Your charges are unclear. I planned on a $20 rental, it cost me $64. It was supposed to be â€œcontactlessâ€, yet a number of problems with your automated process caused me to have to enter the building. The worst item was that, once I went through the lengthy online process that could only be completed onsite, delaying my project, then the lockbox code you provided me was incorrect. In summary, I felt like I was overcharged, misled on the charges, unnecessarily delayed due to your process and local mistakes, and unnecessarily exposed to people when I didn't want to and planned not to. I am a long time monthly U-Box rental customer and I am very disappointed in this experience. I welcome any remedies you feel appropriate, including a refund or discount off future services.Paul B.

The person working on my vehicle for the wiring was working at the rental desk, the propane station and a few other jobs. So my 90 minute appointment, which I believe could have been done in 30 minutes, actually took about 3 or 4 hours. But I was desperate so I just had to wait.Gregory C.

I had reserved a van in advance. When I arrived there were six people standing in line and only one person processing arrivals. I had to stand for 35 minutes. The young man behind the desk was cheerful, but the facility was woefully understaffed during Christmas week. The facility itself nothing but the online kind of crap was annoying AF. What's the point of doing all this online stuff to make it quick when I have to go wait for keys with customer service inside. I saw you had little combo boxes for the keys yet I have to go inside and wait for another customer to finish getting helped. Tighten that up. I made a reservation during the Covid pandemic for a mobile check-in and pick-up of a cargo van. When I got to the facility the mobile app directs you to a check in box. While I stood in front of this box on the wall, I basically had enter almost all the same information that I had entered during the reservation process. I also had to take photos of myself and drivers license. The app did not work. It would not recognize my selfie even though I followed the directions perfectly. A pop up conversation with a Uhaul rep was telling me to take another selfie, I did, still did not work. I ended up having to go inside and have someone at the counter check me in which therefore voided the ability of doing a mobile drop off when done which made me have another face to face with employees on site. The upselling of products during the reservation and check-in process is intense and repeated. Terrible experience.Mary Susan E.

They said the gas tank was on 1/8 of a tank and it was actually on Empty, the left rear tire needed air. They did add air and I had to stop and add air 2 more times during a 4 hour trip. That was an unsafe vehicle to take over the grapevine. I'm just glad I made it.Julie B.

The truck I had, definitely was big enough for the move. However, upon leaving, the vehicle's rpm revved up to 5000 and truck started to jerk forward and slide as I tried to apply breaks. It did it twice m. Informed the facility when I returned it. Pretty scary, luckily for me I was trained at a truck driver school, but if this was my wife or daughter, I'm positive they would have crashed. It happened with the tow on and off, so it definitely has a malfunction of some kind.STEVEN L.

There were two people who were working on installing the auto trailer to the truck and neither of them noticed there was no pin in the hitch. Additionally, the inspection sticker wasn't on the trailer from when they received it before I rented it. When I was unloading my truck from the back of the trailer, the weight caused the trailer to come off the ball since there was no pin holding it in place, and launched me and my truck back and up. Had I not had a manual winch anchoring the truck to the D ring on the trailer, it would've gone through my garage wall and I would've fallen though and under the trailer. Luckily I'm fine and there was no damage to anything other than a surface level scuff on the rental truck's tailgate. Gear inspections and procedural checks must be done properly and within periodicity. At least two people saw my rental and neither took notice of the incomplete installation nor the missing inspection sticker and the result would've been costly damages and severe injury had I not also provided my own safety gear. I'm a former military maintenance technician so the importance of these things is not lost to me. I'm also severely disabled due to gundecked maintenance checks and complacency like what I experienced with this rental. Please drive home the importance of check lists and procedure to the crew. If people need to carry checklists, do it. That would make any customer more comfortable. Other than this, the two gentleman who checked my rental back in were great, and it was nice to see the new employee not hesitating to ask his coworkers how to properly handle things like damage reports and technical issues instead of trying to just fail with an air of confidence in front of the customer. Oh and the new trucks are nice. Finally got power locks and windows.JW W.
This was really a terrible experience all around. The black lady who works at the customer service counter had a TERRIBLE attitude and unfortunately I had to encounter her 3 different times. She was belittling, not friendly AT ALL and extremely rude and pushy. I'm a 140 pound girl and I had to put the dolly on the truck myself. And this is all after picking up the truck at different location that was supposed to have the dolly WITH the truck. Very frustrating experience to say the least.KADIJAH W.

When I returned my rental truck to this location, the gas gauge was the same as when I rented the truck in Redding. The employee said the computer reported the gas level low and hit me with a $20 gas charge.. It is a real shame that U-Haul would, trade customer loyalty for $20, but that was you decision. The location was difficult to contact. I was put on extended hold numerous times or no one would answer, resulting in my call being forwarded to the national line, who had no idea how to fix my issue. I reserved a 6 x 12 two months prior and the day before I was to pick it up was told it wasn't available and was forced to use a 5 x 8. This caused me to make two trips which were two hours each way! I asked the guy why it wasn't available and he came up with the lame story someone else had rented it 2 1/2 months earlier. Why them wasn't I told that two month earlier. I had to drive 5 hours to there to help my daughter move so I had no other options. He kept trying to rent me an open trailer and I kept telling him it was heavy rain forecasted which is exactly what happened. Poor service!!!PAT M.

The truck was clean but it seemed it had no oil so the transmission was failing and the truck wasn't backing up and we had to go to another location in Northridge to try to switch it . But they didn't have a truck for us. They put oil and then we were able to use it. That experience made us lose time to figure out what to do about it and cost us money for paid labor for that time.REEM Y.
