Horrific experience at the Birmingham Uptown location. My contract states I can access my Ubox containers at any time; when I called, I was told that it would 24-48 hours to bring them out of the warehouse, and that they'd have to talk to the manager. 48 hours later they had brought them out, only to inform me when I called to specifically ask about a trailer, (this after 4 calls with them) that they thought I just wanted to look in them and that they hadn't provided a trailer to go with them. I was then told it would take another day to provide a trailer and that they couldn't process that on the phone. When I asked where on the website I could place that reservation, I was told "uhaul.com", as though I'm an idiot. Throughout this whole process, they repeatedly told me that they couldn't do anything, only the manager oculd, and refused to give me her number or put me in touch with her. Eventually I ended up calling Uhaul's general number in order to get ANYTHING done, and that was a great experience; I was able to palce a trailer reservation on the phone. I've moved multiple times and never experienced such obstructionism, disinterest in doing the basic jobs, and complete lack of politness or communication. Probably the worst customer experience of my life and a battle every step of the way just to be able to pick up my Uboxes with trailers, which is a normal process and should be easy to do. I spent 4.5 hours over the course of 4 days on the phone. Will probably never use Uhaul again as it's not worth the stress and time.Claire H.

Customer service seriously needs to be addressed and become better at this location. I encountered two people that were helpful and that was a manager I don't remember her name but she assisted on an issue of me not having my truck or the vehicle that I was supposed to have which was a van on my first initial trip in using U-Haul which was January 13th. I get there on time I actually ahead of time to find out that they did not notify me that they moved my reservation to another store and the young lady had the audacity to ask me had I got an email and then she makes a phone call and tells the other location that your reservation is here. I asked what do you mean by that and she tells me I have to go to another location to get my van when I made the reservation at her store the day before and was told and under the impression that my vehicle would be at that location with what I a reservation with. They didn't want to help me they told me they had nothing else there for me to get and I asked would I be able to get a bigger size they wanted to charge me the same amount and then the manager came up and she told her that I didn't want to go to the other store and I said no it's because I allotted my mileage and have the cost I said that would take me way out the way they wanted me to go across town to pick up the van that was supposed to be at the location that it was told me to pick it up from the beginning and so the manager told me that I could get the truck for what I would have got in the van so I appreciate that. So I also proceeded to let her know that I had to pick up a bigger truck on the 14th and that I hope that they wouldn't take me through these changes for it because I had also already put a reservation in for it. So when I go to drop off the 15 that they gave me in place of the van I got it there before time at 6:40 the store was not closed one of the workers that came out she was short lady tells not me the driver she said something to the car that was picking me up telling them where I needed to park versus telling me and telling me that I couldn't come in and check the truck in that I would have to do it online when they weren't closed as of yet. She was very rude when I tried to talk to her to a point I had to discontinue conversation with her and talk with someone else about where I needed to put the truck and how to finish my check out because she had told me I couldn't come in and had locked the doors and then I will have to go online and I didn't know exactly how to do that. The other lady told me that I didn't have to that they saw that I came and brought it in on time and all of that stuff and so by the way they were acting or the other lady was acting I didn't feel comfortable so I went ahead and figured out how to check the vehicle in but the vehicle was not only on time ahead of time but it was also clean. So I pick up the 12 the 20 I'm sorry the 20 foot truck on the 14th I had the same manager that assisted me with the mishap on the 13th. So I called back at 6:00 to ask if I could keep the truck because me being handicapped I didn't have a lot of help and it was taking longer with the little help that I had and I lost one of those people because they had to go I called and talked with a gentleman and he told me that I had to bring it back that night as if someone else needed it that morning so I'm telling him that I needed more time he didn't even get you know assist me with at least a few more hours on my on my thing he just said that you have I have someone that picks it up tomorrow and you have to bring it back and he doesn't say that if I don't bring it if I brought it back after 12:00 or after 7:00 that I will have a late penalty he didn't say oh that I will be charged for a whole another day he didn't tell me that. So we pushed through and we got it there a little after 12:00 but I had issues for some reason with the checking in the truck on that online program that you have to check the truck in so by the time it actually finally got the truck checked in it was 12:37 a.m. so with that being said we did not use the truck a whole another day. I didn't realize that it charged me double everything double the past double the appliance dolly double the insurance double the truck and double the mileage no not double the mileage but double everything but the mileage we did not use the truck a whole another day you can see we brought it back at 12:37 before the actual next business day of 7:00 a.m. before that location opened yes we brought it back after 12:00 but we also tried to get extended time and the guy wouldn't even help me the lady told me that she could see the conversation that I called that I tried to get extra time and he wouldn't help me she even said she didn't understand why he didn't assist me in that manner so then she's escalated to I guess they're a general manager because that's the email I got now I was told twice that I would be called when I first had a you know disputed the charge the the extra extra day or the double charges I never got a phone call from anyone and the lady when I called to talk to her yesterday morning she saw that didn't nobody call me back so then she told me someone would ask she told me someone would call me back about the escalated you know as far as me you know wanted to dispute the charges the manager the general manager I think that emailed me did not call me back she just emailed she emailed me when she was supposed to call me back only to you know to tell me that she wouldn't assist or that she couldn't she wouldn't give a refund or take that extra day off it wasn't necessarily a refund I didn't want to refund I just didn't want to be charged two days for two days that I didn't actually use the truck and the supplies. No one did what they were supposed to do in the situation my truck wasn't there the first day I went the second day you know I'm trying to get assistance and help with extra time wouldn't help me with that and all the while I'm doing what I'm supposed to do I've kept your trucks clean I've kept them from harm and brought them back intact. I also had to rent a truck a third day. I went to a different location in centerpoint,Alabama, which was the 15th I get there and I was there picking up a 10-ft truck I get there and I get the truck and I'm examining the truck and I'm having to take pictures through the online check-in I get to the back and there is debris still in the back and in the cab there was food on the floor. Report my findings to the guy inside he changes my truck to a truck that was not clean either just didn't have as much debris in the back of it I had to retake pictures on my own phone then the tire indicator was on saying that it needed air he made me pull the truck to the Bay and I also realized after turning the truck in before Time and clean that he overcharged me for my mileage it was supposed to be $0.79 a mile and he charged me $0.99 a mile. It's wrong and how you're treating your customers I did not use that truck for a whole second day I brought it back before the next business day and before it open the next day for the next person to have on time for their reservation and so therefore I don't feel that it's fair that you still charge me for 2 days when I only used it for one. I would not refer anyone and I pray that I can find someone else to help me in my future endeavors versus coming to U-Haul I am sadly disappointed and I know that not having me as a customer won't break you but I guarantee you I would never use you all again if I can truly help itNicole J.

Complete disconnect between national U Haul and this location. I was twice told I could extend my reservation, upon which I based my moving plans. That was cancelled by the local outfit, which left me in a position where I could not finish my move. I was also bizarrely told I needed to fold the furniture pads after I returned the vehicle. I think everything on the truck needs to be assessed before giving a truck to a customer. Great customer experience from two locations due to truck shortage. But the lift assist on the truck malfunctioned during the packing process & caused an hour delay on moving. Resulting in us cutting the wire on the pulley assist.Bryan R.

I was really disappointed because they did not have the truck for us even though we made the reservation like two weeks in advance. I understand that it was the persons fault for not turning in the truck on time, but we weren't offered any compensation for the inconvenience. The signs to drop off the big moving box trucks is a joke. I believe a larger sign, and arrows on the street would be help full. Also other uhaul moving vechicles commercial trucks can block the entrance while unloading. This location however is great, SO MUCH POTENTAL!!!RICHARD S.

Try to charge you extra for anything. Don't supply things that were ordered. Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. Your employee who helped me with everything went above and beyond. He far exceeded my expectations and is an excellent representative for your company. I needed a ball for the trailer. He knew exactly which one and put it on for me. The trailer was clean. In great shape. He hooked everything up. All I had to do was arrive and back up. He answered every question I had. Overall it was just a fantastic experience. I picked it up on Tuesday Oct 26th around 1:20ish. So it was the young black man that worked there. And im not pointing out his color for any other reason than to give you guus a description of the employee so you know who Im talking about. A short black male was very rude and told me "Go get gas again" when the gas needle was even as suggested. I went to get the gas and came back and was treated poorly and the woman with the purple mohawk and bald sides started calling me B***hes and the short male with the hoodie ran behind my car and took pictures of my tag while calling me B***ches, then charged me even more while laughing.. I only came to that location for the sweetest lady, Yolanda, but the other representatives are crooked hustlers and they have my home info and my tag number. I do not feel safe with that out there. This location was fine, but your location at 8610 1st Ave N is a different story. I called your Customer Reservation line on Thursday, Oct. 28th to reserve a 10ft truck for Friday, Oct. 29th. I got the confirmation text and everything. I get to the location on Friday and no truck. I call and the employee tells me that the truck was picked up this morning and he doesn't know when it will be back. No offer to assist me or connect me with someone to resolve this issue. I was informed that making multiple reservations for 1 truck is a common practice which I would hate to believe. I can only speak for myself but if I call and schedule a truck for a certain time with UHaul and provide my banking information to hold that truck, when I get to the location where the reservations where made, I expect to have NO issues with getting the truck. Did I get a truck? Yes. It was a 15ft truck which was much larger than what I needed which took more money to fill up before I returned, I had issues loading the truck because I had to park it further away so instead of me being able to do this job by myself, I had to find help which cost me even more money. I know even though I took my time to provide feedback to hopefully help the next customer's experience to better than mine, no one probably cares because this was my experience but if this survey used for its intent, please address the staff at the 8610 location on how to provide proper customer service.UNTARIUS K.

Had bugs all in it, wasn't swept out. Didn't even include the dolly that we paid for and acted funny when asked for it. Didn't even want to rent it out to me, said they didn't have one. Booked it and went back in and got it. Overall bad place to do business with. Storage unit and even worse. Filled with ants with no food in unit. Scheduled (weeks in advance) to pick up at Vestavia, 35216 location. Arrived Vestavia location on scheduled pick up day. Told to go to above referenced U-Haul location. Negative, I said....agreed to pickup & drop trailer at this (Vestavia) location. Suggested they look at reservation. Manager told me it's been changed. OH, OK... when were you gonna tell me? Received vacant, blank stare from manager.... She say..."She don't be knowing, they sent you a txt". No... "they" did not call, send txt or email. I'm here to pick up a car hauler, look at your lot...I see (7) seven car haulers. Manager say..."they be reserved". Yes I responded, I reserved one weeks ago at this location. Another vacant, blank stare ...she wrote the address and handed it to a very unhappy customer. Arrived at 28th St. shop and found another group of poorly trained & unprofessional employees w/blank stares. Unhappy Customer in front of me was having a loud shouting match with employee. Personal insults going both ways. Gentleman behind me was there for same reason as I. Seems he reserved at one location, only to be sent to another without notice.. another unhappy customer. The drop off wasn't much better.....but I tired of writing. Your employees do not care about your customers, at all. START BY HIRING MANAGERS WHO GIVE A DAMN.RICHARD C.
I was charged an extra drop off day incorrectly. I discussed with the pickup location that I needed the trailer for THREE DAYS and wanted to pay in advance. I was told that is possible, given a paper with 10/02/21 for my drop off date and charged $200 roughly. Then when I drop off, on the date I was instructed to, I get charged for another day. Y'all can scam people all you like, but we can fire back to. I will never use your services again and will tell everyone who will listen that you are a dirty business. Don't respond to me. There was 2 employees working who both greeted us and a young man, Kendall, who helped us immediately because another location gave the truck I reserved to another customer, and I had movers waiting.
