Office staff were fairly helpful. Units felt like they were in a safe environment. But when it comes to the actual units, I cannot provide any positive feedback. Unit is marketed as climate controlled but is basically at the same temperature and humidity as the outdoors during the summer. We also had water damage in our unit which led to mold on several books and textbooks. I would not recommend this storage facility to any friends or family based on the quality of the units.

Customer service at this location is horrible. There's no respect for a person's time. Just a suggestion, training is definitely needed especially in customer service, greeting clients and time management. Employee's should take pride in their job. There is no professionalism. To the owner, please check on your establishment.

The general manager and two ladies in the office helping me did the best they can despite the horrendous experience and issues I had. Not only are there bugs everywhere and are now going to be in all my things. But I had to pay the guys I hired through uhual moving help an extra 2 hours $160 to move my stuff into 4 separate lockers the night before.

The customer service at this location was impeccable. Carmena the general manager made sure we were satisfied. Angela, Keneithia, and Yolanda all were very kind and determined to make sure we understood some changes that were made through the process. I had to pay a month's worth of storage for 4 days of use this month before moving everything out and closing the account. They need to offer a rebate for the other 26 days its sitting unused (or probably being rented to another customer).

I came into Uhaul today to rent a truck and upon return there was a discrepancy on the field and the amount charged. I must say that Ms. Carmena, the GM, and her Assistant Mgr, I'm sorry I forgot her name, went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help my situation. I appreciate their attentiveness and willingness to resolve the issue. I will continue to support this location. Shout out to customer support as well!!

I am commending the manager, Carmena, at the Birmingham al pick up site. She had two very upset customers and she dealt with them extremely well, polite and professional. One customer was loud and cursing them - yelling. I was very impressed with her calm, polite, firm dealing with this very rude man. You have a jewel there.

The person that set me up with my truck and storage didn't know that the facility doesn't use a card to access it after hours. I was told to use the card and if that didn't work call. I was scheduled to return the truck at 10:15 pm but couldn't use the storage bc it was occupied. It was a waste of 2 days but at least the manager didn't charge me an extra day with the truck but I had to drive far for a another storage location

Rented a 6 by 12 cargo trailer and ended up not needing it because we were able to fit everything in our moving truck. Returned the trailer the next day and they gave me a refund for the 3 remaining days on my rental. Return was easy and they did a great job refunding me.

I had multiple problems with scheduling pickup and delivery from my house and back to my house. Confirmation emails even came a day after it was confirming for a delivery the day before! Communication between departments is terrible and your main number doesn't allow an option to contact the local location. A very frustrating experience. Charged for 2 boxes. I was told I would not be charged if I ended up not needing the 2nd box. It was picked up empty, but I was charged for it anyway. I scheduled delivery of the one box I did use to have it delivered before I would be charged for another month but scheduling messed up and even though a delivery date had been confirmed days before, the box was delivered back to me a day later and I was charged for another month. Refunds were made and the charges were not unreasonable, but dealing with the phone calls, the unbelievable waiting times, the screw-ups made on every aspect of this transaction were ridiculous.

I rented a storage unit by the previous management in May . I went back a few months later to check on my belongings and found that i had not been assigned the unit that I had been previously told to use . Long story short Carmena , Kenieth and the u-haul team saved me from a huge loss . Reservation was booked for Palisades Corner Store, upon arrival was told they didn't have the reservation, called another location on Valley Road they did not have the reservation, finally got the trailer on 28th Street. Reservation was prepaid and all checkin procedures were complete and it took over an hour and a half to get the trailer. Your staff on 28th street had two people who knew what they were doing, everyone else just stood around, didn't know how to work the computer, really poor service other than the two employees that were trying to service several customers.

I enjoyed my stay at that particular location. I really didn't have any issues, but when I did the staff was able to point me in the right direction. The facility was always clean! I'm glad that they are expanding at that location to offer more storage. My only change I would like to see is maybe adding a netted covering over the storage units because over time the fallen debris from the old building and bird poop gets on your stored items.

I rented a trailer I'm disabled and the equipment was very heavy, the lady came out with me and stood there while I tried to lift the equipment so I hurt my back, so when I tried to pick it up the next time she helped but the damage had been already done, also I paid extra for the insurance I drove 4 hours and on the way back to Birmingham the light on the trailer stopped working, I called roadside service waited 2 hours no one called me back so I left and drove at night with no lights, it was very dangerous and was glad I made it safely, I spoke with a manager on this issue he was a manager can't remember his name that checked me in but he put the equipment out of service and stated that I would not be charged haven't seen a refund as of yet we're see

UHaul did not deliver our boxes on time, and then billed us, the customer, for UHaul's errors. Half our boxes were delivered more than two weeks late, the other half were delivered over three weeks late. Then UHaul charged us nearly $600 in extra storage/rent fees for their failure to deliver our possessions on time, when we had a two man crew waiting idly for the better part of a month. I am still waiting to have my money refunded. Beware.

My only complaint with the drop off location was I told them the issues with the roaches and I had to spray two cans of raid and Lysol. They said they would hold my ticket and let me know what they would do about it but I was charged anyway. $405.29??? I sent something else in and I've contacted my credit card company. I'll give them a chance to do something about it, if they don't I will disputed the charges!

1) Allow me to pick up my rental at my preferred place. Instead you sent me to a place 1 1/2 hours away. Then you changed the location but nobody notified us. The text you sent listed the 3rd location but when I logged into my account it listed the original location. When I called to confirm I got conflicting information. 2) Address the reps that kept hanging up on us when we called to ask about the rental. 3) Address the manager at the pickup location in Birmingham, AL. Rudest person I ever met. I was told we would receive an extra 150 miles on the rental. When I informed her of this, she called me a liar because she didn't see it. The rep helping me found the note on the 2nd page. 4) Again, the rude manager. When I asked if I could get a 10' truck like I wanted, she said (in an ugly tone) “You'll get whatever is on your reservation!” I reserved a 10' truck but UHaul changed it to a 15' truck; not me. 5) Rent safe equipment. After I arrived at my location I noticed the rear tires were completely bald. UHaul better be glad I didn't have a blow out and cause a wreck. I was so focused on inspecting damage in the pre trip notification I didn't think about the tires. This was the worse rental experience I ever had.

I've been doing business with U-Haul for about 40 years with some problems from time to time, but also had many great experiences with some locations. My experience with the Uptown Birmingham location has been horrific! This location is chaotic and needs management. They made many promises to me over this last week that they did not follow through on. I made a reservation 6 days in advance to access my belongings that were stored in u-boxes. For 4 days I was living in an empty house waiting on U-Haul to follow through on their promise to get me access to my you boxes. The worst part is that for three of those four days I was hanging out at the house all day based on a promise that they were delivering the boxes on that day and they never showed. 3 wasted days of my life I'll never get back. I made many phone calls to them and spent several hours on hold trying to talk with someone for a status update. not to mention the gas I wasted making two trips to this location for nothing. Several times I requested call backs but never received one. The icing on the cake is that they issued a $50 refund to me, the problem is the credit card number they refunded it to doesn't belong to me! I'm so frustrated with this company and they have lost my trust.

My reservation was at 7:30 pm and the location advertised that it closed at 8 pm. I arrived a few minutes early and began the checkin process. When I went to get the keys from inside, the location was already closed (7:30 pm). I was unable to get the truck I had reserved and was unable to move out of my house.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had with any storage company or any customer service in general. The staff from the very beginning was horrible to work with rude and not knowledgeable about anything that I asked. Try to charge you extra for anything. Don't supply things that were ordered. Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. This is a game to staff they even laugh at giving people issues as if moving isn't enough already.

Also it was complications with my payment when I already paid online; I had to go through the payment process all over again.

The employees here can be really rude, and not very helpful. Everything is on their time which can be very slow so don't be in a hurry. I dreaded coming here and having to deal with the employees. I will definitely be avoiding this location in the future.

I was over charged when a team member made a mistake. U-Haul would not take responsibility. When I asked to fix the mistake team members were rude. I saw a rat in storage facility. I will never return to this storage facility and warn everyone not to consider this location for storage needs.

First time using any kind of storage facility. They didn't make it easy to understand nor were they helpful in their description of what to do or where to go. We fingered it out eventually and got everything moved in. The carts at the door were convient and it made the storing stuff faster than moving out.

The Staff, particularly Paul Barnett & the manager lady were rude and threatening and not helpful or willing to help. They insisted that they could not and would not help me. After letting them know that I gave them my business by renting storage at this facility and that someone higher up the chain needed to help resolve my problem, they said that the buck stopped with them.

The storage part of the store closed early one night and was locked when I brought a full load ready to unload at my storage unit. I had checked the hours online, as well as called the location to confirm the hours, before I went to load up my trailer to bring to the storage unit. The employee I talked to on the phone informed me that it closed at 7, which matched what it said online. When I got the storage unit around 6:40 the outside doors were locked. I called the store and talked to the same employee, and she told me that it was closed and that she never said it was open til 7 and that I would have to wait until 9am the next day. I begged and tried to plead my case on the phone for them to just come open it for a few minutes so that we could unload our stuff. They refused and argued back. Terrible customer service. They then locked the doors to the store and said it was closed too so that we could not talk to them in person. It would have maybe taken 10 minutes tops for us to get everything unloaded and into our unit. Instead, because of that employee, I had to bring all the stuff back to where I had gotten it and unload it and wait til the next day to do it all over again. Pretty ridiculous, especially after I had called to confirm the times just to make sure nothing like that would happen. Cannot support this location in the future with employees and practices like that

Was told the storage units were open til 7pm on Saturday's when I signed up. Called around 5:30pm on Saturday just to make sure facility would be open til 7 and also checked online. Was told 7pm again. Showed up with a full trailer of things to put into storage around 6:40 pm and the door to the storage entrance was locked. Called the front office and they told us they close at 6:30 and they said that they never told us they close at 7. That was only the beginning of the rude conversation. (I know the workers were just trying to skip out of work early.) They also then locked the doors to the main area so that we couldn't talk to them in person. Because they wouldn't allow us the couple minutes to unload all of our stuff and put it into our storage unit, we had to bring it all back to where we got it from and unload it again. Will have to do it all over again at another time because of the employees. Because of this, I can never recommend this location to anyone.

From the time of dealing with customer service, I was very please with their patience and concern of my needs. The person advised that he was fairly new there but, I couldn't tell because I think did a good job getting me taken care of. I appreciated him making sure I had the size storage that I needed and taking me to it. He tried to find a storage that would be very convenient for me to get to. I appreciated that.
