The pick up and delivery personnel were very professional and nice.
Our pickup location changed 2x. Drove 30 minutes away to get truck and trailer and it wasn't there. Advice from employee was go call the 1-800 number. I sat in an Uber for over 40 minutes on hold. Miraculously they located both items at the Kedzie location which was the original pick-up location, which was 3 miles from my house. Took a total of 3 hours to get around Chicago to get the vehicles while paying Uber. We used Uhaul 6 times over the past year and this scenario happed twice. The Kedzie location is, by-far, the best I've have been to in Chicago.
First I could not find the truck and the service person that was supposed to help me had the face mask down coming close to see my phone. He got upset when I asked him to please wear his mask. After trying Tobey kid the truck for 15min I finally got one where the Air pressure on the right front tire was low. Returning the truck at 6:40pm I was lot able to finish return on app due to error message that return mileage is lower than pickup mileage and turned out to be an issue with the record on the app but worst thing was that I waited in the lobby for help and ringing the bell for 20minutes and when finally someone showed up at 7pm which was closing time apparently the first thing that the guy said to me was „Dude what do you want we‘re closing“. The worst experience and it is unacceptable.
When I first visited, there was a single person working the front counter and only 2 other customers inside to be assisted. There were at least 3-4 people just standing outside seemingly not doing anything. Most of the vans needed to be shoveled out of the snow and instead of being proactive, they were waiting until vans were needed to shovel them out. We ended up waiting ~20 minutes after paying for my reservation (on top of waiting ~15 minutes to pay) for a van because the guys outside didn't want to shovel them out and finally did. Later when we returned to empty a U-Box, there was a Uhaul truck blocking the lane (someone was accessing the storage area). I called the front to ask them to check it out as there was also a mini van blocking the way. An employee came around and stood watching as the customer with the Uhaul truck tried moving but couldn't because of snow. This went on for easily 5 minutes before the employee said “well this is my van so I guess I'll just move it†instead of moving it right away. I decided to return my vehicle after hours and struggled to figure out the process. The Uhaul app would not locate my account, the website said I didn't have an active reservation, and I finally had to use the reservation # to access the online portal. Not the location's fault but a note about Uhaul in general. Rating as average because I understand service issues happen given COVID and the weather, so I am being lenient.
The vehicle was returned with 3864 miles on it, but my contract I received via email stated that there were 3867. I also was charged the wrong amount and/or told something wrong by an employee. I dropped off my keys and ask the gentleman if there was anything I should do online to return the vehicle. He said no. I think I was charged for this. My quoted charge at checkout was $82, and in the end I was charged $112. Hoping these issues can get resolved.
This location is my go to spot when I need to rent a truck. Friendly, helpful staff.

Very helpful and unusually responsive team at Avondale Chicago location. Unlike many locations, you can get through to them on the phone most of the time during regular business hours.
Product is always in stock and the General Manager has great customer service

Review for management; staff was helpful.
Vehicle driver door damaged and was at times difficult to open. The pics of the vehicle show a perfect one. This one had dents and broken bumper and so on. Felt sneaky. Nobody asked me to walk through and check the vehicle but I did. Got it with less than a quarter tank full. Dropped it off and after waiting 15-20 min for someone to come check me out, I was told the amt I would be billed which was fine. Then some lady calls me days later asking when I would be returning the vehicle which I returned the same day as planned. She was like oh what really weird and then talks about money I owe which the guy at checkout said I would be billed w the card on file. It's all good I suppose but wanted to share for training purposes. Clearly areas for improvement.

Went online to book our rental. Filled in all requested information, including anticipated mileage. Our online reservation quoted us at just over $40 for the rental of a van for a couple hours. When we arrived within a half hour to pick up our rental, our reservation was suddenly over $100. When I asked the girl behind the counter why such a difference, she said because online doesn't calculate tax. When I asked again, because tax couldn't possibly cost that much, she just shrugged and said I don't know, this is the price now. We needed to rent the Uhaul because we had been in a rollover accident the previous day while hauling items. Our truck was not driveable, and we needed to retrieve our items immediately, so we didn't have much of a choice, especially being Dec. 23rd. When we returned the van, we waited for several minutes and no one came outside, so we went inside. There were several employees standing around, and had very clearly just smoked pot. No wonder no one cared to help us both when we picked it up or dropping it off. I will never use this location again.
Gage fuel more accurately because I felt they lessened the amount of gas left over to charge me more!
Over all the service ita always great thats why i always comeback to rhis location. Just one little concern i was told that i have a gas credit which I have not received yet its been 5 days since i rent the truck any info will be appreciated
The people were fast and efficient but the equipment was not well cared for. Also did not understand why the indoor customer service needed a copy of my drivers license and she took the picture with her cell phone front and back. She said it was uhaul policy but i have rented many uhauls and this is the first time a copy of my drivers license was taken. If I have identity theft I will know where to start.
They mixed up my reservation someone changed my drop off location ??? Now i am charged an extra day fee because of mix up ! Trying to correct the mistake.. I rather use a moving service.. too many questions and customer service calls .. just not convenient and time consuming..
Although the facility was satisfactory-the rates were high. I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the $97 rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was $61 cheaper. The staff at this location we’re also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,”I’m just here to do my job. Don’t want to know about your day or you.”. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has a bad day-but I experienced this attitude from more than one person on more than one occasion.
I pulled into the "equipment delivery" area and no one came for ~5 minutes. I was just about to walk around to the front of the store to get someone when an attendant finally came. As they opened the door, no joke, a rat ran out of the building! The attendant then told me, "our system is down so I can't check you in or give you a receipt. You'll get one emailed to you tomorrow." I was uneasy leaving it there so I took a picture of the trailer as proof. Then, as I was driving away, another rat ran across their driveway! The next day I got a phone call from U-Haul with instructions on where to return my trailer and I had to tell them that I already had returned it! I just got my receipt emailed today...2 days later. The whole process was frustrating - you lost my reservations, you didn't have my equipment, you couldn't check me in, there were rats, people were unwilling to help. Truly awful customer service.
Be transparent about the price of the rental, it's absurd to charge $90 when the entire time I thought I was going to pay 19.95. Like come on... probably never going to use U-Haul ever again.

Pick up was very easy , the person who processed and completed my paperwork and gave me the keys was very pleasant and courteous . The vehicle was spotless . Couldn't do any better , really. Thank you.
Service was great. Needed a last minute car hauler trailer. It was in stock late on a Sunday afternoon. I was in and out and back on the road in probably less then 20 minutes. I have used this location several times and so far all have been very positive! My hats off to you guys. Keep up the good work!!
The only problem I has was that I reserved a truck to move 2 weeks ahead of time. And when I got there they had no truck for me. That was the main office who made the big mistake. Thank God that after a while I was still able to move.
Truck was extremely dirty---looks like someone threw up or spilled soup into the cup holder. We didn't notice it since it was dark when we got the truck. We cleaned it up later to avoid a clean up fee.

We used Moving Help to deliver the box and pick it up and the group we used was EXCELLENT. Can't say enough about how good they were. I can't remember the name of the company.
I scheduled to pick up my vehicle at 6:30 am via the mobile pickup, but when I arrived at the location and logged onto the app it told me I had to wait until the store opened at 7 am to pick up the vehicle. I was not notified of these changes until I was at the location. This delay caused a chain reaction in our carefully scheduled plan.

This location was great, u-haul asking me to use a pickup location that was farther away than my drop-off location for a one-way trip was not ok.
Not changing the original scheduled truck and rate and availability of my equipment I pre ordered days in advance but I call me less then 24hrs before I have to pick up my equipment. I will never recommend u haul or use u haul ever again. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with in person at the facility and over email 24 hrs before the pickup. Never again.
I was told I would get refunded the miles I did not use which was over 300 miles and I still haven’t received a refund , made a claim got a claim number and no one ever got back to me . I am still waiting for my refund !
The process to rent a unit online was easy, but when it came to moving in, I might as well have been invisible. The cashier barely spoke when I picked up the free lock, and then when I came back to find scissors because they had a plastic lock on the unit, she didn't even acknowledge my presence to see if I needed help. It was clear that they did not care about me or any other customer there.

I felt like everyone was extremely helpful until the last day when I was checking out and caught some attitude from the attendant over the phone. I had talked to her before and she was sweet so must have been a bad day or something...
While the staff apologized for their errors, the service experience was poor. I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. My understanding it is strongly enforced by CDPH and BACP and may be something Uhaul upper management will have to review immediately.
The place was surprisingly very clean. I was happy to see there is a rat trap in the unit. I love that the unit is armed when I am not there and is easily disarmed when I arrive. There were carts to use for free. I had all my stuff moved into a unit within a few trips because of the carts. Overall a very good experience.
My inertaction with the Charles was the best. Charles was helpful, knowledgeable and respectful. He was able to resolve the issue just with one call. He is an asset for your company. Charles good job. Thank you.
Too many nails in lot. I got a flat tire. Every time I go there I pick up nails.
I was disappointed with how the staff is handling covid. There is a sign requiring masks in the storefront but I only saw one employee wearing a mask. Also we had taken the time to pre-register with our drivers license info. But when we came in to pick up keys, the staff was not able to load our reservation (problems with the network, they said) so they had to do it all over again. That's pretty frustrating when you're trying to avoid close contact with people and you've also spent your own time to take pictures of licenses etc.
Vanessa was so incredibly helpful as we moved out of our storage units and into U-Boxes. She was there to provide everything that we needed over a 3-4 hour period. The general manager was also super helpful and patient as we cashed out and clearly communicated the next steps as far as shipping our U-Boxes to our new town.

First time renting a storage facility. Plenty of carts available to assist the moving process. Well lit and wide hallways. Clean. Helpful staff onsite.
Could not have been a better experience. The staff was unfailingly helpful and courteous. It's now my go-to for all things moving and/or storage.
Easy rental experience. Clean facility and well maintained storage units. Units seem very secure.
I was told over the phone several times before the move that my storage unit would be $38 a month after the first free month, then when I arrived to pick up the truck I was told it would be $149. Was completely thrown off and felt like I was lied to. I stored and used you guys in January but don’t think I will again after this.
Truck rental was quick and easy. Although storage space was not the one that was previously ordered, there wasn’ta problem to get the correct one. Staff was courteous and quick in making the change. Thank you once again for the services you provide.

Becky Rodriguez is amazing! Compared to most of the employees customer service and knowledge, she FAR EXCEEDS the interest and ability of UHaul employees. You need to clone, and recognize MS. RODRIGUEZ for her extraordinary customer service.
Vanessa was kind, efficient , friendly and very helpful. The only complaint I have is someone 2 days before misquoted the extension of the truck rental per day price to me. So I made my decision to keep the rental based on that quote. It was more by $10 . Now keeping it for 4 days. Will end up being significantly more. Anyone who works there should be aware of the vehicle rental prices. If not keep them off the phones. Thank yoo
Seriously best move in experience ever! This place is too notch, helpful and friendly staff, easy access. Storage isn’t fun but this group makes it the best it can be.
The people who work at this facility are very good at their jobs from the office staff to the equipment check in. I was very impressed with the quality of service, level of professionalism, efficiency and kindness of each person that I encountered.

I rented a truck and a storage and all was very clean and in good maintenance. Kristian in the front desk was really helpful and friendly.
The team was very friendly and even helped me get a last minute van rental when I knew they were super busy. They saved me a lot of trouble by being able to get everything I needed in one place.

We rented a UBox to have it filled in Florida and sent to Chicago. The whole process was fantastic! I am so impressed by the helpfulness of all the staff and how perfectly this all worked!
Limited customer service personnel to help at check in line. Storage that was provided as a big pole in the middle which limits the already small size
Driver who dropped off my UBox was great. She was very easy to talk to, called 45 minutes ahead of her scheduled arrival time to let me know she was on her way. Very personable and easy to talk to.

There was a delay in getting our unboxes ready to be transported but we had an overall good experience.
When I called in multiple times, the customer service was not the best. They kept trying to get me to pick up my U-Box instead of having it delivered. This was frustrating.
I have spent hours on the phone with customer service, and I have left multiple messages for Charles regarding the horrible service I have received, he hasn't contact me. I will never use Uhaul again.

There were some charges after the fact that I’m not sure why they are there. A $16 and $5 charge, but otherwise my things were stored and received just as I packed them!

Dealing with calling and arranging was chaos. Information was routinely incorrect. Phone waits over half an hour. The right arm doesn’t know what the left is doing. CHAOS !!!!! Poorly organized.

I shouldn’t have to call twice and get rerouted 4x (and transferred while speaking) the day prior to move for Avondale to still not have my boxes ready for my movinghelp.
Many complaints, several which I have already voiced to Constance in Avondale. They were never resolved. Worst customer service I have ever received. Will never use UHaul again and will notify others.
The U box was picked up three days late almost postponing the sale of my home. Was offered a refund on the delivery fee and I never received the refund. Good luck getting the right person on the phone
Was promised to be delivered Saturday, but something came up, promised Sunday, but scheduled Monday. Didn't get the ubox delivered for a few days before pick up, had to make moving within 1 hour work.
Rented Ubox from Pompano Beach, FL, fairly easy, people mostly helpful. Retrieving contents in Tacoma, WA complicated due to miscommunication. Ongoing problems from ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE company-wide!

The U-Box storage location (outside their presumably locked facility) looked very very shady. It is right next to the railway line and looked to be in a insecure environment next to a disused factory

This was the worst experience I've had with Uhaul. They refused to deliver my U-Box on the day I had paid for it to be delivered, and hung up on me every time I called to try to arrange delivery.

I never saw your location. My U-box was supposed to be delivered to 40xx Broadway U-Haul, but it was not. Who is to blame for the screw-up? Was it Broadway, Kedzie, Mgmt for not having space???
the facility was fairly new and nice but the maintenance was bad. we had a lot of mouse droppings in our unit. the bathrooms weren't maintained either.
