Pick up was a good experience. The drop off professional, quick with excellent customer service. I'm the past, uhaul has had poor customer service which at times has stopped me from using uhaul and using a competitor. Both the pick up and especially drop off experience was a refreshing change. I had to wait over 10 mins inside before an employee came I to the building to help me. I know Saturdays are busy, but perhaps have more staff to anticipate that. It would be helpful to be informed at pickup where the key dropbox is so you don't have to run around the lot looking for it when online says it's at the front entrance and it's on the side in the garage door.KASEY F.

Please have better communication with clients to understand procedures of uhaul and what to do instead handing people keys and letting them figure out things on there knowledge of what to do. It took over a half an hour for me to get my rental that I had reserved ahead of time because of issues with the verification system. The emails I received from Uhaul when I placed my reservation had advised me to follow a provided link when I got to the location in order to pick up the vehicle. When I got to the store I followed those instructions, and was surprised to find that the ways listed to have my identity verified included multiple documents I would never have on my person when picking up a rental truck unless I had been told explicitly I would need them in advance (proof of income, passport, etc.). Since I didn't have these documents, and I work at a place that is not open at noon on a Saturday, I had to go with listing a back up contact. The person I listed as a contact (who had come to the store with me) received a text message in advance advising them they would receive a call from a particular phone number, so they added that number to their safe call list. They were then called from three different numbers, none of which matched the number from the text they'd received. When those calls got flagged as spam because they weren't the ones that he had added to his safe list, the customer service reps got mad at me because he wasn't picking up. The second contact I put down had the same issue. Both of my contacts attempted to call the number back when they missed the call, and the people at the call center were extremely rude to them and weren't able to help them reach whoever was trying to call them for verification. To make matters worse, the first customer service representative I spoke with through chat (Samantha) lied to me about my contact's voicemail message not matching the name I had given them. I know that was a lie because the representative inside the store tried to call him with the phone on speaker, and my contact's name was clear and matched the name I'd given. The whole time they were trying to get verification, I was treated like they thought I was lying to them and was reprimanded for my contacts not answering their phones - something I did not have control over. To make matters worse, the time that I had to spend waiting for the verification process to happen was not subtracted from the time window I'd rented the vehicle for, so I spent the day rushing to make sure I could get it back on time. There was only one person in the whole interaction who was nice to me, and if I had her name I would give it to you. She worked inside the store at Lamar and assisted me with looking up the mattress bags I'd paid for online ahead of time. She was helpful and delightful. But even she was not enough to make up for the terrible experience I had overall. Especially since she had to defend me to the other customer service representative I was speaking to in store who didn't believe I'd paid for the mattress bags previously, didn't try to look up the information to see if I was telling the truth, and essentially accused me of trying to steal them. Overall, I would highly recommend that the verification process be something that can be done before someone with a reservation shows up to pick up their vehicle so that the customer has access to the required documents when filling out the form, and if there are any issues they can be handled ahead of time without taking half an hour of the time the vehicle was reserved for. This was my first experience using Uhaul, and I can confidently say that it will also be my last.rebecca T.

Customer service- the employee checking in was very uninterested in helping. Said maybe 5 words while checking out and seemed irritated when asked a question. I also arrived 5 minutes after closing and same employee just said â€œI'm already closedâ€. Didn't bother to suggest that I could self check in. Employees on Ben White are excellent but there wasn't a trailer there so had to go to Lamar. Terribly unfriendly and minimal helpful there.AMY ANDERSON C.

My dad was discriminated by an employee (Guzman) for not speaking English. The employee refused to help my dad and said that he is in the US and should speak English. That is clear discrimination and racism and the employee should be reprimanded for his behavior.Eduardo M.

Odometer reading is incorrect. I rented a cargo van for 3 hours and only traveled 8 miles total as I had planned my route. I was charged 40 miles. I had previously rented Uhaul at other locations and never had this problem.YONGCHIA L.

I was told I could return after hours, then check in on a computer. I did that, and after getting home and logging in, I was informed on the site that I needed to check in on an app at the drop off location. I was charged a $20 fee - this would have been avoided if I was told that I needed to do the check in physically on site. Very frustratingJOHN PATRICK F.
Unfortunately, after getting in the truck to drive off I saw that the truck wasn't cleaned inside. I found personal mail from a previous renter under the passenger seat. The windshield had dead bugs all over it. Coffee stains etc on the dashboard area. It was gross and I cleaned it myself. The truck drove beautifully over the 2000 miles.Catherine C.

I was picking up the truck early and it was RIGHT where it needed to be, up at the front. This also helps my mobile pick up be efficient. A rep showed up and asked if I was ok, which was nice because I was picking up really early and it was dark out. The return was easy too. The same gentleman that checked on me earlier asked me if he'd like for me to let him check my truck in, I took him up for it since it had been a long morning. Great service!ROSA A.

Christian was helpful knowledgeable and very good at customer service. Very enjoyable experience. One thing I think U-Haul should look at nationally is the placement of Tesla along side other fast EV chargers at every U-Haul location throughout the United States. Not only will it help EV drivers but this addition could put U-Haul in the category likened to that of the family auto service stations for travel and electric energy charging. I was sent here at the last possible moment on a Friday afternoon, when the original reservation location told me they were "too small", despite having the exact truck on site that I was looking for. So that added time and miles. The second site was being manned by one individual, the manager, Chris Siens, who was trying to help a line of 6 or more people by himself, since all his staff had quit without notice. Kudos to Chris for a yeoman performance. His knowledge of operational details allowed him to process me and others very quickly, all while maintaining a positive attitude in the face of adversity. I also want to comment the truck was totally serviceable and was really much easier to handle than I expected so the move was very smooth.Kevin R.

Maybe it was because there was only one person working, however we did not receive any details or next steps once we dropped off our rental truck. The person literally told us, "It will be a while before you get your receipt. You're free to go." After I got my receipt, I noticed that there was a charge for gas. I had no idea that was going to be a charge or if we needed to do that before returning it. I honestly didn't mind the charge, but it would have been appreciated if that detail was relayed to us before we left. Our truck specifically smelled like vomit and feces when we opened it up, and the smell lingered on some of our furniture. Maybe it was just bad luck but overall, I was not satisfied with my first time using U-Haul.VANESSA M.

I thought they did a great job. We returned the truck when there were many other trucks being returned. They had the parking lot all staged for the rush. Somebody was there quickly to manage the return and everything went smoothly! They even asked us if we had any mechanical problems with the truck (the air conditioning kept randomly switching from the front vents to the defroster) so I felt that they were interested in correcting any problems along with taking care of usual maintenance.James A.

I had the WORST experience with Uhaul. From late delivery to ignorant staff to uncommunicative customer service, the experience of picking up my Ubox belongings was some of the most horrible exchanges with a business I've ever heard. I intend to make an official complaint about it but unfortunately, no customer service representative has helped me with this.
