John H | First ImpressionsThe process was terrible. The early check in website would not work. On a Saturday morning they only had one person to check you in. The check in process is evasive. The scam on having to pick up their insurance. " Your immediately responsible for $48,000 if in any wreck even if not your fault. Got in van " low tire" light was on.
Craig OThe person who attached tow dolly to my truck put me at risk & cost me precious time! He attached the safety wires to each other - not the truck. One of the tire straps was undone so he fed incorrectly into the ratchet & cranked it down until stuck in place. The ratchet pulled the tire end along w the strap making it very difficult to move the straps either way. In a hurry to leave town to beat the incoming storm on my trip route. It took two people & a couple tools more than 30 minutes to free the strap sp that the equipment could be used. EXTREMELY disappointing!!! I rented fromu-haul to make my trip easier. Instead, u-haul made it more difficult and cost me time I didn't have to spare and put me in danger with a load not fully secured. I was not given ANY instructions. Instead, I had to ask how the ramp, the tire straps & the ratchet worked. He did not run the strap behind the bar as the sticker says to.

Krassimir V | Overall ExperienceThe air conditioner was broke when we got in driveway away, we let them know. The knob was broken on the AC but it should work on max. It didn’t as we stopped at Ace hardware and bought a pliers to turn the knob, still no AC, just hot air. Was told I can get your new one, we had only a certain amount of time and had already spent 20 minutes then had to do the run thru. Called to see about any compensation and the response was I told you I could’ve gotten you an another truck, we didn’t have the time to waste, it should have worked when we picked it up. The truck was old, no ramp provided, the handle nob on the window to put it down,, was missing. Drove to ft Myers and back in a hot sauna. That truck should have been scrapped years ago and the only thing clean in it was the floor mats. We had wiped it down before getting in with disinfectant wipes which were flithy. Will not rent from this location again.

Ken BWell next time if there is such a thing it would be nice to ship the correct ubox. It took 4 days worth of phone calls and 8 different people to get it straightened out and when I picked up my box the paperwork still had the wrong ubox number on it.

KEVIN BOnly problem was with the two moving guys that helped. They scratched my white leather couch while going out the front door and then proceeded to drop it on the concrete when they finally made it out. Doing a very nice job of ruining it. Of course no contact or reimbursement after that was done. Next time I'd have them sign paperwork for my liability and damages made prior to moving. That is the only thing that reflects poorly on U-Haul.

Ronald DTrailer had a very poorly done repair done to the top front corners, with gaps and some kind of putty instead of rivets. Driving through rain, this leaked water on many of our contents and destroyed some valuable collector’s art I’ve been saving, including rare stamps. Yes we bought the insurance, but we shouldn’t have to deal with that, if the trailer was repaired properly there would be no issue.

My sister and I sat in the store quite some time while she worked on a quote for us. There was difficulty with the computer and back and forth. We asked more than once what our total cost would be. We were told $1,266 total EXCEPT for cost to get it from Newport News, VA to my house in Williamsburg, VA. Sister and I agreed to take the $1,266 route with box and decide later on picking it up w/$19.95 truck and trailer or do the $200 delivery when we got home. Jamie was also very helpful in providing a lock for us when we didn't have one. It was very hectic moving and I didn't read emails received. Now hearing that our charge is $213.95 higher than the $1266 quoted for initial delivery of the box in Port Charlotte and that it wasn't included in the $1266 quoted. We dispute.

We moved several states away and was happy our stuff arrived in good shape. Only issue we into is after we completed emptying our containers, the original scheduled pick up was missed and it was never communicated to us why. It was very hard to get in touch with anyone to get something rescheduled, which the 2nd pick up appointment was missed as well. Finally 5 days later the containers were eventually picked up on the 3rd rescheduled pick up. Overall satisfied and couldn’t beat the price compared to the other competitor companies.

The lady, Wendy, at the location was not friendly and made age discrimination comments saying young people shouldn’t work there because they don’t do anything. The truck wasn’t ready when I got there. The door was locked even though the location was open during the hours I arrived. Four phone numbers for a rental is absolutely ridiculous. Two is sufficient. If I ever rent from uhaul again, it most certainly won’t be from this location. I do have a complaint in with corporate as well. I am waiting in a response from them.

Everything was excellent for the EXCEPTION of poor insect control. Not only did I see roaches in my unit, but once I got home and started unpacking there were quite a few in my belongings. It was so bad that when I arrived at my unit I witnessed a roach trying to crawl under my unit door. With that said , I don’t see my self recommending this facility to anyone until, if ever, the roach infestation has been remedied. Who wants to bring roaches home?

I drove it 13 miles total round trip to Home Depot and back and it took 4.8 gallons of gas. Obviously, Uhaul had not checked the gas. I got ripped off, and they refused to issue a partial refund. I will not be back.

Jamie, the manager, was available and helpful at move-in and move-out. As an aside, one thing I did not think of when storing belongings in SW Florida was the potential for hurricanes. After Hurricane Ian ended up passing through during our "stay," I was thankful our belongings were on the second floor and in an interior unit of a new facility!

As I was going to check out the guy at the facility pulled off in his car as he seen me walking up to the building to go in to check out the facility did not close till 5:00 so I didn't know if he was leaving for the day or coming back we had a 11-hour drive and could not hang out to wait and see if he was coming back. So I called you all and checked out with the lady who was very helpful I insured her that we took pictures because the guy had left that was supposed to do the walkthrough with us she said that was perfectly fine and to hold on to the pictures in case of an discrepancy. As I was pulling off the guy had returned I went in and gave him my key card he said we could not leave until he did the walkthrough I told him I talked with the lady that said it was fine to leave and she had checked us out he then said he don't know how she can check us out over the phone but looked at his computer and seen that she had he successfully check this out he said we was good to go and gave us our receipt and that he would do the walk-through. I assured him also that I took pictures and everything looked good in the unit other than a few dead water bugs on the floor that obviously came from another unit but they was dead. Other then the price hike without my knowledge everything was great. Just had to get my things because I don't know if they took the price up 10 dollars what it would be next time without my knowledge. So I my stuff out of there quick once they took it up! Anyway for this reason i wouldn't recommend this storage facility to anyone unless you ask questions about how much this unit goes up and how offen cause again they took the price up $10 and when I asked why the guy couldn't even tell me why the price went up. Just said they taking everything thing up now and days. Well that wasn't a good enough answer and the following month i went and got my stuff cause They wasn't gonna get over on me with price hikes and couldn't give me a good enough reason to why. Anyway staff was great friendly just gotta be honest about things and stop price hiking people.

I thought climate control meant that it would be cool but it was almost 90° in there and the sign says it would be kept between 65° and 85°. I talked to other of my friends that have storage units and they said that it should be in the 70s if not the 60s inside. I’m worried that the hot temps are going to ruin my things in storage.

Karen R | First ImpressionsThis place was absolutely amazing! I made sure to tell the staff every time I saw them how unreal clean it was. I mean they were cleaning all the time and it shows!! I only have two suggestions and I’m just being nit picky: if they could change the timing on the elevator doors closing by deleting it just about two or three more seconds that would be very helpful. The doors always closed too fast after entering or trying to leave. The second person pushing a cart would not make it out after the first person before the doors would close and the same after a person would push the first cart back into the elevator. The second thing is, most likely nothing can be done on it, again with the elevator. When pushing the carts in or out there steel track is extremely rough and vibrates the cart where things can fall off. Kind of hard to explain it’s the part right when you enter the elevator and then the part right on the building floor as you exit the elevator. It’s like rumble strips on the shoulder of the highway. But seriously those two things are it and aren’t that important but if you wanted perfection there you go. The office staff were awesome explained how to use the cards, security, cameras, hours of operation how to hire movers. They all went above and beyond and should be recognized for keeping this place the most outstanding storage facility I’ve ever been in!
