The fkoor in the uhaul location was being painted and the odor was unbearable and smelled toxic. After only 15 min at the front desk I felt nauseous. I truly felt sorry for the indoor personnel who had to endure the strong noxious odor for their entire shift. Recommend to do indoor painting after hours when customers and most employees aren't going to be exposed to such noxious and possibly harmful odor.Lauren K.

Wasn't clear I had to report fuel gauge level when accepting truck. But uhaul rep said not a problem. We had only driven 5 miles, so fuel gauge stayed at 3/4 full and they didn't charge us extra. Overall good experience, nice uhaul reps.harris F.
The location was fine, just not my chosen location and quite a distance away, as the location I reserved at was walking distance from my condo. On a Saturday morning they should have more than 1 person providing customer service. Having customers wait in line for over 30 minutes is really not acceptable, especially when pick up times are reserved so you know approximately how many customers are coming in.Sean B.

The whole facility was nice, the guy who installed the hitch assembly was professional wasn't bothered when I asked to see the hitch prior. He showed me how it would be installed and you could tell he took pride in his work. The hitch3 I bought from Uhaul was not safely installed. The installer used 3 out of 4 mounting screws. The 4th screw was not easily accessible (behind the exhaust pipe), and the installer ignored it. I'm glad I didn't attach anything heavy to this hitch. I used it to carry a bike rack. I'm beyond disappointed as I unwittingly created a road hazard for myself and other car drivers. What happened to the phrase: safety first?Wojciech T.

The uhaul drivers both in Chicago and Seattle we're friendly, and I appreciated their call when they were on their way. I just wish it was more clear when I originally booked over the phone that the delivery to my new house wasn't included - I was happy to pay for delivery, but I was under the impression that was already a part of the plan. I didn't find out until my box was already in Seattle that it wasn't already set up for delivery at my place.Erica B.

I received no notice that my hitch hadn't come in until I showed up to my appointment to have it installed. I was told a manager would call me to reschedule but that didn't happen so I called a few hours later to rescheduled and confirmed the rescheduled date/time. When I showed up to the rescheduled appt I was told the appt was for an hour and half earlier and the office had tried calling but I had no missed calls. They said they could still fit me in and I confirmed that they had my correct number since they told me they would call when it was done. Several hours later with no call, I called in to check on the status and was informed my installation was complete. A completely disorganized operation and disappointing service.Ashley V.

Made me go to a different location to pick up vehicle that I made a reservation for a month in advance. Took 1hr for representative to solve the problem which resulted in extra miles on vehicles increasing my rate then delayed us for our movers with cost us even more money. This failed experience ended up costing me $200+ because U-Haul could not hold a reservation or solve the problem in a timely cost effective manner. NO HELP AT ALL. This was NOT where we contracted to drop off the truck. You moved the drop location nearly 30 minutes out of the way with no public transporation available to get home. We were behind schedule due to the change and got ZERO help when we arrived to drop. We were told to use the mobile app. Followed directions and put key on the mail slot marked KEY DROP and where the guy working told us to put it. One hour later received a call from a RUDE woman claiming to be that the drop site accusing us of NOT dropping the key in the slot and threatening us! I told her we absolutley 100% did put the key in the correct slot drop and she said "we'll see about that when my manager reviews the video footage." I replied to her then PLEASDE DO because we dropped it in the appropriate location. WE WILL NEVER EVER USE UHAUL AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE TO SHARE OUR HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH FRIENDS AND ON SOCIAL PLATFORMS.Kendall M.
My wait time was obnxiously long. I had signed up for the first spot of the day, which was a "wait with the vehicle" time, and the process ended up taking about 5 hours. I was able to go to a nearby coffeeshop for a couple hours, but came back for the estimated finish time. There was no seating in the facility, so I was forced to stand or sit on the ground for the next 3 hours, as I was continually told, "They're almost done. Just a little bit more." I had to ask ever 30-45 minutes where the process was, as no one else was being proactive with it. Upon reviewing the workmanship, the fascia cutting was also poorly done. It was left roughly cut and very uneven on both sides. Finally, I actually tried submitting or contacting support over a month ago regarding these issues, but the online form to request a review was not working, even though I had a confirmation number and account, it never sent me a link for review (I'm surprised I received this one).Geoffrey O.

The entire U-Haul hitch installation process was a big nightmare. From the time I drop off my car to the three times I went back and check on the car. It was a nightmare. One of the three times was after a phone call that I received that the car was ready. When I arrived at the U-Haul dealer, the car wasn't even being worked on as far as hitch installation. Then when I hooked on the trailer hitch/ball mount was too low and the trailer arm had practically no clearance from the street/ground. So I had to stop at another U-Haul dealer on my trip/move down to get a new ball mount installed which further delay the move.Sean M.

I had a terrible experience with the associates at the store. I went inside to pick up a rental truck and check-in for my rental unit to provide my renters insurance, redeem my free lock and the free month of storage email that I recieved after renting the truck. I was told I needed to get back in line to handle my rental unit after picking up my vehicle because there was a line. I went to the truck and pulled it up to the entrance and the door was already locked 15 minutes early. I stopped an associate to ask if I can be let in, I was told no and that my lock would be in the storage unit. When I found my unit there was no lock provided, I then pressed the customer service button in the facility and was told to come back to the store. I retrieved the lock but was refused when I tried to discuss the free storage promotion. Once I moved my belongings in, I realized that the latch was stuck and I could not close it to lock it. My husband had to run to a gas station to get WD40 just to get the latch unstuck. Overall, it was a very negative experience.Ariel G. | Online Move In

The manager, Charles, was very professional and respectful and he helped me getting my storage unit without any hardship. However my poor rating goes to the first staff I had to encounter after being in line for about 20 minutes. She wasn't professional and respectful. Upon arriving at the counter, I said I'm here for my storage reservation. She didn't take the time to look at her screen and check, replying "we do not have any available storage" without asking me what specifically I was looking for. I reminded her about my reservation and that I checked two times over the phone, a few days prior to that day and she showed no concern, referring me to the 800 number even though she has full access to that facility on Kedzie. I said, can you offer me something else since I counted on this space and I just got less attention and care as if she just wanted to skip serving me as a customer. she insisted no one has moved as of today, then no unit were to be available. I had a feeling she wasn't doing her job. Asking to speak to her manager, Charles, I finally realized that they do have two units available. Charles was very professional and I'm only dissatisfied with the staff poor communication and service. I had put all the efforts to reserve a space, and even double checking by calling the 800 number and the facility itself, and had I not been helped by the manager, who was temporarily outside at the time of this whole encounter, all my moving plans would've been ruined. I didnt realize about the disarming the unit at first so that was confusing but overall I have had three different storage units in three different companies and this was absolutely the most secure for my garbage lol. The staff was amazing they are very fun and make great jokes. That hill at the front is a bit treacherous but i made it up fine with out any damage to my garbage. I had a reservation prior to standing in the line to sign my contract. After waiting in line for 45 minutes I get politely told there are no more storage units at the facility... Even though I had a reservation. I then get a phone number of the manager to call so I utilize it and he starts texting me. He gives me a unit and which is smaller than what I reserved and when I get to the unit with the movers I'm paying BY THE HOUR...There is a pipe in the middle of it. Everything was pretty great. Well lit and clean storage facility. My only complaints/frustrations are: 1) requiring a round lock on the unit that is 3x the amount of a regular lock. Very annoying. 2) Hard to get ahold of someone via phone. They pick up and answer "please hold" without even asking who it is or the reason for the call.
