The door to the unit I rented is damaged and doesn't open smoothly or close right. It was the only unit available so I took it anyway but it should have been fixed before renting out. The rest of the facility appeared very clean and well maintained.

STEVEN EI used the after hours pick up because my flight landed after uhaul was closed. The process was buggy but I made it through. The real problem was the van (with Arizona plates) that was provided didn't even have all season tires and it had been snowing in Bozeman where I rented. There was not even a windshield scraper to clean the windshield. I had to drive to Big Sky and it was dangerous with the equipment they gave me. I have been driving in snow all my life and could not imagine if someone inexperienced had to drive this. The management should have never rented this van with these tires in winter out there. I had to purchased some chains from AutoZone because I did not think I was going to make it to finish the job.

SARAH COther than the check engine light coming on midway through our trip everything went smoothly. Somthing that really irritated me though was there was a 'lot attendant'? Or at least someone standing around at the front of the building riding a little scooter thing around that clearly saw us there, 2 of my people got out of the car to c9me to my vehicle while I was struggling to finish up on your mobile app. Not one can I get this man? Greet us or ask us if we needed any help which clearly we did and continued to ride his little scooter around or stand around until I finally went inside and the gentleman at the desk helped me out. I was quite put off by this as he clearly was not doing anything before the 20 minutes that we were there just wanted to make you aware that's sometimes is simple. Can I help you or hello, and being acknowledged goes a long way. I can tell you if I saw one of my employees so blayton Lee, not helping out and having fun on a scooter at work, he would be fired immediately. You may want to watch tape. Other than that, we had a great experience.We will use us haul again

RANDALL Sreserved a storage unit. stopped by the day before my reservation began to look at the unit to make sure it was big enough for our items. an employee took us to show us the unit. we loved it and thought it would work perfectly. the next day when we arrived the pick up a truck and secure our storage unit there was suddenly no storage units available. the only thing he could offer me was a bigger unit for $50 more per month which was out of our price range. he called the other uhaul location and told us they were also climate controlled. we got to the other location only to find out they are in fact not climate controlled. we wasted nearly 3 hours of our morning trying to secure a storage unit elsewhere in town. what's the point of a reservation system if it doesn't actually reserve the unit for you? we never got a unit and now i've been bombarded with emails and texts from uhaul asking for a review. I wasn't going to bother but the company keeps pushing for it so this is it.

CHRISLER LReserved a 15ft truck a month ahead. The day before my reservation I get a call from UHaul and informed that my reserved truck isn't available. Upon asking what the point is of reservation, if they won't have it available, I am answered with "I don't know". The people ON the location we're kind and helpful and I know it's not THEIR fault but Uhaul in general. Remove the reservation option if you are offering reservations for products you don't have (and confirmed).
BARA CI was charged for fuel even though I returned the vehicle with a half tank just like I received it. Check engine light was on.
JONATHAN HThere was no one in the shop and only one outside, hosing down a trailer. I don't blame him, it sounds like he wasn't told his friend was on break, but it would really be nice to have an extra employee or two on hand...
HANS SPicked up a 26' truck. Zero information was provided concerning even lights, tow/ haul mode, wipers or even how the "menu" worked to establish mileage and range. They couldn't even provide a copy of the contract. Just handed me the key and sent me on my way.

ANDREW WWent to pick the U-Haul up and the at the ended up not having the at we reserved had to go to a different location went to pick up the truck and all the running lights were out windshield was filthy it had no gas in it they fixed the running lights while I stood in the parking lot for an hour and a half we loaded the car onto the at and the tire was flat they had to change the tire out so much confusion that was unnecessary. When I arrived at my destination they called and told me the U-Haul was checked in but where was it? I told them it will still sitting in my driveway I hadn't checked it in yet. It was just one thing after another. At the end of the day we made it to our destination but it was one problem after another just trying to get out of Montana with it. I've used U-Haul before a couple times and never had this kind of experience. Before I could even leave town they had to fix the lights fix the tire it didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about going 2500 miles basically.

Rachelle S | Overall ExperienceThe reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that our paperwork was lost when we made the appointment for installation. We had to call to see about when it would be done. Then, probably due to the lost paperwork, the wiring was not done. We live 50 miles away so this is an inconvenience. We now have to bring the truck back for the wiring to be done. The work on the hitch was done quickly and well.
Bruce HDents on the trailer. Items from previous renter still in the trailer. Door was really in need of lubrication. It was VERY difficult to use. All in all there were several indications that this trailer got little or no maintenance.

DARREN SThis location was short staffed. There were 3 people ahead of me and no employees were in the store when we arrived. We and the other customers waited 10 minutes before any employees arrived to assist us. It slowed down the return process. A sign would have been helpful.

Troy BSTaff very busy, had to wait at check in and check out. Did a great job. Easy to make a reservation. But, my reservation was for 10AM & the text I got the day before said 9AM. I was also told it would take 4 hours, so I made plans to run errands with my other car during that time. It only took about 30-45 minutes.
Julie JThe worker at the Bozeman location was nice and helpful. The link they send you to go over all the damages and mileage doesn't get sent until after you drive away and they say nothing about it so it seems highly easy to not fill this out which results in them being able to hold you liable for any damages at the end of your trip. The drive went fine, I felt like it was quite expensive but also everything is expensive these days. I didn't mind paying that much if it meant we had reliable roadside assistance but that didn't seem like the case. Our transmission slowly started to go out to the point where we didn't feel safe to go further considering we were driving on a busy freeway with no shoulder. We pulled over and called the road side assistance number which had a 20 minute hold time so I used the app instead and got sent to someone who was kind but confused and it seemed sort of like they had no clue where we were or what u haul would do to help us or what locations we're even available to help us. They said it would be a 2.5 hour wait and that often times that when the wait time is too long that it resets and they find someone else to help which was concerning to hear considering it was later in the day and we didn't know if we were gonna make it to our destination or not. It wasn't that far luckily but we were in a VERY populated area and saw 10 different u haul locations within several miles so I can only imagine the shit storm that would happen if we broke down in the middle of no where which we did pass through lots of spots like that. We eventually decided to keep pushing because we didn't have any idea on how long we may be stranded at a random location. we drove it very slow and finally made it but it seemed on its last limb.
BROOKS CYou can start taking appointments at all locations for the ease of customers who cannot just leave their vehicles or wait there for hours without any customer waiting area.
Glenn EThe truck had oil spilled inside the box from a previous user which I had to clean up. Then a metal access plate was damaged and loosened so it was hard moving items with a hand truck. When I returned no one acknowledged my presence for some time until I spoke up. I was told I would be charged for the hand truck but was. Very poor customer service. Will not likely use again.

Matthew HThe staff picking up and dropping off was great. They either met me as soon as I arrived or got to me in line. I felt that they valued my time. The trailer had a little debris in the bed from the previous renter. The gentlemen helping me said that should have been cleaned by their team and offered to do it right then. I was in a hurry, so I let him know that I was fine as is. I must say that I have been impressed by the staff; uniforms, the old "Les Schwab" level of service. Keep rock'n it guys.

Then said was waiting and told a 3 hour wait. Was sitting across the street drinking coffee for an hour. Got a call and said installation complete. Thank you for getting it done faster than said.
Samuel RIt was a 3 day rental for a local event. I had originally reserved a 15' truck, but then had to upgrade to a 20' truck due to changing logistics a couple of days before the event. They were able to easily handle that change. I used the online check-in feature which made the pickup fast and easy. Their equipment return lane made the return quick and simple, too. The staff was friendly and helpful!
Richard TAbsolute disaster to park, the worst location we’ve been to and we’ve been using uhaul for over 10 years now.
ROBERT AI rented a van and car dolly on Sunday. It overheated an hour in to the trip. I sat for 3 hours only to have road side assistance cancel. I eventually was able to get to the location with the vehicle where they switched vehicle out with a different unit. By this time I could not get back to where I was going so this cost me an extra night in a hotel. I returned the unit the next day and was double charged. I was furious and filed a refund request where U-Haul told me it could take three business days before they get my money back to me. Terrible experience and ripped off

KEVIN SHire more people. Have more supplies available. They ran out of blankets at both Uhaul stores in town. I will say that the staff I encountered worked very hard with what they were given and should be given a raise. They were incredibly helpful. I would suggest having one person just to answer the phones. I called several times and the phone never got answered. The inside of the truck was filthy and the windshield was covered in bugs.

Cornelia B | First ImpressionsThere was a pigeon trapped inside the facility and there were feathers and bird droppings through out the facility. We had reserved a 10' truck that was not available when we arrived. We did receive a 15' truck at the same cost, but that did not offset the extra cost of gas. We had also prepaid for two small boxes and requested a hand dolly that did not make it to the reservation switch from a 10' to a 15' truck, so we had to pay for a more expensive appliance dolly. The truck had been swept out, but the front of the truck and windshield were covered in bugs. I tried to buy a cheaper lock, but the clerk talked us into a more expensive combo lock. We had trouble using it and one of the technicians at the shop helped us to get it closed. When we arrived at our destination we could not get it open. We had to call roadside assistance to come cut the lock off. It took them almost two hours to arrive from Denver. He was very helpful and nice and it only took him about 5 minutes to get it off.

The closing time of 7pm made it very difficult to access with my work schedule, they never fixed the alarm system in the 3 months I rented. Even just asking them to unlock the sliding door took 15 minutes because I had to wait in line to talk to the only employee they had in the office.

We cleaned it, submitted our photos and move out request online. One week later the request was still pending and they had charged our account for the next month plus a late fee. I had to call to get it sorted out, which makes me not trust the online system.
Colleen F | Overall ExperienceIt started when I needed a small storage unit. Priced as advertised on the wall and in flyers differ. One employee gave me a coupon for one month free and the other said it was not valid unless I had driven a rental truck. One employee assigned me a small unit after another and several were with belongings of customers that were held up because of lack of payment. Eventually she gave me a slightly bigger unit. I had already paid for the smaller unit and understood it to be your policy that if a smaller unit (the one the client wanted) is unavailable then the next one up is given at the lower price. A month later when I get a bill it is $30 higher than expected. I go ask several times in person and I am always told that the supervisor will take care of lowering my bill, that I just need to swing by when she is in. Eventually I coincide with her but she says, in a short manner, that she will not adjust anything and that the higher fee was to remain. As soon as I could I emptied the unit and cancelled my contract. You understaff the facility too, whenever one goes the line is short but customer care takes forever.

They sold my storage, didn't have me on file and gave me a 5x5 instead for a packed 6x12 trailer and a filled suburban. I had to extend my trailer time and pay 80 for a different storage mentioned by the staff. So now I've paid more than double what I was contracted.
BRANNON R | First ImpressionsHere's the small thing first. You might want to update and revise your wording on office hours and access hours. I was under the impression that after checking into my unit that I had until 10pm access my unit. While moving my things into my units(argh!) I was told I needed to be out by 7pm... I was moving cross country and got there at 5:30pm. Here's the big one. I reserved one of your biggest units since I had a lot of stuff. I called 2 or 3 hours ahead of arrival to make sure everything was in order and was assured by the lady everything was and the unit was ready. When I got there I was told that my reserved big unit was not available like I was assured and have paperwork on. It was to be on first floor as well so my 75 year old father didn't have to take stairs. I was offered 2 smaller units that barely allowed my furniture to fit nicely and not pretty much everything is just thrown in these two units because of size constraints and time allowed. My plan for the big unit was to make everything accessable to me when needed, it is not. Why have reservations for your units if you can't honor them? Again I called to confirm 2-3 hours before my arrival and was assured that it was there waiting for me! I would have looked elsewhere, but couldn't take the time to do so on account of the time I arrived, returning back from Seattle, and that the trailer was due back in Laurel the next day. The two guys that were helping me we're fine even though I was quite frankly very angry at this situation. They did try to help as much as possible. I could rattle on and on over this, I will end with I am great disappointed with u-haul and its failure to honor its word. I expect more from the people here in MT.

We have 3 units in Pleasanton CA where we live. It's spotless And has a courteous staff. 2 weeks into having this unit I received a phone call from a young man there letting me know he had let a patron inadvertently cut our lock off thinking it was his unit I could not understand why it wasn't one of the workers there. His response to me was mistakes happen. Then tells me keys are hung up on the wall for the new lock. I asked him to please put them in the safe and that I would have. A friend come pick them up. Completely inconvenient. Happy to be done with this unit. Gracias
