I have rented a unit from the facility by Arrowhead mall for over 4 years now. The manager 4 years ago was fantastic! I mostly just needed the unit for receiving large shipments on pallets. Uhaul provides a service for this which I paid for. The staff 4 years ago was also fantastic. The janitor always stopped to talk to me as well as the staff in the bay. However, it's now 2022 and in the past 6 months there have been several manager changes. Each one has gotten worse. They would give me a hard time about my shipments being dropped off. They gave the delivery drivers a hard time and didn't want to sign for my shipments being dropped off. They would call me an hour before they close and insist that I get there to take the shipment before the office closed. It became unreasonable. I was told that the owner was the one giving them a hard time and in turn, the manager was passing that on to me. The final straw was when the new manager called me in and told me they'd have to add $10 a month to my bill (after I'd been renting at the same price for 4+ years) because they had made a mistake and needed to charge me more. Not sure who taught these guys how to run a business, but I hope the extra $20 from my last 2 months was worth losing a customer who was paying $170+ a month for over 4 years. Hated it. Charged the wrong amount. Paid for a air controlled unit and I was out in a non- air controlled unit. Items were ruined. Employees misspelled my address and number on file. We had a reservation with a reservation confirmation to a storage unit and flew 1600 miles to store our belongings only to find out they didn't have our unit and there were other people on a waiting list for the same unit! Overall experience wasn't the best. I have used uhaul for years and never had issues til now. I reserved a truck ahead of time and when I arrive I couldn't check in online like it said I could. I had to go inside for the gentleman to check me to then tell me that the truck I reserved hadn't been returned yet. He was very nice about it and talked to his manger about a solution. The truck then arrived as he was talking with the manager. So I'm the end I ended up with the truck I needed which I'm grateful for but didn't appreciate the overall experience.Amber C.

My original pick-up was at a different location. The Dolley wasn't returned in time so we went to this location. The employee saved my day since I had a 4pm pickup and then a 5am departure the next morning. If he wasn't able to help me my move would have been delayed.EDWARD MICHAEL B.
Moving is stressful. There was a slight mix up with my vehicle and the mileage listed and the mileage actually on the vehicle. When I returned it, I also returned 14 furniture pads I didn't end up needing for a one way rental I'm in the middle of right now. I believe the rep I spoke with was named Dylan based on the receipt. Long story short, I was a dick to Dylan. He was trying to help me and I was at the end of 2 days where nothing was easy and most things went wrong and I snapped at him and no one deserves that. I just wanted to apologize to the kid and let him know that my temperament and the challenges I'm having may be the reason I was a jackass, it's not an excuse. There's no excuse to talk to someone like I did when he was trying to do his job. My apologies and thanks for your help.ROBERT T.

My reservation, which was confirmed by UHaul, was for the location at 67th/Bell, but when I showed up there, I was told my vehicle was at a different location. I was never advised by UHaul that my location had changed. The change caused me to incur Uber expense.Gary S.

Ensure that vehicle is in top condition. I had a lot trouble with starting the vehicle, driver side sun visor was not working, and the brake pad needed to be adjusted or replaced. Also check out time was way too long.JOSEPH C.

I had a reservation. When I arrived we checked in. The agent helping us places the Erin name on the account. Then he gave us directions to a unit number that was incorrect, it was the incorrect unit number. Then when we received the correct unit number. We unpacked went to the unit , there was a lock on it. We informed the front desk they sent an agent to unlock it. He found out that his key didn't work, Notified us that it was a customers lock. That UHaul were not allowed to cut the lock. However I could go get a lock Cutter and cut it off. Inform them that was not my responsibility. They had no other units the size that we had reserved that was climate controlled. The way this van was given to me was a crime. Sticky stained floor mats and dashboard from spilled soda, a food container with empty food in it under the passenger seat, crumbs/stains on the seats, etc. I had this for a week rental. I had to take it home and my wife and I scoured this covid infested POS mess... I have pictures if you want to see, but I'm sure no one cares there. Someone needs fired at this location.MATHEW G.

This was the second time I reserved at U-Haul at Grand and Bell, Surprise, AZ. They referred me again to another location because they never seem to have basic moving items on hand. While the Surprise location is very close and convenient, the supplying location is much further away and inconvenient. It seems the Surprise location rarely has the basic stuff, like an appliance dolly, that other sites have. Kind of pissed off, actually. I wish they could get their act together.RONALD B.

I encountered a problem trying to lock the unit; after a long exhausting day, I couldn't get the top part of the latch to slide forward placing the plunger into the hole in the door frame. A young man from the office came to help but was unable to get the latch to engage as well. He told me no one would be available to fix it until morning. Obviously that wasn't acceptable. He left to see if someone else could help. After standing at my storage unit for about 10 minutes I went outside to see the young man who had been helping me was now in the driveway assisting people w/ their rental trailers. So I called the U-Haul main number and held for nearly 15 minutes. While I was holding the young man comes to me to report that his manager is gone and she's not answering the phone because she's off duty now. I was also told there was no emergency number because this problem had never occurred before. The lady who answered my call shared that if the unit couldn't be locked, the store had an obligation to move my belongings to a secure facility if that was needed to secure it. I explained that we had just moved three safes into the unit and that would be extremely difficult without the appropriate equipment. After a long hold, she comes back on the line and tells me she's "just going to have to wake Jennifer up." I didn't realize it, but the rep connected me directly to Jennifer who clearly wasn't happy with the call. She tried to explain that the store was closed now and there was no one to help. I told her this all began before the store closed. Finally she offered to get the situation corrected and told me she would call me back. Almost immediately two attendants came running to help. Turns out that in order to get the top latch to engage, it requires the user to literally stand on the handle applying all the user's weight for this particular unit. At the end of an exhausting day to have run into this odd situation was tear-inducing and to have a staff that seemed so ill-prepared was even more frustrating. It took more than an hour to correct something that should have taken the amount of time it would take an employee to get from the store to the unit in question but an hour was unacceptable. Jennifer could have called me back too to make sure everything was finally handled correctly and to my satisfaction, but...I will continue to use the facility but will recognize that if assistance is required, it seems to be limited by knowledge, imagination and desire.Sandra C. | Online Move In
