The truck was heavily used and in poor condition. Interior panels were loose and the radio did not function. Since I’m not sure if this is a Uhaul issue or location issue I will be using a different company all together in the future. Also, this location does not have a local phone number so every time you try to communicate with them you have to go through the automated uhaul line. Very frustrating.

Best most prompt service one could expect. I left the melrose office due to poor service and was so glad I did. U haul has an emergency contact line that requires a second number that I was not aware of and when I asked why the second number is needed I was told if I wanted to rent I had to provide it so I left, The guy on Salem turnpike asked for an emergency contact. Sometime context , good attitude and hustle matter

With out going into details, my experience was traumatic renting a Uhaul for a friends move.My situation and issues had nothing to do with the rental truck or Uhaul personnel. But I can say that the team at this location were the most customer service driven, and professional team in the Roanoke Valley. All of the team made my horrible situation bearable and less stressful. I would highly recommend this location to anyone interested in renting any product they sell. I will never use another location, and refer my friends here. I say thank you to the whole team and manager. Great job.

The truck was dirty in the cab. Could have been cleaned out a little. Also we had reserved an appliance dolly but was told they didnt have any when we picked up the truck. But I could pick up the dolly at another location. I'm sorry but there should have been one there. Or an employee should have gone to get it to ensure it was there when we arrived. Instead of me having to go out of my way to get one.

I was extremely pleased with the customer service and facilities of both the Hershberger Road and Salem Turnpike U-Hauls Wednesday, October 30, 2019. I previously had a unit, but closed it out, at Hershberger road. On short notice my brother and I found out we had to move our Mom out of her apartment with no previous reservations of a truck or storage unit. Hershberger units were full, but the Manager contacted Salem Turnpike, confirmed they had a truck and unit available, and let them know I'd be heading the 2.5 miles down the road to their location. The manager at Salem Turnpike was just as nice and accommodating. Had me on the road with a truck in no time, and my brother and I were gracious that the indoor climatized units had carts to ease the strain of moving all the boxes and heavy furniture. Thank you Hershberger and Salem Turnpike U-Hauls for making a not so pleasant moment/event more manageable for me and my brother.

I had to call to see if I could extend the reservation and spent more than 25 minutes on hold (total time), it would have been nice if I could have spoken with the person who handled the rental on location instead of being put through to the call center. That process needs to be more user friendly.

Ensure customers get what they reserved. I reserved and paid for an appliance dolly for my move and it wasn't provided. Had to call customer service during my move and arrange for a refund of my dolly rental fee. Very frustrating!!!

My pick up location kept changing without notice. I canceled and re booked many times. I had to arrive before i was told that Uhaul does not relocate equipment for customers.

Called ahead and dropped off after hours. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and gave me the location to leave the two pieces of equipment. I received an email by 9:00 am the next morning morning showing the equipment was checked in satisfactorily. This was an actual U-Haul Center with tons of equipment on the lot. All the equipment I was seeing looked to be in very good condition as was the nice new truck I was given for my trip. Was an excellent value and experience.

There needs to be more than one attendant. If the attendant is busy out back he closes the door and you have to wait outside for however long it takes for him to come back. Also your staff needs a lesson or in service in courtesy.

We had reserved a 10 ft truck for a long distance, one-way haul. However, despite having a truck on the lot, we were forced to accept a 15 ft truck, which is harder to manage and takes more fuel on an 800 mile trip. He was very rude and asked us to leave. We went to another center and they tried to find a 10 ft truck, saying they were surprised because the 10 ft truck at the other site was listed as available despite his saying that it had a bad tire. We went back and got the 15 ft truck. We had also contacted Penske who gave us a bid. However, someone from a UHaul regional office called us and offered a better deal than our original deal from Penske. Given the options that are available other than Penske and UHaul, we doubt that we will use UHaul again.

Asked for a 15 foot U-Haul with a dolly received a 10 foot instead no dolly and no ramp so I called U-Haul customer service and they told me to return to the U-Haul to switch out the truck when I get there they say they don't have anymore so I have to take the one offered and was still charged for extra mileage even though customer service requested that I go back and that it shouldn't be a problem

Was told gas was full, van was in good shape. The van had multiple warning lights and the gas tank was not full. I drove 34 miles, I filled approx. 2.4 gallons of gas to bring to same level, I was billed for additional gas, because the original report said full tank, which I did not complain about when I drove away with the van.

This location was awesome. When I called to let them know that we were running very late and would be arriving at our new home around midnight, the man also apologized for our trouble and told us where to unhitch the car transporter from the truck and he would take care of the return in the morning.
