The employee in Missouri that hooked up my trailer put the wrong equipment number on the contract. When I showed up to return the trailer to a location in Georgia the contract didn't match the unit I had in my possession. A small mistake on their part but a big headache on mine.Shawn C.

The people there were personable. One tire was 30 lbs low, the other's were all several pounds low. I received a text the day after I turned the trailer in stating I was past the due date and it wasn't returned. It was 6:30 pm the night before it was due. I can only assume they didn't check it in when I returned it because of the closing time of 7 pm. After another text and a couple phone calls I received a correct final invoice copy with no apology for assuming I hadn't returned the equipment. Drop off was scheduled for between 10-12. Called at 9 and was told that the driver had just loaded up the boxes. Called at 11:00 was told they just saw the driver take off. Called at 12:00 - couldn't get through. My movers were only available for a certain amount of time. At 11:15 I was told the driver was 30 mins away. Which I relayed to my movers. They came at 12:45 and proceed to charge me for standing around until 1:20 when the guy FINALLY showed up. I will not pay the full amount, I demand a credit in the amount of at least the money that I paid my movers to stand around waiting for the driver. I cannot in good conscience recommend U-Haul, at least here in Columbia, MO. Things were smooth in Columbus, OH, but what happened Saturday has left a sour taste.Judy B.

Clean the seats; check your breaks; and tell your customers "exactly" how much gas there is in the tank. I was told there was a quarter; it turned out there was barely half of a quarter in the tank (and, yes, I have a picture of the dashboard to prove it). I returned the van with almost half of the tank full; I expected a reimbursement. The reason was that while I was checking in the day before, I heard an associate explaining the company's policy to another customer; he said: "if you return the vehicle with a quarter more gas, you will receive $15 in reimbursement." Train your customer service staff on how to do their job and to be polite. The attendant where I returned my rental was rude and dismissive. So, I went inside to get a recept and was given one that belonged to someone else. This attendant was nice but clearly not adequately trained for his job. I was charged $1 per mile for 9 miles overage. I was only given an allowance for 68 miles which was basically the distance from the checkin center to the return center and no allowance to where I was moving from or to where I was moving to.Was there an option to buy extra miles upfront at a reasonable price? I don't know as it was not offered. I returned the truck with more gas than what was in it to start. I was told no refund could be issued for gas, but no reluctance to charge me for the mileage overage. Also, I only had to use the rental for about 10 of the 24 hours I paid for.Gary R.

Renting a U-haul used to be the least expensive option... Rent the truck for $19.99 a day!!! (But we're going to charge $1.29 per mile and you still have to refill the gas used.) Overall, an excellent experience, staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the truck was satisfactory, but the cost was shocking! When the pods were dropped off; they were put in extremely bad positions. The ramp to 2 of the containers were positioned over an open sewer drain. One of the pods did not have a ramp attached. There were over 200 furniture pads; WAY too many and took up needed space. I called to have them pick up the pads. The customer service person said â€œthere are only 25 per pod.â€ I tried to tell her that we have counted them and there are photos, but she just transferred me. It turns out, the pod with 217 furniture pads and NO ramp was the pod the location stored its extra pads in. They said they would pick them up, they never did. So we left them sitting outside near the pods. I had to call several times to have the pods picked up. Then after I got a notification that all 4 pods were in storage at the Columbia location, I went back to the house the next day and saw one of the trailers with 2 of my pods still sitting in the road! I had to go to the actual location to get someone to pick it up. They refused to honor the drop off date that I agreed to when the salesperson offered it to me on the phone. Then they didn't drop it off until 3 days after the agreed upon date. The delivery was exceptional; Jordan was extremely helpful and willing to put the pods where I wanted them and it's not an easy location to place pods. They were as late picking the empty pods up as they were dropping them off. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone who is moving more than a studio apartment or dorm room. I used the POD calculator and it was way off. We would have needed at least two more if we brought any living room furniture at all. We have very little furniture to begin with.SHANA G.

People were friendly, and I got through the system in reasonable time. However, there were issues. Every time I have rented a trailer here, it has needed maintenance. On the first, they replaced some parts in the tongue. The last two trailers have had issues closing the single door. The long pole that holds the eccentrics that engage the door has had to be lifted to get the door closed. The second issue was when the trailer was hooked up, I did not double check the installer. The ball clamp was not tightened and trailer came off about a mile later--at 55 mph on the interstate. Excitement, to say the least. Thankfully the chains did what they were supposed to. I returned the trailer 8 hours later after using it and apparently it was not checked in. I got a call 2 days later, but when I returned the call, I was disconnected before leaving a message. Today I received a text message asking about the trailer and telling me it had not been returned--extra charges would apply. I went to the location. The trailer was there, and we were able to straighten things up fairly quickly, but that was 30 minutes that I should not have had to spend.STEVE E.

The employees are very rude. I was put on autopay by an employee without my approval. I called once and talked to the manager and explained to him that my rent would be late, I asked him not to run my card payment because the funds wouldn't be there. 5 days later my card was still charged causing me overdraft fees. I called back and he reversed the transaction which took 4 days and then I was charge more late fees. They are incompetent and don't communicate well with eachother. I was paying for a gated facility but sometimes the gate was wide open and within the last 6 months the gate had been removed. A number of things. First, we did not have a code to get into the secured area where the storage was located. So we had to wait until the one guy working there came over to punch the code in to get us in. Then we drive in and head to the back where the storage was located to find a lock on his door. So I drove back out of the secured area to find out you needed a code to get out! We had no code. We could not communicate with anyone because there was no one around. The call button on the code pad did not work so we stood there waiting for about 30 minutes until some guy loading his own stuff outside the gated area went and got someone for us. So then we got out and had to wait for another guy to figure out how to get the lock off. That took another 20 minutes until he finally found a key. For whatever reasons, we were unable to access our unit for 2 days because the storage facility and the parking lot at the u-haul center was overflowing with u-haul trucks.
