cards activated. Unit I rented should be taken out of service for the following reasons.1) ignition sticks and wasted about 30 minutes in my travels to get it to work.2) radio does not work.3) sun visor falls down every time you hit a bump and yes we have a lot of bumps in Cleveland. 4) sticky substance on the rails in the truck. The unit they gave me was dirty and the ceiling was ripped and coming down, all fiberglass exposed, they put a few pieces of red tape on it and said it was fixed. When I returned the truck I told them the rear leaked through the roof and they did nothing about it before renting it to next person. They also could not be contacted easily and did not respond to messages through the website or app. Phone call took 20 minute holdSimon M.
Before we left we informed the lady that the gas was not full it was a 3/4 tank. She advised us to just put it back to where it was. After the trip when the truck was dropped off we only drove 31 miles and was charged for 38 miles. On top of that we were charged a fuel charge!!! Even after spending our own money to replace the gas to make sure it was back a 3/4 tank!!! So instead of $35/$40 I spent $65 for picking up one item 12 mi there and 12 mi back. That's absolutely ridiculous!!!!Dawn P.

It took a long time to check in on the app and then I had to wait for them to confirm a personal contact and work contact which was unusual. I went inside to try and check in quicker and the lady on 1st shift was very rude and said â€œ you might as well finish on the app because we do the same thing hereâ€ When returning it was a different shift and crew luckily. No one came to check it back in and there was a sign to check it in with the mobile app. I started to do so and a guy came over and stopped me and said don't submit because it will charge you $20 for returning after hours and it's not after hours.. then he said it went through anywayâ€¦ so I had to go inside and wait in line ..I got up to the desk and the girl looked up my info and it did NOT charge me. I wasted a good hour between the time I was there to pick up and drop off. The rude employee and difficult time made it so I wouldn't use this location againNicole B.

I came to U-Haul because of the convenience being less than 5 miles away. I have never rented a storage unit before this is my first time. I had a flood in my house and lost almost everything. The little bit of belongings that I could salvage I wanted to store safely. I went into U-Haul in Lorain and rented a truck and storage unit. I will never use U-Haul again or refer anyone to them. The office staff was so unhelpful and rude if I wasn’t so desperate I would have left and went somewhere else. When renting a storage unit for the first time I had no idea how it worked. The office staff didn’t explain how it worked or even what to do. One guy at the desk could not complete my transaction because he didn’t have a cash drawer so I thought he was getting another employee to help me as other customers were coming in and getting waited on I’m just standing there. So I finally asked the guy at the desk why I wasn’t getting any assistance and he said well you have to get in another line. I have never been there before I didn’t know I had to go to another line. I just lost all my belongings to a flood I’m completely heartbroken at what is going on in my life and just needing a storage unit for a while until I get my house back in order. I ordered a trailer online and went to pick up and it did not have a ramp which I needed. I went to go inside to request one that has a ramp and they told me they were rented for the day. I then had to rent a substantially larger and more expensive trailer. Then when I brought the trailer back the trailer that had the ramp that I requested was still sitting on the lot but the worker had claimed it was rented for the day.Jared V.

I was told when I rented it that it was below a quarter tank so if I returned it with same amount that would be good and no extra charge ,but if I brought it back with more than what it had I would get credit for said amount....well that is not the case. You do not get c redit for extra full you put in...the check in guy took an additional $10 off the rental fee for me so it worked out good...would rent again. The trailer staff (hooking up and un-hooking) were very nice and helpful. (Jason the first time, and a young lady the second) This was my second rental in 2 weeks. The first time took some extra time/steps at the desk, and they have to call someone as a second contact and speak to them asking if its "ok" for me to rent a trailer????. (Strange in my opinion. Since I can rent a $85k Cadillac for 10 days and car rental companies don't have to call my wife, but rent a $3500 trailer for 12hrs and it's like going through airport security!. So.... was told I can avoid all this next time by creating an online account... Well the only step it saved was taking pics of my license since I uploaded those online. They still have to call your mommy and ask if its ok?? Also, the charges never match what your online reservation amount its.. Online said $37.95, but paid $40.41. After looking at the details the $2.45 is "rental tax". Why wouldn't that be included in the total cost on the online reservation? Otherwise, it was a good experience. I had a guaranteed reservation. Arrived on time and waited in a long line. Was told they had no truck for me, and couldn't help me. They had no reason why and made up something about not being sure why the system did not notify me. The girl at the desk was rude about it. No apology or kindness at all. She told me I would have to go call Uhaul and they would find me a truck somewhere else. Two long hold times in the hot parking lot calling for Uhaul, who then told me that the location did have my truck and to go back in. Waited in a long line again. While I was in line the people at the desk were talking about me, unsure if they realized I was there and could hear them. The guy who checked me out the second time told me someone had just returned the truck he was giving me as we were standing there, and that's why they did not have a truck for me. Unfortunately, that was not true. The truck he gave me was sitting there the whole time I was there, I parked right beside it when I first arrived. The whole ordeal made me an hour and a half late for my movers and cost me an extra 200$ that I had to pay the movers for extra time. The guy checking me out told me he was giving me furniture pads free, but there was a charge for them. The truck itself was a disaster. Vents busted. Visor torn half off hanging down on the driver's side, damaged all over. I had to ask for stickers to mark the damage myself. I hope today was just a bad experience, and it isn't like this all the time. The guy who checked me out was very nice and did try to help me, and the gentleman from Cleveland Uhaul traffic who located my truck was awesome. Note: Due to other problems at this location relating to truck rental, my move in date went from originally being scheduled for 02-11-23 to 02-12-23. The storage I reserved, had a rusted lock handle that look like it could give someone tetanus (the other storage units around were not rusted) and I had to ask them to assist because it would not open (one of the staff came out and oiled it. I didn't get his name but he had a major attitude during the whole process. The staff member named Asia never added the insurance coverage, as she reassured me should would, for the storage at the end of the billing process/check out process. She was courteous but did not follow through with these situations. I am extremely disgusted by the experience at the Elyria, Ohio location. Truly I am. I am considering if I can find a way to take my storage items somewhere else locally. As a customer I don't need to be made to feel as if I am bothering you on the job. I only had one issue on my end, and that was not checking out before leaving after my initial visit. That resulted in a denied access on my next visit, which I noticed after further inspection of the plethora of signs on the facility. Completely my fault. Only thing was, I wasn't immediately sure what the proper course of action was after that. I was able to head into the store / office, and was then granted a key card to swipe on the gate and exit keypad that I was informed about. But I am still am not sure what would be the proper course of action should that happen during hours where the office / store is closed. The female manager screwed up and double booked the same truck and tried to put the blame on me - so she lied and said I brought my truck back on a half a tank of gas. She also tried charging me for two days when I didn’t even have the truck 13 hours. I called corporate and they continually apologized for their employees behavior. Fore, she didn’t expect me to have documented evidence of paying for gas and a full tank. She also said I went X amount of miles, but if she had put thought into her lies she would had realized the math to miles and gas didn’t add up. I have proof that every single thing she said was a lie. And I hope to god someone high-up sees this post and investigates into her because she should so not be a manager. Uhaul did not express to me that my storage reservation is only good if the unit they have is actually available. When I arrived yesterday for my reserved 10x10x8 storage room with an established move in date, I was told that the unit I had reserved was not available. The only one I could get was 10x5x8. Which is roughly half the room I was expecting. We were lucky enough to puzzle piece everything together to get it all to fit, but as a company you shouldn’t rug pull your customers like that. I reserved my storage unit online only to find out that the size I reserved was not actually available. I then had to get 2 storage units instead of one and the price was double what I was originally quoted. I was assured by the manager that she would get the price adjusted. I waited for 2 months and my calls were ignored by the manager. At one point I was denied access due to late payment aft we r being instructed not to pay until the price was corrected. I had difficulties from customer service trying to rent a storage I showed my ID and they were not wrote me the unit because of my son old money which had nothing to do with me it was a total nightmare as far as the facility the employees try to do everything they could I had a problem with customer service thank you and I thought they was taking the payment out of my account automatically so I was a few days lateThey ended up sending my mother the bill which I don’t know how they got her address she had nothing to do with it it was very embarrassing I really was upset about thatTONY L. | Overall Experience
