Marcus Bell, the Facility Manager at Carson / Rancho Dominguez, is an outstanding example of an excellent U-Haul staffer. Ahead of me in line was an highly obnoxious customer, but Marcus dealt with a "Karen" in a firm, but appropriate manner. Kudos to Marcus for avoiding what potentially could have been an ugly situation.Robert L.

Late text 15 minutes before an 8am pickup. The trailer had not been returned the night before. No excuse for not contacting me earlier. Set up rental at another location without contacting me first. Ended up being 45 minutes extra driving round trip to pick up and drop off. Only went to that location as I could not get through to customer service. I concluded but the time I reached customer service to find another location I would be just as quick to eat the extra mileage. The secondary store experience was normal. They worked with me if I could not return same day, which was good. Ended up making it back before they closed. The customer that did not return on time should have been contacted the night before to get an ETA and then contact the affected customer and given options on locations rather than redirecting automatically last minute.Arthur D.

Tow dolly was dirty not well maintained. Accessories where not found on the equipment. Rude customer service . Front desk lady was more worry about her nails then assisting customer.I did not get any directions onto where to go . There was no one to load the dolly onto my vehicle . I had to go to the front and repeatedly ask for assistance . And was denied. Not professional this was 2 females and 2 males African American shiftJOSE V.

Horrible experience with u-haul. I thought as such a big company this would be an easy process. My truck that I reserved on Monday was rescheduled to 3 different locations without any confirmation. I don't understand how you can make a reservation for a truck that isn't there. Nevertheless we had to go to a location about 12 miles away from our house, when our original location was 4 miles from our house. I had called Friday to make sure we would actually have a truck since the days prior we had 3 different occasions our â€œreservationâ€ was moved. I called our FINAL location to make sure our truck would be there and the rude representative told me yes that it would be there. So come this morning on Saturday we go to pick up the truck and we're told there was no truck available for us and the representative was very rude and pretty much said there's nothing we can do and went back to typing on her computer. Luckily there was another representative who just told her to override the code and we were able to get a truck (wow all of a sudden they have a truck now) if it were up to her she would have dismissed us and went back to doing whatever she was doing. I will never use this uhaul service again and I will recommend all family and friends to use alternative services. Moving is already stressful and this company made everything so much more stressful.MARIO L.

The truck was amazing, NEW! The dolly's, pads and were not in the truck when I got home, my wife had to expend an hour going back and forward to pick them up. Nobody ever apologizes for the mistakes. The gentlemen taking the truck back was a complete different experience, very professional and understanding. The crew I hired wasted a whole hour waiting around to move things. NO GOOD!Aaron A.

Initial Drop-off: Fine The drop-off of the U-Haul U-Boxes was more-or-less fine! The staff was friendly, overcommunicated, and everything arrived on time and when it should've. But because I wasn't there to sign for them, I wasn't able to verify the number of furniture pads sent. On the inside of each U-Box it says '24' per box. I had 3 U-Boxes, so you'd think there'd be 72 pads? Nope. 48. A full 24 were missing. All of my receipts say '72', so I assume U-Haul is going to charge me for their mistake now. If not, then great. But the inaccuracy in what I received vs. what showed on the invoice is a mark against the the CA location. Delivery: Total Disaster Then there was the disaster of the final delivery. For over a month I had a date set. The boxes shipped and arrived nearly a week in advance of the delivery date. I get sent an email saying if I had a date sent, someone would contact me. Well, the date passes and no one contacts me. I have to wait on hold 30+ minutes 3 separate times to get a date set and register my complaint. Because it's going to take them 1.5 weeks to deliver it, I'm going to be charged 'rent' on the boxes. I'm promised a 'VIP Certificate' for the delivery--no such certificate ever arrives. I'm told I need to speak to the location manager to get a refund on the 'rent' I was charged because U-Haul screwed up the delivery. But, I get a new date set. Great. The date arrives and the delivery driver calls... but it goes to my silent SPAM filter. I call back in 10 minutes, he doesn't pick up. In fact, he doesn't take calls (he never once picked up the phone for me either time interacting with him). U-Haul uses this an excuse to cancel my delivery, saying that they needed to know where boxes were supposed to go. What the F is the point of having part of the web portal allow you to tell them where they should go, if this information isn't going to be relayed? I have to call again and wait on hold 2 times, 30+ minutes and get it set for the next day. So, finally, the next day they get here. At 6:56 AM. The day before, for a delivery time, I was told 12 PM - 4 PM. This just seems like an extra F-you from the U-Haul staff at this point. But, whatever, I was going to be awake in 4 minutes anyway and I'm happy to have my boxes. While out on a trip to Home Depot, the location manager tries to get a hold of me and leaves a message saying a refund would be processed. In his message he leaves a general U-Haul phone number. So, again, I have no way to directly reach him. Eventually, I get refunded on only 1 of 3 'rents' on the box. At this point, I'm pretty sure the company just relies on the fact that they have unrealistically long phone wait times to circumvent -actual- customer service. U-Haul should be ashamed.Gary H.

Communicate better with the customer. This is not an issue with the location but with the experience of the mobile pickup. I was sent a map that was inaccurate and had the wrong information. I also have rented many vehicles in the past and it took me almost 30 minutes to get my truck via mobile. It would have been better and quicker without mobile.Johnathan S.
The $19.99 advertisement is misleading. Once the insurance ,mileage and gasoline replacement is added in, it's well over $70. Since you scare people into adding the insurance, your price should at least be $39.99 + additional varying fees depending on your use.VICKI F.

I spent average 2-3 hrs on each day; e.g. with manager, Benjamin, starting on Friday, on 8/27-29. You informed me that the shipping is delayed to 9/7 from 9/4 originally, so I had to arrange my truck delivery day on another day from 9/4. Then, you guys notified me of the shipment availability on Rancho Dominguez via email on the right previous day while I had to change the delivery date to 9/10 (because YOU REPORTED that the delivery got postponed to 9/7.) I was like spending 2 hrs with yr guys in a daily basis because of yr poor communication. Then April, ali of sudden called me on Saturday,8/28, saying that it could deliver on the same day, Saturday. I was able to arrange the truck delivery & helpers, all together, thru Movinghelp.com at $285 on Sunday ! I realized it didn't work with me on delivering on Saturday as I couldn't arrange helpers all of sudden, and because I couldn't reach to anyone (or April) in the regional no., 424 329-5296, to cancel the Saturday service I ended up paying $300 for helpers on the day (I addressed this issue via email to yr guys right away on Saturday) My point was not only being so confused with yr changing dates and poor information, and spending time on the phone on each day accordingly, and it ended up causing me $300 additional in arranging helpers for the sudden delivery. It's way more than my budget. My landlord with super charged because Ubox wasn't picked up within 48 hrs, as a result they charge me $75 for their garage fee as the super had to park his truck on another garage. I need the money back of shipping and delivery of truck !! I'm gonna escalate this issue to corporation dept.HyunSook M.

My brand new mattress in plastic arrived with dead baby roaches on the inside and I had to throw away a great deal of my belongings. UHaul was not helpful or remorseful of my loss. Instead, the UHaul workers explanation for the roaches was an explanation in regards to how roaches lay their eggs and how long they take to hatch.Geanna M.
I notified warehouse that my movers were to pick up my u boxes three weeks prior and when my mover arrived there was no reservation. He was terrific and did what was necessary to obtain the boxes.L G.

There were at least five employees that I saw at the location who would come to the main floor from a back room and quickly return to the back room without acknowledging the customers who were there waiting for assistance. I personally waited in the lobby about 45 minutes while observing other customers come in and wait as well. The was another customer who came in and waited about 20 minutes without being helped. The picked up items they wanted and left with them without paying. When I reported it to the staff member who finally helped me, his response was â€œwell it's not coming out of my pocketâ€.CAROLYN W.

My boxes delayed in 2 weeks and because that U-Haul charged my an extra month. To come and pick up boxes, U-Haul also delayed, 2x. I won't recommend U-Haul for anyone and I won't use never againCarlos E S.

Due to the current state of affairs, the equipment should be disinfected. Once I returned home with my rental I felt it absolutely necessary to wash my hands and then sanitize the truck before further use. Greasy fingerprints and food particles and crumbs were all over the cabin area.Denise M.

Your website was useless to me. It would never acknowledge I had an order, let alone let me manage details. Every time I tried to call a location directly, I got into your automated system and I have literally held for HOURS over the course of this process, being dropped, hung up on, etc. We didn't get the correct number of blankets, so I had to ask for a credit since we had paid extra. However, the deliveries, pickups, and shipping went pretty well, except for the destination delivery and pickup, which were difficult to deal with since we don't live in a neighborhood where an 18-wheeler can navigate. Also, your people were friendly and at least feigned interest in helping us, except for the person who loudly yawned while I was trying to explain something to her, apparently I was keeping her up. If Uhaul doesn't do something about their website and excruciatingly long hold times, I won't be using them again.Kathleen G.

Improve on U-Box delivery scheduling by hiring 3rd party contractor when during peak season like this but over-all I am still satisfied with the great customer service accorded to me by the San Antonio, TX Delivery group that erased the delivery delay of my U-Box. I tried to call but the phone number only went to the corporate line and rang for over 30 minutes. I never got ahold of someone to ask if my items arrived.
