While the service at 304 East Ben White location was amazing, we had the extremely disappointing experience with the Slaughter lane location on the very same day. My first reservation was at Slaughter lane location. They did not hold onto my guaranteed reservation because I was 45 minutes late even though I have sent a note on my file about being late by one hour. They did nothing to help me and were very rude and unapologetic. It was extremely frustrating and my entire move plan was in dissaraay. Kudos to the 304 east Ben White staff who saved my day. Called (tx ph#) to schedule boxes to be taken out of storage 2 days early but when I arrived at location, they said there was no record of my request and to come back tomorrow. First let me say that years ago I never had any issues with U-Haul. But for the last 4 times I've had to use U-Haul it has turned out to be such a negative & horrible situation. If it's not about being told one price an turning out to be a heck of alot more then what we were originally told, then it's about not able to get a reservation an if I fi ally do then the trucks r not available, it's the manager being unprofessional & extremely rude, or even this last time the web sight somehow flawed apparently an offered me a storage which I needed an said it would be free an it wasn't supposed to but when I tried several times to tell the manager about what it was doing he was yelling at me an then hung up in my face!! My reservation for a 10:00 AM pick up was made over a week in advance. The day before pick up I received a call that the trailer size I had reserved would not be available until 6:00 PM. I had help lined to load and arrangements made for hotel stays. All arrangements had to be cancelled or changed and my return trip delayed. No explanation beyond there is not a trailer in the area was provided. No discount compensation for this inconvenience was offered or received. Totally unacceptable and I will not be renting from U-haul again.RICHARD L.

The person who waited on me was extremely rude. He was yelling through the headset of the very nice guy who removed the trailer for me the next day. I know they are busy and stressed but this did not help. The location to go pick up the trailer was poorly marked also. Also, added two hours to my time and got charged for two days even though less than 24 hours. Had to request a refund, thank goodness I caught it in time. The dolly was not put on correctly and in the middle of our trip experienced our car no longer aligned, and potentially damaging our car. The ratchet straps weren't on the tires and on one side the chain was attached to tubing, not the axel. Also the truck on the passenger side, the floor gets extremely hot. I had two uboxes sent from San Diego to Austin. When my boxes arrived in Austin I received an email. I called uhaul to schedule the delivery to my home. The soonest they could deliver was in 7 days. They told me to go to their website to hire a third party to deliver the uboxes. In the end everything worked out, however it took several phone calls to get the information I needed. The customer service reps were not very forthcoming. I had to ask several questions and call many times to get the information I needed to arrange the third party to pick up, rent a trailer, etc. It was very frustrating. The hold time on the phone was usually 8 minutes. It cost me $700 to have the two uboxes delivered to my address. When uhaul gave me my original quote for $2800 to ship two uboxes I did not realize I needed to add another $1.2K in hidden fees. That seems unacceptable to me. The entire move cost me $4K, not $2800. Aside from the financial stress, coordinating everything with uhaul made it even more stressful. I will not do a cross country move again with uhaul uboxes, nor will I recommend this service to others based on my experience.Stacey F.

I am not sure. They were efficient. We returned a rental 1 day early. They were going to do an overage on mileage from Odessa, TX to Austin(min 340 miles). we did not put 450 miles on the truck. They gave us a cold eye. We are returning the truck with extra fuel and a day early on a 6 hour drive from Odessa. Odessa entered the odometer wrong and had us drive an extra 10-15. miles to pickup pads and dolly requested. Give me a break. Be realistic on mileage limits. and cut the customer some slack. I returned the dollies. The rental had 1 pack of blankets, I requested 4. The u-haul in odessa gave me the 3 additional sets without recording them. I returned the truck spotless. I returned 24 blankets. The truck did what it needed. It is loud. Has no cruise control. and according to my brother can be a bumpy. ride.Thomas B.

The manager was the rudest, snd when I ask who the manager was he spoke up and said "Is there something you need"? I said no I need a business card with name, he in turn gave me a full sheet of locations but no name. U-haul sent a letter to my parents' address despite the fact that I am not the primary account holder, I never provided my parent's addres, and that our unit was already closed. This letter revealed very personal information that I never authorized U-Haul to reveal to anyone and as I never provided that address I need an answer as to why this was sent. I've used this location before, but right before the pandemic, summer of 2019, I moved, not renewing apartment lease because my Dad was dying, left town. Then, car broke down, traded it in fast. So busy, frustrated & exhausted. I had to store all my belongings. No full-time job after returning from Dad's funeral. Someone went in my unit, stole an item that I know it wasn't me. Only I have the key and no one else. Rented for 2 years because I had no home of my own. Whoever is going around the units sneaking around when manager is gone stealing from the ones stored for so long should know I found out because I'm very particular of how I preserve my belongings. The item was permanently tied in knots with a large item because I wanted it there always!!! My item was cut and yanked off by someone. We have used this facility for years but couldn't wait to move out. Staff are nice, but management is totally unhelpful. We paid for extra hours access but several times weren't able to get in. Though our storage units were never bothered, the building security was not secure. I would NOT recommend single women use or access this facility. The automatic front doors are open to the general public all day during business hours despite the fact that it is described as a "secure" facility. I inquired about why a code was not necessary and why it wasn't locked during the day, and I was told by management that it was "public." This is simply not true: I paid significant amounts of rent monthly to use it ($350 per month for two 10x10 units for years) and random passersby do not pay a dime; therefore, they should not have the same access as I do, and this certainly lowers the level of security. On several occasions, I had uncomfortable moments at this facility when transient men entered the building; they made lewd comments and drove back and forth on their bikes in front of the building, and as I was going in and out and would enter the front doors with their bikes to use the bathroom. The bathroom (on the first floor) was treated as public, rather than reserved for renters. Additionally, during COVID, the mask mandate was not enforced here.corrine s. | Overall Experience

Staff was rude and disrespectful when we set off the alarm. I explained we had only been there twice because we needed to store my daughter's items for college during the pandemic. BOTH experiences were awful. The first visit we were given the wrong codes which set off the alarm (not our fault) and the second time was purely accidental. The m staff member over the intercom was disrespectful and condescending. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. People who need a storage facility are generally in some form of transition. Manager was quite discourteous from the very beginning. I incurred a late fee at the very beginning of the pandemic after losing my job. He refunded my late fee, however, he was very unkind and and condescending. He expressed no empathy whatsoever and stated as long as I had the unit he would never refund another late fee. In October, the keycard machine wasn't working one night and a line of people had gathered and were trying to swipe in. I called the after hours number and it was the same unpleasant manager. Still discourteous. Still unhelpful. I hope that staff realize that moving into a storage unit can be a very low point in ones life, particularly after a job loss related to Novel Coronavirus. Thanks to Uhaull, I was able to store many items that freed my apt from clutter. Now that I have a larger dwelling and more space, I no longer need uhauls services. The only issue I had was the yearly price hike Uhaul charged to keep the storage space in the Somewhat 3 years I used their services. Shame on the general manager, he was too tired to answer the phone after hours and the only time he did, he was rude, definitely no customer service nor managerial skills, and on top of that, rip offs. We only used the storage half of the month and no refund, yet you are sending this survey and a final receipt meaning that we are not using the storage, I can almost guarantee that it will be rented to somebody else, so you are double dipping on the rent. I cannot say enough about the Employee Andrian!!!!! The trip was VERY long and my car was ready to give up. O had not scheduled to drop off at this location, but I just showed up and he went above and beyond to help me. He allowed me to leave the trailer and return the next morning to unpack. He was there that next day, the 4th, and again went above and beyond to help!!! When I was checking in I was returning my Uhaul truck and the person who was supposed to help me park it was so rude. I couldn't maneuver the truck because I'm not used to driving such a big vehicle so I asked him to help me and he refused, calling me a homophobic slur and saying I was stupid. I then went to ask the other person working outside to help and he yelled at me telling me I'm a big boy and can drive the vehicle by myself, which I couldn't. I went to the manager to tell him and he brushed it off like it was no big deal, and told me that he would do nothing about it. I will NEVER give my money to this UHaul location again knowing they are anti LGBTQ+ and just flat out rude. Been using UHaul for years and this is the only location I have ever had issues with. The facility itself was great. Clean. The only feedback I can give was that anytime I called over the past two years no one was ever available from that location and no one from that location answered the phone. This was frustrating because the only way to talk to someone there was to got physically to the location, wait on a long line of people who were renting trucks, and then my matter could be handled. This part was very inconvenient when I just had a basic question or need. That would be feedback that I would have to give.
