I picked up the truck at 4am with the mobile app. The truck was on empty and showed 38km left in the tank. Was taken advantage of with the fuel reading. Employee who took in the truck agreed with me on the reading but said it was not up to him, but up to the machine. Said he had to charge $21 for fuel even though it was short about 1 litre. Diagram from his reading in the email to me in not reflective of the actual reading. It was a tiny fraction off of 1/2 mark. Was approx 1 litre off. Contract says I would be charged $1.85 per liter, but he says he has to charge me $21. This was theft pure and simple.LAWRENCE L.

The van clearly requires maintenance as the steering is loose, felt very sloppy, pulling to the right. The last 3 times I have rented I registered online for pickup so I did not have to go into the office area. Two of the three times it didn't work and I had to get help. The online process is clumsy & cumbersome. Once at the lot the steps to go thru on my phone to get a vehicle are too many after having already gone thru a 20 minute process from my laptop. The list of questions, do I want packing supplies, do I want a dolly, do I want a helper etc etc is aggravating. One page with a list would suffice.ALLAN L.

I rent at this location a lot and it's getting to the point where I'm going to start going to north vancouver to rent my trailers and trucks. Today for instance they rent me a trailer and when we go to put it on the my hitch the trailer receiver is broken. So I wait 1/2 hr for them to sort out what trailer they were going to give me. When I brought it back there was a uhaul guy there but he was to busy talking to his friend so I unhooked the trailer and while I was doing this he walked right past me. So I went to the office and told them I've put the trailer at the back with the other trailers and they couldn't find it for 10 minutes. Email I sent to customer service for registering my complaint: To whom it may concern, I would like to make a complaint about the services I had from U-Hual, last Saturday, May 29 2021, that I rented. The reservation was in name of Rafael Bessa da Costa, telephone 778-840-6919. - I originally booked my moving to be from Vancouver downtown to South Surrey/White Rock returning the truck in Langley, as you did not have Uhaul return in white rock region. - One day prior my moving I received a call from U-Haul saying they did not have trucks available in Vancouver downtown, only in Southeast Marine drive. First of the inconveniences. - On the day of my moving I went to the store on Marine drive to pick up the truck and the moving supplies and they told me to return the truck in North Delta in an U-Haul store. - When I left the store I received a message saying that my return was to happen on a store called Phantom Tires in Surrey. - Later on the same day I went to Phantom tires to return the truck. Upon my arrival, I was told my truck was not on the list of that store. - I tried to contact U-Haul services and waited over 30 minutes in the line without any answer from your customer service. I was lucky that eventually the customer representative from Phantom Tires was able to find my truck using the bar code and manually return it on the system with his manager approval. In summary, I am very disappointed with the services provided. Not only U-Haul could not commit with the original location of the truck, but also forgot to include my truck in the place of return. Also worth mentioning it is hard to say is a U-Haul return place because it is hard to spot any U-haul sign without talking to the employees. Multiple issues. First the truck I rented had a broken rear turn signal. I noted water in the light when doing my inspection but I did not realize it was not working until I was already gone on my trip. Vehicles should not be rented out with broken turn signals. When I returned the truck the person who inspected gave me the go ahead to leave and said I would be emailed the receipt. No mention of any issue. I then noticed I was charged for gas. I had stopped a few blocks away to fill the truck to the level I got it at so I know this was false. But either way if I was going to be charged I should have been told when he inspected things, not have it snuck onto the bill. I called in and the store removed the fuel charge but not before telling me I was wrong and also telling me I estimated my trip distance incorrectly. When picking up the truck I was never asked how far I expected to drive. I was very aware of this as I have rented for this exact purpose multiple times before and I know exactly what I would have said. The 31km that was entered was not done by me. It was pretty stupid that I was told multiple times on the phone that I did it and I did it wrong. There was also an issue with the mileage charged. The total price I was charged was correct but there is some sketchy "accounting" shown on the receipt. I drove 73km but it shows that as miles on the receipt and a conversion to 118km. This is just incorrect documentation but I was charged correctly. It would just be nice to get a receipt that was not wrong.BRADEN B.

Although I did alll I could on the website to accelerate the pickup process, it went slowly because of two things - long lineup, and confusion around the drop-off location. The website issued me a receipt indicating that the drop-off would be in Chilliwack. When I picked up the trailer, the Vancouver staff documented it to be a drop-off at Langley. I objected immediately. The staff member gave me a phone number to call once I arrived at my destination, saying that the drop-off would be worked out later. If pickup was slow, drop-off was outrageous. When I called that number I got a run-around, aggravated by very long wait times. I was transferred to phone centres in at least 3 locations. One of them was in southern Alberta - which was bizarre, considering that the pickup and drop-off were all in British Columbia's Lower Mainland. Each customer service representative told me that he or she lacked authority to help me. They each transferred me to another service centre. The people in that service centre told me that they lacked the authority to help me, and they transferred me back to the first group. Almost every staff member told me that I had agreed to drop the trailer off in Langley. I had not agreed to drop the trailer in Langley. When they looked deeper into the records, they found the receipt that the computer issued me. I was not willing to pay the exorbitant surcharge. I wanted what what the website sold me. Pickup in Vancouver, Drop-off in Chilliwack. All told, I spent about 2 hours on the phone. Most of that time, I was on hold. As I grew angrier and angrier, I was obliged to listen to cheery recorded voices repeating the joys of U-Haul's services. The same messages, over and over and over. To make the next customer happier, I suggest that the staff honour what the website sells. I suggest that your phone system start offering a call-back option.Henry W.

My reservation was a mess. I got a call 2 hours before my pick up time from the location saying vehicle not available. I had hired movers. Later I got downgraded to 20 ft truck from 26ft truck that I had booked. I couldn't fit all my stuff. It caused me a lot of pain and trouble. Also there was bunch of issues with my bill. I don't know if I will use uhaul again. Tbh, I need a full refund for all the inconvenience caused to me. I would have been better off hiring a local company.Sovit C.

Had a great experience. Easy. I'm a young adult moving with no help and this experience made my day go much easier. I was also able to upgrade based on what equipment was available and that was great. And interactions with employees were great. Upon return, an employee claimed I caused a scratch on the roof of the van. The employee completing the inspection then called over his colleague to inspect the "damage" while speaking in their own language. They then decided that they would try to wipe it off without allowing me to watch what they were doing. After their attempt to try and clean off the scratch they then accuse me of driving underground and having broken off the plastic pegs on the back of the roof and how I would now be charged $400-500 for the "damages". As I inspected the "damage" myself, there was unnoticeable damage on the top of the truck, and if there was, it would have been there before my rental. When asked for the "before" pictures, the employee conveniently says he is unable to find it and that now he would get his manager to check whether or not I would be responsible for the damage. The manager comes out, speaks with the employee, again in their own native language, and after further discussion I was now free to leave. The whole rental experience was quite unprofessional from the very beginning. When asked to locate my van, one of the employees had me walk around the entire vicinity without appropriate guidance, wasting 20 minutes of my time. Next, there was no one to do a thorough inspection with me to point out any previous damages. Last, the employees speaking in their own language accusing me of "damages" without any proof. I don't expect an apology or any sort of compensation but I do wish some changes are made so future customers do not experience what I have experienced.Thomas L.

I called the facility and was not able to get any support.. calls were picked up, I could hear people talking in the background, then immediately disconnected. Major hassle - cancelled shipment of Ubox without notification, costing us 10 days delay. Returned unused furniture pads, but have been charged for missing pads at the destination. Total hold time on the phone trying to sort out these issues has been approx 4 hours. Thankfully have also had some great service and a good resolution to most issues. We gave made use of U-Haul on many occasions in the past. Recently we have made use of this location on Marine Drive in Vancouver, which has been our bedt experience by a long way. The counter staff are pleasant and knowledgeable with the service staff being very helpful in delivering the best vehicle to use. Selected auto payments for my unit. My credit card didn't change or expire, yet there was no attempt to Bill it. I called customer support sat on hold for 20min to talk to someone. They couldn't help me reverse the late charges that your company assessed without contacting me about the billing. There are no words to describe how awful my experience with UHaul was from day one right to the bitter end. From the debacle renting my truck in Regina to getting to Vancouver and having absolutely nothing go right the entire time. I literally don't have a single positive thing to say about it and I'm normally a pretty positive person. I've had a lot of storage units in a lot of places and I've never experienced anything like this. I did not at all have a positive interaction with any staff other than the janitor. She was delightful. Everything was a struggle and I don't understand why. It's such a simple operation, yet tons of ineptitude was found in places I didn't think had room for any. Zero stars out of 10. And yes, I can give specific after specific of why my rating is literally as low as it can go. I've never, ever rated a business this low before. My only concern was the amount of mice droppings on the items stored. There were 2 bait boxes in my locker but not once was I asked for access so they could be repaired. I did not notice a single bait box in common hallways. I did look after I realized the amount of droppings in my locker. Not given the access code to the building at any of these times, and after placing a lot of calls to customer service to solve both of these problems and being told they would get back to me, I was never reached out to again. My only concern was that there was no facility to pull up a 15 Ft UHaul to offload at the storage. It was very inconvenient having to lug heavy furniture a distance from the storage. The other place I rented at the competition was perfect. It is always impossible to get through to the Marine Drive location. Twice I was put on hold for over 1/2 hour and the third time transferred over to the main reservations who were unable to help. TL;DR If you are planning to return a one-way rental here, add a whole day to your time estimate to deal with the ludicrous set up and disorganisation of this location. The staff was very helpful (until 5pm) and were able to resolve a number of the issues, but there were so many I cannot give more than one star. I'm sure this location is fine if you have a small locker, and only want to store or pick up a carload at a time, but it is an absolute nightmare if you are actually trying to store anything of size (especially while returning a large truck from a one-way rental) The "loading dock" is a narrow strip that is barely wide enough for the undersize trollies they provide. The entrance to the building off this narrow strip is a tiny door that you will struggle to get any actual furniture through. I chose a 10x10 unit, which UHaul specifically advertises for "Housing apartment or small home for short term move" and can fit "King mattress set, refrigerator, washer/dryer and living room furniture set"; U-haul apparently thinks it makes sense to put this unit UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS. I called the day before arriving in town to get directions, and they didn't think it worthwhile to mention that the access from the main road was blocked by construction, and there was a long detour on a back road to get there. They said they had provided a lock already for the locker, and I paid, but there was no lock and I had to go back to the office twice to get one. They made me buy the lock even though I had my own which they said "wouldn't work" but I confirmed later that mine would have fit. There is very little room to maneuver a larger truck (e.g. 20") but one of the guys working there did pull it into the "loading dock" for us, but access and parking is still a huge pain, even if you are just coming by car. Because of the site access, and having to drag all my stuff up the stairs, I wasn't ready to return the truck until 5:02pm, but they had already locked the office door, and told me to checkout on-line. Of course, the online checkout system wasn't working (there was another person trying to return their van rental with the same issue).Maxwell H. | First Impressions

First of all we were directed by one of your staff members to back the truck against the ramp to make it easier to offload. When we exited the truck, he was way gone and there was about a 3 foot gap between the ramp and the truck. I am not sure if he expected us to throw the furniture from the truck to the ramp. There was no where to off load a 15foot truck with a ramp since UHAUL had all their trucks parked in the area I could have used. So we had to park at a distance and walk heavy furniture over. The people we paid to move never showed up. I just had surgery on my knee so my son had to offload an entire truck and walk heavy furniture over. I needed to consolidate storage since the bill surged to $500/month between three places during a move six weeks ago. Logistics would be complicated, but in desperation to at least clear the uBox used for the move and avoid re-delivery charges, I discovered that this uHaul location also offers storage lockers at surprisingly reasonable rates. Configuration is VERY important, especially if you only have boxes. The locker I got is 10x10x6, 600 cubic feet, all useable. Paid the same rate for 5x10x10 in North Vancouver but get this - since you can't really pile boxes that high without some sort of reinforcement, what I was really getting is 300 useable cubic feet. Big difference. Also, when I consolidate the rest of the storage, any overflow can go into a uBox already on-site on demand. Cuts my total bill in half for now, then Marie Kondo it down later. To sum up, the quality of the facility - heated, each locker is alarmed and equipped with a sprinkler - is very impressive. It was an emergency and we would have been left with a moving truck full of our things had the manager not worked fast to make sure I had a choice of two spaces when we arrived. Aftet driving 11 hrs we really didn't want to hear thst our reserved locker was not available & that was first come first served. Our $149 locker became a larger locker at $199. The lock that I took off my previous locker was unacceptable so we had to use a loaner with one key or purchase a new one with 2 keys. The locker had two locks on the floor from a previous renter. The operation in the warehouse was short staffed. The silver lining was because it was near closing time the staff processed the uhaul trailer return quickly near the cargo bay. I chose the locker because the Richmond uhaul office ran out out the size while processing my credit card. I chose the SE Marine Vancouver location because they had one available at a slightly higher price. I changed the trailer drop off location to SE Marine Drive. But was in shock when they told me that unit was not available . Too many rental trucks and trailers blocking driveways and loading docks. I would consistently not be able to access my storage unit because even the pedestrian zone at the bottom of the loading dock would have trailers parked so close together it was impossible to walk there. Too many vehicles blocking the road in front of the office. The area needs to be redesigned so there is enough space for vehicles to actually drive through the area. Hello, I emptied the storage on September 6th 2020. I brought my stuff to storage last year in July and I was told and assured that there are no mice or rats I the storage. When I empty the storage there was mice poop under the couch and table. This is disappointing. Why say something and not keep up with the commitment. However when I moved out your female manager treated me very disrespectfully .. we had just drove there all the way from prince George and we were exhausted and still had the massive task of moving everything out. The Uhaul website mentioned that the storage unit will be free for the first month. However, the exact conditions were not mentioned on the website nor were clarified when I spoke to a representative at the supposed location via phone. Secondly, the email sent to me about the reservation specified the store closing hours to be 7 pm. However, when I reached the Uhaul storage location, the location was closed by 5 pm. This caused a lot of delay in my moving plans and ended up costing more than it should for my Uhaul trip due to the extra kms driven.
