I rented a 5 X 5 unit, then immediately upgraded to the next size (5 X 10). This process was easy. My first visit was very good. The associate was super friendly, fast and totally helpful. My second visit to upgrade went very well (associate helpful) but the second unit that I was upgrading to had floors that were dusty/dirty and riddled with rat/mouse poop. Also the floors by the lighting fixtures (corners) had a lot of dead insects. Also there are not enough carts available.Enrique R. | First Impressions
My experience here was so good!!!! I haven’t seen Costumer Service like this in a very Long Tine. First thing first I just moved her to Albuquerque from Michigan 4 days ago. The place where I actually had to drop my Uhaul at did not have any storage space, so I came across 1801 Atrisco Dr and I meet Joseph!!! He is wonderful!!! First he was so welcoming to us being newbies here in Albuquerque. And he was even able to let us check our truck in at this location. When he showed us our storage space he was very thorough. He also gave the customers in front of us that same treatment so I know he does it with everyone. The next day he was even more helpful along with his coworker Isiah. Because my contract involved a number of different facilities in a move to another state, there wasn't good communication regarding different aspects of the process. Different sites gave conflicting info. Despite giving a credit card that appeared on line I was unable to make payments at different points in the process. This was the biggest headache. The local service was wonderful. The employees at this location were very helpful. I did however have some trouble with your call center. I called to find out if I could get an extension of one hour on my rental and was told by customer service representative Ryan that in order to get an extra hour I would have to pay for a full 24 hours. I called back to try and file a complaint and was told by the representative on that call that there is a one hour grace period. Also when I returned the equipment the employees at the local pickup told me that I could have kept the rental on an extension until tomorrow morning for free. According to Ryan that was not the case I was told that they would have to charge me for another 24 hours he didn't say anything about the grace period he basically kind of blew me off and said that's just how we do it. Needless to say everyone else that I talked to was also very surprised. I won't let this sour me to using U-Haul but I think that somebody needs to know that maybe your call center employees could use a little bit of extra training.PABLITA G.

I rented a storage online and when I got there the storage was too small so I asked for larger storage which they were able to give me. I asked them to close the small one online. After moving out they told me I had to storages. They never close the smaller storage and charge me for it. One of the employees that had owner on their badge said that he would not reimburse me for the smaller storage even though it was never open the tag was still on the door. I was pretty upset about it. It was an employee mistake and they're making me pay for it. That is why I am very unhappy with the service I got from this so-called owner manager. All of their employees in your facility were really great. One suggestion is the alarm keeps going off every time somebody opens their storage. This is very annoying no one cares That the alarm is going off because it goes off constantly so people just ignore it. You might want to do some thing about it because it is very annoying to hear this go off all day long. Thank the other employees for a good service and your storages are very nice. Staff wasn't friendly. Seems to be the norm at uhauls different locations. The truck I rented was dirty and had some damage. When I pointed it out ,the employee mumbled something . After I left with the rental , I received a message about checking the truck before I leave. Bit I was already on the road. Perhaps this was what the employee said ?? But at the end , I was happy with the equipment. But not the staff. They always seem like they're in a bad mood.RICHARD S.

Set expectations on information needed at point of sale. I visited 4 locations on Saturday and 3 on Sunday all to find out that my reservation was not at the disclosed location nor did I have my credit card to put on file. There are only two recommendations: 1. one of the wooden U-boxes had a small leak in the roof, nothing was seriously damaged. I let Jennifer (the person who picked up the empty U-boxes know). The plastic cover on the roof of the box had some damage which is where the water entered the box. 2. It was difficult to contact the Burlington, Vt. office (originating office) on their direct line. If they did not answer the call, I was transferred to a call center. The Burlington Office gave me a cell phone number that I could use and that helped. I would leave a message and the call was returned promptly. HOWEVER, when I tried calling to initiate the shipping of the U-boxes, the cell phone would not accept messages due to a FULL VOICE MESSAGE mailbox. Employees should delete the old phone messages. Last time I used uhaul was July 2020 had no problems renting a truck with my DX card issued to my by the federal govt for my retirement benefits to be monthly deposited . I thought all locations were managed within the same boundaries ; however I have learned this is not the case. When I went online to reserve a truck I used the same process I used the last time I used uhaul got the same prompts saying that I couldn't use my DX card to rent the van but I was able to rent a small truck with my DX card. This time I reserved the truck ,went on the day of pickup and without running my card my form of payment was denied . So for the first time in over 30 years I left without getting the truck . When I got home I called my Son's widow my failure to getting the truck because of their "NEW" rental requirements she had to call a friend to pick her up to bring her to U-Haul to pay for the rental . The bottom line is this uhaul should have plainly stated all the requirements needed to rent U-Haul equipment on the U-Haul home page and not have a runaround !!! I had no problem reserving the truck with my DXCard but it was denied as payment . What kind of run-around is that.Stephen L. | First Impressions

We arrived at the storage facility a few minutes before 9 am as we had scheduled movers to come at 9 to help us move the contents of an apartment. We were not able to enter with our access card. There was another man who had been waiting there since 7 am also, unable to enter. When that man saw an employee, he asked to let him in. The employee yelled back from the parking lot " just swipe your card" when the man responded that he had, the employee said "you probably didn't pay". At that point I said,"I can't get in either", to which he yelled "did you pay?' I said yes, to which he said sorry I have to move these trucks, you're just going to have to wait. When my movers arrived, I again implored him to open the facility, since the movers were paid by the minute. The employee then did open the main door, and said if you open your unit it's going to alarm, and I can't deal with it until later. We moved out our things, and when we were getting close to the end, I went to the front office and joined a long line of customers, and when I arrived at the service counter, I asked to close the account. The same employee asked if I was finished moving everything, and when I responded we are almost done, He said you can't close it until you are completely finished. I asked "would I have to wait in line again while my movers stand by waiting?" He said, yes. The fact that your storage facility is supposed to open at 5 am according to the sign, but didn't open until after 9am, and the rude unhelpful behavior of the staff is why I'm giving a poor rating.Andrew K. | Overall Experience

We were promised access to our unit but the Uhaul facility was not properly working and there was no access to get in. There were about 15 trucks outside. I called Erik, the general manager, and was very disappointed with his customer service. He denied helping all of us get access and said that we could come back tomorrow if we wanted. Some people had to leave because they had to return their rental trucks. We were outside of the building for about 2 hours calling customer service and trying to figure everything out until the manager finally decided to show up and open a door for everyone. We had to fit our very large furniture through a normal sized door... It was a complete nightmare. I was promised a month free and told that is what will happen. I can’t get my items into the place because off all the piles of pallets in the way. So I left and went back after closing and some decent rest. But pallets were still there and the big door wouldn’t open. I hope I am not charged another day for my truck. But the service was great. I have used uhaul for the past 30 years for local moves and the service and equipment has always been great. This time i moved across the country. The associates were outstanding at both pickup and dropoff locations and the staff at the dropoff and storage were simply amazing. They were so very polite and helpful. The epuipment was A1 top of the line. This experience solidifies uhaul as the best in my rankings as i have used other services when helping someone else move. Uhaul is the best. I highly recommend that if you need to move or just move something, Uhaul is the way to go. I would also like to thank Jerry at the storage facility for his help and expertise. The day I picked up the key was The worst I thought I would never experience. I had already been there for an hour waiting for the phone to be answered by a customer service representative and finally when I had to lie and say that I was in an accident or something and got a hold of someone he could not even figure it out and the whole process took me three hours and I did not get to move that night I’ll start my move which I really need to do because the next day was more like the worst day having to run around back-and-forth between the three jobs that I have been trying to get everything moved out so I don’t have to pay more than one days dues and now You’re telling me $96 is what I owe and that is way too much if you don’t want to be free for me after what I had to go throughMikal c. | First Impressions

We secured the rental online. When we got there the unit number wasn’t working with the alarm system. We Ended up having to go into the office and get assigned a new unit. The large double sliding doors do not work with our code only the single door, which makes it difficult to use any type of moving device such as a dolly, or cart or mover anything large through the single door. The 3 day we went to the rental there was a tag in the unit which said we were denied access due to non payment. Obviously that wasn’t correct as we had just secured the unit with a full months payment 3 days before. Again Had to go to the office to gain access to our unit. Only then we’re we told that we had to use the provided lock, not a personal lock which we had placed in the unit. The security seems good, but hoping we have no more problems and it would be nice if the double sliding doors would open with our code.Joseph R. | Online Move In

Both Silas and Jonathan(spelling?) were doing their very heat to make the process as easy as possible for us while we were driving in from out of state. I bit understaffed. Took awhile of waiting for assistance and then, guy explained some things , spoke really fast, completed paperwork and took off. I didn’t understand if I was supposed to follow him or not, norbabout the alarm and had to kind of figure out the process on my own. Been a really long time since I had used a self storage and would have appreciated a little extra courtesy. Otherwise, I would rate average.
