I am an elderly woman. I don't feel well served with younger people tell me to open this app and it's really easy. I am not knowledgeable and become flustered. Nothing went wrong at the 28th street location, but we originally had a uhaul set at the Grand Rapids location downtown. When we arrived there was a group of people all waiting outside as no one had shown up to work that day. Someone was on the phone with the scheduling manager and he had no idea what was going on and no one heard if anyone was even on their way. We called in and got a truck rescheduled, not for the truck we wanted but a bigger one and lost a lot of time needing to reschedule and drive all the way over to the new location to get our truck.Annica S.

I waited in the lobby for 45 minutes before finding an associate. It was the GM of the 28th st se location. She didn't even bother to apologize for the wait. Just asked if I had a reservation and said that she was out cleaning trucks, even though I walked around the building twice and saw no one. Also tried to call from the lobby. I used this same location for a truck rental and when I went to pick up my truck, it was blocked between 2 other trucks rather than being accessible. My reservation had been in place for several weeks. The location staff is less than helpful and seems to be inconvenienced by needing to assist customers. Many times, I have come into this location and had to wait for 10 minutes or more for an employee to come to the desk and assist. While I do understand that short-staffing is an ongoing issue recently, I have experienced this same type of treatment from this location on other occasions (prior to COVID) as well.Jennifer M. | First Impressions

i was called by this location 2 days before stating that i would get a larger truck at no charge due to equipment shortage. I was told to come to the actual uhaul not the equipment remote pick up. Upon arrival the clerk could not find my reservation and when presented with reservation she chose NOT to enter the reservation number but look at original pickup location and redirect us, Of course we did not find our truck there and returned. She then told us no equipment was available for 3 hours and it was across town. I insisted on talking with manager who promptly found my equipment in THE LOT just where is was supposed to be. Next, there was no pictures of truck condition to check and clear my truck so we had to re enter the que again to clear this up WHAT A DISASTER. I will follow my friends advice and use another company in future.joel D.

We reserved a Uhaul and a storage unit with this location. When we arrived, they told us that they must have â€œover bookedâ€ because they didn't have the storage size that we reserved. I asked if there was anything else available and they told me no, only a smaller unit that was up the stairsâ€¦.Not having the storage unit on time made our moving experience so stressful. Everything got pushed back to the next day due to the manager not being available until then. Thankfully someone helped us the next day and was able to find a bigger unit size and didn't charge us anything extra to have a bigger unit, but I honestly feel like we should have gotten 1 month free. The staff were overall nonchalant. They handled everything like it wasn't a big deal and seemed like they really didn't know what they were doing all together. It seemed like they were just going through the motions versus problem solving for the customer. I understand things go wrong, but that's when your customer service skills are suppose to kick in to gearâ€¦ but it didn't.Cache A.

On a Saturday only one person at the counter. 7 people lined up. Also the truck had been smoked in. Was not pleasant. The girl told me it had 3/8 of a tank of gas. It was a 1/8 lower i took a picture. They said i was 3 gallons short but i put it back where it was, not happy to be told it was at one mark when it wasn't. Also when I reserved the truck it was 10.00 for a appliance cart but when i picked it i was charged 15.00. Not the best of things to deal with.Brad D.

The "Service Tire Pressure System" light was on and the attendants tried to correct the problem but couldn't and told me the tires were fine. Pressure for rear tires should be about 75 PSI and and when first tested, the Driver Side Rear was at 60 PSI. U-Haul should not have let me rent a truck and drive off the lot with a tire in that condition. Fortunately, my use for the truck was limited to a very short move but a customer should not have to deal with that type of stress during an already stressful situation. Earlier this year, I had a good experience with this location but this time I leave questioning U-Haul's safety checks. For this experience, U-Haul put me in a potentially dangerous situation. And due to demand, my only alternative was to replace my 10-foot rental with a 26-foot truck. Really?Thomas S.

For starters, I moved on 10/26. There's no reason for charges to come out 1 week later (because someone didn't know how to do their job). Secondly, the lady with the shave head needs more training since she messed up my account and absolutely doesn't know what she was doing the 3 times I interacted with her. How do you change someone's name on their own account to someone else's name? Why did she tell me my storage was canceled, and I find out the next day that it never was, couldn't call to cancel it myself because she changed the name on the account without me asking or telling her to (so "legally" it wasn't my account), had to wait over 1 week for the manager to approve my online move out request that should've already been canceled like the lady said it was. I don't care to say much more outside of my entire experience being below poor. I would never use the uhaul on Eastbrook, and training should be a main priority for the new staff there and any prospective new staff! The staff was friendly but not helpful. Kayla Hawley was super helpful. My only issue was that we were given, at first, a unit on the second floor but was not told on the website that this facility doesn't have an elevator. To begin we were guaranteed a 20ft truck (the only size that would work for moving to a new state) at a specific location nearby. The day before pick-up we were contacted and told that truck size doesn't exist at the guaranteed location and we could drive to a further location for a 15 ft truck (way too small!) They should've delivered the truck to our location instead of making us drive 3 hours round trip, taking 3 hours out of a workday and losing us that part of a days paycheck and wasting our time and stress. Once we got the truck unloaded and headed to the storage unit we'd pre-registered and that was included free with our one way truck rental, the trouble and headaches kept coming. We were originally given a 10x5 at another facility, but when we got to the unit, it's actual measurements were 5x5, even the worker said that happens, that U-Haul's dimension of storage spaces don't always match the dimensions they advertise them as, he measured it for us for confirmation. We had to call customer service (plus 15 minutes of in hold time) to locate another facility with the size we needed because the store was unable to look it up or call them. We had no way of double-checking with the new facility whether they actually had the unit available in that size, and the worker at the one we were at wasn't able to for us (ridiculous they can't call another store locally to check!). We had to blindly drive to the new facility. Upon arrival, check-in was smoothish. The young man wasn't thorough and missed some things we had to correct for him. Then he sent us to our unit and forgot to come unlock our unit for us so we had to go remind them we were there 30 minutes later to which the guy said he'd forgotten we were there. He didn't warn us of the sticky trap on the floor of the unit or point it out at all so I accidentally stepped on it moving something into the unit and ruined the bottoms of good running shoes. All of this made us late for our rented truck drop off time, and lower on fuel for drop off than we were supposed to be, we wouldn't have been if this hadn't all been wrong. Not only was this a drain on finite fossil fuel resources, it was a waste if our time, adding an additional hour of driving around for U-Haul's mistake. This all also made us so late that we missed a ticketed event and were unable to get a refund. Very dissatisfied with the company and the customer service as a whole for wasting at least 5 hours of our time, energy, and emotions.Heather P. | First Impressions
