I accidentally chose the wrong drop off location online and was unable to change it on the website. The woman at the location I stopped at informed me that she could not help me or take the equipment without a substantial penalty fee being assessed. I was then on hold for almost half an hour trying to contact customer service to help me. I never did get through, hung up, and found directions to the location that was apparently chosen for the dropoff. Again, the website was grossly inadequate at helping me to choose or change the drop off location and caused considerable confusion and inconvenience when I went to what I thought was the correct location (but was not). I will NEVER recommend Uhaul rental to another soul as long as live due to the problems I encountered with the website. The website is NOT user friendly at all.

The staff consisted of about five people who were all hanging out in the office. I had no idea the place was even open. I walked in to ask a question about leaving the rental and I found them all behind the counter watching me park the truck.

Inform customers up front that reserved trucks may have to be retrieved from other locations. Also inform customers up front that reserving dollies do not guarantee availability. Finally, ensure adequate staffing to ensure guests timely check in/out processes.

As you are aware, the trailer had something wrong with it (a failed wheel bearing most likely) and I had to change trailers. Roadside assistance was slightly helpful. Ultimately it fell on the Oxford center. They were great.

There seemed to be an issue with one customer that took all the time from one of the 3 reps working. That hindered the rest of us waiting. It might have been better if that person could talk to a national rep in a separate room to let the local rep handle those of us waiting in line and pre-registered.

Wish I could rate it terrible. Have everyone at facility take a lesson in customer service, from owner/manager to staff. I reserved a 10 ft truck to be picked up @ a specific date and time. When I arrived was told I had made a mistake, they don't do 1 way rentals for 10 ft trucks. Showed by reservations and confirmation and was told that should not have been done. Was on phone with customer service for more than 90 minutes passed back and forth by everyone finally got one customer service rep who seem to understand. Waited and someone brought truck back in 2 1/2 hours after my schedule pickup time. Asked if truck had been checked for service and was looked at like I was crazy. Rep asked previous driver did he have any problems an he said no and I was told truck was ok. Would like for someone in senior management to call me asap, based on passed experience not expecting a call. Finally, price quoted to be by CS rep was not reflected in my invoice. Have put hold of charges to dispute this. I selected U Haul because of your preceived reputation but will never again.

The first comment was regarding this location. This comment is regarding the first location. I arrived early arms was told that they didn't have my truck s and that I must be at the wrong location. I was told to go to another location. I went to two other locations only to learn that the first location was the right location. I was told that the only truck avaiable was a 26 foot truck, but later learned that it was in fact a 20 foot truck. I orginally wanted to rent a 15 foot truck arms was suppose to be charged for a 15 foot truck, but instead was charged for a 20 foot truck and I was 40 minutes late meeting my movers and waisted a quarter tank of gas on a wild goose chase looking for my uhaul truck.

The entire process was terrible, made a reservation at a certain time and was notified a day before pick up that the time of my reservation had moved, Also was told to pick up part of my order at another location which was several miles from my home when i arrived the authorized dealer did not have the merchandise so i wasted a ton of gas when i finally picked up the truck and trailer at a different location truck was in terrible condition there was also no gas in the vehicle it took the truck three hours to reach over 40 MPH also this truck has terrible gas mileage gas was not lasting over and hour an a half this experience was terrible ‼️

One of the worst experiences, no professionalism whatsoever. Listed MovingHelp is even worse. Scheduling dates were changed multiple times on its own even with invalid information like the empty uboxes were delivered on a day to starting location after the date the boxes were already loaded and picked up back to ship. No information on delivery date or time even after many many attempts. MovingHelp service is not worth. Need serious validation on MovingHelp listed providers.

I have previously had great experiences at this location- the ladies who used to work here were great. For this particular reservation, I made the mistake of forgetting I needed to pick up my rental and was about 60 minutes late when I called the store, realizing my error. I have never done this before, and I rent multiple times a year for my business. I got on the phone and started by apologizing, explaining that it had just slipped my mind and I was so sorry, and said since the store was still open for an hour, I would be there in 10 minutes as soon as I could be. The man on the phone cut me off, telling me in a rude tone that my reservation had been cancelled since I didn't come within 30 minutes (UHaul's overall policy is 60 minutes, but stores get to decide their own policies, so this one is 30 minutes.) I apologized again, asking why it had been cancelled, and I asked if the van had been rented out in the time that I'd been late- he said no. I asked if they were still open- he said yes. I then asked if there was any way I could still come to the store and re-reserve the van I had rented. He started yelling at me and told me that I couldn't rent it again, so I asked why that was, since if my original reservation was for 2 days, and it hadn't been re-rented in the last 30 minutes, it should still be available for me to rent. He just kept yelling and escalating, and I was getting upset, so I finally just got really calm and quiet and said “Sir, I'm just asking for you to have a little grace with me. I completely forgot, I've never done that before, it was an honest mistake and I wasn't trying to ruin your day or mess anything up for you at all. I'm a wedding florist and I really need this van to be able to execute the two weddings I have this weekend. Is there any way that you could please let me rent it again?” He then, still angry, told me I could only rent it if I would come at 7am the next morning when they opened (although they were still open for another hour that night.) Figuring this was my only chance to rent a van, I said okay thank you, I will be there in the morning. He wasn't there the next morning, and the rental went smoothly thankfully. I didn't feel like I could address anything with the manager that checked us out for fear that I wouldn't be allowed to rent the van. I have honestly never been treated so rudely on the phone before. I realize I made a mistake by missing my reservation time, and I started right off the bat by fully apologizing for this. I was met with yelling, resistance, and hostility and had to figure out how to de-escalate the situation myself. I would maybe understand yelling at me like this or refusing to help at all if I had started off yelling, accusing, blaming him, or anything like that, but it was the opposite. I'm not sure if he had just had a long day, just got really frustrated I was late, or what, but none of that was an excuse to treat me the way he did. I completely understand cancelling the reservation since I was late, but he could have just told me that firmly and professionally (and good customer service would have been offering me what he could do, which was letting me rent it again). I have had several instances lately with this location specifically and with UHaul in general that have been horrible customer service, and I am doing my best to find other rental companies for my business to use the 20 times a year we need cargo vans, because I don't want to ever work with Uhaul again.

Belle is an excellent manager of the 800 28th St N, Birmingham, AL location. She is personable with customers. She communicates well. She can multitask. She believes in customer service. She is solution oriented. She has a good and helpful attitude. She manages other employees well. I witnessed a lot of skills within a relatively short timeframe. I really appreciated her assistance throughout the reservation and return of the rental truck. Because of her, I would use that location again.

Too many "small" fees that add up. Nothing advertised as $20 should end up costing over $100. I was charged by the mile, then put gas back in the car, then was charged again for two gallons of gas at over $5 per gallon even though the gas gauge was where it was when i picked up the uhaul. Absolutely ridiculous. Because of this i would only recommend uhaul as a last resort unless you have a bunch of money to throw around and like getting ripped off. Also they try to nickel and dime you into buying things like bungee cords so if you do have to use them make sure you bring all of your own straps, covers, etc.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had with any storage company or any customer service in general. The staff from the very beginning was horrible to work with rude and not knowledgeable about anything that I asked. I will never ever ever use U-Haul as a storage company if I can help it because of my experience with this location the manager was the worst manager I have ever experienced as a customer.

Try to charge you extra for anything. Don't supply things that were ordered. Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. This is a game to staff they even laugh at giving people issues as if moving isn't enough already.

The Staff, particularly Paul Barnett & the manager lady were rude and threatening and not helpful or willing to help. They insisted that they could not and would not help me. After letting them know that I gave them my business by renting storage at this facility and that someone higher up the chain needed to help resolve my problem, they said that the buck stopped with them.

The storage part of the store closed early one night and was locked when I brought a full load ready to unload at my storage unit. I had checked the hours online, as well as called the location to confirm the hours, before I went to load up my trailer to bring to the storage unit. The employee I talked to on the phone informed me that it closed at 7, which matched what it said online. When I got the storage unit around 6:40 the outside doors were locked. I called the store and talked to the same employee, and she told me that it was closed and that she never said it was open til 7 and that I would have to wait until 9am the next day. I begged and tried to plead my case on the phone for them to just come open it for a few minutes so that we could unload our stuff. They refused and argued back. Terrible customer service. They then locked the doors to the store and said it was closed too so that we could not talk to them in person. It would have maybe taken 10 minutes tops for us to get everything unloaded and into our unit. Instead, because of that employee, I had to bring all the stuff back to where I had gotten it and unload it and wait til the next day to do it all over again. Pretty ridiculous, especially after I had called to confirm the times just to make sure nothing like that would happen. Cannot support this location in the future with employees and practices like that

Was told the storage units were open til 7pm on Saturday's when I signed up. Called around 5:30pm on Saturday just to make sure facility would be open til 7 and also checked online. Was told 7pm again. Showed up with a full trailer of things to put into storage around 6:40 pm and the door to the storage entrance was locked. Called the front office and they told us they close at 6:30 and they said that they never told us they close at 7. That was only the beginning of the rude conversation. (I know the workers were just trying to skip out of work early.) They also then locked the doors to the main area so that we couldn't talk to them in person. Because they wouldn't allow us the couple minutes to unload all of our stuff and put it into our storage unit, we had to bring it all back to where we got it from and unload it again. Will have to do it all over again at another time because of the employees. Because of this, I can never recommend this location to anyone.

From the time of dealing with customer service, I was very please with their patience and concern of my needs. The person advised that he was fairly new there but, I couldn't tell because I think did a good job getting me taken care of. I appreciated him making sure I had the size storage that I needed and taking me to it. He tried to find a storage that would be very convenient for me to get to. I appreciated that.
