The 20 feet van was not safe from rain water. Our furnishings, mattress, boxes that sat directly on the floor were soaked on the bottom. When I returned the vehicle there were two employees sitting inside the office. I asked them to check me in and they said that a person was pumping propane and he would get to me later. When I went to the propane area, there were two cars in line for propane.

Although this location is well run there is a lot to be said for central phone scheduling/reservations. I have rented a utility trailer twice within a year from U-Haul. Both times a bungled set up,causing me to drive back and forth for my trailer. Xtra gas and loss of time.

The front desk was not organized or helpful. They changed our reservation at pickup and charged for insurance that we didn’t want. Couldn’t reverse it bc she didn’t know how. We had it scheduled for two days and she changed it to one and couldn’t change it back. When we returned the trailer they didn’t have correct records of what we rented and what we were returning.

The truck was in good condition and all the equipment worked well. However I’m extremely unsatisfied with billing. While picking up the truck I asked what the policy was on fuel and was told just to bring it back close to what the gauge said. The tank was under 1/4 when I picked up the truck and was just under 1/4 tank when I returned the truck. I only drove the truck 23 miles as stated on my bill. I was then charged $25.00 in fuel and $30.00 fuel fee on top of that. The hand truck in the back of the truck has a sign that says $10. To use then I was billed $21.00. I feel these charges are a way to milk extra fees from renters in the hope they just pay the bill.

I called and set up a reservation, when I arrived there was no reservation. I actually set up 2 reservations one for Saturday and none of them were there. Issue number 1 then I rented the truck no issues there. When I went to return the truck I had issues again. I returned the truck at 830 pm the same day I rented it. When I typed in the address on my webpage it kept taking me to your main page I could not find where to return it. It was cold and raining and after 2x I gave up with the online return. I dropped the keys and contract and then went home. Once I got home I called into customer service and told them the issues I was having. They said they would note it on the account. They mentioned a 20 dollar fee and I asked them if I really was going to be charged if I had no had the truck for 24 hours and they said I would not. I thought I resolved the issue but Alas no. I woke up to a 20 dollar charge. The Call into customer service was absolutely worthless. So now I call into customer service for a 3rd time to dispute the charges. They remove the fee and said well we sent you a text. Seriously your company has made returns soooo difficult I need to call into customer service 2x just to get resolution. So issue 2 if that wasn’t clear. Let’s talk about issue 3 the policy that forces you to go online while your there to return or a 20 dollar fee. This is absolute ageism at it worst. So if I don’t have internet on my phone like my parents they get charged if they return it at night? I get punished for not going online to return it? No rental company does this. In the past when I rented with you I never had to waste so much time fighting this horrible policy. So the end result I canceled my reservation for Saturday the one that took being in person to book. Because my call didn’t register at the shop even with the phone number I provided, or other identifiers that were asked. So my final thoughts this was a horrible experience. Your new policy has lost you a customer. I moved several times across the country with you now I won’t use you to move across the town. Issue 4 Your own technology doesn’t work your system doesn’t communicate with the shop and when you call customer service, I wish you the best resolving your issues.

The vehicle itself was well maintained. Having said that, it had virtually no fuel when I picked it up. This caused us to make an additional stop which put us late to meet our hired movers through U-Haul. We we're also charged for an extra dolly we did not order. My confirmation email showed the truck I rented but I should have clicked a link to see the actual order which showed that they put two different dollies on the order. Even though we had no use for the second and didn't order it over the phone, they would not remove it from the order.

U-haul's website's gives the no-insurance option "Immediately reimburse U-Haul for damage. The rental trailer you have selected has an approximate value of up to $6,000 USD. Credit cards and most auto insurance policies do not cover damage to rental trailers." THIS IS AN OPPRESSIVE POLICY. It's only there to push sales. I wonder if its even legal. Either way, that's a VERY unfriendly mennner for U-Haul to treat customers!
