I reserve online when I went to store I have another 1.5hrs to process I thought when u reserve online u just have to pick up, when I got the trailer it was defective and I have to exchange it they took a while to exchange it, I only used the unit for 2 hrs but they charge me for 2 days what the heck going on, I'm not coming back in this location bad service.John R.

Easy to find and access. It was busy with a long line of vehicles being returned. Although I was returning my vehicle early, I was moved up in the line and got out of there in just ten minutes. Jorge was great to work with!Terence S.
I set up a pick-up time for my u-boxes and my movers called to confirm, too, as they were the ones picking them up. They arrived half an hour early and the boxes were still not loaded onto the appropriate trailer. I ended up having to leave my apartment to drive the keys to the uboxes over to them so that they could unload and re-load my furniture and boxes into a separate truck. So extremely frustrating and caused a delay.Rose C.
The manager, Charles, was very professional and respectful and he helped me getting my storage unit without any hardship. However my poor rating goes to the first staff I had to encounter after being in line for about 20 minutes. She wasn't professional and respectful. Upon arriving at the counter, I said I'm here for my storage reservation. She didn't take the time to look at her screen and check, replying "we do not have any available storage" without asking me what specifically I was looking for. I reminded her about my reservation and that I checked two times over the phone, a few days prior to that day and she showed no concern, referring me to the 800 number even though she has full access to that facility on Kedzie. I said, can you offer me something else since I counted on this space and I just got less attention and care as if she just wanted to skip serving me as a customer. she insisted no one has moved as of today, then no unit were to be available. I had a feeling she wasn't doing her job. Asking to speak to her manager, Charles, I finally realized that they do have two units available. Charles was very professional and I'm only dissatisfied with the staff poor communication and service. I had put all the efforts to reserve a space, and even double checking by calling the 800 number and the facility itself, and had I not been helped by the manager, who was temporarily outside at the time of this whole encounter, all my moving plans would've been ruined. We initially had a Uhaul reservation at the 1712 S Wolf Road Wheeling, IL location and it was AWFUL. The man had his doors locked, when we called him he told us that our reservation was canceled although we had made it there just before our time window for pickup ended. When I asked for help he meanly stated, "this isn't my problem". It nearly ruined our ability to move and absolutely ruined our day/weekend. This is all after we drove 30 minutes just to get there because the city "didn't have any Uhauls in the city". Thankfully the Avondale location had a truck we could use the next day but we had to completely go into survival mode for a day. I'm still so angry about how the man treated us in Wheeling. It was awful and I'm hesitant to use Uhaul ever again.Carly S.

I stopped using Uhaul years ago simply because they are rip offs. They take deposits and put it on hold, when you return the rentals they still will charge you another payment different from the deposit and never refunds back the deposit. My reserved truck was not on site. There were multiple trucks not being used on site but I had to wait an hour for other trucks to come back before I was given one.Carleton R.
It seemed very unorganized on the morning of the 31st (a known big moving day). Trucks weren't ready, didn't have their keys available, and many were parked in. The team was scrambling the whole time and this caused huge lines to build up. I waited for about 45 minutes for 7 people in front of me, and there were multiple lines. I also had reserved a storage space which they didn't have available when I showed up, so I had to go to another U-Haul location which had a smaller space than I had reserved.Connor C.

Let me preface this by saying, I am a customer service doormat. If the waiter brings me the wrong glass of wine, I drink it without complaint. One time someone spilled a drink on my lap and I apologized for the disruption to their day and tipped 20%, because we're all just doing our best out here. UHaul Avondale was the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and the only time I've ever had a back and forth type exchange with anyone in customer service. I understand that it's the end of the month at a moving company, and that we're stressed, the employees are stressed, etc. But this was beyond the pale. We arrived around 20 minutes before our reservation at 10:30, which we assumed would be more than enough time, since we hadn't been told otherwise. We ran into some technical glitches with the mobile pickup option, but we followed prompts and got to the point where they call someone for identity verification. I understand that employees don't have control over the system, so I wasn't mad at all. After we did that, the process stalled and we went to ask a UHaul employee on the lot. He told us to go directly to the counter and cut the line. We did that, wondering what could possibly be so urgent that someone would instruct us to do so. When we got there, the larger man sitting on the left side of the calendar told us very rudely to get in line. We told them that another employee had instructed us to do so, and he became much ruder. It turned out that the first person we talked to told us to jump the line, because the rude man in question was renting the truck we had reserved to someone without a reservation, and that was why the app stalled. We got in line, desperately trying to work through the app. It got to the point where the app instructed us to pick up keys to a different truck, and we did so. At this point, another employee was helping us, and we were getting it figured out with her. She was great and cheerful under stressful circumstances. As she was helping us, the rude man started yelling at us from across the counter. He said that his employee who told us to cut the line was wrong, offered to berate the employee in front of us, and tried to tell us that we were in the wrong for not showing up earlier. He consistently escalated, trying to argue with us even though the matter was taken care of instead of helping other customers. I wish I'd gotten the name of the first and third employees to give them compliments. Their boss seems like a dreadful person to work for, but they were very cool and professional. The rest of the UHaul experience was great, but I would never recommend this location.Kendal W.
I'm not really one to leave reviews, but I was really surprised by how poor the customer service was. The 2 representatives at the front desk loudly talked about other "bad" customers in front of other customers. They seems frustrated at everyone who walked up to the desk, and kept talking about how close their break was. One of the front desk workers even mouthed off and raised her voice to a customer who wasn't getting what she wanted. Moving is already really stressful, but that type of customer service climate escalates an already stressful day for people. Thankfully, the truck I rented was available, though the inside seats had spills on them and the inside smelled like body odor. The check out process was also unclear and we ended up having to talk to 3 people, none of which made eye contact and acted annoyed we didn't know what to do. I worked in customer service for more than 6+ years so I do know how poorly some customers can treat you, but it's not an excuse for how poor this costumer service climate was.Sarah H.

Honestly, everything was great for the most part, but I did pay for items I did not receive. I bought a pack of mats and a dolly and never received them, and the self pick-up feature was broken at the time of arrival so the staff overwhelmed so I didn't want to make a fuss. The uhaul office in New Orleans was awful. They were unresponsive to my calls and delivered the containers 4 hours late. I hired movers through uhaul, paid them and had to let them leave because the pods weren't there. So I had to scramble and find other movers and then pay them. Everyone there was very nice and helpful, even when the lines were HUGE. they counseled people to try the app so they wouldn't have to wait in line, and checked every 5 minutes or so if new people got in line. the counter reps were very helpful and very efficient. they seemed to have a good rapport with the individuals in the yard who managed the actual vehicle movement.Leslie N.

I had an awful experience. The tire on my trailer blew out in the middle of my trip. I had to get it towed to the nearest Uhaul location in La Porte, IN. It took over 3 hours to get me off the highway after using roadside assistance. When I got the Uhaul location the shop owner was highly inconvenienced by my trouble and I had to unload my trailer and reload another one by myself in 90 degree heat. I think it's fair for me to get a refund for my rental or a discount. I arrived 6 hours later than expected and there were movers scheduled for my destination.Craig F.

I had requested my preferred pick-up to be at: U-Haul Moving & Storage of Buffalo Grove, 200 Industrial Dr, Lincolnshire, IL. I understand that the preferred may not be the actual pick-up location. However, I think how the B.G. dealer treats their customers should be noted. Especially since it has happened to me more than once. When I went in to change the date, the person was not friendly, not helpful and rude. Unlike the N. Kedzie location or the dealer in Libertyville on Park St. These other two has very good customer relations and I would recommend to a friend but NOT the B.G. dealer.Luigi F.

I booked online for the correct trip, was quoted a rate, when I got there to pick it up it was double to cost it was originally quoted. I asked why and she said because there was a different rate. I didnt realize about the disarming the unit at first so that was confusing but overall I have had three different storage units in three different companies and this was absolutely the most secure for my garbage lol. The staff was amazing they are very fun and make great jokes. That hill at the front is a bit treacherous but i made it up fine with out any damage to my garbage. I had a reservation prior to standing in the line to sign my contract. After waiting in line for 45 minutes I get politely told there are no more storage units at the facility... Even though I had a reservation. I then get a phone number of the manager to call so I utilize it and he starts texting me. He gives me a unit and which is smaller than what I reserved and when I get to the unit with the movers I'm paying BY THE HOUR...There is a pipe in the middle of it. Everything was pretty great. Well lit and clean storage facility. My only complaints/frustrations are: 1) requiring a round lock on the unit that is 3x the amount of a regular lock. Very annoying. 2) Hard to get ahold of someone via phone. They pick up and answer "please hold" without even asking who it is or the reason for the call. The staff at this location has been over the top accommodating and helpful. The GM Charles understands how to provide high level customer service in a time where it is often overlooked. Although the facility was satisfactory-the rates were high. I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the $97 rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was $61 cheaper. The staff at this location we're also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,"I'm just here to do my job. Don't want to know about your day or you.". Don't get me wrong, everyone has a bad day-but I experienced this attitude from more than one person on more than one occasion.Edna L. | Overall Experience

The only problem I has was that I reserved a truck to move 2 weeks ahead of time. And when I got there they had no truck for me. That was the main office who made the big mistake. Thank God that after a while I was still able to move.Maria R. | Overall Experience

The process to rent a unit online was easy, but when it came to moving in, I might as well have been invisible. The cashier barely spoke when I picked up the free lock, and then when I came back to find scissors because they had a plastic lock on the unit, she didn't even acknowledge my presence to see if I needed help. While the staff apologized for their errors, the service experience was poor. I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. My understanding it is strongly enforced by CDPH and BACP and may be something Uhaul upper management will have to review immediately.Miriam L. | First Impressions
The place was surprisingly very clean. I was happy to see there is a rat trap in the unit. I love that the unit is armed when I am not there and is easily disarmed when I arrive.
