U-haul cancelled my first reservation due to equipment issues and I had to delay and reschedule my furniture delivery by a week.William S.
Boxes arrived 2 weeks early. A good thing. All items arrived in fine condition. Shortage or high demand for ubox trailers complicated pickup. Had to rent a truck to transfer goods to home. Had to wait 30 to 40 minutes while staff moved my Ubox to a accessible location, they knew when I was arriving. This could have been a staffing issue. If you have the time and energy using U Boxes is a very good way to move nationwide.Paul L.

I understand I was a exactly 1.5 hours late from my requested 48 hour rental. I was penalized a 2 day extra charge (4) rental days total for my 49.5 hour rental. Unexpected things happen. I had an Emegency and happened to be 1.5 hours late. And was charge $110 for it.StÃ©phane G.

Come out to greet returning clients (even if after 5PM). Fully automate check-in. After providing driver license info (front and back photo) and credit card info, all the counter person should need to do is verify customer ID. We've used UBox multiple times and they NEVER close correctly. It takes a great deal of effort and people to close the door, and yes, we made sure it wasn't over-packed and nothing was obstructing the door or the area near the door. Even when empty, it was difficult to close and secure the door. It was also a huge pain that Kona UHual doesn't deliver to Hilo without charging an arm and a leg, or that we could not do a one-way trip. Had we known this beforehand, we would've gone with someone else. Would not recommend UBox to anyone, and definitely would not use UBox shipment again. For as expensive as a UBox is, it should be sturdier and easier to close. Please convert to metal or something other than wood that falls apart. The first time we used a UBox, it damaged our goods because the sides were splitting apart during shipment and someone drilled it back together and drilled right through our property. I sent a complaint and no one responded. Does anyone read these?sanjana K.

I reserved a vehicle with the drop off location being in Hilo and pickup in Kona. Thank goodness I double checked as the drop off location was reassigned because â€œcorporateâ€ owned locations and â€œnon-corporateâ€ uhaul location can't intermingle. I have done drop offs like this before with no problem and it sounds like there was an issue keeping vehicles on that side of the island. I drove 4 miles to be charged $25. Waste of time and left me extremely frustrated with no resolution.Ryan D.

The check engine light came on after only 20 miles and the customer service sucked they were rude and not helpful at all. I went to the hilo location 50miles away just to get a different truck rental because I didn't wanna deal with the people at the kona location! Don't recommend going thereTyler A.

This is the only option on the Big Island of Hawaii. Paying for the mileage to drive all the way to Hilo and back is painful. It added roughly an extra $100 each way to the advertised price. Please take this into consideration when determining whether or not to reopen one of the locations on the other side of the Island.Amy E.

Manager Cerese was very rude calling me and demanding the truck to be returned. I kept trying to explain to her what I said and she kept raising her voice and giving me rude remarks that I should return it. The only problem I had was I was told my credit card was on file so they would take payment out if I didn’t come in to pay. I came to my storage unit a week later to find a lock on the door. They said I didn’t sign up for auto pay but I had clarified this with the man twice. I decided, moving forward, to pay for two months at a time. I didn’t care for the 15.00 late charge but paid it anyway. People always friendly and helpful. Just a misunderstanding. Thanks.Susan H. | Overall Experience

I planned on having a unit to hold my stuff while I moved into a smaller space, I anticipated staying in there for at least 3 months. Finding a unit was easy because I called ahead and was helped by a wonderful customer service rep. who got me the last one available the very same day. I ended up getting plenty help from my family and was able to move out after the first month (which was FREE by the way) so it didn’t cost me anything! My experience using this storage facility was amazing until move-out when I was told that the full month that had been automatically charged a few days prior would not be refunded or prorated back to me. I was charged $167.40 for only 5 days which is ridiculous, especially during a pandemic where I lost my job. The man working the desk seemed not clear on the refund or cancellation policies.
