First of all I have been renting at Life Storage for years overpaying for what they said was climate controlled, but clearly it was not because this facility is on another level the ease getting in and out them providing A Lock you don’t have to pay for and the unit the whole building is actually air-conditioned is a game changer. This is the best facility I’ve ever been to.

Eduardo Prented a car transport and the worker didn't know how to load car and told me I was on my own. I thought that was inappropriate. He said he didnt' have enough training to help me. Just at that moment area field manager Duane Vanderwerf showed up in a beautiful U-Haul pick up truck. I asked if he could help me load my car and he was happy to assist! He also trained the new employee on the process. I got very lucky to have Duane show up. Otherwise i was told I had to wait an hour to load my car.
Eric H10ft Cargo van we rented was clean and well maintained EXCEPT for the following: A/C unit produced plenty of cold air, but the ONLY way to get the air was through the defroster vents located at the windshield. Whatever bypass valve/shunt/baffle/etc that should directed airflow to the various vents in the dashboard was completely NON-functional. Neither I nor the staff at the pickup location could correct the problem. Since we were driving north in early April in cool temperatures, this was not an issue. It would be an entirely different story if this had been a mid-summer 1100 mile drive in this truck.

KRISTIN WAfter this experience, I don’t think I’ll rent from this company again. I scheduled a pick for 3/30 for a 26’. I get a call back and I’m told they don’t have anything available and that I would need to pick it up in a different county that is at least 30 miles away from the store I selected in Tampa.How about U-Haul the truck from over there and bring it to the location because that sounds like a U problem. Why let people make reservations on line and call the day before saying you don’t have it? Made another reservation via phone this time to only be told there’s no 20’ and 26’ in Tampa at ALL. Called again to check for 15’ U-Haul truck. Rep I spoke with confirmed the new location in Tampa had the 15’ etc. Mind you, I’m driving 35 miles to this location because I had already moved during the week and needed to schedule for Saturday. Arrived at the store for my 9am confirmed and guaranteed appointment. To only be told, they had no 15’ truck available and that it was made for Monday LMAO. After a heated argument, they were able to give me the 15’ truck they supposedly didn’t supposedly have available with half a tank of gas and only 100 miles. Mind you, I have to drive 35 miles back to drop off the items. I was only able to do a one way trip instead of a two trip as originally planned because they wouldn’t allow me to drop off the truck in Zephyrhills. Probably so their store can utilize that truck and rent it again. How ridiculous is that a company as big as U-HAUL, can’t seem to fix their reservation system. I also kept getting multiple calls from other stores during this process. WHAT A COMPLETE MESS. It’s the year 2024, please fix your system and re-train your call center. Shoving people on the list when theirs nothing available for the money.
Ana DThe people were friendly but not really clear on the process. The attendant told me there was a 1/4 tank of gas but there was less than a 1/4 tank when I left. I drove the vehicle for 15 miles put 2 gal of gas in the vehicle, then was charged a $30 fuel fee plus, a 4 gal surcharge of $18. Buyer beware of "additional fees" that should not have been charged.

I should consider legal action against you for harassment and intimidation. Stupid ending to my relationship with U-Haul. I will use Home Depot from now on.
Kevin GThe storage was went and price was affordable but the ladies in the office never wants to help the customer one time I had went there and ask if someone can help me open my uhaul door since it was jammed she said “all you have to do is open it “ I stated that I was jammed again and she replied with the same answer when I went to go un jammed it my hand slipped and the metal left me with a gash on my hand. The manager then helped with and everything was solved. The lady’s in this office just wants to stay at the counter and not actually help customers.

Erica GIt took 30 minutes to get the vehicle I reserved online the day prior due to the computers not working properly, equip the staff with pens and paper to process rentals the old fashioned way just in case. The woman who helped me did her best while her colleague did nothing. There was a 53’ tractor trailer blocking my truck so I got a van instead which was fine with me.

When packing or unpacking "There Should Be A Way To Keep The Motion Sensor Light On" It's very very inconvenient because I had to Stop serveral times to walk near the light sensor because it kept going dark. I asked office about this and was told "There Is No Fix Or Work Around"" This issue would prevent me from using Uhaul for any future Rental and Storage needs.

Carrie R | Overall ExperienceI had a mandatory move date of January 3rd 2024. The movers were contracted for that date for an hourly wage to move my things out of storage to my new apartment. My storage unit was on the 2nd floor. It took twice as long to unload the unit because the elevator was broken. I am handicapped in a wheelchair so I could not even go upstairs to supervise the move. When I contacted the manager and requested some sort of compensation to offset the expense for additional time it cost to move due to the broken elevator he said it was an act of God and no compensation would be made. We communicated back and forth via text. I felt he was arrogant and unreasonable. Due to this experience I certainly wouldn't recommend this U Haul location again.

When I went to the office to tell them about the issue, they said it wasn't U-haul's problem and they couldn't help me. The employee told me to call Repwest insurance. Repwest said they weren't responsible and they would refer my claim to U-haul corporate. I haven't heard anything and I am out two beds and a chair. This was a very bad experience.

Dawn D | Online Move InI had a trailer hitch installed a few months ago and the general manager, Patrick Walker made the transaction work on time and within budget, to our mutual satisfaction in spite of a couple of minor glitches. He also became involved in our storage rental unit agreement due to a conflict between our agreement with an on line agent and the policy of the company. He resolved the issue with no delay and fairly, according to our agreement, and to our satisfaction. The facility is clean and well maintained with easy access. The personnel at this 6111 Gunn Hwy location have been helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this business.

Ellis D | Overall ExperienceI setup a reservation for a unit and everything seemed okay until I got there. I was told I would have 24 hour access but the hours on the door said differently. The Confirmation email didn’t give clear directions on how to get into unit. My code didn’t work to get into the door. I went in behind someone else and when I got to my unit (after I had to search and find it) I opened it and alarms started going off. I had already loaded a cart full of stuff and tried to call the front office for assistance but was transferred to customer service and placed on hold. There was no way to speak with anyone in the front and after being on hold for over 10 mins I loaded my things back into my car, went to the office and canceled my reservation. I received a full refund and will not be using uhaul storage or recommend it to anyone.

Unfortunately once I got there I discovered the Free didn’t include hidden fees for Admin fee and required renters insurance and only their locks can be used. My “FREE” was close to $100. As tired as I was I couldn’t let that happen! I called UHaul they also told me 1st month was free but this time it was REALLY FREE! :-). During this time of Covid, not working, not being able to afford my home any more and moving in with a friend I needed every break possibly. I was thrilled! I jumped back in the truck and went to 6111 Gunn Highway Tampa, FL Where there service was exceptional. I’m so happy I didn’t just say OK and give those other guys my money! Save yourself the time and effort just go to UHaul!

I wouldn’t rent there again because it was too hot in the unit and the heat will ruin furniture!! Satisfied with everything else but not worth losing furniture. Would never rent there again or suggest anyone rent there unless you’re renting an outside space or don’t care how hot the unit is.

Uhaul storage is extremely pricey compared to most others. It’s still a well maintained facility and staff was always friendly.
