My first trailer was cancelled because the brake lights didn't work, I went to another location and was charged for a utility dolly when I did not get one. I tried to dispute the charge and got no correspondence, received my receipt in my inbox the next day. I will be contacting customer support and I would like this refunded promptly. Always short-staffed. with incredible wait times (up to an hour), any time of day, whether to buy 5 boxes or set up a $1000-plus rental. Suggest a) segregate rental buyers from product-only buyers, and b) pay more, to get more staff! If you care enough about your service levels to ask for feedback, pay attention to what you get back. Your wait times are insulting to customers, bad for business, and foolish. Your app to take photos of damage is inadequate. Using my iPhone 7, it simply vanished from my screen when I was almost done. The office reinstated it, and the same thing happened. I went back to the office and an unfriendly staff person said "just take photos with your phone - it will date-stamp them." I tried the online checkin which was great overall but when it came to finding the truck, I had to go through 15 â€œI can't find my truckâ€ clicks to bring me to one that was finally in the lot and only after I had an assistant track it down in the return section. There were a few other people walking around the lot having the same problem. Love the concept but the functionality is still needing some work so it actually knows what trucks are on the lotDanielle V.

Prioritize the customer over your own profits. Put in an ounce of effort to meet expectations. Don't threaten customers with violent communication. I had a 10AM reservation. I had to wait in line for over an hour. Then when I asked for my return window to be adjusted accordingly, I was told that if I was late, I would be charged a fee and held responsible for Uhaul's delayed reservations. Like that was my fault. They also threatened to cancel my reservation. I reserved an appliance dolly, but was told they don't do that. I was relying on that for my move. Don't offer it if it's not available. One of the staff couldn't read the persons credit card and asked the customer to read it to them. I heard the whole thing. Not secure. Not fast. Get it together. You could start by making sure your customer service agents, front desk staff, and management are on the same page with your policies. Probably a good checklist of safety measures and video of how to install and de-install a trailer. Staff was very helpful but they sold me the wrong hitch type which was quickly rectified.Jasvinder D.
The remote return process (through the website and the application) was terrible. And the phone support non-existent! I arrived at the location to return the trailer at 7:00, The employee communicated that it was closing time and that they were not interested in helping me with the return. So, I started the return process listed in the brochure. I was unable to complete the process, because the site would not continue past the picture of the clean trailer, even though I took it as shown in the example. So, then I tried to follow the instructions on unhooking the trailer. It referenced a jack. There was no jack on this trailer. So, I tried to lift it myself, and it was too heavy for me. I called the phone number on the brochure and was then on hold for over an hour, and then was disconnected!!!! I finally had to call my son to come and help me. While some of the smaller trailers do not need jacks, this one was big enough to need a braking system. It sure is heavy enough to warrant a jack, or at least some documentation and communication that you will need another person to unhook the trailer. This is a TERRIBLE process and the fact that you would charge me for not returning the trailer when your own process didn't work is absolutely frustrating. This will definitely influence my choice in choosing U-Haul in the future. It will not be my first choice.Jeff H.

The checkout process took longer than expected. My rental was blocked in by another truck so I had to go back in and wait again to get someone to move the other vehicle then had to back my rental out with a closed mirror because otherwise it would hit the vehicles on either side. I used the mobile check in this time. When I found the first truck and went through the entire check in process, the truck was blocked in by 3 other trucks I could not access it. I went inside and had to start the rental process ALL over again! After that painful endeavor, I went out to a truck - and the miles on the odometer were 20,000 miles higher than what was on the paperwork! I can't imagine what would have happened if I took it and came back to a $25,000 mileage charge! So we tried for a third truck. After another insanely painful experience of checking in and uploading my drivers license, the third truck REEKED of cigarette smoke like someone smoked a pack in there that morning. I walked back into the store and the cashier yelled â€œwhat now!?â€ We finally sorted out a forth truck that was in such bad shape I swear it was going to fall apart on the highway. The wind noise would have been quieter if I just took the windshield off. I guess I don't have many choices when renting a moving truck, but I can't imagine many worse rental experiences I've had in my life. With the labor market as tight as it gets, I guess this is the best Uhaul can do in terms of hiring workersâ€¦.and you get what you pay for.Chris M.

I had to unload my rental trailer into a new storage unit, and then return the trailer. Signage for where to do these separate things was clear, but I was confused about where to pull up at first to get checked in - no clear waiting area to park in if you're towing. Check-in felt rushed, making it difficult to problem solve and ask for clarification about procedure. My reservation didn't come up on the computer immediately, and the person at the counter tried to shuffle me off to the side instead of problem solving, and they seemed skeptical that I even had a reservation, even though I was showing them a print out and my e-mail confirmation. Overall, checkin was stressful and unpleasant. There are a lot of things to remember when first checking in to a storage space, and I managed to set off the (very loud) alarm on my first try - lucky for me the cleaning lady was there to help me figure things out. I was told at checkin that there would be a brand new padlock waiting for me in the unit, but there was not. The main office had been so stressful, I didn't want to go back down and figure out the lock situation, so I used the lock from my trailer instead. I was also supposed to get the first month of my unit rental free, according to my online booking, but my account was charged right after checking in. Returning the trailer was the easiest part - I just pulled up to the clearly marked area under a shaded carport, and the employee got me unhitched and checked out in under five minutes. This facility is big and offers a lot of services, so I understand that it's probably a lot to manage. I'm unfamiliar with navigating this city, and relatively new to hauling a trailer, so I assume some of my stress was from those factors. I just hope that managing my storage unit in the future is a more pleasant experience.Aaron P.
The truck had a full tank of gas and I tried putting more gas but it spit out at me. They said the truck had less than full and charged me $10.50 for 2gallons of gas. The truck was checked back in at full tank. Then I was 25 mins late because of the paid U-Haul movers and getting gas and U-Haul charged me double booking. This was a very frustrating experience as I took me more than an hour to submit the return. After I submitted the return I never got any email confirmation that my return was complete. The facility was ok, but the staff were honestly incompetent and rude. Jessica was rude to me a few times when I was checking in, and she got me set up at the wrong storage unit. That wasted about an hour of my movers time that they could have spent unloading my truck. And the older lady was not very helpful, either. I went over there to check out, and it looked like she was busy. So I waited for her to finish. I couldn't help but notice it was taking awhile for her to wrap up what I thought she was doing on the computer. Turns out, she was dorking around on her cell phone and was completely oblivious to the fact that a customer was waiting on her. First I can from Ohio they out the wrong hitch onto my truck then they messed up my whole reservation got here for charged for locks twice bcuz my original storage space they didn't honor so I ended up with two small storage spaces which all of my things didn't fit in them then I was told that all of my reservations were the same for here and the drop off was for another part of Texas nobody knows about then was told I had to pay $250 not bcuz if some mistake I made but from the original person who completed the the paperwork did what they wanted and told us it would be changed by the time we arrived but I wasn't. So in short the hitch wrecked my truck, my storage space wasn't what I was given and had to pay for two separate locks because of it, then the drop off and storage was in the same place but when we got here Ohio didn't correct the mistake and so now I have to pay for something that wasn't my fault and the clerks inside the store were very rude and acted as if we robbed them of fees when I paid what was told to me and nobody told me about another Dee once I arrived I doesn't say in my bill that I have a balance due. I drove directly to U-Haul from Greenville, SC, to meet movers at a particular time and was beyond stressed. There was a minor mishap with the online reservation for my storage unit but Caleb was AMAZING! He was really sensitive to my situation and was extremely kind, helpful, and accommodating. Pulled up to begin unloading items to place in storage and was told by an employee I am not allowed to park where I was. I explained we were taking items into our storage unit which was why I was parked up front by the door leading inside the building. He stated where I was parked was “their” parking and customers can’t park there. When I asked where we should move he stated he didn’t know but I can’t stay where I’m at. Another vehicle pulled up and parked close to the entrance to begin unloading to which the employee told them “you can’t park here”. We both asked again where we should park and the employee began to get frustrated only stating “I don’t know but not here”. The manager was the rudest, snd when I ask who the manager was he spoke up and said "Is there something you need"? I said no I need a business card with name, he in turn gave me a full sheet of locations but no name. U-haul sent a letter to my parents' address despite the fact that I am not the primary account holder, I never provided my parent's addres, and that our unit was already closed. This letter revealed very personal information that I never authorized U-Haul to reveal to anyone and as I never provided that address I need an answer as to why this was sent. I've used this location before, but right before the pandemic, summer of 2019, I moved, not renewing apartment lease because my Dad was dying, left town. Then, car broke down, traded it in fast. So busy, frustrated & exhausted. I had to store all my belongings. No full-time job after returning from Dad's funeral. Someone went in my unit, stole an item that I know it wasn't me. Only I have the key and no one else. Rented for 2 years because I had no home of my own. Whoever is going around the units sneaking around when manager is gone stealing from the ones stored for so long should know I found out because I'm very particular of how I preserve my belongings. The item was permanently tied in knots with a large item because I wanted it there always!!! My item was cut and yanked off by someone. I truly appreciated the climate control. Stored wooden furniture for a little over a year and was in the same condition I put it in as. We have used this facility for years but couldn't wait to move out. Staff are nice, but management is totally unhelpful. We paid for extra hours access but several times weren't able to get in. Though our storage units were never bothered, the building security was not secure. I would NOT recommend single women use or access this facility. The automatic front doors are open to the general public all day during business hours despite the fact that it is described as a "secure" facility. I inquired about why a code was not necessary and why it wasn't locked during the day, and I was told by management that it was "public." This is simply not true: I paid significant amounts of rent monthly to use it ($350 per month for two 10x10 units for years) and random passersby do not pay a dime; therefore, they should not have the same access as I do, and this certainly lowers the level of security. On several occasions, I had uncomfortable moments at this facility when transient men entered the building; they made lewd comments and drove back and forth on their bikes in front of the building, and as I was going in and out and would enter the front doors with their bikes to use the bathroom. The bathroom (on the first floor) was treated as public, rather than reserved for renters. Additionally, during COVID, the mask mandate was not enforced here.corrine s. | Overall Experience

Staff was rude and disrespectful when we set off the alarm. I explained we had only been there twice because we needed to store my daughter's items for college during the pandemic. BOTH experiences were awful. The first visit we were given the wrong codes which set off the alarm (not our fault) and the second time was purely accidental. The m staff member over the intercom was disrespectful and condescending. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. People who need a storage facility are generally in some form of transition. Manager was quite discourteous from the very beginning. I incurred a late fee at the very beginning of the pandemic after losing my job. He refunded my late fee, however, he was very unkind and and condescending. He expressed no empathy whatsoever and stated as long as I had the unit he would never refund another late fee. In October, the keycard machine wasn’t working one night and a line of people had gathered and were trying to swipe in. I called the after hours number and it was the same unpleasant manager. Still discourteous. Still unhelpful. I hope that staff realize that moving into a storage unit can be a very low point in ones life, particularly after a job loss related to Novel Coronavirus. Thanks to Uhaull, I was able to store many items that freed my apt from clutter. Now that I have a larger dwelling and more space, I no longer need uhauls services. The only issue I had was the yearly price hike Uhaul charged to keep the storage space in the Somewhat 3 years I used their services. Shame on the general manager, he was too tired to answer the phone after hours and the only time he did, he was rude, definitely no customer service nor managerial skills, and on top of that, rip offs. We only used the storage half of the month and no refund, yet you are sending this survey and a final receipt meaning that we are not using the storage, I can almost guarantee that it will be rented to somebody else, so you are double dipping on the rent. When I was checking in I was returning my Uhaul truck and the person who was supposed to help me park it was so rude. I couldn't maneuver the truck because I'm not used to driving such a big vehicle so I asked him to help me and he refused, calling me a homophobic slur and saying I was stupid. I then went to ask the other person working outside to help and he yelled at me telling me I'm a big boy and can drive the vehicle by myself, which I couldn't. I went to the manager to tell him and he brushed it off like it was no big deal, and told me that he would do nothing about it. I will NEVER give my money to this UHaul location again knowing they are anti LGBTQ+ and just flat out rude. Been using UHaul for years and this is the only location I have ever had issues with. The only feedback I can give was that anytime I called over the past two years no one was ever available from that location and no one from that location answered the phone. This was frustrating because the only way to talk to someone there was to got physically to the location, wait on a long line of people who were renting trucks, and then my matter could be handled. This part was very inconvenient when I just had a basic question or need. That would be feedback that I would have to give.
