The facility seemed under staffed, only one counter person to cover a large facility. I waited for almost 10 minutes before I was able to receive my keys. There were no other customers in the facility. The housekeeping attendant actually came out to apologize for the length of the wait. The wi-fi signal doesn't reach out to the parking lot, so if I'm utilizing the app check-in, the functionality is extremely slow. You should have routers that provide exterior access. I made this reservation because my son's reservation was cancelled in Ithaca because he arrived 2 hours late for pickup. There is nothing in the information that comes with a reservation that says that your reserved equipment can be given away if you show up late. We were very lucky to be able to find another trailer, although it added an hour and a half of additional driving and a lot of stress to our day. If you're going to have a policy like that you need to make it clear, which it is not.Robert F.

I have been charged over 400 dollars when i only used the truck for 5 and half hrs..was a 6 hr reservation...then learned when i went to get truck and finish reservation they charged me for 2 days and told me i would get most back that it was a deposit due to kind of card i used to pay...then when i dropped truck off at 11: 50 pm after picking it up at 6:45 i thought id get my deposit back and didnt...then i was charged another 276. I called them in morning and complained and need my money back they said was a cleaning fee....due to a lighter left in truck and sticky stuff in cupholder....which all was there when i picked truck up...i told him it was not my lighter that it was ther when i picked truck up..he said too bad they had to charge cleaning fee...im a single mom on disability and all together with the 143.00 charge for my 5 amd half hrs then 276.00 charge i was all together charged 419.00 for using truck for 5 and half hrs...i am broke couldnt make my car payment and cant get groceries my income is limited on disability and they have caused me such terrible stress amd anxiety and no one will resolve this...i might have to see if i can find a probono lawyer and go after u guys for pain and suffering due to these charges....its ridiculous....please get back to me asap i meed my money!!!! I just completed a move from NY to Maryland and originally rented a truck from Budget. When I went to pick up my truck they told me they had no truck for me and I was SOL. I went to U-Haul and they initially told me getting a one-way truck right now is impossible, but Shanrod bent over backwards to help me out. Luckily someone cancelled and he called and let me know they had a truck for me, and my move was only delayed one day. There was popsicle wrappers in the back of the bed. After they â€œcleaned itâ€ I got the truck on the king just after E so I'd assumed because I wouldn't have it that long they don't fill them. I took it back filled further than what I'd got it on, took it back early & clean. & still my bill went from $45 to $67 when they actually charged me. Reasons completely unknown. They never told me they put a hold on your card so I used my credit card to get gas for the truck because couldn't use my bank card. I dread using uhaul and every time I've ever had to use it, they prove to me exactly why I hate it. Never again. I'll use my car and strap everything to the roof if I need too from now on.Chelsie K.

Customer service and professionalism doesn't exist at this location. They do not explain procedures well and nail you with hidden costs, it's clear it is intentional to get more money out of you. They didn't honor the agreement of milage and said I did not turn properly following their own signage. Both the owner and employee very unfriendly. The whole process was just a pain. I went online, and put in my reservation to be picked up VIA mobile as that was "easier". When doing the registration, it got all sorts of messed up. I put it in my name, with my e-mail and my phone number, then it got changed into my brother's name. I am not sure if this is because he was the driver or not, however I believe you should be able to have the reservation in someone's name and then the driver be someone different if needed. While doing the reservation they wanted an alternate person's number to call, so I put in my mother's phone number. Somehow that was used for the contract itself, but the reservation was under my number. The site stated this number was an alternate number, not the number that was used for the contract. So when it was asking for yet another number to call, when I got there to pick up the truck, I tried to put in my mother's number in there but I couldn't because that was used for the contract, so I tried to put in my brother, but I couldn't because that was who the reservation was under. I couldn't put my name either so I ended up putting my mother's name with my brother's cell phone number, was told on the site that he was going to get a call to be confirmed that it was a good number which did not happen. I then had to put in information that I already put in at the "check in" the day prior to which it said it would make things go by quicker, which only took up more time. I was dragged all over the place, being told to go to the truck only to go inside and grab the keys, and to top it off the moving pads I ordered were not in there and when I went to go get them, I was told I did not order any. When I showed my phone to the worker, he proceeded to scroll past the area where it stated to make sure the moving pads were in the truck, stating again that they were not supposed to be in there, until I showed him myself that they were. Even then it seemed like he didn't believe me, and I was already irritated, half an hour of my time was already used, and I was not in the mood to pull up the reservation, while already in the middle of the process of picking up the truck, just to prove that I ordered these pads. It asked if they were in the truck, and I am assuming they do not all show that. Once I got my pads, I was more than a little stressed out. I finally left, and was able to get things done quickly. I feel like the whole process could have gone so much smoother if things were done properly on the website. If you already put in license information and such for the part of the check in before hand, when you get there to get the truck it shouldn't have to be done again. There should be no need to go over to the truck, and click that you are there, just to have to go back in to get the keys and any other things you need. I am not sure if the reservation didn't communicate to their computers at the office and that is why the pads were missing (this happened with my dad not too long ago when he moved and reserved online as well), if that is the case it needs to be fixed so they can know what needs to be on the truck, put it on, and save time for both them and those who are renting. The whole check in process that is supposed to be "quicker" and "easier" was not at all. I shouldn't have to take another half an hour of my time, time that will come out of how long I have to bring back the truck for, because the process is asking me to do everything all over again. It was already a stressful day, and what was supposed to be an easy pick up to make for an easy move, only added to that stress instead of relieving it.Nathaniel S.
First, the month free I was emailed was not available to me. Second, I contacted your main office with multiple issues and they were not only unanswered, but not resolved. Third, the late fees are insanely high. Tried to rent for 24 hours and told because of supply and demand I only had 4 hours. then while giving info to rent the truck I mentioned I was going to use the free month of storage, he neglected to tell me I was not eligible for that and I was charged $100+Colby S.
We needed a 20' truck and reserved the truck at the location (Elmira Heights, NY) because the location in my town (Mansfield, PA) did not have one listed. When I arrived, there was no 20' truck for us. It was a potential big problem because we were haul 15' long bleachers. However, the U-Haul rep made many calls to find one, but was not successful. Eventually, after an hour, a 20' truck was returned to the Elmira Heights location. We were able to use that one.Kjell F.

i wanted to return the trailer the day prior to my scheduled drop off time so i did not have to rush around in the morning trying to get everything done hurriedly. i could not get the phone app to work correctly so that I could upload photos of the trailer interior etc, so i called the 800 number and after a rather long wait on hold, was assured everything was recorded and noted as to where and when i dropped it off... when i called to check on its return status i was asked where it was,,, oh boy.. not real smooth sailing to say the least..charles S.

I waited in line 20 minutes just to be told they couldn't help me because I started mobile check-in. So I went outside to do mobile. Then had to go back inside for the key. The only issue I have is, you put a hold on my account and then charge my account a second time when I bring the vehicle back. Then I have to wait 48 hours for that hold to fall off. That is not right for the customer. With our technology, it shouldn't have to be that way.Ken S.

Overall the equipment was great and worked fine, towed easily. The staff was rude and to be honest arrogant. I waited for 5 minutes before someone even greeted me as a customer and then during my check out the guy handling everything picked up his phone and stopped doing the U-haul thing and was texting with someone. He answered numerous calls while dealing with me and was rude to every one of them. I will honestly buy a trailer before renting another one from this location.Joel B.

Service desk guy was very rude and when I was given my rental it was at half a tank and so I returned it with half a talk but was informed I didn't put the gas back to were it was. He told me I needed a picture of the gas gauge or it's his word against mine. This U-Haul got 15 extra dollars in gas that I am not happy about. Also every U-Haul should have a full gas tank making it easier for people to know they put in the right amount of gas. This was the first time I had used U-Haul and it was less than a full tank. Your "fast" transaction and registration service must be really reviewed and brought up to standard. I am a "regular" customer and despite this, once I have filled in all the information via your application, I have to go to the reception, so that I can collect my keys. I had set a reservation 3 days in advance to pick up a auto transport, apon my arrival I spoke whom ever and to the AT that I was supposed to receive was given to another person that day I was forced to wait longer while they sorted out the situation because they were unaware of the their any of the vehicles they had on site. I was told to wait longer that I felt I should being I was there at my reservation time and did not leave 2 and half hours later. First I ordered stuff to be delivered to my house that I was going to use to move into my unit. They said it would come between 12~4pm. They charged my card and then cancelled the order right at 4 after I waited all day. The next day I went to store my stuff close to the end of storage hours when no one was there. An automatic door opened and then an alarm went off. I didn't understand what checking was because there was 3 separate kiosk things at the entrance. We get the alarm to shut off and head for the unit. We find the unit and it's definitely not the size they described. Definitely not worth the more than 90 dollars a month. Then they didn't even leave my padlock inside so my locker is now just sitting there with my stuff inside…unlocked. I ran into some financial issues and was very pleased when I was offered the buy out option. Unfortunately, when I went to get my stuff after making my payment, I was welcomed with an alarm going off and the system was telling me I had no access. After trying to reach the on call manager number several times, I decided to just go home. When I called the next day to talk about my experience and how to get my items, I was transferred to the 1800 line several times. The woman was very helpful but it took her half hour to reach someone from the store for me to talk to about getting my items. When I went back to get my items after finally talking to the manager and setting a date, I was told the alarm was going to go off but I can still access my things and empty my storage. Get to my storage unit and there was an over lock after I heard the woman working ask the manager if she should go check it and he told her no. Of course when I went to tell him that there was STILL an over lock on my unit, he blamed the employee for not checking. - I understand that I was the one who came into financial issues but overall this was a terrible experience and as nice as the unit itself was, the entire time my stuff was in there, there was a bulb out in the light above us and I didn't like the way it was so hard to reach any one for help. They definitely should not have charged me the $145 to buy out my storage items if they were going to give me this much of a hassle to get my items. Especially considering what I had to pay to have someone help and watch my child BOTH times I had to go up there and the gas I spent to go just to be told there was access because I can't reach them on the phone. The storage unit I had was dark and even during the day I could barely see in the unit. The staff is very busy and sometimes I waited for over 20 mins in line. There are two things that really bothered me. In an email I received from uhaul, it was stated that I qualified for my first months rental of a storage unit for free. However, this was entirely not true; I had to pay for my first months rental and I would get a second months rental for free. Another falsehood was that, I could store gas powered equipment so long as the gas and oil had been drained from the equipment. But when I got to the uhaul facility in NY I was told that the storage of such equipment was not allowed under any circumstance, drained or not. If I had known this in advance, I would not have bothered to load such equipment, there by wasting space on the uhaul truck I had rented. For the advertised free first months rental and the drained gas powered equipment false advertisements, I give uhaul a zero out of ten.Daniel L. | First Impressions

The alarm was always set off and no one came to see if there was a problem. Not to mention it not being turned off so we would have to leave when we didn't set it off. Unless we wanted our ears shattered. The staff didn't enforce face masks so people would come into the building not wearing one. They would stand in the doorway so that others could not even keep a 6 good distance. We turned around and left more than once as we didn't feel safe to go inside. I had called to ask about bigger units being available and I was told they were and to come in to get one. When O got there they said they weren't available and that nothing had been rented that day. I am rating average because I was charged a late fee for the one month out of almost an entire year that I didn't get an email reminder about the payment being due. The late fee was applied without any warning. I have attempted repeatedly to get the late fee credited back to me without success, as I can only call customer service and they supposedly have emailed my concerns to the general manager of this facility, but that person has never responded.Maureen G. | Overall Experience

Nice facility. Staff is not very good with computer. I was charge not once but twice a 15.00 late fee when i originsally set up for electronic payment with both units.. I had 3 units and rented several trucks to move... Consider myself a good customer Definately not happy with a no pro rate policy. I rented 3 units and two of them were over 8 months.
