I’ve just moved my personal items so I feel in all honest that I can’t rate this storage unit at this time, but I will say that my experience with one of the workers in the Alton area U-Haul storage center was exceptionally pleasant, this young man was a breath of fresh air, I couldn’t have gotten better service from the manager himself, if I had to rate my experience just with him you’d have give stars for sure!SHARMANE H. | First Impressions

Uhaul misrepresents there service by claiming you can rent a truck for $19.95, but once you get it they really rip you off on milage. I drove the truck for 64 miles and the overall cost was over $100.00. I will never use them again and will advise anyone to definitely not use Uhaul, but go to another truck rental service.Jeffrey K.

I would recommend this location, however I was only allowed 111 mi for a 108 mi trip. I was charged $18 for barely going over mileage. I stopped twice to get fuel and this caused me to go over. Was not very happy.Kyle K.

The staff working at this location made our pick up experience extremely painful. One employee at the computer seemed to not know a single thing and kept saying his computer was slow and not working properly, then the other guy told us that he's told the other employee to use the other computer before, at one point the employee at the computer said he didn't want to bother the other employee on a Sunday and we ended up walking out to the lot to find the other employee and told him his coworker was struggling and needed help , this whole process should have been much faster and streamlined and we lost time moving as a result. When we told the employee where we would be dropping off our rental he said anywhere was fine but when we went to our location we picked and proceeded to drop off the rental it showed in the app that we had to drop it off somewhere else resulting in additional chargesDakota G.

This location is always so friendly! I've had a storage unit there for about 2 years i think and they always go above and beyond to help. I used an actual truck on Sunday 7/24/2022 and the 2 men (especially the taller one with long hair) helped me out so much and they were so sweet. I went to the east Alton uhaul because they had the trailer I needed sitting right in front and the employee said they didn't have one in? Went to Alton jay said they had one he called and they told him they didn't either even when the computer said they did. So I rented a smaller one drive back by and it was still there for the entire time I rented a smaller one making more trips.Alec B.

Was very rude when we walked in to get our reservation trailer. Once hooked he then told me I'd need to buy the electrical cord adapter when the last time I rented a trailer from a different uhaul they let me use one and said just leave it hooked to the cord when returned. I had to go buy a adapter plug. I also asked if I could return it to the uhaul that's closer to me and he said â€œabsolutely notâ€ where as a simple â€œactually this is this stores trailer so it would have to be returned hereâ€ would have been better. I had to have the trailer an extra day and they didn't tell me that it would be and extra charge to keep it another day and they told me I couldn't drop it off after hours, which the other location said I could, even with they're adapter still on the trailer. When I went to return the trailer I got yelled at for pulling under the equipment return tent and was told â€œI told you to return it where you got it fromâ€ but it had been two days since I picked it up and had a lot more stuff on my mind than to remember where I got the trailer from what spot. Overall would not recommend the Alton Illinois location to anyone.Brendan M.

Everyone at the facilities are working but same are inept at paying attention and being prepared. They want to I a good job but don't realize you're on a schedule and not wanting to fix mistakes and want service without mistakes! The facility rates above others for a few reasons. 1. They have after 12:00 p.m. weekend hours. 2. The manager at this facility was very helpful, opposed to the person in Haslet, TX, during our roadside assistance need. Joseph actually worked on getting us help. I had to delay my arrival to Alton, IL from TX due to bad tires on your equipment. The first truck's tires went flat luckily before we left the store. This meant getting another one and completing more paperwork - delay #1. Then about 1:50 hours outside of Alton, a tire on the auto transport lost treads. The repairman said the tires were too old. This produced a two hour wait on the side of the road. And, yet I was not offered any type of compensation for these avoidable incidents. Beside the possibility of a dangerous accident, I had to pay more to the movers due to extra time, missed my appointment with the realtor and had to find a place to stay.Jessica J. | First Impressions

We registered for the unit online and we were given our unit number and code. We were a little confused when we arrived and could not get in. The office was open and we got set up with the help of the clerk, but the process was not clear in the info we were given online. The staff was absolutely amazing! We needed to rent storage and trucks. They were so helpful when things didn't go like they should with the truck return and super supportive when our 1st movers into the storage were a disaster. Every step of the way was great. I would definitely recommend this location. Amber was friendly, informative and always willing to go the extra for us. I think the other guy (tall, thin and fun) was awesome! We got lost finding our new storage unit that didn't have numbers on it yet and he come over and walked us to it. The on-line process was recommended and was convenient. Problem is when I arrived on the move-in day, I requested my "free" month of storage as promised earlier in person (gave me a paper coupon) and again the on-line process said I qualified for a free month rent. I was told that since I did everything online, I did not qualify for the free month rental. I asked why that was and was told "I don't know why corporate won't let us do that". I went home and called U-Haul customer service. The representative applied the free month rent to my account and said the local business manager would call me. I haven't received a call as yet. The place is very clean and the people seem nice, just has been a pain having to spend a half hour on the phone to get something resolved that shouldn't have had to be done.Brad L. | Online Move In
