Although Move-In day was fine (no issues), we have subsequently been back 2 times to retrieve items. Both times the elevator has been broken and when you have a 2nd floor unit this is inconvenient. Also, we now cannot get our BBQ out for the Fourth Of July and we have an appliance to retrieve (Freezer) after our move-in. Both items cannot be carried downstairs. Pick up of truck was delayed 2 days due to unavailability. Unfortunately we found this out the night before so had to scramble to rearrange loading crew. Vehicle itself was pristine and drive up the WV I-64 mountains smooth as glass. Oh, and towing a car carrier like it wasn't even there.Cheri S.

Very misleading pickup price didn't match pickup price. Hidden charges the employee told me I could drop off any location and now I'm being charged. The gas wasn't accurate on the lot now I'm being charged for that. Definitely not a good place to deal with BEWARE of the Virginia Beach boulevard location. Said I left truck with 1/8 tank of gas. Picked it up with 1/4 and dropped it off with 1/4. Was charged $66.00 for fuel and service charge. I have picture of gas needle and mileage when picked up and dropped. Is the same.Barbara M.

I booked a 15-foot truck through the Uhaul Website with time to spare (3 weeks or a month in advance of my move) on the day of pickup the person behind the counter stated they didn't have a 15-foot available and acted like that was supposed to be the end of that. I had to talk him into renting a 10-foot truck (it's the only key I saw on the wall) just so I could move on time. The move took an extra trip from one house to the other (because the truck was smaller) and ended up costing me more in miles. no one ever even took the time to say I'm sorry for your inconvenience or let me knock off some mile because this wasn't the truck I reserved. I want nothing else to do with Uhaul. I will never step foot in Uhaul again and I'm letting everyone I know about the service I received.Christine M.

The staff was extremely helpful with booking storage units. There was an issue where my storage unit was canceled and the young man helped me find units even though the time went past closing time.JASON Y.
I picked up the truck , it was neat and clean . Overall experience was okay . But when they gave the truck they gave fuel at 3/8 and expect us to return the fuel at same level which is difficult to match like 3/8 . They should have given either half tank or full tank of fuel so that it is easier to fill and avoid overfilling . I ended up overfilling by 4 gallons as the fuel meter pointer was not working fine . I told same to the uhaul customer representative. But they did not do anything . If you under fill you will be penalized. They do not credit you back if you overfill because their fuel meter pointer is not accurate.RamaKrishna C.

I would appreciate it if Phill no longer assisted my needs at this location. Every time he connects my equipment there is an issue and specifically for this rental the chains were dragging which caused me to have to stop along the road and adjust them. he fails to move with a sense of urgency resulting in extended wait times to be connected to equipment.Kenneth S.

I had reservations on 5/14 and 5/15; this review is in regard to the 5/15 reservation. I reserved a 20 foot truck. After we had all paperwork done they realized there was no 20 foot truck (they had also told me that truck had half tank gas). They gave me a 15 foot truck instead but said the information would be transferred over to the new "contract" and it had 1/4 tank of gas and dolly and pads were in the truck. At this point I had a shorter truck than I need which means I have to drive more miles and double my work and I'm over 30 minutes late getting out of there. I get to my destination to realize that there are no pads or dolly in the back. The pad bag had the little security tag on the zipper. So instead of getting pads and replacing them someone was either incompetent or lazy and just put the tag on the bag. When I did the mobile return that evening it showed a fuel charge on my receipt to which I disputed (but never got a follow up on). I saw the incorrect charge on my card so I called and they put in a "ticket". I received an email today that said the truck left on 5/16 a tank of gas and I brought it back on 1/4. Even though I was told it had 1/4 tank. Based on my experiences with the staff that day, I'm sure they had no idea that it was truly 5/16, God forbid someone get up and check anything around there. So UHaul pretty much gave me nothing I needed that day, but is going to charge me 2 gallons of gas (and I only went 17 total miles). What a joke this location (and follow up) was. I originally was attempting to do everything online, unfortunately the app was not scanning the barcode of the truck. I went inside, and the young lady behind the counter was very helpful...However, the keys to the vans were on the wall (not in the lockbox), the system originally had my rental for much longer than the 1 day, AND (not sure if it was the store's doing based on commissions, bonuses, etc. but) the rental insurance was on there as well. When she mentioned it, I didn't complain as because I figured that $10 was less expensive than be charged a $20 convenience fee for dealing with someone live. Not sure if this is a scam by that location or by uhaul in general, but...next time, I have a rental need, I will more than likely try another location to see if the outcomes differs or is the same. If it turns out to be the same, I'm know that it was a company wide scam and I'm do business elsewhere from that point on.Joshua D.

If I'm ever in need of a storage unit again I'll definitely choose your facility. Every encounter from the day of check in to the day of check out was seemless. You guys have done an excellent job in picking the best staff. They are all funny, engaging and helpful. I'm sorry I can't remember names but last 2 interactions stand out the most. The first lady (she has a nose ring) was so kind and sweet helping me after I lost my key card. The second lady (I believe she had teal highlights) who helped me get my truck checked me and another guy out at the same time, can you say skills and efficiency, she was also kind and hilarious. The storage unit was sealed. Took 45 min in line to speak with person at desk. He didn't know why the hnit had a green plastic seal on the latch. He said he would have to see it, but he had other customers to take care of. My movers broke the seal to enter the locker. The roll up door started falling off the roller. Very dangerous! Another 30 min wait to get another storage locker…the "last one available"…and it had a padlock on it. Back to find someone to remove the padlock. Wound up paying movers an extra $250 for overtime due to storage unit problems and waiting at counter for help. Other storage unit is $15 more, also. Really not happy.LINDA L. | Online Move In

Everything went pretty well except for the fact that the guy at the desk handed me my access card when I first checked in for my reservation, he said just use this later when you want to put your stuff into storage and you'll be able to get in. I went to go drop my stuff later (around 10PM) when they were closed, and it said access denied you have to check in first. I looked around for directions and it said you have to check in at the alarm system station which was right next to it. I try to swipe it there and it still says access denied. Needless to say, they didn't really give me good instructions for after hours. I tried to call the number that said for "after hours only" and they didn't answer. Just a heads up, nothing crazy. I just dropped my stuff off the next day when they were open, and dropped the truck off right after. Easy day.Andrew W. | First Impressions

The staff and facility manager were very generous and wonderful! Great customer service and they allowed me to temporarily store my belongings in the truck for a few days due to my apartment not ready to move in yet so it was a bit of a delay which is still is but the Uhaul staff was very considerate enough to allow me to hold their moving truck while i was waiting for my apartment to be done. The staff was not very detailed on how to access the adjacent building. They did not activate the card so we had to walk back to the building, nor inform us that we would need to cut off a zip tie, or how to open the latch. After several attempts at trying to enter the building ...they had to redo my contract again beachside they gave my unit I just rented away to someone else....when I final entered the unit the first thing I noticed was the huge rat trap as I looked around I noticed lots of rat feces and urine all over the unit so I decided to take my business somewhere that doesn’t have an obvious rodent problem not to mention clean.Alfred Kelly S. | Overall Experience

My things were not there that long, a couple months and my sectional was covered in mold along with a couple of sealed bins with clothes in them.
