They have been doing a lot of cleanup and fixing up of this facility, however, it still has a ways to go. We picked this site before we moved to Roanoke, if we had seen it before we would NOT have rented there. Once there we didn't want to have to move everything. Currently, the cars are gone, they have replaced the doors, and are working on the siding. They leave the old siding along the access roads and it blows into the street. They cut off the locks WITHOUT notice so they could add wring for camera. MAILED the key without a call or email to our OLD address so we never got it. We then to at our OWN expense and time CUT off the lock and put a new one on. I was told we would get a free month for our trouble... which never happened. I called about it and the lady said... sorry, I told my GM but he didn't do it I will do it for the next month... again never happened. Make sure that the pictures of what we are getting are correct when going thru the signing off of the outside of trucks. Mine all said nothing was wrong with any sides a truck. As I went thru each sides there were some buckling of the lower sides, which I sent the picture of each sides with the step by step procedure. The back was the only not messed up. And when getting/returning the truck/ equipment , both the renter and inspector should go thru it together. I was given the ok as my inspector went thru the bringing back stage and told done. Then received a call 30 minutes later stating that the truck I rented had some bad spots. I know, before i left I submitted the pictures and disapproved it.Sabrina H.

Kim is, to say the least, OUTSTANDING! I had lost a reservation and she made another one within 30 minutes. And due to not knowing how much furniture we had to store at the time, she upgraded our storage unit one size for free. This speaks loads to how accommodating U-Haul is with changing circumstances and limited funds. They didn't have a universal trailer light to hook up to my van so I could use a pull behind trailer so I had to pay 100.00 to use a box truck, plus the hook ups on my Ford explorer would have fit but they wouldn't let me use a 8 cylinder 4 wheel Dr to pull it they would rather me pull it with a 2008 dodge caravan. I reserved a car trailer at the Hershberger location and when I arrived I was told my reservation had been canceled but there were 2 car trailers outside the building. I was told they were already rented so I left. I managed to get what I needed at another location up the road and later that night when I drove by the Hershberger location the same 2 trailers were still sitting in the same place. Make sure to put the Utility Dolly in vechicle, when the customer orders it and needs it for their move! Caused my move to be delayed trying to find a Utility Dolly since one was not locked in the truck when I picked up And would have happened again when I rented from same place July 2nd 2021!! Unhappy Customer... thought maybe a mistake the 1st time but the 2nd time .. Fix your process or at least advise customer when they order for Pickup after hours !!!Ron D.
It wasn't necessarily this location, but the experience with Uhaul overall was poor. I had to call as my pick up date got closer, I never received a call to confirm if I had a truck. Then I was given very mixed information as to whether I was going to have a truck or not. Lucas from Lynchburg office was very helpful and made it so that I had a truck. However, picking up took a long amount of time and dropping it off was very poor. We did a drop off before hours because the truck was needed there at that time. It took 40 minutes to complete the process. The other thing that confuses me, is I was not guaranteed a truck until Saturday before my move (when I had complete an online request for it two weeks prior) yet once I finally did get a truck, I had to have it returned by a certain time for someone to have it on Monday. How did they get a confirmed time to pick it up and have it by when I was not provided that until the day before, and even when I did, I got mixed information as to if I would actually get a truck? Carryover of information, a more solid knowledge of if a truck will be available and knowing this information in a timely matter would help a great deal. Moving is stressful and to find out the day before that I might not get a truck was the last thing I wanted to find out and Uhaul did that. You should try harder to come up with an algorithm that can track the truck to know if someone will be able to reserve one for a certain time frame.JULIAPAMELA D.

I have ordered a truck from this location 2x in that past 2 months and both times they failed to put the equipment I requested into the truck. ( Utility Dolly) The 1st time , I had to spend time finding another location to get the missing Utility Dolly from, taking 2.5 hours out of my move day ! 2nd time: again NO Utility Dolly in the Truck , luckily I had changed the pick up time from 1030pm to 830pm & arrived around 810/815pm & there was someone inside , even though the door was already locked. I told asked him where is my Utility Dolly as per my order?? he stated they dont give them unless they are there. Why order one then , if you cant get it with your truck if you pick up after hours, they easily could have locked it inside the cab. The first one he gave me was broken, so I knocked on the door again & asked for one that was not broken . finally I got one that would work, but they whole mobile check out was thus delayed and 45mins later finally left the lotRONALD WILLIAM D.

I tried to call to let them know I would be late to pick up the truck and was on hold waiting for an answer for 22 minutes. June 9, 10:55 am ET. The truck cab leaked when driving in the eain. This storage facility advertised itself to be climate-controlled. It is not. My items were ruined by mold, insects and mice. I was disappointed with the fact that the light in the hallway was interoperable as well as there being no light in the unit itself so that you can see where you are putting things (so that you can do it efficiently).
