The woman who served me when I arrived had problems processing my rental despite me giving her my reservation number and all details about my vehicle, etc. She was obviously too inexperienced and she was only processing a basic open trailer rental. It took her over 30 minutes to process my rental and had to contact a more senior staff member who determined the problem and corrected the problem in only about a minute.RonaldCraig E.

Reserved a moving van from 10:00am -4:00pm, arrived 10 minutes before pickup and waited in line for 1 1/2 hours before getting the vehicle. The uhaul app actually sent me a text as I arrived at the house that I was moving from to remind me the rental was due back at 4:00pm!! Pretty cheeky since it was 1 1/2 hours late getting to me! Staff was lethargic and did not seem too have any urgency, lots of strolling around... even at drop off (I was early) with with no one else in line it took 30 minutes to get checked back in! Absolutely terrible customer service, I have used uhaul in the past from other locations and service was always prompt and attentive. DO NOT recommend this location unless you're desparate!Jeff B.

Pickup truck was dirty inside, food scraps and wrappers on the floor and in door pockets, and the interior had obviously not been sanitized between rentals (COVID precautions). When returning the truck the attendant tried to tell me that it left with 15/16 tank of gas and tried to bill me for returning it with 1/4 tank as specified in the rental agreement. When I confronted him, he said that his record indicated an almost full tank when I picked it up, and asked If I had a picture of the gauge showing 1/4 tank. I refused to pay an additional charge because U-Haul's policy is to have vehicles returned with 1/4 tank, so it was 1/4 when I picked it up. I drove under 60km, and there's no way that would have used almost 3/4 of a tank in an F-150. The whole outlet seemed understaffed and disorganized. I will not rent from that centre again.Joel A.

This was the worst Uhaul experience from start to finish. Showed up at opening on Sunday to a line up outside of the centre because staff was 15 minutes late. Waited for 45 minutes to get my truck, which I reserved 1.5 weeks before. Luckily there was one truck left but the staff told me had there not been a truck, I would have had to go somewhere else despite my reservation. Ummm? A staff hit a customer's car in the car park and apparently tried to walk away without taking accountability, and then was complaining about the customer whose car they hit to a customer... the parking lot was a disaster and took me another 15 minutes to get out of. The mirror on the righthand side wasn't movable so turning into the right lane was like wishing on a prayer that no one was in that lane. I returned the truck after close as indicated on my reservation and the website would not work, so I had to go into the centre a few days later as I hadn't received a refund from my deposit which I was owed. When I went into the centre, it took 40 minutes to receive a refund because their terminals kept freezing. Honestly the whole thing was a chaotic mess. They need to figure their shit out. I imagine working there is stressful AF because of the ridiculous organization of this location.Chelsey H.

My pick up location was changed from Calgary to Cochrane which became very inconvenient. I cancelled that and rebooked a different pick up location for the same trailer in Calgary. Why wasn't this what happened? It makes no sense to me and having to call in and the agent hung up on me when she was transferring the call but then never called me back. So again I had to wait on hold. Frustrating experience but overall.Faye S.
This location was a disaster except one employee Tasha and along senior gentleman with longer hair. Many of the employees are juniors and could not care less. When I arrived there was line up of people ahead of me waiting. The gentlemen ahead of me had 15 ft vehicle reserved but when he got to the counter the employee simply told him that there was no vehicle available for him, even though he had a reservation, because the previous renter had not returned the vehicle. Instead of trying to problem solve the employee simply said there was nothing he could do. The gentle continued to ask more questions such as, is there another size vehicle we can rent or can we go to another location? The employee simply responded no, and did not provide any customer service and try to problem solve. Eventually, Tasha a more senior employee and another senior employee (gentleman) stepped in and made some calls and eventually arranged a 26 downtown truck for the gentleman. When it was my turn to be served I was told there was no vehicle available even though I had a reservation. Eventually Tasha arranged a vehicle for me from their overflow parking, but I had to wait at UHaul for 1 hour. When I eventually got the vehicle, the location did not have any of the equipment I had requested on my online order (2 dollys). While I was waiting I witnessed several other people be told that there was no vehicle available to them although they had a reservation. It was actually quite uncomfortable to even witness the lack of customer service and empathy employees showed to customer. Many customers were renting a truck because it was end of month and needed to move out of their apartments or houses. To be told on the day of there is no vehicle available to you is very stressful and frustrating. Other general comments, staff were on their phones while serving customers and also laughing and joking with each other while in the process of telling customers that there were no vehicles available. Really I feel for the employees for a few reasons, 1) they probably aren't trained in customer service and 2) Uhaul booking service is absolute garbage and it leaves the employees in very awkward situations having to deliver bad news to customers. I understand that the employees do not make the bookings so it isn't their fault but they could show better customer service. Once I returned the vehicle I had some issues with the fuel credit but Tasha saved the day again. Tasha and another senior employee did seem to actually care about their jobs and were professional and great customer service. Those 2 employees I would give 5 stars to if I could. I hope I am getting the name correct but it is a female employee with dark reddish hair, I believe her name was Tasha.Jeremy B.

Honestly I was overall very pleased. My one very strong suggestion would be to change the policy about returning the vehicle with one quarter gas left. What an utter silly policy. You're essentially always passing on the inconvenience to the next customer. I would suggest you be like pretty much every other company involving rentals and return it with a full tank of gas. Easy to gauge, dummy proof, and your next client / customer will always be satisfied and not inconvened as they can just get rolling.Brad T.

Equipment I reserved was not available due to a wiring issue upon pick up.. Offered a smaller trailer @ the same rate with no offer of reduction. More trips were required which means more fuel costs. Negative star rating only due to the fact that it is a new facility, and the staff are still in training. That said there was no manager present and so the staff had to call for help several times to get the rental done. We were told that due to limited space available we weren’t able to get the first month free promotion, however when we were taken to our unit they are almost all empty and not rented. We wanted 24 hour access and were told it’s not possible because the key cards aren’t working?? The vehicle pick-up process was atrocious. I arrived at 8:55AM for a 9:00AM rental time, and there were 6 people ahead of me in line a few of whom commented that they had been waiting for 30+ minutes. I proceeded to wait in line for over 45 minutes. Staff were disorganized and inefficient, constantly running in and out of the building. When I finally received the keys to the truck at 9:45, I found that the truck they rented me was not in the location they described and in fact it was double parked by two other trucks. I had to go back in and have the staff find a way to move the two other trucks which undoubtedly held up the long line that had grown substantially behind me. While I'm empathetic to short staffing situations, Uhaul staff need to be better trained on efficient ways to handle high volumes of customers. I will note that the return process by comparison was very efficient.Matthew L.

Returned Truck on a Monday. Was contacted Thursday by an employee stating that if I did not return the truck (the truck being the one I had returned on monday) within the next 2 hours. There were only 2 people working the front desk on a Saturday morning. The line was 8 people deep and for 20 mins there was nobody at the front desk. Lastly, the lot itself is terrible for parking, hooking up trailers, etc as one way and there is equipment and vans blocking the way in and the way out.Joel T.

1 1/2 hour wait for a reserved truck and trailer. the lone person who managed to show up for work was overwhelmed by the volume of people wanting vehicles. She was amazing!!!! Checking in returns, answering phones, finding vehicles on the lot, and hooking up trailers.As well as dealing with approx. 10 customers. I did not get her name but she was on shift Sun. Mar. 27 AM. She did this with a very professional manor. Improve... more staff for month end weekends, wash trucks exterior. I had to wash windows and mirrors. Fix the heat in the office...almost unbearable. First and most important, the staff, when they here're available, were courteous and helpful. But the location was certainly understaffed! I booked a van on March 26 to move some furniture. When I completed the contract with the staff at the deerfoot location, I was instructed that I would use my phone and an online system to acknowledge and dispute the condition of the van. Initially, the website was working as I began to collect photos to show the condition of the van. In contrast to the photos provided of the vehicle, it was dirty, with extensive dust and mud on the exterior, the roof was dented, the windshield cracked, a dent in the interior, and materials still left inside from the previous renter (a pillow and a piece of lumber). The mileage was also incorrect - where the contract showed 24998 km, the van was actually at 25021 km. While I was attempting to complete this report, the webpage would no longer accept additional photos. I attempted to reload and restart the page multiple times, but was not able to complete the form. One error I received was that I was not â€˜allowed' to report a difference in mileage and I would have to seek assistance with the service representative. At this point, I sought some assistance from the staff and they were not able to help me with the completion of the damage and condition report, but did offer to replace the van with an alternative one when I described the condition of the van and the incorrect mileage. They completed a change of vehicle form and provided a new key. This vehicle appeared to be without any noticeable damage and the mileage was correct within 1 km. There was no opportunity to complete the damage report again - I did not receive a link and the staff person suggested I simply take photos with my phone of any damage to be reported. I returned the vehicle at 7:06 pm and when I entered the store and spoke with the same staff person at the desk, she informed me that they had actually closed at 7pm and I should just leave the key with her and the staff would complete the return in the morning. After returning to my own vehicle, which I had parked at the location, I attempted to complete the online checkout system at uhaul.com/share, however there was not any option to complete the rental (image of website attached). At this point, I called the 1-800 number for assistance; I was advised that the wait time was approximately 45 minutes, so I stayed connected and drove home. The service representative on the phone, once I made a connection, advised me that the staff at the location would complete the checkout. I was concerned about the $20 service fee, which would not be appropriate to charge, since I made every attempt to complete the reservation myself. At 9:10 AM the next day, I called the location to ensure that the checkout was completed and arrange for my final receipt and payment, I was asked to â€˜hold'. After being on hold for over 1.5 hours(!!), I gave up and tried again later. Each time I tried again (during the location's business hours, my call was automatically forwarded to the general 1-800 number. Eventually, after waiting for another 2 hours, I was able to have an overnight charge reversed. This experience has convinced me that U-haul, while perhaps among the more inexpensive choices, is not a reasonable choice. Requiring the customer to correct so many problems with a vehicle through an online system that is not reliable, rather than with a representative who is actually on site, a check-out service which is not available online, and being expected to stay on hold for hours, who would choose U-Haul again? I rented a Uhaul last winter and it was nothing like this. No online forms, no nonsense. I will not consider U haul again.David B.

This store is very convenient for me but some of the staff are very incompetent in my opinion. I've had many inconvenient situations with the same people I refer to. That being said, there are some great people who work there also.
