Luckily there was a cleaner nearby and on requesting he removed the garbage. Really dissatisfied and disappointed. But i needed the truck urgently so used it. Next time will check other options. After reading lots of mixed reviews about UHaul, was pleasantly surprised by this location. Clean and well stocked with moving supplies and the furniture pads we'd ordered. No lineup when we got there, friendly staff and our truck was ready and in good + clean condition. Go into your rental expecting you may not get to pickup at the location you reserved at and knowing they will call the day before to confirm location and time -- We had 'reserved' for a pickup in Toronto so a little frustrating to have to pickup in Ajax but was able to ask for a discount and extra kilometers to compensate.Gregory R.

These may sound a little obvious to a lot of people, but I'm a single woman who was moving alone - so maybe being a bit clearer on gas refill info would have been appreciated, I was advised to use unleaded fuel - so (again this might be dumb) but I thought this was a special type of fuel and went to 2 gas stations, late in the evening, where there were no attendants (due to COVID) and couldn't find unleaded fuel (which I now know is just normal gas). I had to travel a way to find a gas station with personnel to confirm that it was not a special type of gas. Additionally, giving an estimate of what it takes to fill the tank of a truck would be beneficial to someone with no truck experience. I put 70$ worth of gas in, which filled the tank to a significantly greater level than that which I received it in. Ball park would be great! Overall, though - really streamlined excellent service, There was one employee at the Ajax location who was extremely helpful and very polite and should be commended for his service. I'm not sure what his name is, but he was working in the store on Friday the 27th in the afternoon (not the guy with glasses).LISAJ H.

Box containers were not suitable for our needs and was told at the time of placing order there would be no cancellation fee and not told there would be a large fee to have boxes returned (the very next day)! I rented 12 storage boxes. The experience at the location when picking up was less than satisfactory - bordering on rude - with staff referring to me - standing right in front of them - as if I was not there at all. Website claims that the boxes are washed and sanitized after each use. Bold faced lie as some of the boxes were full of dirt, hair and debris. I was on the phone for 20 minutes with someone who assured me they'd let the location know and would make adjustments to the invoice once I returned them. I returned them today and the woman who assisted me told me there were no notes on the file. I chose to leave versus waste any more time with U-Haul.Kathryn A.

I'm really upset! We rented a 26 ft truck. Got a call and they cancelled it and booked us a 20 ft. When we go to pick up they over booked AGAIN! We ended up getting a 15 foot one. The staff and management was great. However it should be noted that the booking process is frustrating. I had reserved a 5x5x7 unit which was $99 a month and met my needs. Someone from uhaul (can't recall the name) called to confirm that I still needed the unit, I confirmed I did and was told a unit would be available. When I arrived on Saturday oct 31 for my check in I was told the unit I had reserved was not available and I'd have to take a larger more expensive unit. This is a bit of a bait and switch from a customer stand point. Again, no fault of the staff, but this should be something that's ironed out from a customer experience standpoint on the website to allow for only what's available to be booked or reserved. Unfortunately, U-Haul the corporation f****d me by reducing the truck size I reserved and changing my pick up and drop off location. I was happy that U-Haul Ajax were there to help our move go according to schedule even if it meant an extra trip. They were also kind to allow me to bring the truck a couple of hours past my return time. They also thoroughly cleaned the truck by wiping it down and making sure it was spotless. My only complaint was that a previous renter smoked in it and it smelled as such. I hope that person was given a non-smoking surcharge. I will never book with U-Haul the company again, but would definitely recommend this location to anyone.JEAN PAUL H.

Staff are not very friendly or helpful . The manager is very rude and makes no accommodations of any sort. They do not have prorated rates and if u need to move out early this is very inconvenient. I reserved a unit in early September for the end of September. When my reservation date was nearing I needed to complete my rental contract and wanted to do that online. One of the reasons why I selected U-Haul was because they said that you could complete the rental of the unit online, which was important to me as I was out of the country and could not do it in person. I tried completing it via the website on my desktop, on my mobile, I downloaded the app, I checked every page, clicked on every link. I could not find where I could complete my rental. I wrote several emails to the customer service, who were not helpful. One sent me a link to an internal, employee page on uhaul.net when I asked for instructions on completing the rental online. Eventually when I got a hold of someone on the phone at the storage unit facility (the first time I got transferred to the generic 1-800 number, and that person couldn't help me) they told me that the unit I had reserved was not available and that was probably why I could not complete my rental online. I then had to take a larger unit than I needed and pay more money than I budgeted because by that time I had no choice. So what is the point of reserving a unit if it does not mean the unit is actually RESERVED? I would rather pay a downpayment to hold a unit in advance than to be told on the day I am ready for it that it's not available. What is the point of a reservation?? And on top of that, no indication whatsoever on my reservation that the unit was not available, so that I could at least look somewhere else or at another location if possible.
