Koil L.Even though I did check in online. I had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get key, Uhaul needs a better system. I also I paid for a hand truck and 1 dozen blankets. I received no hand truck and 6 blankets. No big problem, I could have noticed gtherf blankets and when I did not see a hand truck in the truck I told the Uhaul representative that I don't really need one.

barbara B.Arrived to pick up the truck at the designated pickup time of 8 am. Follow instructions for mobile pickup. The furniture dolly and furniture pads that were supposed to be left in/beside the truck were not there. Contacted customer service and they promptly removed those from my bill. Continue to go through the mobile pickup process. Given code to get keys in the designated key box. There were no keys in the box. Instructed to check other key boxes for the possibility that keys were placed in the wrong key box. There were no keys in any of the key boxes. The Uhaul store opened at 9 am so I waited until it opened to receive some help. Nobody showed up to open the uhaul store until 9:25 am. Finally received the keys to the truck. Attempt to open the driver's side truck door. That door doesn't open. Successfully get in through the passenger side door. The driver's side door lock was jammed and the driver's side door wouldn't open. Then went back into the store for the worker to attempt to open the driver's side door. The worker agrees to switch us to another truck. I was instructed that the new truck given to us was not cleaned but it was the only one left that we could use. Finally get to use the new truck with no issue. Run into an issue with the designated time to bring back the truck. Wait on hold for over 25 minutes to get an hour time extension due to the fact that we were about 1.5-2 hours behind schedule because of your employees' inability to provide the equipment needed for the move and a proper functioning truck at the designated time. Would not recommend anyone go through this company for moving equipment of any kind.

JAMES H.I reserved a hand truck to move a refrigerator. Even though I made a reservation the item was not available at the rental location. It made moving tha appliance much more difficult.
Peter M.I reserved a 10' truck to move. All my helpers took their time to help me. My 1st circumstance was I called Thomaston CT dealer and reserved a 10' and was told they had one and received a confirmation call to tell me my truck reserved was in Wolcott CT (not even close to my location. I explained that and I my reservation was moved to Waterbury CT. When I arrive to pick up my reserved confirmed 10' truck I am told that location had none, that they were over booked. I had to take a van. A van!, to move a 2 bedroom house with garage. No apology no compensation for the extreme inconvenience. An organzied move that should have taken 5 hours took 12 hours. I have posted on social media my interaction with this company. Your dealers in Thomaston and 560 Bank St represent your company and customer service in the most inept and inconsiderate manner. NEVER AGAIN. I am now an enterprise customer as are my family members, co-workers, and friends.

Wherrirson D.I had to return the Truck after store hours. I had trouble navigating the Truck Return process. The website would fail to load, or fail to accept my photo, or would not verify my location. Thankfully Robbie happend to be there! He was extremely helpful in walking me through the process even though it was almost 8pm. I have never experienced customer service like I had from Robbie. And I think he deserve a round of applause!

Eleanor W. | Overall Experiencewas shown a large display at the sales counter saying i would be charged $19.95 for the rental of the cargo van for the day, with 100 free miles at a rate of $.19 per mile. i even asked the clerk about the mileage rate and he confirmed $.19 per mile. but the very small print on my contract says $.59 per mile. i retuned the cargo van that night around 9pm only about 12 hours after i rented it. i put the key into the door drop as instructed. the next day i tried to contact the rental location and they dont pickup the phone so it rolls over to a uhaul operator. i told her the drop off mileage and the gas level. never heard from the rental place on my final bill. here it is now saturday morning, abd i rented the van on thursday, abd still do not have a final bill. i turned in the van clean with no damage, just like i rented it. why hasn't the rental contract been closed out by the branch i rented the van from?

LINDSAY H.Windshield had a large crack. Driver's door was replaced and key would not lock / unlock door. Also door did not seal properly, and all I heard for 255 miles was the whistling door! Finally seat belt would not retract. Overall this truck should have never left the yard! Definetly not worth the $291.00 I paid.

Jaitly M. | Online Move InThe app was not letting me pick up the trial so I went inside for help. The lady inside didn't want to be bothered and had an attitude. So I tried again online. Then when I told her it wasn't working again. She said okay hold on. And made me wait while she was on her cellphone. Then the van was parked to close to another van so I had to get in through the passenger side. So picking up the van was not easy
Nicole C.They charged $ 5 per gallon per fuel. They told me I had used 2.8 gallons for only 20 miles. I took the vehicle to pick up something located very close to the store. According to what they asked the vehicle consumption is 7 miles per gallon which is true only for a military tank and not for that type of small truck. The workers especially the woman (blonde hair) that was at the store on February 18, at 7:30 PM was very rude. Not only the company charges 5 dollars per gallon but rips costumers off with the consumption I did not fill it myself as the fuel gauge literally did not move and I thought I would pay 3 or 4 dollars when they asked for 14 dollars for the fuel. So no, I would definitely not recommend the store in Bank Street in Waterbury CT. They just don't make feel good and welcome.

I thought I could drop off the truck before the store closed but moving took longer than anticipated. The online app isn't the best.. as for those who use it not that often. Benjamin S.I'm an employee and I've been having a hard time with everything I was literally homeless for a few months and was literally just getting settled with my new apartment and was gonna pay off my balance but instead of understanding that I've been going through a lot and let me do like a payment plan they sold everything I own and left me with nothing I think that's very unreasonable seeing how I brake my back for this company and really do enjoy working here. I don't understand how you treat someone like that when I try my best everyday I come to work. And knowing I was going through all that you still sit there and put me through worse. I don't think I deserved that but i get it with all the policies and stuff but at the end of day I would of payed my balance but instead of getting your money that I owed you you rather sell my unit for 10 dollars.

I purchased the insurance with my rental, but upon returning the truck I am now being charged over $900 for the dents. The truck was not in perfect condition and now I'm being charged for damages. Even though I did not cause the damage, what was the point of paying extra for insurance if I'm going to be charged for a less than 2 inch dent? Very unsatisfied with my rental experience

RECARDO D.When someone ask for 24/7 access, how to acquire it should be clear. Not by someone being locked out of the building at 12a despite an employee stating we had 24 hr access to the unit. The door opening is the first step to actual access. This cost us time and money that wasn't necessary.

I closed out one of my units early was only credited back 2 months instead of 3 still trying to get that money back $209. I had another unit which was still paid in full. I came in one day to grab a few items and my access code locked out. Went back the next day during business hours to find a lock on my unit stating I was past due!!! I immediately went to the front desk to handle this to find out the computer system was saying I owed money. After dealing with the front desk which they were very helpful I was finally able to get it somewhat resolved until I started getting emails from you haul stating I was pass due and my items could potentially be auctioned off. Again back to the front desk and more dealing with them. It eventually got figured out but it was very frustrating. And now again after closing out both units I'm still awaiting my refund of $209 for a money I paid for that wasn't used. I mean come on. I paid over 3k upfront I shouldn't be having to deal with this.

My contract did not require a 'disk' style lock (it predated that requirement), but the RM was going to lock me out of my unit for not using a 'disk' lock. My contract dated back to 2011. U-haul emails 'encouraged' existing customers to use these locks, but did not require them.

KEITH F. | First ImpressionsI had storage for 2.5 years, almost the whole time I paid every month on time even the first year of the pandemic, the last couple of months I was late and harassed by email, text & call & by my secondary person on account, I also know other people whom had storage that had been late every month and there last payment wasn't paid for 3 months and you gave her option to pick up her belongings without payment. I was a valued customer and I was decent to this company and feel I was definitely cheated and harassed. And on day of completed move out I asked for a detailed bill dummy of my whole account and was told I couldn't get one and you don't do that. Well I believe that's a bad business and bad customer service. I pray for you all and this business for other valued customers. Unless I get a detailed bill of my account or some rebate of refund I wouldn't recommend this business to anybody or anyone. I did contact someone that worked before I moved out and the day I moved out. No help or assistance
Nicole M. | Overall ExperienceI had to jump through hoops for my free months rent and was unable to access storage unit for almost 2 weeks then charged late fee and never refunded late fee then when I tried to get in it still had red lock on unit. Loading and unloading sucks when you have several trucks being retrurned parked in front so it makes it very hard to load and unload. Late fee the day after unit is due in think is ridiculous. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will never use this facility again. This was 3rd time using but never again.

In the past 4 - 5 months, it has not been cleaned. Bathrooms have no paper towels and recently no hand soap. It is in a great location., so I would recommend the place if the two concerns are addressed.

When looking at the van the van had a very bad smell. I asked for Another van, when she replied there is nothing left. Also I had to go 1 way 30 minutes away and it was a big inconvenience having to go to another location to pick up another truck and return back there. When giving me the truck the truck barely had any gas. Took more time for me to leave the facility then actually going there getting my things out and going about my way. Horrible experience I wasn't happy at all.

We frequently rent trucks for our job and have used a few different locations (all of which have been good) but the Waterbury location has a great manager (I think her name is Alexis) as well as the best staff who always go above & beyond.

When I called the day of my move they said I didn't have a reservation when I had gone in person to make one. When I was given a storage unit and went to start unloading, the unit had a lock on it. I had to go back down to get another unit on a different floor. I ended up having to pay the movers an hour extra for all the delays.

More often than not they would make you feel like you should be happy they're helping you. Limited parking, low amounts of carts, and a dirty lobby all made for a bad experience!

I want to start by saying the woman working with us was new, so this is not her problem, but it was managements. Primarily I want to start off by saying NO ONE was wearing masks which is not okay right now. That was my primary issue because that's a safety/health issue and i am at risk. This move was not optional and i expected Ubaul to comply with health & safety directiom put forth by the CDC. In addition, the manager was walking around the store getting really close to me and walking around the store while the woman helping us (clearly new to Uhaul) was struggling. Our check in process took 55 minutes which was frustrating for many reasons. I missed my move out slot in NYC and because of that, I lost my reserved parking spot for my building. Everything we moved had to be carried around the block to where we were able to find a spot. I do however appreciate that they let us keep the van until the next morning. Everyone was nice and apologetic it is just frustrating that the process took so long and that the staff was not respectful enough to understand that everyone else coming in and out of the building was wearing a mask. There are glass shields at the register (which frankly is not enough) but I had plenty of interactions with employees away from that desk.
