The only reason I put average was that I had to walk two buildings away to get the truck myself. They didn't bring it to the building where the office is. Any other time I have rented from U-Haul they bring the truck to me. Staff was friendly.

It did take me a long time to figure out how to turn of the cargo light (it was on when I rented it just didn't notice till I went to load it) in the 2024 dodge pro master 2500. I had to look up a YouTube video of another guy who rented the same van. If you look up on the internet it says there should be a switch, however you actual have to push the light.

I ended up running late and returned the van and hour and a half later than I had initially expected, and they charged me for a second day rental, and another day's worth of the additional insurance. Which I think is very unfair. If I had kept it to the next day then that would have been expected, but I still returned at the same day and within business hours. I recommend to anybody renting a vehicle for a day just tell them you're going to bring it back at 11:59 p.m. just to cover yourself

The only reason why I mentioned that the equipment wasn't clean and well maintained is the truck cab literally smelled like WEED (lol) as if someone had smoked in it before me. Also, some of the knobs and controls in the cab are pretty worn and trashed, and some broken.

The truck and tow dolly were not accessible at the center I chose. Forced to go to Canal Street. Longer commute added miles. I needed a hand truck but all they had was a refrigerator dolly. The ratchet binders needed lubrication badly on the tow dolly. The customer service person was being trained and I feel I was not handled very well.

I started off in Route 57 in Liverpool. Customer Service there was A-1. The truck I needed wasn't available so they found one and booked it for me in Syracuse. There were at least 3 employees there but only 1 was actually helping customers. I had to look around rhe lot 10 minutes to find my truck. Everything was self-service other than taking my CC. I was told the tank was 3/4 full and that's what was indicated on the agreement but it was only 1/2 full. I returned the truck after midnight but less than 24 hours. The final charge in my CC was over $150 more than the agreement I signed. I've been patronizing UHaul my entire adult life. I've always had good experiences with good customer service until Canal St in Syracuse.

When we arrived, there weren't clear directions about the two-step check-in and access boxes, which necessitated a walk over to the office. The woman at the counter was very helpful, so my review doesn't have anything to do with the service that she provided. A simple sign at the storage facility entrance explaining the "gold then silver" boxes would prevent these issues. The staff said that the customer in front of me had the same issue and that it was common. Seems like there is an easy fix. Once we accessed the building, the storage unit had standing water from an overhead pipe that was currently leaking. Also, the lock was supposed to be in the unit, but it was not. Another trip to the office. We were hot and tired and emotionally drained because we were moving furniture to accommodate a hospital bed as a loved one enters Hospice. Moving into a U-Haul storage unit should not be complicated.
