Complete disconnect between national U Haul and this location. I was twice told I could extend my reservation, upon which I based my moving plans. That was cancelled by the local outfit, which left me in a position where I could not finish my move. I was also bizarrely told I needed to fold the furniture pads after I returned the vehicle. Honestly, I will never use U Haul again based on this experience, and I will tell my friends to avoid the company.

I think everything on the truck needs to be assessed before giving a truck to a customer. Great customer experience from two locations due to truck shortage. But the lift assist on the truck malfunctioned during the packing process & caused an hour delay on moving. Resulting in us cutting the wire on the pulley assist.

I was really disappointed because they did not have the truck for us even though we made the reservation like two weeks in advance. I understand that it was the persons fault for not turning in the truck on time, but we weren't offered any compensation for the inconvenience. We had to get a truck the next day because of the situation. The truck was fine and the people were very nice at the desk but it messed up our moving plans unfortunately.

The check in process didn't work. I called the customer service number and waited 20 minutes in hold before giving up. I called again today because I'm anxious to know the check in was ok but ran out of time after being on hold over 10 minutes again. Everything else was good.

The signs to drop off the big moving box trucks is a joke. I believe a larger sign, and arrows on the street would be help full. Also other uhaul moving vechicles commercial trucks can block the entrance while unloading. This location however is great, SO MUCH POTENTAL!!!

Try to charge you extra for anything. Don't supply things that were ordered. Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. This is a game to staff they even laugh at giving people issues as if moving isn't enough already.

Your employee who helped me with everything went above and beyond. He far exceeded my expectations and is an excellent representative for your company. I needed a ball for the trailer. He knew exactly which one and put it on for me. The trailer was clean. In great shape. He hooked everything up. All I had to do was arrive and back up. He answered every question I had. Overall it was just a fantastic experience. I picked it up on Tuesday Oct 26th around 1:20ish. So it was the young black man that worked there. And im not pointing out his color for any other reason than to give you guus a description of the employee so you know who Im talking about. In a day and time where customer service is severely lacking at most places, you guys really surprised me in such a great way. Great job Uhaul. Great job Uhaul employee.

A short black male was very rude and told me "Go get gas again" when the gas needle was even as suggested. I went to get the gas and came back and was treated poorly and the woman with the purple mohawk and bald sides started calling me B***hes and the short male with the hoodie ran behind my car and took pictures of my tag while calling me B***ches, then charged me even more while laughing.. I only came to that location for the sweetest lady, Yolanda, but the other representatives are crooked hustlers and they have my home info and my tag number. I do not feel safe with that out there. The police was called and they went to tell the guy to delete the photo of my tag and to stop the unprofessionalism.(

This location was fine, but your location at 8610 1st Ave N is a different story. I called your Customer Reservation line on Thursday, Oct. 28th to reserve a 10ft truck for Friday, Oct. 29th. I got the confirmation text and everything. I get to the location on Friday and no truck. I call and the employee tells me that the truck was picked up this morning and he doesn't know when it will be back. No offer to assist me or connect me with someone to resolve this issue. I was informed that making multiple reservations for 1 truck is a common practice which I would hate to believe. I can only speak for myself but if I call and schedule a truck for a certain time with UHaul and provide my banking information to hold that truck, when I get to the location where the reservations where made, I expect to have NO issues with getting the truck. Did I get a truck? Yes. It was a 15ft truck which was much larger than what I needed which took more money to fill up before I returned, I had issues loading the truck because I had to park it further away so instead of me being able to do this job by myself, I had to find help which cost me even more money. I know even though I took my time to provide feedback to hopefully help the next customer's experience to better than mine, no one probably cares because this was my experience but if this survey used for its intent, please address the staff at the 8610 location on how to provide proper customer service.

Had bugs all in it, wasn't swept out. Didn't even include the dolly that we paid for and acted funny when asked for it. Didn't even want to rent it out to me, said they didn't have one. Booked it and went back in and got it. Overall bad place to do business with. Storage unit and even worse. Filled with ants with no food in unit. Will say your payment isn't due when it is and then charge you a late fee and will lock you out in a heartbeat.

I was assigned wrong storage unit, found out when I went to move my things in. The Customer Service Representative got confused on my order which took excessive time that I didn't have. Also it was complications with my payment when I already paid online; I had to go through the payment process all over again.

The mirror on the truck was completely broken and made it very dangerous when I was driving on the highway. It was taped in place but kept shifting around at every bump. I also tried to use the app to check-in and it kept freezing and making me start over.

Scheduled (weeks in advance) to pick up at Vestavia, 35216 location. Arrived Vestavia location on scheduled pick up day. Told to go to above referenced U-Haul location. Negative, I said....agreed to pickup & drop trailer at this (Vestavia) location. Suggested they look at reservation. Manager told me it's been changed. OH, OK... when were you gonna tell me? Received vacant, blank stare from manager.... She say..."She don't be knowing, they sent you a txt". No... "they" did not call, send txt or email. I'm here to pick up a car hauler, look at your lot...I see (7) seven car haulers. Manager say..."they be reserved". Yes I responded, I reserved one weeks ago at this location. Another vacant, blank stare ...she wrote the address and handed it to a very unhappy customer. Arrived at 28th St. shop and found another group of poorly trained & unprofessional employees w/blank stares. Unhappy Customer in front of me was having a loud shouting match with employee. Personal insults going both ways. Gentleman behind me was there for same reason as I. Seems he reserved at one location, only to be sent to another without notice.. another unhappy customer. The drop off wasn't much better.....but I tired of writing. Your employees do not care about your customers, at all. START BY HIRING MANAGERS WHO GIVE A DAMN.

I was charged an extra drop off day incorrectly. I discussed with the pickup location that I needed the trailer for THREE DAYS and wanted to pay in advance. I was told that is possible, given a paper with 10/02/21 for my drop off date and charged $200 roughly. Then when I drop off, on the date I was instructed to, I get charged for another day. Y'all can scam people all you like, but we can fire back to. I will never use your services again and will tell everyone who will listen that you are a dirty business. Don't respond to me. My mind has been made up by the “customer service” I have received after the fact

There was 2 employees working who both greeted us and a young man, Kendall, who helped us immediately because another location gave the truck I reserved to another customer, and I had movers waiting. He not only expedited the process but explained in detail about insurance coverage and equipment use. Job well done Kendall. I didn't spend money or time needlessly.

The online pickup was awful. The codes had characters that were not on the keyboard. If the u haul staff had not helped with pick up I'd still be trying to get the truck. Staff very helpful.

I went to 4 U-Haul stores on 10/02/2021 to try and rent a truck, but they were all sold out. This store and your employees were the only U-Haul location that assisted me with getting a reservation for today, 10/03/2021. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. I plan to tell anyone that needs to rent a U-Haul to come to this location. Thank you so much!

The mover in Birmingham I originally signed up with was horrible. Also, please tell us we need a lock at that beginning. That was an issue. Also did not understand about the payment code for the movers. That was confusing. The movers in Denver were excellent though.

Never would I recommend this place. We have never been treated so rudely as we were by the manager. We drove a truck to this location with a reservation to pick up another. After arriving we were told that we had no truck, but we'd have to go 21 miles away to another town. I tried to explain that we had things on the truck that had to be transferred to the new truck. She didn't care, she wanted our truck. I offered to rent what ever they had, and there were 15 to 20 trucks on their lot. She didn't care, but screamed I need your truck. At that point I walked outside and called U-Haul and they easily extended my reservation. When I explained that to her she started screaming again and continued to scream, telling my wife and myself to get out of her store. She threatened to call the police and continued to scream in a loud angry voice. We're 73 year old professionals who have both managed and supervised 100s during our careers. After leaving the store, I looked at reviews and it seems 1 ratings are common with this location. To add more insult we got a message that our new truck was in a town over 40 miles away. At that point I called Penske and got a reservation. We were meet there by a very professional team and we were happy to return the uhaul. This will probably be the last time I'll ever rent a U-Haul truck, and I'd certainly never recommend this location. During her tirade when I told her traffic had extended my reservation she said I'll have them fired tomorrow. I actually called the person back and she laughed. If this is their customer service I'd suggest some training sessions.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this location. Complete lack of professionalism. My rental was due back at 5. It's going to be returned on time when I pay for the full 24 hour use. I elected 24 hours intentionally. I'm on my way and in traffic and I am getting phone calls asking if I'm on my way because the next person is there. That is not my problem to be burdened with if the next person is there early. Instead I am bothered with phone calls while in traffic. Nothing is that important that they couldn't give me until the time it was due back. Then I get there, and I'm doing the mobile drop off process. The employee is yelling at me across the parking lot that I can't park my rental in an empty parking spot. There's like 10 empty spots. They want it up at the canopy. That is not my job nor my problem. My role was to fulfill the needs at the mobile drop off and put my keys where they belong, Not do someone else's job for them. I will be calling the corporate tomorrow.

The employees here can be really rude, and not very helpful. Everything is on their time which can be very slow so don't be in a hurry. I dreaded coming here and having to deal with the employees. I will definitely be avoiding this location in the future.

I asked to have the rental until Saturday because I wasn't moving in until Friday. The location called me Friday in a very rude manner suggesting that the Uhaul I had was reserved. I explained that I hadn't unloaded yet and couldn't bring it until Saturday, the original date I told the manager during the rental. I woke up Saturday to a $111 charge and when I made it to the location no one could tell my why. Fields was very rude during the return and had a poor attitude. The truck had very little gas and drove roughly. The check engine light was on the entire trip. It was a very unpleasant experience.

We had and continue to have numerous issues on both sides of our experience with this: On the shipping side of things (Pullman, WA) they had almost no idea that we were even picking up on the day that we scheduled despite us calling 3 times prior to verify this with the location itself. Because of this we ended up getting our boxes 6 hours after originally planned and were almost unable to fill them in time to ship out. On the receiving side (Birmingham AL) we had a somewhat similar experience except the issues continue to this day. We called the day prior to us coming to pick up the boxes after receiving the message that the boxes had arrived and they told us that everything was good to go for pick up. When we arrived the next day they had no idea that we were even coming and were unable to give us the boxes that day so we had to come back the next day. When we arrived the next day they seemed to be prepared for us and we were able to get the boxes and unload them before returning them to their office (finally one full good day). We thought all was well and good since that day and we could just put this bad experience behind us, but no. The Birmingham office still to this day doesn't think we have returned the boxes to them or even picked them up so they are charging us rent on the boxes that they are "storing". We have tried to contact the office numerous times (10+) and have only once got them to answer (which they immediately just said call back tomorrow and hung up. They didn't answer the next day). We will never be using the Uhaul Ubox service for this again in the future and will recommend similar to our friends and family. I recommend anyone reading this review to also avoid using their Ubox services.

The concept is great and the U-Boxes were sufficient for our needs. U-box was brought to our house for us to pack-up. Was very easy to order online & it was delivered on-time. U-Haul contacted us the day before delivery and on the day of delivery to let us know that they were on the way. Same for picking up our boxes to be stored while we sold house/moved. Not sure what happened for the delivery of our boxes after we moved, but we had an opposite experience for the 2nd delivery. Could not order the re-delivery anywhere on the UHaul portal. Had to stay on hold on phone for 30-60 min. each time we called; had to call at least 3 times (to either get the new delivery arranged or to get boxes picked up for the last time). Were told a date that our boxes were arriving by corporate office; never showed. Later told by local office that that day could not have been scheduled because they only delivered Uboxes 2 days/week only in our city. No calls the day that the boxes finally arrived (about 1 week later than we originally wanted; would've been so much easier on move-in day!). No calls when the boxes were picked up for the last time. Received emails to confirm delivery for boxes as if they were coming in the next 1-2 days, but the email came after the promised date listed & the boxes weren't delivered. It was a confusing mess. We're requested to have the delivery & last month of storage reimbursed to us for all the trouble; we're waiting to hear back, probably at least 1 week.

Trailer wasn't especially clean. I swept it out and blew it out with a leaf blower before loading motorcycle. The left rear turn light/brake light did not function. I noticed this problem soon after I started out on a long trip. I should have checked it myself when I picked the trailer up. Also, the site is a reclaimed industrial location. There are numerous pieces of metal shavings and other items that have a high likelihood of puncturing tires. This only applies to the area covered by gravel. The paved portion should not suffer from this problem.

The unit that you thought I needed was to small and I didn't use it. It's not in use I don't need it thanks, also check on the truck I rented you charged me for gas and I pittgas in it thanks please adjust my bill

First time using any kind of storage facility. They didn't make it easy to understand nor were they helpful in their description of what to do or where to go. We fingered it out eventually and got everything moved in. The carts at the door were convient and it made the storing stuff faster than moving out.

The Staff, particularly Paul Barnett & the manager lady were rude and threatening and not helpful or willing to help. They insisted that they could not and would not help me. After letting them know that I gave them my business by renting storage at this facility and that someone higher up the chain needed to help resolve my problem, they said that the buck stopped with them.
