Truck was filthy , dashboard parts had been repaired with what looks to be white household Culk and cupholder was falling out even with the "repair" done and when I picked the uhaul up my paper from the employee stated the uhaul had half of a tank of gas I get in and start the uhaul it was less than quarter dash said 18 Miles to empty , if I hadn't needed the uhaul in an an emergency on a tight time frame I would have went back inside but I didn't, the employee didn't even come out from behind counter to check the uhaul for any reason and I asked to be shown where it was parked he replied "we don't have many DC truck it can't be that hard to find"Richard M.

Better staffed store & better communication within the store. We got there & the trailer we supposed to have had a broken roller door. Then told they did not have another trailer & we would have look for another at another location. Mind you we booked this in advance as we were moving the next day. They offered a larger trailer at the same price however it was too big for us to haul. They gave us the number to local hotline & they stated they had a second unit on premises. We had to wait for them to find it & work us through the system again. Total time wasted was 2 hours for a simple scheduled pick up, time we did not have to spare.Deborah D.

I rented a cargo van to move mattresses. I reserved the van online several days ahead and had no problem when I checked in at the counter, I was done and on the road in about 15 minutes. The van was there but it wasn't clean. The cargo area was in decent shape, but the cab was dirty, especially the seats. The seats needed to be vacuumed and the steering wheel and dashboard needed to be cleaned. Thankfully it did not smell like smoke. The van ran fine, it was pretty comfortable and only used 7 gallons of gas for just under 200 miles, I was impressed. When I returned it, I had no problem at the counter and there were no unexpected charges. The staff were nice and very helpful. I drive by this location frequently and it always has several cargo vans, a couple of pickup trucks, what appears to be a good variety of box trucks, and various types of trailers. The day I rented the van was the middle of the month, I was the only customer there when I picked it up early in the morning and there were only 2 customers when I dropped it off an hour before closing time. I'm pretty sure that around the first of each month it's very busy and customer service issues are probably more likely to arise. Other than the dirty cab, I had a good experience and would rent from the location again.Nancy H.
They seemed short staffed which is a problem everywhere, however the issue was the truck I was given was in the middle of the truck line. I had to go back in and let them know. The nice desk guy tried to find the keys of the trucks at the beginning and end of the line but couldn't. So he had to get my truck out of the line and hit the trucks each time until he could drive out. I understand the wait in line because of being short staffed but it seemed very disorganized with the missing of the keys.Dana M.
People were great. Location perfect. Truck had an issue maintenance would not have picked up on. HVAC fan clicked on and off. So basically no AC on a 90 degree June day in Maryland. Went to pick up a trailer first off nobody knew where it was after several trips around the building it was located I back up to it hooked it up and found the left directional did not work after wasting 15-20 minutes with a test light checking my equipment well guess what it was Uhaul's equipment that failed then I was forced to rent a much larger trailer and you guessed it for more money not to mention my truck did not like towing this trailer AT ALL !!! In the end I ended up with two credit card charges and 5 days later still yet to receive a refund in my card, oh I forgot to mention I spent more time at waiting for a trailer than I did using the trailer it was used for less than an hour !!!TRAVIS M.

Stop lying to customers when they rent a uhaul scammers they try to the most money from you and always ask you first thing you bring it back the vechile is the gas right the way you took it etc.I would try not to get a uhaul again if possible,they need to be honest about what they tell you not lie to you in person.Michael D.

They tried to charge me $1,000 for an auto transport that I had returned the previous day. When I dropped it off, I made extra sure to get as much confirmation as possible that they have â€˜received' it as far as their system goes. They just kept waving me away. We started off the rental of the truck by being greeted with poor customer service. This was on the part of who I know now was the assistant manager and his employee. These two had more interests of their own besides helping us, the customer, in a timely manner. We finally were able I get out with the truck we needed. From the start we had an alternate contact listed as the driver which is allowed. I will be completely honest and say the truck was in fact returned with couches and trash in the back of the truck which is the last thing we would of thought from the persons we were allowing to be the driver and return the truck. Shortly after the truck was returned I received a receipt with the expected amount we thought we would pay. 3 hours pass by and we receive another receipt with an extra $400 tacked onto that original amount. I immediately called the store or what I thought was the store and went to a call center instead that gave us a 10 minute time frame for a call back that ended up being returned 35 minutes later. I asked them about the cleaning charge and the were able to confirm it was because there's items left. Advised I would be there immediately to clean the truck and remove the items. She said to let someone know at the store since she was just at a call center. When I got to the store itself I was confronted by the same manager that had better things to do previously. I calmly explained everything I just did about the items left and how I was there to clean the truck. He said the items were removed from the truck hours ago and that then began to start getting loud with me about they don't refund cleaning fees because it is the fault of the renter. I explained I am not the type of person to not clean a truck especially leave items in it. We also came as soon as we got the 2nd receipt with the added charge. It was in fact the driver we had trusted. I asked if they tried calling us before they charged such a significant fee. He said the manager that wasn't there tried calling earlier and I explained I didn't receive any calls. He continued arguing with me and finally asked if I would like to talk to the manager himself. He called him and explained everything from his side, how stuff was left and we want a refund for for the cleaning fee. I told them I would of cleaned the truck personally and removed the items right away if I was called. After several back and forth the manager agreed to refund $300 of the $400 if I removed the couches left. From the start I told them it was my goal to fully clean and remove these items. I was upset with the whole experience because of the lack of support given initially and the amount we were refunded. This is because it was the manager himself that stated to the assistant he did not call me after they found the items left and they didn't even see it upon the initial check. It was in fact another renter that found the stuff which tells me they didn't even check the truck in properly at first. That would also be the reason for the several hour delay between the two different receipts.Robert H.

We struggled for over and hour at the 157 Saratoga St location and she and her co worker helped us continue our day and got us a rental i cant say enough about Arriana and her co worker. Robinson rented me a truck that has ice on the windshield, which I had to get someone to clean off, but worse, there was ice and snow on the cube box of the truck! Which came off and could have damaged someone's vehicle, or injured someone! The truck was not set up for return correctly as I clearly stated one way, to get a free month of storage at the Cohoes location. Was not told storage room was raised, about 10 feet in the air before renting unit. Mobile stairs had to be placed, you'd unlock the door, then have to move the stairs out of the way to open the door, then move the stairs back. Unit had a huge beam and lots of wires running through it. Glad I was storing boxes and not bigger items. / Removed items from locker after hours. Called next day to close out. Direct Deposit was not stopped. Called to have stopped. Monies were withdrawn. Called to get refund. Six days later money had not been returned. Had to call again. I believe my issue has now been resolved. I hope. After 3 phone calls and being on hold 20 minutes each time I am not thrilled about this experience. I will still use this site again. Hello, I hate to write negative reviews but feel like feedback would be helpful. I rented a UHaul truck from NYC to Uhaul Cohoes. The representative on the phone told me I could use their climate controlled storage with one month free. She said the unit was on the ground floor. The unit i received was not only on the second floor but it was only accessible by these mobil "staircases". The staircase was falling apart and had no railing at the top which was extremely dangerous. To add, the unit was probably 90 degrees inside. When I rented my unit I was told there were stairs. I was NOT told that the stairs were on wheels, weight at least 25-30 pounds & are the most wobbly, narrow, unsafe, unsecure stairs ever. No way these stairs should be in the building. Scary. Further, after you push the extremely heavy stairs into place and unlock your unit, you can't open the door to the unit. The bars at the top of the stairs are in the way, so you have to drag the stairs away again, open the door and then drag the stairs back into place. And my unit was on the end behind a corner. So no pushing the stairs right up to my unit. I had to navigate a tight corner. Every trip to my storage unit was a nightmare.liz s. | Overall Experience
