This was not the place I was told to drop off the 10ft truck. I was told to drop it off at Sun Auto Service. Once I arrived I was told I couldn't park it there as there were too many trucks in their lot. I was told I had to drive it to this location. Again - extremely inconvenient and I was not told the location had to be changed. Upon arriving to this location it was not clear where to park the truck. I went inside and an extremely rude woman asked me why I was there. She was curt and condescending. When I complained and asked for direction, she told me to follow signs and was not very helpful at all. I was already frustrated due to how picking up and dropping off went and informed her of this. She said it wasn't her fault and I shouldn't complain. Since she works for your company, she is a representative. She does not have customer service expertise at all. Very unprofessional. They try to squeeze every bit of extra money out of you. I rented a cargo van and nothing was said online about insurance being mandatory to buy with the Cargo van which would be another $30+. They said we had to get the insurance or rent the 10ft truck which insurance isn't mandatory. We did not feel comfortable driving a truck but we did it anyway because the two women behind the counter were very rude and when I said I would like to speak to a manager they shut me down and said they would say the same thing. Very rude. I also told them the gas was less than half (they told me it would be half) and they said to text a picture of the gage and when I did there was no response but I just let it go because I was done with the arguing. The first rep, didn't know how to reverse charges, then manager came and they wrote my name wrong on sheet. And in their system, so it was hard to find me. Then the 2nd rep in the evening when we decided to actually rent the truck, had issues with charging me. She also gave me wrong info to Go to wring truck, I had to come back in and wait in line all over so they can give me direct paper work for the correct truck. Then drop off service I was not able to create an account or app could not find my account for me to properly drop off, I had to wait 20 Min to speak to someone in customer service to help me. DO NOT USE the online reservation system. I made a reservation a month early for a one way rental. Not once did it tell me that the location I chose for pick up did not do one way rentals. Not once did it tell me that the time I chose was not a guarantee. U-Haul does not notify you until the day before your move that all of that can change. And then they had an equipment failure so the truck I thought would be available at 8am was not available until 12:30. Then we were told we could drop it off at any U-Haul in our destination city. Wrong! The drop off location, that we chose with a U-Haul representative, informed us AT drop off that they had no room for our truck. We then had to find our way to another location across the city. I had signed up to go to a location just 5 minutes away, and that was on my confirmation email. I was told that I was not able to drop it off at that location the day we picked up the Uhaul, and I had to call an 888 number and sit on hold for 45 minutes before being informed that I had to drive 30 minutes away in rush hour traffic to drop off the Uhaul. I was very disappointed at this as it was a waste of gas, time, and energy.Katie M.

The U-haul location at 4055 Broadway in Chicago, IL, refused to accept my trailer return, even though I had indicated that as the return location on my reservation and they allowing the return of trucks. They said they didn't have space and go find another location. I asked them to call to find a location that would accept my trailer, and the worker told me it was not her job. I spent an hour and a half driving to two other U-haul locations before being able to drop the trailer off. U-haul should train their employees on the basics of customer service. U-haul should not allow their locations to refuse a return. If not, U-haul should update their website to indicate which locations do accept returns.Joseph P.

I had a terrible experience with the associates at the store. I went inside to pick up a rental truck and check-in for my rental unit to provide my renters insurance, redeem my free lock and the free month of storage email that I recieved after renting the truck. I was told I needed to get back in line to handle my rental unit after picking up my vehicle because there was a line. I went to the truck and pulled it up to the entrance and the door was already locked 15 minutes early. I stopped an associate to ask if I can be let in, I was told no and that my lock would be in the storage unit. When I found my unit there was no lock provided, I then pressed the customer service button in the facility and was told to come back to the store. I retrieved the lock but was refused when I tried to discuss the free storage promotion. Once I moved my belongings in, I realized that the latch was stuck and I could not close it to lock it. Cargo Van gas tank was almost empty. The van had serious wear and tear and damage that was not noted. Front desk personnel was extremely disorganized and did not explain instructions. We were sent to THREE different locations to pick up our truck. The first location told us that the site had been moved. The second location didn't have a truck and I waited on hold for over 30 minutes in order to speak to a customer service representative. That person sent me to another location to get a truck, but never apologized for the fact that there was no truck ready at the first two locations. Made a reservation for pick up at another place. Reservation showed I would pick up at the location I selected. Took an Uber there. Once I got there and tried to check In online, it showed I had to go to the kedzie location to pick up. Took another Uber. They did not have online pickup. I opted for the online check-in process which started out fine, but when I was towards the end of the check-in process, I had to still go inside to get the key. The app said to "skip the line", but you still feel weird doing this, especially when there is only one person working behind the counter and isn't asking people if they checked in online. Everything on the top layer was soaked through and moldy, as the top of the unit had leaked. I had to throw out a lot of stuff. This was IN NO WAY my fault. I did everything asked of me and had no liquids in the unit through transport. The pods need to be made of a higher quality material and better weatherproofed. Mold is devestating.Shawn C.

The manager, Charles, was very professional and respectful and he helped me getting my storage unit without any hardship. However my poor rating goes to the first staff I had to encounter after being in line for about 20 minutes. She wasn't professional and respectful. Upon arriving at the counter, I said I'm here for my storage reservation. She didn't take the time to look at her screen and check, replying "we do not have any available storage" without asking me what specifically I was looking for. I reminded her about my reservation and that I checked two times over the phone, a few days prior to that day and she showed no concern, referring me to the 800 number even though she has full access to that facility on Kedzie. I said, can you offer me something else since I counted on this space and I just got less attention and care as if she just wanted to skip serving me as a customer. she insisted no one has moved as of today, then no unit were to be available. I had a feeling she wasn't doing her job. Asking to speak to her manager, Charles, I finally realized that they do have two units available. Charles was very professional and I'm only dissatisfied with the staff poor communication and service. I had put all the efforts to reserve a space, and even double checking by calling the 800 number and the facility itself, and had I not been helped by the manager, who was temporarily outside at the time of this whole encounter, all my moving plans would've been ruined. I didnt realize about the disarming the unit at first so that was confusing but overall I have had three different storage units in three different companies and this was absolutely the most secure for my garbage lol. The staff was amazing they are very fun and make great jokes. That hill at the front is a bit treacherous but i made it up fine with out any damage to my garbage. I had a reservation prior to standing in the line to sign my contract. After waiting in line for 45 minutes I get politely told there are no more storage units at the facility... Even though I had a reservation. I then get a phone number of the manager to call so I utilize it and he starts texting me. He gives me a unit and which is smaller than what I reserved and when I get to the unit with the movers I'm paying BY THE HOUR...There is a pipe in the middle of it. Everything was pretty great. Well lit and clean storage facility. My only complaints/frustrations are: 1) requiring a round lock on the unit that is 3x the amount of a regular lock. Very annoying. 2) Hard to get ahold of someone via phone. They pick up and answer "please hold" without even asking who it is or the reason for the call. Although the facility was satisfactory-the rates were high. I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the $97 rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was $61 cheaper. The staff at this location we're also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,"I'm just here to do my job. Don't want to know about your day or you.". Don't get me wrong, everyone has a bad day-but I experienced this attitude from more than one person on more than one occasion.Edna L. | Overall Experience

The only problem I has was that I reserved a truck to move 2 weeks ahead of time. And when I got there they had no truck for me. That was the main office who made the big mistake. Thank God that after a while I was still able to move.Maria R. | Overall Experience
I was told I would get refunded the miles I did not use which was over 300 miles and I still haven't received a refund , made a claim got a claim number and no one ever got back to me . I am still waiting for my refund !BRYAN G. | First Impressions
The process to rent a unit online was easy, but when it came to moving in, I might as well have been invisible. The cashier barely spoke when I picked up the free lock, and then when I came back to find scissors because they had a plastic lock on the unit, she didn't even acknowledge my presence to see if I needed help. While the staff apologized for their errors, the service experience was poor. I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. My understanding it is strongly enforced by CDPH and BACP and may be something Uhaul upper management will have to review immediately.Miriam L. | First Impressions
