Box containers were not suitable for our needs and was told at the time of placing order there would be no cancellation fee and not told there would be a large fee to have boxes returned (the very next day)! I feel mislead and even on the phone when waiting for customer service your ads keep saying "no cancellation fees". Also the fee I was charged to return the boxes was totally unreasonable!! Will NOT recommend U Haul.

I moved out of my house and had to put all of my personal belongings in this unit. I was extremely nervous as these were items that meant everything to me, but the unit was very secure and safe. I rented 12 storage boxes. The experience at the location when picking up was less than satisfactory - bordering on rude - with staff referring to me - standing right in front of them - as if I was not there at all. Website claims that the boxes are washed and sanitized after each use. Bold faced lie as some of the boxes were full of dirt, hair and debris. I was on the phone for 20 minutes with someone who assured me they'd let the location know and would make adjustments to the invoice once I returned them. I returned them today and the woman who assisted me told me there were no notes on the file. I chose to leave versus waste any more time with U-Haul.

the trailer had not been cleaned and there was hazardous material left on the floor and wall which we didnt see when we picked up the trailer and loaded it in the dark, we only found out when unloading and it had damaged our upholstered furniture. the uhaul rep appologized and suggested a claim which we will do and let you know how it went imp

The dimensions of the vehicles on the website do not match the equipment that is rented. This should be updated to truly reflect what they are. My rental did not go smoothly because of the misinformation. The correct information would likely have made me go in a different direction and now I will likely make other choices in the future.

I'm really upset! We rented a 26 ft truck. Got a call and they cancelled it and booked us a 20 ft. When we go to pick up they over booked AGAIN! We ended up getting a 15 foot one. We had to make several trips to get it all done and we don't live close to the old address. I ended up paying a lot on km. I should of gotten it free!

The staff and management was great. However it should be noted that the booking process is frustrating. I had reserved a 5x5x7 unit which was $99 a month and met my needs. Someone from uhaul (can’t recall the name) called to confirm that I still needed the unit, I confirmed I did and was told a unit would be available. When I arrived on Saturday oct 31 for my check in I was told the unit I had reserved was not available and I’d have to take a larger more expensive unit. This is a bit of a bait and switch from a customer stand point. Again, no fault of the staff, but this should be something that’s ironed out from a customer experience standpoint on the website to allow for only what’s available to be booked or reserved. I’d rather get the value for what I’m paying for rather than be told I have to take a more expensive unit or find another location all together.

Lack of staff, had to wait a long time to get the equipment. No proper signage for key drop-off upon return. My credit card was used for $1,000 unauthorised transactions on your website. Credit card details are not safe at this location.

Unfortunately, U-Haul the corporation f****d me by reducing the truck size I reserved and changing my pick up and drop off location. I was happy that U-Haul Ajax were there to help our move go according to schedule even if it meant an extra trip. They were also kind to allow me to bring the truck a couple of hours past my return time. They also thoroughly cleaned the truck by wiping it down and making sure it was spotless. My only complaint was that a previous renter smoked in it and it smelled as such. I hope that person was given a non-smoking surcharge. I will never book with U-Haul the company again, but would definitely recommend this location to anyone.

1. Check in was a little difficult as I booked online, but my husband picked up the trailer - so the link was sent to me, instead of him being able to do it in person - that was frustrating. 2. The utility trailer was full of dirt and debris - so we had to sweep it out before we could use it. Otherwise, convenient and affordable service.

I drove the truck 21 miles, and it took over $15 to fill the tank back up. Either your truck was getting just over 1 mile per litre, or it wasn't fully filled, which I think is the obvious answer. If you're not going to check the tank, don't expect it to be filled up upon return, as apparently it doesn't need to be.

Both staff we dealt with gave us excellent customer service. Both my wife and I were unable to scan/open information with our phones and the assistant promptly used her own phone to help us. We then received additional help with the hook up as there were light issues. Definitely would recommend and use again

In general it would help if a rental option for more than 24 hours was available. Because, things may not go as smooth as planned and if one anticipates such uncertainty, it would give a peace of mind to rent for longer period meanwhile avoid affecting subsequent families that are booked. Otherwise, it is a well organized amazing service.

I woke up today on my Birthday to a call from the Ajax location saying that “your truck you rented is not on our property, where is the truck” I rented this truck from Ajax living in Oshawa. I know I dropped the truck off and now their calling me waking me up saying the truck is not there. So I got up and drove straight to the Ajax uhaul on station. When I got there I drove to where I parked the truck and found THE TRUCK. So I went inside and now I'm obviously extremely pissed off. All the girls working just said “oh I thought she checked, oh no I thought she checked” and so on... so NO WORKER ACTUALLY WENT OUTSIDE TO CHECK IF THE TRUCK WAS PHYSICALLY ON THE PROPERTY BEFORE CALLING AND TELLING ME THE TRUCK WAS MISSING FROM THE PROPERTY? Not only were these girls EXTREMELY rude and were giving me the run around full of extreme attitude and rudeness. No one once apologized for THEIR mistake. Instead I was treated extremely horribly and was woken up extremely scared thinking the worst. I then went to grab something from the truck which was left by mistake and another female worker just hops in and closes up the door.. like excuse me you guys clearly didn't see the truck ALL morning when you were supposed to be doing your JOB CHECKING BEFORE MAKING THOSE PHONE CALLS And she jumps into the truck wearing absolutely no mask touching everything as she sees me and I'm telling her I'm just looking for something I left yesterday. When she could have just given me a minute or two to look around seeing as I got there first and told her what I was doing. These girls working this morning were extremely rude and did not do their job. Then once I leave the premises about 2 minutes later I get a text msg from Uhual staying that my reservation for tomorrow is now cancelled!! So the girls in Uhual not only didn't do their job this morning but they went out of their way to cancel my reservation I had for the next day ! Not to mention the day before I rented a truck and confirmed my booking for Saturday and everything was good to go. So WHY these girls went out of their way to make notes and change my reservation when THEY WERE AT FAULT AND HAD NO RIGHT TO DO SO IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING So now I am absolutely stranded for a truck for something these girls were wrong for in the first place..

Please fire EVERY single employee behind the desk at your Ajax location... replace them with selfserve kiosk. Everyone from Kim down has a nasty unapologetic superiority issue. Not only was I treated horrible, I witness them treat others terribly. I saw them almost bring a grown man to tears because he was late to pick up his truck.. he pleaded he came from Toronto.." the uhaul CSR said "nothing i can do because u are late we close in 5 minutes" one of worst experience of my life..I tried to renew a storage unit but my experience over the month was so bad..i took my business elsewhere and paid more money .

It was almost impossible to locate the after hours key drop! The pic on the mobile checkout did not match the actual location. There is no visible way finding signage to locate the drop slot, when it is dark in that location- it took me 20 mins to find it.

When returning my trailer, there was a U-Haul van parked in the green tent return area with no room to drive around. After waiting a few minutes, I had move and park between the in and out driveways, unload my toddler and disconnect trailer on the slope to park in the spot 90 degrees from vehicle. I set trailer tongue on the stand and as I started walking towards the store front with my toddler, that is when a representative approached. A bit inconvenient, but since I am capable, was not a big issue. Just had to keep my toddler clear of moving trailer and possible traffic. I will return again.

Service was excellent You had cargo vans to rent on short notice when no one else did. The cargo van i rented was probably the nicest van I've ever rented. it only had 484 kilometers on it and was spotless. Also fully loaded, which is very unusual for a rental.

other than having to wait 3/4 of an hour for a truck in the morning I was satisfied with using Uhaul for my moving need. The personnel was friendly and did accommodate my need. The delay was because the truck I was to rent was late in return from day before. They gave me another truck a size down which is the original size I had asked for. So all is well.

This is not the location I reserved my truck for pickup and drop off. I receiced an email rather than phone call while I was in my way to the other location to let me know they didn't have my truck available. It would have been more convenient if the truck from this location had been delivered to the location I had reserved at for me instead of making me go out of my way. I was unable to complete the online after hours check in and spent an hour on hold and with an agent in the parking lot at U-Haul trying to complete the check in. Poor.

The only thing I don't like is the "bait and switch" technique. I had to cancel my first rental from Tiny, ON as they e-mailed a day later and said I had to pick it up in Barrie. I then decided to take the car with the trailer hitch to my home in Ajax and rent at that location a few days later. Rain was forecast so I rented a covered trailer. When I showed up, they said they only had open trailers. When I said I would have to cancel, I suddenly got my open trailer. To me it was obvious they couldn't rent the open trailer for the next day, and was hoping I would just take it so they could rent the covered one to someone else. But once they suddenly found they did have a covered trailer for me, he hook up and check in as was fast and easy

Staff are not very friendly or helpful . The manager is very rude and makes no accommodations of any sort. They do not have prorated rates and if u need to move out early this is very inconvenient. Late charges were also charged to my card because someone forgot to put the card number on file, when I tried discussing this with the managers for months all she did was send me generic emails including the extra charges on the bill. She is very unprofessional and rude. I would never store again at this facility I was there for over a year and have moved my things to a better facility that offers a free truck with move out.

I called one week in advance and advised I need the largest truck which was the 26 feet, even got an email confirmation, only to be told the day before my move that I cannot get what I asked for and reserved. I reserved a unit in early September for the end of September. When my reservation date was nearing I needed to complete my rental contract and wanted to do that online. One of the reasons why I selected U-Haul was because they said that you could complete the rental of the unit online, which was important to me as I was out of the country and could not do it in person. I tried completing it via the website on my desktop, on my mobile, I downloaded the app, I checked every page, clicked on every link. I could not find where I could complete my rental. I wrote several emails to the customer service, who were not helpful. One sent me a link to an internal, employee page on uhaul.net when I asked for instructions on completing the rental online. Eventually when I got a hold of someone on the phone at the storage unit facility (the first time I got transferred to the generic 1-800 number, and that person couldn't help me) they told me that the unit I had reserved was not available and that was probably why I could not complete my rental online. I then had to take a larger unit than I needed and pay more money than I budgeted because by that time I had no choice. So what is the point of reserving a unit if it does not mean the unit is actually RESERVED? I would rather pay a downpayment to hold a unit in advance than to be told on the day I am ready for it that it's not available. What is the point of a reservation?? And on top of that, no indication whatsoever on my reservation that the unit was not available, so that I could at least look somewhere else or at another location if possible. Extremely frustrating service.

Customer service was very good at the location and the vehicle was clean. My concern was the maintenance of the truck; we rented a 26' truck and it was very rough on the road. A part of our move was included approx. 20km of highway driving, in both directions, and the entire front end was shaking and vibrating badly.

We were not told about the free first month for storage. Less than a week after renting the storage unit we were locked out for non payment. After standing in line for 20 minutes we were told the lock would be removed, never received an apology for the inconvenience. We rented a truck the same day and spent more time in line then we did in the truck, while 3 staff members stood outside, leaving no employees inside at the counter.

You should make sure the customer know he or she has to buy your lock when they agrees to use your storage facility. Also train your staff to just say sorry for the misunderstanding and not ramble on and on in a demeaning fashion which just escalates customers frustration.

The staff there are very rude, unfriendly and very unprofessional it was my worst experience I had in all the years my family and friends have utilized uhaul services aand would not use again. the staff harassed us even to the day we were moving out to our home and said nasty things to us about us paying our bill late and even when our bill was paid the harassment continued, very weird behaviours, to the point where we questioned racism.

What was frustrating to me was the fact that I rented a trailer and combined it with the storage yet they never set up a payment plan for the storage. Annoying to say the least.

The Ajax facility is top notch (receiving). Gord MacMillians in Antigonish (originating) was great - his help was very welcome. Phone access via primary number is clumsy however people were nice.
